As a working mum, your time is often drawn in multiple directions. In this episode, I chat about how connection impacts:

Have you ever wondered how the psychological quotients impact and make a difference to our motherhood and working mother experience? Today I dive into what psychological quotients mean, yes that's the IQ, EQ, SQ and AQ - and how this may impact on our mothering and our work mama life too.

This field of work is really liberating when we examine the impact of how we show up as human beings can influence our experiences within the world. When we as mothers come into motherhood and our working life with a deeper understanding of what it is to be us, and we can hold onto the relevant components of that, then we can also use a different lens or awareness on our mothering and our experiences.

Exploring how to manage our energy, be it as a mother, a working mother or a health professional is one of the hardest things to navigate. We are conditioned to show up in service continuously, yet when we choose to look after ourselves... or put ourselves on the 'service schedule', there can often be perceptions or stories that it is a selfish act.

In this episode, I explore and share with you my meditation that I use when trying to keep my energy ready to serve. This is a meditation I was gifted in my early years in practice, long before I had kids, and was one of the inclusions that I came back to after my burnout.

I really hope this episode provokes some thoughts about self care, your miraculous energy, and how much loving on yourself is beneficial to all of those around you.

If you are looking for a copy of my book and access to the nourish module from the Working Mama Reset, then make sure you access this at www.draliyoung.com/simple and I will shoot your book to you ASAP and immediate access, including recipes, to the nourish module will be yours.

She works with both allied health practitioners upskilling them on the important work of hormones, and she works 1-1 with clients experiencing hormone related health problems. This is an episode for all of the healthcare and service provider mums out there... because it is something that floats close to home for me, and something I really wanted to share with you.

There has been a lot of chat over the last few years about trauma and deep learnings in how this plays out with our soul, plays out with our service and plays out with our family members. Sometimes, like me, you have had traumatic experience at birth, or issues with burnout, there can be triggers and times where this can impact on your service.

This weeks podcast is a great ramble on the impact that trauma can have on our service... and some small steps we can do to support ourselves and those we are serving through it. Thanks to motherhood for opening up my eyes on this important topic!

Welcoming Emma Gilmour into the Work Mama Life world today, and you are all going to totally love it. Emma is from Hope Rising Coaching, and works with middle aged women to change the conversations and relationships with booze.

Today we chat about the having it all myth... The pressure on women in mid-life is insane.

We grew up with Madonna on our Walkmans, ‘Working Girl’ at the cinema and ‘we can have it all’ expectations.

Fast forward twenty years and we have been all the things the mum, the wife, the career woman.

Running full throttle on caffeine, booze and adrenaline for so long, we are literally ‘Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown’.

She is a counsellor and certified This Naked Mind, Gray Area Drinking & Tuning in to Teens™ parenting coach. Her coaching practice is for parents who want to model a healthy relationship with alcohol for their kids. She work's with people wherever they are on their journey with alcohol and whatever they want their coaching outcome to be: to take a break, to moderate or to go alcohol free.

Emma's mission is to get rid of the stigma surrounding seeking to change our relationship with alcohol. You will find no shame, blame or judgement in my coaching program. My goal is to help you take back control and find the freedom of making alcohol a small and insignificant part of your life.

Emma is currently preparing for her virtual 3 day retreat - and if after the episode this sounds like something that would suit you, jump in here to access it.

Todays episode is with the effervescent Laura Campbell from HackerLily - a company bringing her very well designed and super supportive HipSurfer to Australian shores. Laura has worked with some of the worlds' largest companies in a creative manner, and after moving back to Australia with her young family, she realised there was a massive gap in the market for a strap free and stylish hip-style seat for our kids.

We chat about Laura's invention, but more than that, we talk about the working mama juggle. The good bits, the tricky bits, and the ones that make you thankful that you have a supportive partner to lean on too. You can get special access by joining her waitlist, www.hackerlily.com and make sure you follow her on instagram, as this is where she shares all of her amazing things. @_hackerlily

Laura is equally as full of energy as I am, and I hope that you really get that vibe from our chat today. I feel very lucky that we have come into each others orbit, and that I have had a sneak preview of the amazing hipsurfer in action. Enjoy our chat, I'd love to hear your feedback.

When did you just have that blinding realisation that you have given too much? That you've suddenly ended up with too much going on in your world, and you are, once again, at the bottom of the pile.

Or you've just continued to say YES to people without thinking about it's impact on you?

At work?

At home?

