Lenny Martinez managed to be the strongest rider from the Breakaway and win the stage with Tadej Pogacar and Vingegaard behind, getting rid of the competition.
Pogacar wins the overall and Vingegaard in Second place plus Florian Lipowitz in third place.
Remco Evenepoel was in problems on the final climb as Pogacar with UAE put pressure on and even Vingegaard could not hold the wheel which meant that the World Champion took his 97th career win and the yellow jersey.

Mathieu van der Poel reluctantly missed out on his first Dauphine stage with the GC riders having a quieter day but it was Jonathan Milan winning the day.
Tadej Pogacar & Jonas Vingegaard meet for the first time in 2025 and since the Tour de France 2024. Tadej Pogacar will be hoping to win his first Dauphine title and Jonas Vingegaard his first after his win in 2024.
Remco Evenepoel will look to win as well but might be battling for a podium.

On the final mountain stage of the Giro d'Italia it was a epic showdown with Carapaz, Del Toro and Simon Yates for the Maglia Rosa with Chris Harper winning the stage on the day.
Isaac del Toro managed to defend jersey from Carapaz and Nicolas Prudhomme took his first win in a grandtour from the breakaway while Pelizzari crashed in the final corner.
On the day of the softer side of the Mortirolo the breakaway were caught before the final climb and Isaac del Toro became the stage winner for the first time in his career and defended his jersey after a flurry of attacks of Richard Carapaz.
Del Toro and Ayuso dropped a lot of time on the day that Roglic abandoned the Giro d'Italia with Astana getting a 1-2 on the stage.
Carlos Verona emerged victorious to win his first grandtour stage win and behind it was Primoz Roglic in big problems after Carapaz and Bernal had put some pressure on everyone on the Monte Grappa. Isaac del Toro remains in the Maglia Rosa.
Isaac Del Toro survives another day in the Maglia Rosa and gained more time to some of his rival after a crash that hit Lidl Trek mostly with Giulio Ciccone and some of his other team mates hitting the deck. Kasper Asgreen battled from the breakaway to a stage win the second one for EF Pro Cycling.
The second time trial produced a surprise winner of Daan Hoole the dutch national time trial champion from Lidl Trek who beat Josh Tarling by 7 seconds in a very changing time trial with bad weather and changing winds.
Primoz Roglic was the best of the GC riders and moved into 5th overall.
On the Strade Bianche style stage of the Giro it was Wout van Aert who managed to mastermind a victory with Isaac del Toro finishing second and sealing the Maglia Rosa while the other gc rivals had problems on the gravel with Pidcock and Roglic having a small crash that had a big influence.
On a uphill finish it was Juan Ayuso who made the decisive move to take the win but Primoz Roglic takes the Maglia Rosa from Mads Pedersen.

On the final day in Albania, it was Lidl Trek who controlled most of the day and set Mads Pedersen up for a perfect win and meant Primoz Roglic lost his Maglia Rosa but maybe a blessing in disguise for Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe.

The first time trial around the capital of Albania saw a close showdown between Primoz Roglic and Josh Tarling with a thin margin. Mads Pedersen was unable to defend the Maglia Rosa but remains within striking distance.

Paris-Roubaix 2025 will see the return of the 2-time defending champion Mathieu van der Poel who will be chasing history as will debutant Tadej Pogacar who could secure the famous Flanders-Roubaix double. Equally both Wout van Aert and Mads Pedersen will hope to get to the top step of the podium by the time the Roubaix Velodrome comes around.
Tadej Pogacar delivered a masterclass on the roads of Flanders with a weakened Mathieu van der Poel unable to follow the pace and it was Mads Pedersen who snatched a unlikely second place in the final moments and Mathieu van der Poel 3rd despite illness and a crash plus Wout van Aert salvaged a 4th place.
The Tour of Flanders might be a clash between the titans of Mathieu van der Poel, Tadej Pogacar, Wout van Aert and Mads Pedersen who have all been on the podium of the race before but can anyone challenge these cobblestone giants?

The big omission of the race is the pairing of both Mathieu van der Poel and Tadej Pogacar who will be focusing on their Tour of Flanders and Paris Roubaix preparation but will it be the defending champion Mads Pedersen who can add a third title to his palmares?
E3 Saxo Classic has a special place in the Classics season and in 2025 the whole of the 2023 podium will return to the race with Mathieu van der Poel, Tadej Pogacar and Wout van Aert. On that day in 2023 it was Wout van Aert who was the victor but Pogacar will look to replicate van der Poels achievement of last year and win the race as World Champion.
Mathieu van der Poel managed to complete the hat trick for Alpecin as he withstood the flurries of attacks of Pogacar on the Cipressa and Poggio in a race for the ages.
Jens Voigt is one of the most beloved and respected figures in professional cycling. Over a career spanning nearly two decades, the German rider became known for his aggressive racing style, relentless breakaways, and fearless attitude in the peloton. A multiple-time stage winner in the Tour de France, he famously wore the yellow jersey and played a crucial role as a domestique for some of the sport’s biggest names. Beyond his racing achievements, Voigt’s charismatic personality and trademark phrase—“Shut up, legs!”—made him a fan favorite. Since retiring, he has remained an influential figure in cycling, working as a commentator and ambassador for the sport.
Mathieu van der Poel was instrumental in denying Tadej Pogacar a chance at victory in 2024 but in 2025 the current World Champion will hope to finally clinch the victory but there are many rivals planning to deny him including Mads Pedersen, Filippo Ganna or even the runner up from last year Michael Matthews.
Tirreno-Adriatico 2025 will have plenty of big names in the race from Mathieu van der Poel to Jonathan Milan and Biniam Girmay and even in the GC contenders there will be Juan Ayuso, Adam Yates and Simon Yates in his first race for Team Visma Lease A Bike.

UAE Team Emirates dominated the races but how did the others match up?
Primoz Roglic did not start the 13th Stage of the Tour de France following a crash he was caught up in on Stage 12.
There were fireworks on the first mountain stage where UAE Team Emirates showed their strength and Tadej Pogacar attacked near the top of the climb and Jonas Vingegaard attempted to follow but the elastic snapped and Richard Carapaz was dropped as well.
On a very mundane stage of the Tour de France in Italy history was created as Biniam Girmay became the first Eritrean stage winner and Richard Carapaz the first ever Ecuadorian to wear the yellow jersey.

In the Giro d'Italia there were numerous of narratives from the different teams with Movistar seeking past glories with Nairo Quintana, Tadej Pogacar's first Giro and even Jonathan Milan trying to win the points jersey a second year in a row.
Stage 16 was altered so many times and produced a interesting battle between the break and GC group before Tadej Pogacar attacked seemingly with ease and no one could response.
The 31.2km time trial stage saw a battle between the GC riders and Filippo Ganna coming out on top after an intense challenge from Tadej Pogacar and plenty of movements in the Top 10 overall.
On one of the flattest stages of the Giro d'Italia the peloton encountered crosswinds but it ended with a masterclass lead out from Lidl Trek into the sprint for the fast men and Jonathan Milan getting his third victory of the race.

