Steven Thorn is an Author of Horror, who was inspired by such greats as Stephen King, Richard Matheson, Robert W Service, and Harold Schechter, just to name a few.  Steven writes other genres as well, but Horror is his passion. He says that he enjoys writing scary stories because of the strength of feeling, the depth of raw emotion it fires within us.  It allows him to manipulate his readers on a physical level. We have an exciting show planned when Director/Producer Jillian Bullock and Model/Director John Quinlan return to update us on the release of their upcoming movie, A Sense of Purpose: Fighting For Our Lives.  This movie covers the problem so many of our returning soldiers face with PTSD and how they overcome their pain and regain their lives. With the high number of suicides, this is a very important subject that needs to be addressed. It also touches on the unspoken subject of sexual assault in the military.  We know this is sure to be not only an entertaining movie but will also help shed some light on these two difficult subjects.

Vince is a guy who asks lots of questions, not only of himself but also of his society and the world around him. Although he claims he's found no real answers, that hasn't stopped him in his quest to gain perspective on a little something we call life.

As a young teenager in 1984, Vince began journaling and, within a few years, began writing short stories in both the horror and suspense genres.

The untimely passing of his significant other in early 2012 set him on a two-year journey of grieving and coping; one littered with many unexpected emotional roadblocks.

As he worked through the process, he decided to self-publish his journal entries in compilations.  Thus was born The Narratives series of books.  Volume I was released in the fall of 2012 and was quickly followed by five additional volumes over the course of the next three years.

His most recent work, titled "From Thoughts To Written Words: Learn To Journal From The Soul," dives into the world of journal writing, and provides insight and guidance for anyone who wants to learn how to journal.

Stephen Thorn rescheduled for a later date, so Lisa and Linda just spent the evening chatting about what's going on in their lives.

Stephen Thorn is an author of Horror, Poetry, and Science Fiction.  Influenced by such greats as Stephen King, Richard Matheson, Robert W. Service, Stephen has tossed his hat into the world of literature.

In his spare time, Stephen enjoys surfing the Net, watching movies and classic TV shows, as well as listening to good music, swimming, target shooting, photography, and, of course, reading,

Over the years, Stephen has been asked why he seems to gravitate toward Horror.  In which he responds, “Horror is but one arrow in my quiver.  I write many other types of fiction, but I enjoy writing scary stories because of the strength of feeling, and the depth of raw emotion it fires within us.  It allows me to manipulate my readers on a physical level.  Any fiction writer worth the title makes the reader’s imagination and emotions dance like a marionette, but a writer of horror can also arouse the goosebumps and quicken the heartbeat and raise the hair of his audience.”

April M. Reign was born and raised in Southern California.

Growing up, she was involved in many sports: softball, surfing, tennis, and Kenpo karate. Many weekends at the beach with her family included her father packing up the long boards and teaching April and her 2 sisters how to ride a wave. The activity that stands out the most, is the thirteen years April spent studying karate with her family.

Sports weren’t the only activities April enjoyed. She also played the accordion for twelve years and even played for  the Jerry Lewis kids fundraisers. During those years, she learned to read and write music.

Besides writing music, during her high school years, she also discovered her passion for writing words. At fifteen, she began writing poetry. By the time she reached the age of twenty, she was writing short stories, with no other intention than to get the stories from her mind to paper.

After her divorce, she worked full time and raised her two boys, until she decided to follow her dream and write her first book. A year later, Enticing the Moon was published. Since then, she has written more than 25 novels and several short stories, and has entered many writing contests, winning first place on several occasions.

As an indie author, April M. Reign writes and publishes her own books. With the increase in her book sales, she was able to give up her job in the corporate world and pursue her dream of writing stories, which she hopes capture the attention and intrigue of her readers.

He has written for different regional magazines and newspapers over the years, and has often been selected to speak at both professional and non-professional events, as well as radio talk shows. Through his characters he explores the psychology of the human condition as well as the various elements and entanglements of personalities. His novels incorporate the social and historical influences surrounding the lifetimes of his characters, and are stories of overcoming social, emotional and spiritual challenges.