With family?

With the kids?

In today's episode I have a chat about the powerlessness in overgiving, and how, when we over give, eventually something has to break. I look at the ways we can identify overgiving within ourself, and some small step forwards that may help to change it up for you. And I talk about my most recent overgiving... yep, kids birthdays get me hardcore into overgiving territory? What's your kryptonite in this land?

Eve is a podiatrist based in Regional Victoria, starting her first business at age 23. She has spent the last 20 years starting, growing and selling businesses, and now works to help other women launch and scale their health businesses.

This week I chat about how we determine our worth as a mother. Are we providing ourself a lens where we are only determining it based upon the 'outcomes' of our mothering, or are we looking backwards at worth dependent on career?

However we determine our worth, it is great to stop and examine this concept. As a busy working mum, it is easy to fall into a societal trap of worth determination, and today I want to plant some seeds on exploring how we do determine our worth.

What matters to us? Now that we are a mum and working, this may have changed substantially compared to previously. Lets have a listen, and a bit of a think about worth in motherhood.

Covid created a new level of stress for Kell, and as she began to navigate through burnout, and a loss of family connectedness, she decided to make the jump into the online world.

This transformation has been so great for her on a health perspective, but also on a life front too. I really hope you enjoy this chat. If you want to find out more info on Kell go to https://www.thelearnnet.com

Have you ever wondered what it's like to realise things need to change when you are navigating the working mother life?

The surrender concept is just this for me. Surrendering to the concept that maybe what was big for me before has changed, and isn't as important. Maybe surrendering to the choice to decrease profit for a little while in order to make gains in other areas of your life.

Surrendering and leaning into the role as a mother, and changing the roles as a business owner, be it temporarily or permanet.

In this episode I share all of the things that I discovered as I emerged from the crazy world of burnout. The learnings that I took on board, and the shifts that needed to occur. I hope you get something for yourself from it too!

In today's episode, I chat with author Zoe Haack all about restoring fun, play and 'real' childhood back into childhood. Zoe has had an extraordinary journey, and has moved wholly to supporting families to embrace a childlike and childled expression of self within their family units.

Zoe Haack is a child activist and thought leader on growth through osmosis. She sees a world where our natural rhythms are restored, and children lead.

She has witnessed the innate wisdom of childhood and implores adults to see beyond the confines of societal structures to regain sovereignty.

An avid researcher and remarkable storyteller, Zoe revolutionises the way parents and educators prioritise trust, freedom, and autonomy for children.

Ok, so this weeks episode has me getting a little bit ranty about judgement in parenting. We all do it, yes even me sometimes (and I share when I've been most judgey in my past), but there are some pretty solid reasons to just be kind to each other.

We have just globally navigated one of the key events of our lifetimes, and our nerve systems are still recovering from it, and judgement (whether perceived or real), can be a big problem in the parenting paradigm.

I'd love to hear your feedback, and to have more conversations about judgement in parenting. The key take homes are:

  • judgement was an evolutionary approach in cultures to develop best practice and ensure survival

  • not everybody has the same backgrounds, information, knowledge base, privelege and resources

  • listening withough judgement is a growth skill - and one that mothering amplifies.

  • kindness, and support when asked for is key.

Enjoy.

As working mum's, it so easy to just keep on going... until we can't. This concept of working and mumming and life-ing until we drop is a big one that pervades the societal expectations of motherhood.

If we work, then to make up for it, we have to keep doing all the other things too. We need to break this narrative, and this is my story of why I desperately felt like I needed a break these school holidays!

Enjoy the episode, Ali.x

This weeks episode is with Lauren Oliver, the founder of Mums who Wine. She is a rockstar in the supporting mum's world, and has created a safe, inclusive and connected space for mum's all over Australia to feel connected again.

Mums Who Wine was founded by Lauren Oliver. As a mother of two young boys and working in a high stress, demanding corporate job, Lauren was constantly plagued with "mummy guilt" when she desired time for herself. It shortly became evident that without this time, Lauren was less effective, less nurturing and was slowly losing her identity outside of her role as "mum". Through Lauren's desire to connect with other mothers, she created a facebook group, which eventually became Mum's who Wine.

We discuss her move from corporate world to this world, and some of the good and the bad of this motherhood gig!

In the final episode of my bite sized 5 Pillars week (welcome to all of the new listeners), I am chatting about the importance of connection.

As humans, we are wired to connect. And to do this, we need to have support around us to make it happen. I jump into some simple ways as mums we can foster connection.