Julian Alaphilippe managed to get in the right move with Mirco Maestri and take a win which was his first grandtour win since 2021 and his first Giro d'Italia win. Bahrain Victorious caused a bit of a scare in the GC group splitting the group momentarily.
On another flat stage Visma Lease A Bike was given more bad news with Cian Uijtdebroeks out of the race and two of his team mates were in the break but the race ended in a sprint with a crash for Fabio Jakobsen and Tobias Lund Andresen while Jonathan Milan won in front of Tim Merlier and Kaden Groves.
It was a stage for the breakaway as Valentin Paret-Peintre dropped Romain Bardet and caught Jan Tratnik but a hard pace towards the end for the favourites and Cian Uijtdebroeks was the rider suffering the most from the big names and Antonio Tiberi gaining ground.
On a stage that seemed to have a chance for the breakaway UAE Team Emirates carved out another opportunity for Pogacar and the Maglia Rosa sealed another victory in only his first week at the Giro.

The time trial stage with a climb towards the finish shook up the general classification and Filippo Ganna was the red hot favourite but lost the stage win to Tadej Pogacar who put in a brilliant ride. Luke Plapp managed to take over the white jersey and Ben O'Connor moved up to 4th overall.
On the gravel stage of the Giro d'Italia 2024 it was the breakaway that got the better of the favourites with question marks over the tactics of UAE and Ineos Grenadiers partially.

On the first mountain stage to Oropa there were plenty of crashes and Andrea Piccolo was the sole breakaway rider for most of the second half of the stage as he had left the group and it was Tadej POgacar who won the stage after a disaster mechanical which caused a peculiar crash for the Slovenian.
Tadej Pogacar was trying to replicate MVDP by winning his first Giro d'Italia stage however an unknown quantity in the form of Jhonathan Narvaez took the stage win in a well executed sprint.

On the final day of Tirreno, the stage ended in a sprint off between Jasper Philipsen and Jonathan Milan. Richard Carapaz had more bad luck as he crashed hard and Uno X tried to disrupt the sprint trains.
On a mountain stage it was Visma Lease a bike who took control and it was Jonas Vingegaard who launched the decisive attack.

The fourth stage was another one with the fast men despite a tricky finish it was a pure sprint finish with the break almost staying away however it was Lidl-Trek's Jonathan Milan who powered away to a famous victory.
On the most challenging stage to some riders the peloton had a duel on the final climb between the favourites group and the breakaway but it was Santiago Buitrago who dropped Luke Plapp to take the win with Mattias Skjelmose outkicking Remco Evenepoel to take the third place.
On the flattest stage of the 2024 Paris Nice the big teams lost control of the peloton towards the finish and it was Tudor Pro Cycling who took advantage.
In the first stage of Tirreno–Adriatico 2024 it was a battle between the GC riders and the TT specialist but the headlines were early on from the horrendous and new TT Helmet from Visma Lease A Bike. It didnt aid them to win as that was taken by Juan Ayuso.
Paris Nice's opening stage went from sprint stage to GC day to sprint stage with Visma Lease A Bike coming out on top.

João Almeida had an incredible 2023, the Portugese was in the Top 10 on the WorldTour end of season ranking as early on he had podium places in both Tirreno and Volta ao Catalunya. Biniam Girmay had a mixed season in 2023, winning a stage of the Tour de Suisse but crashing on his birthday at the Tour of Flanders and the Tour de France he came close to win a stage on a number of occasions. EF had an interesting 2023 season with a bit of disappointment at the Tour de France as the new signing Richard Carapaz crashed on stage 1. Still, Neilson Powless had a good start to the season and Ben Healy was stellar in the Ardennes as well as winning a Giro d'italia stage win.
Plenty of new signings and could be a team to look out for in 2024.
The 2023 season was an emotional one for Bahrain Victorious with the tragic loss of Gino Mader.
The team were impressive at the Tour de France with several stage wins and a Top 10 overall with Pello Bilbao and will look to repeat that for 2024.
Matej Mohorič will be looking for success in the cobblestone classics and could well do so. The transfers were thin on the ground for the team with the star transfer being Torstein Traen from Uno-X but the team lost Mikel Landa to Soudal Quickstep and Jonathan Milan to Lidl Trek.

Soudal Quickstep had an interesting 2023 season with Remco Evenepoel taking stage wins in both the Giro and the Vuelta plus winning Liege Bastogne Liege and San Sebastian plus the World Time Trial Championships in the process.
They have brought in Mikel Landa to strengthen their mountain train as Fabio Jakobsen and Ethan Vernon go out the door.
In 2023, Ineos Grenadiers showcased commendable performances, with notable successes in the Tour de France and the Tour de France along with a multitude of victories even Strade Bianche with Tom Pidcock in an electric fashion.
The 2024 season looks optimistic with a number of the younger riders looking to step up to the plate and the arrival of Tobias Foss and a number of extensions could mean a more successful season than 2023. Josh Tarling is one of the most exciting talents in the sport and won the European Time Trial championships in his Neo pro season but a big year for the whole team.

Intermarché–Circus–Wanty did not have the same success as in 2022 but they had some decent performances for Rui Costa who won a stage at the Vuelta Espana and the Japan Cup in his final race for the team.
There were big ambitions for Biniam Girmay in 2023 but he had bad luck crashing at Tour of Flanders, however bouncing back at the Tour de Suisse to win a stage in front of Wout van Aert and at the Tour de France he was in the pointy end of several stages but just a bit unlucky not to win a stage. Nevertheless with another year he will be stronger than ever.
A mixed season for DSM in 2023 they managed 11 wins and finished 17th in the UCI Team Rankings.
The highlight was Alberto Dainese winning in both the Vuelta and the Giro d'Italia plus the team time trial victory. At the Giro d'Italia Andreas Leknessund managed to finish 8th overall and had a stint in the Maglia Rosa.
Sam Welsford was the best rider in terms of wins with 4 victories including the Renewi Tour. And the neo pro Max Poole got a Top 5 in the Tour de Romandie
Lidl-Trek had a strong 2023 season with Mads Pedersen as the headliner but for the 2024 season the team have brought in reinforcements in the form of Jonathan Milan, Tao Geoghegan Hart and more to make the squad more all-round.
Mads Pedersen had plenty of top results and will be looking for monument success and could be the rider to look for as well in the Tour de France.
Mattias Skjelmose equally will look to build on his 2023 success where he won the Tour de Suisse and second in Fleche Walloone.

Visma Lease a Bike formerly known as Jumbo Visma had a phenomenal 2023 winning all the three grandtours with Primoz Roglic, Jonas Vingegaard and Sepp Kuss. With all of them sharing the podium in the Vuelta. But the hunt for another monument for Wout van Aert will continue into 2024 and maybe in 2024 Vingegaard will repeat the Tour-Vuelta double appearance.