Los Angeles. Notorious cult filmmaker, Dan Coplan, whose past film “The Dragon Gate” was banned in Korea and censored in Germany is unleashing his first novel “Let it Be” on El Dia De Los Muertos a/k/a ‘The Day of the Dead.’ No relation to the Beatles’ song of the same name, the title is drawn from a passage in Shakespeare’s “Hamlet”, i.e., “the readiness is all, . . . let be.”

The novel twelve years in the creation is a TALL tale about Death falling in love with a human. Set on the eve of the Day of The Dead, it is a supernatural thriller dripping with erotic conversation beyond words. This night, the object of Death’s attraction, YEATS DANE, sets out to find his wife's killer and avenge her death, when he is seduced by the Death, a wild, sexy, and fantastic game of cat and mouse ensues, in which everything goes wrong.

Dan has been shot at twice, he's traveled to Mt. Fuji in Japan on a Buddhist pilgrimage, and when he was 14, he was very sick; standing 5'11" tall, he barely weighed 69lbs. Given only hours to live, he's used his many real life meetings with Death as a basis for this neo-myth.

Dan has always been captivated by the human ability to turn darkness into light. His book, Let it Be visits this territory.  It’s a genre bending story and Dan had a blast writing it. He wants the readers it to have a fun journey.

Let It Be is published by Wonderful Sound Books and is available on Amazon

1 bestseller in sea adventures, Jesse Giles Christiansen is an American author whose page-turning fiction weaves the real with the surreal, while also speaking to the human condition. Hailed by New York Times bestselling author, William R. Forstchen, as "leaving readers so tantalized by the story lines, they think the events actually happened--a demonstration of skill surely to launch this author into the big leagues."

Jesse was born in Miami, FL, playing on beaches as a boy, the sky bronzing him forever and the sea turning his heart lyrical. After spending a summer in Alaska before graduating from Florida State University with a degree in literature and philosophy, he wrote his first novel, Journey into the Mystic.

Jesse feels he's haunted by Hemingway's ghost, not just by the poster in his writing studio staring at him, saying, "What else you got?" but by a café called Hemingway's in the small European city where he writes. Finally, Hemingway became his neighbor on Amazon when his novel, Pelican Bay, outsold Old Man and the Sea.

**Due to the time lag of Jesse's call from Germany, he wants you to know the song "Missing You" which he sang live on the show is slightly out of sync from the music played.  He apologizes and says you can find a proper version on his website.

Carmen DeSousa is a romantic-suspense writer. Her stories overflow with romance, mystery, suspense, with a hint of paranormal at times, and of course, tragedy. After all, what would a great story be without a tragic event setting the stage? All of her novels are sensual, but not erotic, gripping but not graphic and will make you cry, laugh, love, and hope. Although some of her titles clearly include supernatural or ghostly beings, her writing dances on the edge of the paranormal, in a genre referred to as magical realism. Her hope is that as you read her stories, you'll wonder, "Hmmm...what if?"

As most authors, Carmen blames her leap into a full-time career as a professional writer on her love of reading. Reading has always been an escape for her. When life was rough as a child, she could always disappear into a book. But she found something else too... She discovered writing her thoughts was healing.  Not only could she create hope for her protagonists, but she could do away with the antagonists--legally. When she penned her first novel, 'She Belongs to Me', Carmen allowed only her cousin and best friend to read it. They are the reason she writes. They pushed Carmen to publish, as they felt her stories would give others who've experienced tragedies hope. So now, even though she still writes for herself, Carmen now writes for her readers who continually encourage her because her words have touched their soul.

Most of Carmen's novels share some of her favorite hobbies, which is anything to do with the great outdoors. Carmen rarely spends her days off at a movie theater or the mall. In fact, she hates shopping or going to a movie.  As a matter of fact, Carmen and her hubby would rather read a book on the beach--or a coffee shop if it's raining--and if the weather is really nice, they love to go kayaking and hiking.

Have you dreamed of writing a novel, but don't know what to do?  Have you finished your first attempt at writing, but don't know what to do next?  Indie's Unlimited is a great source of information and support for those venturing into the world of the Indie Author.