Knowing that in the last few years this major pillar of health has ultimately suffered (hello lockdowns'), this week I have re-started by Work.Mama.Life.Lounge. A place to connect and be with other working mum's. Here's the link if you want more info.

This weeks episode is a beaut. I first met this vivacious human 12 months ago, and my life is better for it. Victoria is all about supporting families to be their best, and it really shows. This episode we laugh, we chat and we have a hoot.

The last ten years of Victoria’s life have been spent doing what she loves – working in early childhood education. She has worked across multiple disciplines in before and after school care, long day care, and finally settling into family day care which led her to the path of starting Rainbow Bridge Family Day Care Service in 2013.

Working with her educators, she was faced with their everyday challenges. From this point, her passion grew to help educators release their frustrations around programming and assist them to get the many thoughts out of their heads and onto paper – that’s why she created the Big Hearted Education Planner! Finally, a book that has everything educators need to help them to be completely prepared and express their flair and creativity. We’ve also created a range of courses to support educators in their journey to empower them in being the best educator they can be.

When she is not focused on serving her community of educators, you can find her singing and spending time with her hubby and children.

How amazing is this woman. Come on a discovery of Danielle's life work into breaking down the gender code that is so entrenched in our society.

Danielle Dobson is an author, speaker and corporate coach, on a mission to break the Gender Code - that code of beliefs we hold as a society that says women are carers, and men are providers, and we are intrinsically different.

Danielle’s research into women in leadership found that the Gender Code underpins the inequality in our society today, particularly in the workplace. It also revealed why mothers make great leaders, and the valuable attributes they can bring into the workplace.

As a mother of three herself, Danielle has experienced firsthand the pressures of trying to ‘have it all’, and her research formed the basis of her book, Breaking the Gender Code, which gives women practical strategies to rewrite their own ‘code’ for creating the life they actually want.

Danielle works with organisations to help them unlock the potential of the women on their teams, and to attract the right female talent, creating more equality around leadership opportunities in the workplace. She also helps busy parents to understand how to get a better balance between life and work, and to create more equality in both the workplace and the home.

Sharon Collon chats with us today about her exceptional journey into motherhood as the wife of an ADHD man and the mother to three boys with ADHD. She felt incredibly lost at the beginning of her motherhood journey as she navigated these challenges, which led her to create The Functional Family.

Sharon is passionate about helping parents have functional and fun lives when they have children with behavioural challenges. Sharon specialises in practical strategies and helping exhausted parents.

When her first son was diagnosed with ADHD she felt incredibly alone. There was information about how to help the child, but there was nothing on how to support the parents. The journey of raising her beautiful boys with ADHD was isolating and exhausting. The stress affected her health.

She realised that she was only surviving each day and things had to change. She began researching ADHD and using her corporate background and love of procedures and organisation to develop systems and routines to make life easier for herself and the ADHD brain. She realised that she could change the environment around her children to work with their strengths.

Sharon's company, The Functional Family, has assisted over 15,000 families. She has created online support groups where parents can ask questions, connect and support each other. She offers one on one coaching, a regular blog and an incredible 6 week online program, ADHD and Families.

She wants to help parents get back their time and energy, but most importantly create space for the good stuff!

In this episode, Dr Ali talks with Stacey Hughes. She is the director of CQ Nutrition, a leading chain of dietitian clinics across Queensland. Together with husband Chris, Stacey has grown the business from a single clinic to a chain of five (and growing).

The flagship program of CQ Nutrition is the SCOOD Health Challenge and Online Course, which gives participants the chance to win huge cash prizes as a motivator to complete the online weight loss course. Most importantly, every participant is supported and coached to lose weight the healthy way—and keep it off.

When not launching challenges and managing a team of fifteen staff, Stacey is a busy mum of four. Interestingly, Stacey and her husband chose a gender selection process for their fourth child... you can listen all about it in the pod.

Fun fact: she owns every Jamie Oliver cookbook, is a coffee addict and even trained as a barista to perfect the art of making coffee!

This episode is all about YOU... as a human. A human who may feel lost, overwhelmed and angry since she had her kids, and why the 5 day Mama Challenge isn't a bootylicious rump-shaking, skinny creating challenge.

It's deeper than that, it's about your Soul. Who you are as a human? That part of you that may be lost, that has disappeared when you became a mama... and how to get that back!

I hope this episode answers a bit of the why for you!