The official route for the 111th Tour de France was shown off on Wednesday at Paris's Palais des Congrès. Once again, race organisers ASO chose a path that favours climbers over riders on wheels. Around seven good chances are there for sprinters, and the scenery is good for puncheurs and baroudeurs. But as the race gets closer to its end, the focus shifts to the mountains. Five summit finishes is the highest number possible. At the end of the second week, Pla d'Adet and Plateau de Beille happen back-to-back in the Pyrenees. The following week, Superdévoluy, Isola 2000, and La Colmiane all happen in the Alps.
The INEOS Grenadiers had a successful 2023 cycling season, with victories at all levels of the sport. The team's biggest success came at the Tour de France, with Carlos Rodriguez finishing in the top 5 and winning a stage. Geraint Thomas was 2nd in a close Giro d'Italia

Col du Tourmalet was the test for the peloton and Jumbo Visma destroyed the field and Remco Evenepoel dropped out of contention while Jumbo managed to finish 1-2-3 on top of the mountain with Jonas Vingegaard the victor.
On an intense finish in Zaragoza it was a brilliant move by UAE Team Emirates that led to a win by Juan Sebastian Molano ahead of the fast sprint lead out from Alpecin for Kaden Groves. Primoz Roglic managed to gain some bonus seconds on his rivals but they all await the Col du Tourmalet on Stage 13.

On the only time trial stage for the riders of the vuelta Filippo Ganna was the fastest with a monstrous time trial that no one was able to compete with as Remco Evenepoel was the closet however Jonas Vingegaard lost a lot of time on his rivals and could now be reduced to helping Primoz Roglic and Sepp Kuss.

In a hectic sprint Geoffrey Soupe emerged as the unlikely winner after a series of crashes in which Sepp Kuss and Thymen Arensman were among the riders caught up and it could prove to weak both team's assault at La Vuelta.
In the intermediate sprint Jonas Vingegaard managed to pitch two bonus seconds.
On the second mountain test of the Vuelta, Sepp Kuss won the stage from a huge breakaway and Jumbo Visma in the favourites group put pressure on the climb with both Vingegaard and Roglic escaping up the road.

Stage 3 was the first mountain top finish for the Vuelta and it proved to be a grinding down process by Jumbo Visma and UAE Team Emirates however in the final moments Remco Evenepoel outsprinted the other favourites and won the stage however he was caught up with a crash with a spectator a few seconds later leaving the champion covered in blood.

The 2023 Tour de France is over, and there were plenty of teams who had incredible Tour but plenty who were left without much to write home about. UAE Team Emirates managed to win the white jersey again with Tadej Pogacar including a double podium with Adam Yates joining Pogacar. This year Jumbo Visma also managed to win the team classification.
On the final stage of the Tour de France 2023 it came down to a close sprint to the finish with Alpecin Deceuninck looking for a fifth victory however Jasper Philipsen was boxed in in the final moments and the victory went to Jordi Meeus.
On the final mountain stage of the Tour de France, the breakaway seemed to have a chance but the breakaway was brought back by UAE Team Emirates however Giulio Ciccone managed to win the Mountain Classification beforehand. In the finale, Tadej Pogačar attacked to thin the group and in the end won a sprint from a very select group including Jonas Vingegaard, Adam Yates, Simon Yates and Felix Gall.

Stage 19 was an aggressive went to the breakaway after 36 riders were distilled into a fast moving trio with Matej Mohoric beating Kasper Asgreen to the win and Uno-X missed out on the final selection but Jasper Philipsen picked up another 4th place after missing another breakaway move.

Stage 17 was the queen stage of the Tour de France 2023 and it seemed to be a breakaway day after a hard fought battle between the GC teams with Felix Gall coming out as the stage victor. However in the yellow jersey group Tadej Pogacar cracked on the lower slopes before the hard part of the climb and lost a lot of time to his rival Jonas Vingegaard by the finish.
On a 22.4km time trial there was the anticipated battle between Jonas Vingegaard and Tadej Pogacar with the rest of the riders as mere bystanders. The GC battle of the Top 15 shuffled a bit with Adam Yates taking over the 3rd place but Jonas Vingegaard won the stage with 1:38 down to Tadej Pogacar putting a huge buffer between himself and Tadej Pogacar.
On the final mountain stage before the final rest day, Wout Poels was able to drop Wout van Aert to win his first stage. UAE Team Emirates were unable to drop Jonas Vingegaard despite a numerical advantage and there were crashes on the descent with even Biniam Girmay and Egan Bernal plus the Jumbo Visma team caught up in a crash by a fan.

On another mountainous stage of the Tour de France 2023 there were plenty of crashes in the early part of the stage and another GC showdown on the final climb but it was Carlos Rodriguez who took the spoils in the end in front of Vingegaard and Pogacar.
On the beautiful Grand Colombier climb it came down to the wire as Michał Kwiatkowski won the stage from the breakaway however Tadej Pogačar made a mad dash for the line and dropped Jonas Vingegaard but it was not enough to take over the yellow jersey and the fight continues.
On the 12th stage of the Tour de France Cofidis managed to get their second stage victory in the Tour after Ion Izagirre timed the perfect attack and no one was able to close the gap. Mathieu van der Poel had been out in front earlier but was not able to sustain the gap on the final climb.
Jasper Philipsen once again showed he is the faster rider in the race even without the use of his lead out man Mathieu van der Poel taking the victory the fourth in the race. Wout van Aert was badly positioned so couldn't fight for the win equally Biniam Girmay was not placed in the best spot by his team
Stage 10 was a brutal stage as the breakaway was very aggressive, while Pello Bilbao managed to get away who was a threat to the general classification as well. Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert attack on a downhill but the move didnt last long in the finale it was Pello Bilbao who won the stage and gained places in the GC as well.

Jonas Vingegaard was out for more glory and managed with the help of his Jumbo Visma team to isolate most of the other leaders before Attila Valter flicked the elbow and Vingegaard inflicted the devastating blow. Adam Yates was the best of the rest and Victor Campenaerts takes of the polka dot jersey and Max Poole in the white.
On a day for the breakaway before the mountains, Georg Zimmerman of Intermache Circus Wanty managed to take the victory. Vingegaard manages to counter any moves, however there was some key contenders losing time such as David Gaudu and Mikel Landa.
In a hilly stage it seemed to be a calm day for the GC teams however that quickly changed as Alaphilippe and Carapaz attacked. Jonas Vingegaard responded and dropped everyone before winning the stage solo. Mikkel Bjerg had a badly timed crash and lost the jersey to his fellow countryman.
It was a rolling time trial and Mikkel Bjerg managed to win his first ever world tour win in front of fellow dane Jonas Vingegaard but the defending Tour de France is in the prime position for the general classification win.
The 2023 Tour de Suisse offers an alternative to the French chaos of the Dauphiné. This year, we are set to see a re-match of the Giro d'Italia with Remco Evenepoel and Primož Roglič on the startline. Supported by a cast of Biniam Girmay, Wout van Aert, Juan Ayuso and Filippo Ganna, this year's Tour de Suisse could be an interesting affair.