What is an Indie Author? Because the term is somewhat nebulous, we’re asked from time to time about our definition of an “indie author.” At Indies Unlimited, we support a broad and inclusive definition that encompasses authors whose body of work is not obligated to a single large publishing company. Authors who are exclusively self-published, those who work with small print or regional presses, or small digital publishers, and those who may do some of each, or even have only some work published by traditional publishers are welcome here. The bottom line is that if you consider yourself to be an indie, you most likely qualify.

Indies Unlimited was founded in 2011 by indie author Stephen Hise (AKA the Evil Mastermind) to provide a platform of support and a safe place for authors, no matter where they are in their writing careers, to ask their questions and find the information they need in order to thrive. Everything at IU is free – from tutorials to breaking news articles to weekly book promotion – so authors can have confidence that we are a site they can trust for whatever they need.

Jan 7, 2016, Deadly Reads Radio did our first show on the dangers of the Essure Birth Control Device and how it has affected the health of thousands of women.  Due to the importance of this topic, we will have open lines for more women to call in and share their stories.

Next month, several women from the Facebook Group,  Essure Problems will be going to Capital Hill to testify on how Essure is not the harmless form of birth control they were told by their doctors.  Far too many women are developing life-altering health issues from Essure and far too many end up having a hysterectomy to escape the agonizing pain and other debilitating side effects caused by this horrible product.

If you are suffering from Essure, or know someone who is, PLEASE call in and share your story with us.

Knowledge is power, and together we can stop this horrible product from being offered to women.

We will be chatting with Romance Author Karen (K L) Docter about her books and writing the Romance novels readers love.

Amazon Bestselling Author Karen Docter writes two different kinds of romance novels.

Contemporary Romance w/a Karen Docter: Romance...With a Kick! Amazon Author Page: goo.gl/FwhxNC

Romantic Suspense w/a K.L. Docter: Women hunted by killers...men who'd die to protect them. Amazon Author Page: goo.gl/igvR0k

Karen's contemporaries are delightful, spicy romances. She loves writing about real men and women with dreams and goals that don't allow for a relationship just so she can throw them in each others path.

Her romantic suspense novels (as K.L. Docter) are also filled with romance, although the dangers the hero and heroine face are intense, usually because a serial killer is bent on ending one or both of their lives before they can fall in love.

Karen/K.L.'s an award-winning author, a four-time Romance Writers of America® Golden Heart® finalist, and won the coveted Kiss of Death Romance Writers Daphne du Maurier Award Category (Series) Romantic Mystery Unpublished division.

Heavy breathing or deep growls are heard from the other side of the door. We all wonder why the character in a movie or book will open the door, knowing they are about to be attacked by the vicious monster waiting for them on the other side.  We brace ourselves, waiting for the inevitable blood-bath we know will come.  Then when the poor victim screams, experiencing their horrible death, we hide our faces, not wanting to see for fear the image will forever haunt our dreams.

What makes us subject ourselves to such a fright? What makes us watch a movie, or read a book we know will make our nerves stand on end?  Those characters we will never forget, such as Freddie Krueger and Michael Myers, who made us cringe as they slaughtered their helpless victims.  Horror books and movies are an addiction for some, but everyone will delve into those stories from time to time for a brief escape into the dangerous world of HORROR.

Lisa and Linda will spend an hour chatting with Horror Author Brian Moreland, as we discover what type of person it takes to create those stories that make you turn on all the lights and lock the doors.  Brian writes novels and short stories of horror and supernatural suspense. His books include Dead of Winter, Shadows in the Mist, The Girl from the Blood Coven, The Witching House, The Devil’s Woods, The Vagrants, and Darkness Rising. Halloween is almost here and what a better way to get into the spirit than by sharing some scary stories of those things that go Bump in the Night.

Linda and Lisa will be talking with Award Winning, and one of the nicest people you will ever meet, Indie AuthorIca Iova. She will be talking about her Paranormal Short Stories, as well as some of her other work. Ica was born in a small Romanian village, not far from Dracula's Castle, so we knew she'll have some great things to talk about. Linda and Lisa will also be sharing their own personal ghost stories and will be asking the audience to call in and do the same.

So find a safe place, wrap up in your favorite blanket with your favorite beverage, and get ready for a night of ghosts, ghouls, and a fun time with friends.

You can find Ica on her website, Facebook, Amazon Author Page, and Twitter.