The 2023 Giro d'Italia had plenty of narratives but which teams had a better race and which had a blunder. But Jumbo Visma and UAE Team Emirates can be seen as two of the best performers and potentially Team Arkea Samsic as one of the worst. Geraint Thomas and Ineos Grenadiers only missed out by 14 seconds on the win.
Mark Cavendish managed to add another Giro stage to his incredible palmares and saved Astana's Giro d'Italia with an impressive performance in the final sprint in Rome.

The final time trial was an aggressive and tough time trial and it was Primoz Roglic who managed to overcome a technical incident and win the overall Giro ahead of Geraint Thomas by 14 seconds. Almeida sealed his podium sport while Thibaut Pinot managed to move up into 5th place overall and sealing his mountain classification as well.
Another mountain stage ripped up the general classification as Almeida lost time on Thomas and Roglic but the stage honours went to Filippo Zana who outsprinted Thibaut Pinot at the finish however the frenchman managed to claw himself into top 10 overall and take the blue jersey back as well.
Stage 17 was a flat affair with a breakaway dominating the action for the majority of the race but the sprint towards the finish produced a nail-biting finish with the Italians Dainese and Milan separate by only a few centimetres on the line.

Stage 16 was a mountain top finish that delivered as Jumbo Visma put the pressure on the race to thin out the favourites group. When Bruno Armirail dropped the pressure increased and it seemed to be Geraint Thomas and Joao Almeida who were the strongest whereas Primoz Roglic was dropped and left to scramble to the finish. He narrowly beat one of the stars of the day Eddie Dunbar.
Stage 15 into Bergamo was another one for the breakaway with Ben Healy and Brandon McNulty the riders filtering to the top in the battle for the stage win. Almeida and Roglic tried to get a gc battle going but the attacks were nullified.
Stage 14 was yet another breakaway with the German Nico Denz managing to come through in the final moments to take a second stage win. Meanwhile, Ineos Grenadiers lost the Maglia Rosa to Bruno Armirail of Groupama FDJ and became the first French rider to wear the jersey since Laurent Jalabert in 1999.

The Shortened Stage 13 produced some breakaway drama as Pinot was angry with his Aouth American companions of Cepeda and Rubio but ultimately the French rider saw himself lose to Rubio in the sprint but he did manage to take back the Mountains Classification and dip into Top 10 Overall. The general classification was somewhat neutralised as there was no big moves by the favourites.
Stage 12 was an easier one for the breakaway as they let a 30-man group disappear up the road. The biggest drama for the peloton was a crash that involved DSM and Jack Haig but for the win it was down to Nico Denz and Toms Skuijins and the german came out on top in the end.
A seemingly boring stage turned into a nightmare for Ineos Grenadiers as most of the team crashed and Tao Geoghegan Hart abandoned the race but in the remainder part of the stage UAE Team Emirates managed to secure the stage win with Pascal Ackermann narrowly beating a rampant Jonathan Milan.
Soudal Quickstep also lost four more riders who abandoned and now only down to three.
A very wet day so plenty of abandonments and non-starters including Remco Evenepoel and Aleksandr Vlasov as the headlines. The breakaway managed to keep the peloton from a sprint stage and Magnus Cort Nielsen was victorious beating Derek Gee to the win. Geraint Thomas also enjoyed his first day in the Maglia Rosa.

On the longest time trial stage of the Giro, Remco Evenepoel took the expected win but only by ONE SECOND over a rampant Geraint Thomas. Primoz Roglic slipped down in the overall ranking and unfortunately, the maglia rosa stint for Andreas Leknessund ended but he managed to stay inside the Top 5 overall.
Another stage for the breakaway and it was Ben Healy of EF Education Easypost who was the strongest and managed to solo to the finish by 50km while in the favourites group it was Primoz Roglic who put in the decisive attack that opened gaps in the general classification while Remco Evenepoel struggled to follow.
It was a day for the breakaway as the pro-conti teams battled for the stage win and the favourites took a calm day as no one challenged Remco Evenepoel.
The 6th stage of the Giro d'Italia 2023 was a stage around Napoli it almost show a breakaway head away with the victory however in the end it came down to the sprint with Mads Pedersen taking the victory. But both Primoz Roglic and Geraint Thomas.
A stage with plenty of crashes including two crashes involving Remco Evenepoel but the more serious one came in the final sprint and involved Mark Cavendish among a number of other riders.

On the third stage of the Giro d'Italia it was a wet affair with many of the teams setting the pace the slopes of the two categorised climbs but Michael Matthews and Mads Pedersen were in contention for the win as both Jayco Allua and Trek Segafredo dismantled the peloton and Thibaut Pinot took over the mountains jersey.

Stage 2 was not the most exciting however the final sprint was heated and tensed with a crash happening within the last 5km and the resulting chaos produced an outside winner of Jonathan Milan who won the ensuing sprint ahead of David Dekker.
Remco Evenepoel proved to deliver on his status as the favourite with a heroic ride on the Adriatic coast with Roglic struggling to deliver but Ineos Grenadiers had a promising result with Tao Geoghegan Hart and Almeida finished high up as well.

The 2023 Giro d'italia is looking to be an epic showdown between the World Champion Remco Evenepoel and Primoz Roglic both bidding to win the Giro for the first time in their careers. However, Ineos Grenadiers are sending a strong lineup to support former champion Tao Geoghegan Hart and also defending champions Bora Hansgrohe will be wanting to do the same as last year this time with Aleksandr Vlasov. But who will be on top and clinch the beautiful infinity trophy?
Remco Evenepoel was the overwhelming favourite after Tadej Pogacar was forced to abandoned the race after a crash early in the race. Remco Evenepoel dispatched the other contenders in a similar fashion to last year to claim the win.
The Tour de Romandie 2023 offers a chance for another GC contender to take a stage win free from the pressures of Pogacar, Roglic, Evenepoel and Vingegaard. With Simon and Adam Yates as the favourites, it should be an interesting week. However, it's hard to look past the likes of Luke Plapp, Romain Bardet, Damiano Caruso and others.
Tadej Pogačar will be the favourite for the oldest monument but will anyone be able to challenge him with no Primoz Roglic and a weak Julian Alaphilippe it could be an exciting edition, but with a strong Remco Evenepoel in the ranks for Soudal Quickstep
Tadej Pogačar took a predictable victory but there was some controversial moments in the race. But he was ultimately able to overcome both Ben Healy and Tom Pidcock who also finished on the podium.

Tadej Pogačar will be debuting the Amstel Gold Race but is one of the favourite despite this considering his form none of his rivals from the pointy end of the Tour of Flanders. However Julian Alaphilippe will look to finally win the race as will Tiesj Benoot and even Tom Pidcock who have all been on the podium in previous editions.
Paris-Roubaix 2023 was characterised by Alpecin-Deceuninck's tactical masterclass on the cobbles of Northern France. Mathieu van der Poel and Jasper Philipsen out-played Wout van Aert's rigid Jumbo-Visma in emphatic fashion. Among the chaos, we also saw a dramatic finale filled with punctures and a big crash from John Degenkolb.
Paris Roubaix is one of the most brutal races on the calendar and this year it could be a showdown between Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert for the win after they have both featured on the podium in previous editions. Mathieu van der Poel could be part of a very elite club with 3 victories in the race as he hasn't finished outside the top 2 since 2019. However, Wout van Aert has shown strong form by winning the E3 Saxobank Classic and he gifted the victory in Gent-Wevelgem to Christophe Laporte. The third favourite is last year's disgruntled 4th place finisher Tadej Pogacar who has looked imperious at the beginning of the season and could be in with a win or a podium at least.

An exciting edition of Milan San Remo with a boatload of favourites was settled on the top of the Poggio as Mathieu van der Poel put the other big names to the sword. However, Filippo Ganna was the surprise who managed to sprint to a second place on the day and Wout van Aert third.
The Volta a Catalunya 2023 has a very competitive field with the crossover of some of the Giro d'Italia favourites and the Tour de France favourites clashing. Notably, it will see a rematch of the Vuelta a Espana last year with strong riders such as Richard Carapaz, Joao Almeida, Remco Evenepoel and Primoz Roglic all in attendance.

Bora Hansgrohe enjoyed a successful 2022 season following the departure of team superstar Peter Sagan. Hindley won the Giro. In addition, Vlasov finished top 5 in the Tour de France and won the Tour de Romandie while Higuita won the Volta a Catalunya.
The 2023 season could be another exciting chapter as Hindley heads to the Tour and Vlasov to the Giro d'Italia 2023.
Astana has led the stories with transfers in recent weeks as they cut ties to Miguel Angel Lopez and have replaced him with another star Mark Cavendish who will be looking to take one more Tour de France victory at least to break the record of the great Eddy Merckx. Elsewhere, Alexey Lutsenko and Gianni Moscon will hope to improve on their results in the 2022 season in 2023.

Intermarché–Wanty–Gobert have come a long way in a couple of seasons and in 2022 they took a huge step in the grand tours and the rise of Biniam Girmay, the superstar in the making, propelled them forward, so the team should be very ambitious with the new 2023 season.
Ineos Grenadiers had a rough start to the 2022 season after losing Bernal to injury however they managed to win plenty of races including Amstel Gold and Paris Roubaix. Giro success with Carapaz who almost won it and in the Tour de France Tom Pidcock won on Alpe d'huez and Geraint Thomas finished on the podium.
But the squad will miss Dylan van Baarle and Richard Carapaz in the 2023 season.
EF Education Easypost had an underwhelming 2022 season despite a Tour de France stage win with Magnus Cort Nielsen however they will hope their fortunes will change with the signing of superstar Richard Carapaz for the 2023 season.
Team Jumbo Visma had an incredible 2022 winning the Tour de France along with the polka dot jersey and the green jersey. Primoz Roglic is however the question mark for 2022, where will he end up the Giro d'Italia or perhaps the Tour de France?
Team Jumbo Visma also strengthened the team with Wilco Kelderman, Dylan van Baarle and Attila Valter.

Richard Carapaz managed to seal the polka dot jersey and his stage-winning hat-trick as well as Remco Evenepoel sealed a historic Vuelta title for the young Belgian superstar
Primoz Roglic and Fred Wright crashed in the Vuelta and that ultimately made the 3-time champion abandon but now Jumbo Visma have released a team statement from both Primoz Roglic and Richard Plugge about the incident.
After a destructive ride on stage 10 of the 2022 Vuelta a Espana, Remco Evenepoel has extended his lead in the race's GC. With over 2 minutes of a lead to 2nd place Primoz Roglic, Remco Evenepoel is firmly in the driving seat to win this Grand Tour. Is it already done and dusted?
Stage 6 proved to be a shake up in the GC as the Vuelta debutant Remco Evenepoel put pressure on Primoz Roglic and others meanwhile Jay Vine took a fantastic victory for Alpecin-Deceuninck their first mountain top win in a Grandtour.
The Tour de L’Avenir starts on the 18th August with a star-studded field with numerous world tour riders, including Cian Uijtdebroeks.
10 Stages in total, beginning with a 4km prologue, and the first hilly stage is on Stage 4 and Stage 5. The teams will have a 28km Team Time Trial on their hands before another hilly stage, followed by the first rest day.
After the rest day, things get interesting. Stage 7 Thonon-les-Bains to Saint-François-Longchamp finishes up the Col de la Madeleine at 15.3km averaging 8%.
Stage 8 is a short 100km stage however it includes 3,100 meters of climbing starting from Ugine and finishing at La Toussuire - Les Sybelles. The riders will have to tackle the Col de Madeleine full length at 24.7km averaging 6.1%, before the final climb to La Toussuire at 15.5km averaging 7%.
The final stage is another climbing affair as the riders will have 4 categorised climbs and one HC categorised climb crested at 2770m, the Col de L’Iseran at 12.8km and 7.3% average. The riders have a long descent before a 4.9km climb averaging at 6.4% to the finish, and we will know our champion.
Last year Dan Bigham broke the British Hour Record in Grenchen and this year he has his sights on the World Hour Record and will do so again in the Swiss Velodrome in Grenchen.
The 77th La Vuelta will start in Utrecht and will see a heated battle between Jumbo Visma, Ineos Grenadiers and Bahrain Victorious for the top step of the podium. After an intriguing season filled with thrills and spills, all eyes will be on Spain for a final hoorah before the season folds.

With this title, Jonas becomes the second Danish rider to win the Tour de France, joining the hall of fame with Bjarne Riis who won back in 1996. As Vingegaard and Jumbo-Visma celebrate deep into the Parisian night, we ask the question...how did Jonas Vingegaard win the Tour de France?

The final time trial was a 40.7km affair that came down to a battle between Wout van Aert, Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard for the stage honours.
Stage 19 was a flat affair but it proved to be an amazing day for Christophe Laporte who capped off an incredible year in his first season with Jumbo Visma. And he ended the french draught for a win in the 2022 Tour de France.
Stage 18 finished up the Hautcam and it proved to be an impressive stage for Jumbo Visma as they were tactically clear, using their number advantage against the depleting UAE Team Emirates.
Tadej Pogačar and UAE Team Emirates put it all on the line as they tried to grind down Jumbo Visma and isolate Jonas Vingegaard but the Dane was up to the task and managed to not get dropped after an incredible turn by Brandon McNulty.
Hugo Houle made history by becoming the first canadian winner since 1988 but the fight for yellow was not a straight forward one as plenty of riders couldnt survive the blows.
On the rest day of the Tour de France there will always be rumours and transfer confirmations for the following season. Mark Cavendish has been one of the big speculations as the British Star was snubbed from the Tour de France squad and the manx missile has options on the table.
Stage 15 on paper was a straightforward stage however it proved to be much more complicated as Jumbo Visma suffered a lot of bad luck and it resulted in a close call to Jonas Vingegaard as well.
Stage 13 was a transitional stage following the Alpe d'Huez and Mads Pedersen managed to outpower the rest of the breakaway to seal the third danish victory of the 2022 tour de france.
Jonas Vingegaard just made history and becomes the first Danish rider to wear the yellow jersey and won the stage.
Protests happened at the Tour but Stage 10 was one for the breakaway and Magnus Cort Nielsen was the rider who came out on top.
The breakaway were given the green light for the victory by UAE Team Emirates following RIgoberto Uran losing ground and it was an enthralling win by Bob Jungels.
Stage 7 of the Tour de France offered the first summit finish of this year's race at the Super Planche des Belles Filles. In a tight contest between Vingegaard and Pogacar in the final 50 metres, it looks like Pogacar is streets ahead of the Tour de France #tdf2022
Longwy proved to be a stunning finish and Tadej Pogačar managed to outpower all his rivals on the finish.
Plenty of questions in the direction of his rivals Jumbo Visma and Ineos Grenadiers.
The cobbles of France proved to be a stern test for many riders but the miracle win from Simon Clarke was a welcome return on their winter investment for Israel Premier Tech.

The 4th stage in the Tour de France proved to be a more exciting one than its somewhat flat profile from Dunkirk to Calais as Jumbo Visma put in a devastating team attack that left many riders scrambling but ultimately it was Wout van Aert that benefited and disappeared off the front.
Wout van Aert won his first stage of the 2022 Tour de France and continued his phenomenal consistency in this years Tour and opened up a huge gap of 61 points in the green jersey competition down to Fabio Jakobsen.
The final stage in Denmark produced a warm day for the riders that ended with a frantic sprint and Wout van Aert finishing second once again third time in a row.
Stage 2 of the Tour de France 2022 was a sprinters affair from Roskilde to Nyborg. This stage offered the chance of crosswind chaos, but in reality the Great Belt Bridge posed no difficulties. The headlines of the stage were, instead, focussed around Wout van Aert and Fabio Jakobsen. Should Jakobsen have been disqualified for his dangerous move with Sagan in the final sprint?

The final Giro d'Italia stage of 2022 concluded in Verona with a time trial and Matteo Sorbero managed to clinch a third victory for Team Bikeexhange Jayco but more importantly Jai Hindley secured his overall in the Giro d'Italia thereby making history.
Jai Hindley may be on the verge of becoming the first Australian winner of the Giro d'Italia. It will feel like deja vu as he is in the Maglia rosa on the final stage which is a time trial like in 2020 but it is a different Hindley.
After an steady fight in the GC, Portugal's star João Almeida has been forced to retire from the 2022 Giro d'Italia. The cause of this sudden abandonment: COVID. Yes, Almeida has had to leave the race following a positive test on the morning of stage 18 of the Giro in Treviso. Jumbo Visma rescued their Giro d'Italia with a stage victory in Potenza and Tom Dumoulin was an instrumental part in it.
Stage 5 produced a tense battle between the sprinter's teams and Caleb Ewan and Mark Cavendish were dropped on the climb and FDJ did there best to put Arnaud Demare in a perfect scenario and the french star delivered.
Mount Etna saw Lennard Kamna take the victory and Mathieu van der Poel lose the Maglia Rosa to Juan Pedro Lopez of Trek Segafredo and Miguel Angel Lopez abandoned.
Simon Yates produced the fastest time around Budapest and the shock of the day as the British GC contender was quicker even than Tom Dumoulin but Mathieu van der Poel managed to retain the Maglia Rosa for yet another day.
Mathieu van der Poel and Biniam Girmay are two of the most exciting debutants of the Giro d'Italia in recent time and they showed that they both mean business as they duked it out in the closing moments of Stage 1 of the Giro but unfortunately Caleb Ewan crashed in the finale.

The Tour de France will begin for the first time in Scandinavia and more specifically in Copenhagen. The route will see the inclusion of a pave stage on Stage 5 and also the return of Alpe d'Huez and even the Hautacam with many climbs to climb before they finish in Paris.
The route will also venture into Switzerland and has a total of 53km of time trialling with the final time trial on the penultimate stage.
Matej Mohorič attacked heroically on the Poggio descent to upset the pre-race favourites of Tadej Pogacar and Wout van Aert. This is the Bahrain's outfit's second win in the monument.

The final stage of Paris-Nice almost turned out to be an upset as Simon Yates attacked on the final categorised and Roglic had to rely on Wout van Aert not to lose the jersey again on the final stage but the Jumbo Visma rider prevailed.
The 7th stage saw the Queen stage of the race and Jumbo Visma rose to the occasion with a solid team effort to setup Primož Roglič in the best position to take glory.
Ineos and Arkea Samsic did their best and Joao Almeida made a resurgence in the GC to climb into the top 10 and take the white jersey.
Ineos Grenadiers announce changes to both their Giro and Tour de France teams after Egan Bernal's training crash. With Adam Yates to lead the Tour de France team and Richard Carapaz to return to the Giro d'Italia for the first time since his win in 2019.
Stage 4 was a short lumpy time trial stage and Jumbo Visma managed for the second time in the Paris Nice to take a full podium with Van Aert, Roglic and Dennis.
Wout van Aert took over the leaders' jersey so could change the team dynamics.
Stage 3 provided to be a easier day that Stage 2 as the peloton stayed more together and Trek Segafredo managed to end their winless streak at the Race to the Sun and Movistar managed to plenty of work that didnt benefit them in the end.
Laporte the race leader took a tumble but still retains the jersey for another day at least.
It was a crosswind chaos stage as the peloton towards Orleans but it was Fabio Jakobsen that prevailed ahead of Wout van Aert.
There were big time losses for some of the big GC favourites including Joao Almeida, David Gaudu and Maximilian Schachmann.

The first stage of Paris Nice looked to be a comfortable one for the GC favourites but Jumbo Visma had different ideas on the final climb which was only 1.2 km long at an average of 7%.
Laporte, Van Aert and Roglic formed an elite team trial team to up the gap to more than 20 seconds and Laporte took the victory ahead of his two team-mates.
Tadej Pogačar adds another race to his impressive palmares in a exciting edition of Strade Bianche and thereby became the first Slovenian winner and also the 2nd youngest winner overall.
The Race of the Two seas will have an increasing narrative this year with no high mountain finishes so could force a more punchy race with favourites such as the defending champion Tadej Pogacar and Remco Evenepoel looking to put on a show.
Paris-Nice 2021 had a dramatic conclusion last year with Primož Roglič crashing on the final stage but the superstar is back to try to stop Maximillian Schachmann from clinching a hat-trick of general classification wins at Paris-Nice. Aleksandr Vlasov and Joao Almeida will also be two of the key contenders for the top step of the podium.

The 16th edition of Strade Bianche will not include Wout van Aert nor Mathieu van der poel on the start line but Tom Pidcock, Gianni Moscon, Tadej Pogacar and even Tom Dumoulin are some of the riders that will line up on the startline in Siena.
Tadej Pogačar managed to win for the first time up Jebel Jais with the support of his strong team-mates of Joao Almeida and Rafa Majka.
Luke Plapp showed some solid form and Filippo Ganna surprised everyone finishing 11th on the stage to only drop to 2nd overall on the GC.
The 9km course produced a somewhat surprise as the most successful time trialist since 2019 did not take the win in the form of Filippo Ganna but moreover Stefan Bissegger tasted success for the first time in 2022.

EF Education-Nippo become EF Education-EasyPost for 2022 season and have brought on a lot of talent in the transfer season including Mark Padun, Esteban Chaves, James Shaw and a number of other riders that will make for an exciting year.
Michael Valgren and Magnus Cort will be targeting the 2022 Tour de France start in Denmark and Hugh Carthy might want to get a higher result in the Giro d'Italia.
Team Arkéa Samsic have been given all the wildcards to most of the World Tour events for the 2022 season. Nairo Quintana will have general classification ambitions in one of the Grandtours. Equally Connor Swift will look to step up from his Tro Bro Leon victory in 2021 for Monument success as well in 2022.
The 2022 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships will be held on 29 and 30 January 2022 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA.
But unfortunately there will be no Wout van Aert or Mathieu van der Poel winning for the first time since 2014 for various reasons so it looks like Tom Pidcock is thrusted into the new favourites role after a superb 2021-2022 season so far which has included 2 World Cup wins and plenty of podiums.
UAE Team Emirates was one of the most exciting teams in 2021 courtesy of a supremely dominant Tadej Pogačar who defended his Tour de France title and also added two monuments to his palmares.
Despite losing Alexander Kristoff in the Transfer Market they have reinforced the team with João Almeida, Pascal Ackermann and Marc Soler to name a few.
But how will this star studded team do in 2022?
The new season is almost upon us and we thought it was time for a fresh set of predictions of the 5 Monuments and 3 Grandtours plus the rainbow jerseys. Maybe João Almeida will be able to win the 2022 Giro d'Italia starting in Budapest or Primož Roglič will win the Yellow jersey ahead of Tadej Pogačar. Or maybe even Wout van Aert will get to wear the rainbow jersey on the road as well?

Primoz Roglic had a bad 2021 Tour de France but will be looking to come back stronger to crack his countryman Tadej Pogacar. Jumbo Visma will no doubt bring a solid team to back-up their star GC asset with Wout van Aert, Sepp Kuss and Jonas Vingegaard likely to be part of it and the 2022 Tour de France Route looks like it could suit Roglic as well.
Wout van Aert began his cyclocross campaign with a bang in the Super-prestige Boom Round but can the Belgian superstar continue this form to take the top step of the cyclocross world once again?
The 2021 WorldTour season saw some amazing individual and team performances, with the likes of Bahrain Victorious firing on all cylinders and UAE Team Emirates becoming less of a one man show.
Ineos Grenadiers had a solid 2021 season with many victories but falling a bit short in the Tour de France with Richard Carapaz taking the 3rd place overall.
However this does not take the shine away from a great season dominating the Giro d'Italia with Egan Bernal. They managed to win the Volta a Catalunya with Adam Yates, Tour de Suisse with Richard Carapaz, Tour du Romandie with Geraint Thomas and the Criterium du Dauphine with Richie Porte.
Tom Pidcock had an incredible neo-pro season almost winning the Amstel Gold Race.
Bahrain Victorious has arguably been the most exciting team of 2021 with stage wins in all three grandtours and Sonny Colbrelli even won Paris Roubaix to cap off the season. Matej Mohorič won stages in the Tour de France and Damiano Caruso surprised by finishing 2nd overall in the Giro d'Italia and winning stage 20 plus a stage in the Vuelta a Espana as well.
Bahrain Victorious managed to win the team classification in both the Tour de France and in La Vuelta plus in the Vuelta Gino Mader finished 5th and Jack Haig 3rd overall.

Speculations over Tadej Pogačar potentially attempting the Giro d'Italia and Tour de France double in one season were answered with the UAE Team Emirates superstar pushing the feat back at least to 2023 but the question remains can he be the first rider since Marco Pantani in 1998 to achieve it?
Astana had a dramatic 2021 with plenty of uncertain events off the bike with sponsors, staff structure and the possibility of the team folding.
However their GC star Vlasov managed to ride a solid Giro d'Italia to finish 4th overall and the Kazak superstar Alexey Lutsenko made his grandtour debut as a GC leader and managed to finish inside the Top 10.
The new season could be an interesting one with the return of Vincenzo Nibali and Miguel Angel Lopez plus the team's woeful results in the Monuments could be a thing of the past with the signing of the controversial rider Gianni Moscon who almost took the win in Paris Roubaix in 2021.
Luke Lamperti is just 18-years old and has already made a name for himself winning the National Pro Crit title in 2021 and also doing well in the Tour of Britain in 2021 as well racing for the exciting Trinity Racing, so a lot of potential for the young champion and star in the making.

The 2021 season has produced some incredible moments and turned some riders from stars into superstars and other have not quite hit the mark so we go through the biggest names in cycling and rank them according to their results in 2021.
DSM had a mixed year, bringing in French superstar Romain Bardet who managed to perform well in the Giro d'Italia and winning a stage in the Vuelta.
But unfortunately for DSM the team will be losing Michael Storer to FDJ and Jai Hindley to Bora-Hansgrohe but they have managed to bring in the talented Frederik Rodenberg and former Sunweb rider John Degenklob for what could be an interesting 2022 for the team
Vasilis Anastopoulos was the first Pro Greek rider and has gone on to become a coach at both SEG Racing Academy and in 2019 joined Quickstep where he has been a coach ever since.
Vasilis Anastopoulos has been the coach of Mark Cavendish in 2021 and also part of the effort to bring back the Tour of Hellas to the pro cycling calendar in 2022.
Trek Segafredo had a decent 2021 with multiple wins across the board in different races, and the best result was Jasper Stuyven's maiden monument win at Milan San Remo plus Bauke Mollema won a stage at the Tour de France.
Giulio Ciccone was unlucky to not finish inside the top 10 of either the Giro d'Italia or Vuelta a Espana.
Vincenzo Nibali also bids farewell to the team as the Italian legend returns to Astana.
Deceuninck–Quick-Step had an incredible 2021 which had the narrative of three comeback stories - Mark Cavendish, Remco Evenepoel and Fabio Jakobsen.
Mark Cavendish managed to take 4 historic stage wins at the Tour de France to equal the all time stage winning record of 34 stage wins that only Eddy Merckx could match.
Remco Evenepoel started his season at the Giro d'Italia after his Il Lombardia crash in 2020. Despite a bad start to the season he did manage to win the Belgium Tour, Tour of Denmark and Paris Bourges to name a few. Fabio Jakobsen managed to take the Vuelta a Espana points classification as well as winning 3 Vuelta stages.
João Almeida managed to salvage a 6th place overall at the Giro d'italia after a bad start and he also recorded his first stage race victories winning the Tour of Poland overall and the Tour of Luxembourg.
Unfortunately they are losing key riders such as João Almeida (UAE), Sam Bennett (Bora) and Álvaro José Hodeg (UAE).

Israel Start-Up Nation bolstered their squad for their second year on the World Tour and they managed to take a total of 17 wins.
In the Giro d'Italia the team impressed with a stage win from Dan Martin plus a 10th place overall and David Cimolai managed to finish 2nd on two occasions and Alessandro De Marchi had two days in the Maglia Rosa. In the Monuments Mike Woods did well and Sepp van Marcke recorded a 5th place in the Tour of Flanders.
Tadej Pogačar had an incredible year winning the UAE Tour, Tirreno Adriactico and the Tour de France plus two monuments in the form of Liege Bastogne Liege and Il Lombardia. Notable is also the transfers they brought in so it could be a very interesting 2022 for the team.

James Shaw had an incredible season in 2021 with Ribble Weldtite, managing to be visible at the Nationals in Lincoln, Top 5 overall in both the Tour of Slovenia and Tour of Norway plus in the mix in the Tour of Britain.
James will continue his career on the Worldtour in 2022 returning for the first time since leaving Lotto Soudal.
EF Education Nippo came in with a lot of expectation to 2021 with Hugh Carthy finishing 3rd in the Vuelta Espana in 2020. Magnus Cort Nielsen impressed in the 2021 Vuelta with 3 stage wins but in the Tour de France the team unfortunately saw the collapse of Rigoberto Uran but he salvaged a 10th overall.
Bora Hansgrohe's 2021 season will be the final year with Peter Sagan and his entourage. Sagan matched to win a stage in the Giro d'Italia but unfortunately could not regain the Green Jersey in the Tour de France. Wilco Kelderman however impressed with a 5th place in the Tour de France and Nils Politt managed to take a stage win as well.

Intermarché–Wanty–Gobert Matériaux were debutants at the World Tour in 2021 but managed to take a win in the Giro d'Italia with Taco Van Der Hoorn and in the Vuelta a Espana Rein Taaramäe won a stage furthermore wore the leader's jersey. A feat his team mate Odd Christian Eiking also managed to do.

Movistar had a disappointing 2020 with only 2 wins so they were hoping for a better 2021 and they managed that with 15 wins plus a Vuelta a Espana podium place but the narrative that the season might be remembered for is the quitting of Miguel Angel Lopez in the Vuelta and ultimately prematurely ended his contract with the Spanish side.
For the 2022 season they have brought in reinforcements in the form of Ivan Sosa, Alex Aranburu, Max Kanter and Gorka Izaguirre.

Sonny Colbrelli managed to do the unthinkable and win Paris-Roubaix on his first attempt plus one of the most gruelling editions of the recent editions of the race.
Sonny Colbrelli has been one of the stars of the late season and has become more of an all round rider so the question here is could he perhaps do the somewhat unthinkable and win all the monuments of cycling?
Paris-Roubaix will return after no edition in 2020 and the Hell of the North has a star studded field with Mathieu van der Poel, Wout van Aert, Jasper Stuyven and Kasper Asgreen all keen to add the Queen of the Classics to their palmares. The defending champion Philippe Gilbert will be leading Lotto Soudal with another former champion John Degenklob. Peter Sagan who won in 2018 will be looking for a last top performance before leaving Bora Hansgrohe.

The 88th World Road Race will be held in Flanders and it could be a clash of the titans with Wout van Aert and Mathieu van der Poel with the defending champion Julian Alaphilippe also looking to defend his title from Imola.
The Danish squad are led by Kasper Asgreen with several strong cards such as Michael Valgren and Magnus Cort Nielsen.
Filippo Ganna was looking to deny Flanders a first ever Belgian winner in the Time trial discipline for the men and did so with Wout van Aert 2nd and Remco Evenepoel in third.
Egan Bernal has been rumoured to Israel Start Up Nation in a freak story but would the Colombian even fit in the Israeli team and be as dominant?
Equally it looks set that James Shaw's absence from the World Tour is over with EF Education Nippo being rumoured to be the destination for the Ribble-Weldtite star.
Wout van Aert and Filippo Ganna will look to repeat their showdown from Imola last year and this year the form looks to be on the side of the Belgian star.

Michael Storer attempted to complete his Hat-trick but unfortunately it was not to be.
Miguel Angel Lopez took his first Vuelta stage win since 2017 and managed to get his most important win to date for his Movistar team in his first year with them. Primoz Roglic showed his imperious form to drop his rivals.
Egan Bernal and Primoz Roglic became temporary allies but they were not able to last to the top of the climb as Egan Bernal was dropped and brought by Bahrain Victorious.
Ineos Grenadiers are struggling to handle Primoz Roglic and his Jumbo Visma team but it seems with the abandonment of Richard Carapaz they are looking like a defeated side.

The 9th stage of the 2021 Vuelta a Espana was a tale of two riders: Damiano Caruso and Primoz Roglic. Roglic sailed away with Mas to place a knife in the back of Egan Bernal's Ineos-Grenadiers whilst Damiano Caruso pulled off a whale of a ride to go solo for 71k to prove that he isn't just a one tour wonder.

Primoz Roglic crushed the heart of Alex Aranburu as the two-time defending champion began the Vuelta as he left it by winning. Mikel Landa was the big loser in the GC and this opens up an interesting Vuelta.
Andreas Kron is riding his first season with Lotto Soudal on the Worldtour and will debut at this years Vuelta. The young dane has already taken stage wins this season in the Volta a Catalunya and Tour de Romandie.

Stage 4 of the 2021 Tour de France was an emotional affair, to say the least as Mark Cavendish of Deceuninck Quickstep took the win from a bunch sprint for the first time in 5 years at the Tour. After a dramatic finale involving Brent van Moer, Cavaenidhs couldn't have won in more theatrical style.

The Amstel Gold Race was first created in 1966 by Dutch sports promoters Ton Vissers and Herman Krott, who also ran a company called Inter Sport. The race will be another dynamic as Mathieu Van der Poel will not be present nor will 4-time winner Philippe Gilbert. But Primoz Roglic will debut and so will Tom Pidcock.

2021 is Attila Valter’s second season on the World Tour but first year with his new team Groupama FDJ. Valter grabbed headlines as he won the penultimate stage of the 2019 Tour de L’Avenir riding for the Hungarian national team. Despite a chaotic global time in his first season with CCC in 2020, Valter still managed to win his home tour the Tour of Hungary and even debuted in his first Giro D’Italia where he finished 27th.

The 56th Edition of Tirreno Adriatico will return to its usual place in the calendar and this will showcase 7 stages between the Tyrrhenian and Adriatic coasts. Defending champion Simon Yates is returning along with 2-time champions Nairo Quintana and Vincenzo Nibali plus the two latest Tour de France champions Tadej Pogačar and Egan Bernal as well.
