Silvana, Eric, and Tegan watch Season 7 Episode 4 "Orpheus," which seems to have nothing to do with the Greek myth. Teal'c is injured and has a slow recovery ahead of him and he's having a hard time with it. Jack and Daniel are, in fairness, doing a pretty good job of supporting him. Sam gets to explains a sci fi film to the team in the weight room while Teal'c is doing Physical Therapy and Daniel gets to show off his new muscles. Daniel is hearing things and seeing visions and it turns out Ry'ac and Bra'tac are on a labor planet so the team comes up with a plan to set them free. They have to move quickly because Bra'tac has run out of tretonin! Bra'tac gives a great pep talk and Daniel convinces Teal'c that kelno'reem isn't just for Jaffa with symbiotes, actually. They escape, saving the day and Teal'c gets his mojo back!
Peter DeLuise unsurprisingly directed this episode and a side character shared the name of his 21 Jump Street character. The hosts praise the emotional depth of the episode and think it was a long time coming. This episode also raises a lot of questions about how the Jaffa have been written up to this point and why the Jaffa rebellion wasn't prioritized by the SGC and Teal'c far earlier?

Silvana, Tegan, and Eric watch the new film, Disclosure Day. Silvana and Tegan were not fans of this film and even though Eric found things to like, all three are mystified by the 80% on Rotten Tomatoes. We all feel like Stephen Spielberg really phoned this one in.
This review is split into two parts. We discuss the first half of the film and some of our initial impressions of the film overall.
Silvana, Tegan, and Eric discuss Season 7, Episode 3 of Stargate SG-1, "Fragile Balance". In this episode, Jack shows up to the SG-C as a 15 year old boy. This episode has a lot of great moments, but we could do without the last minute of the episode. You'll also learn why we probably won't be covering Twilight and hear about the invention of Stargate Bingo.

Eric comes clean about how much he did not enjoy watching "The Mummy" but Silvana and Tegan are still awash in nostalgia. This episode takes the hosts into various conversations about the plot holes and inconsistent tone of the film. Side tracking conversations include why is there so much quicksand in movies from the 90s? This episode contains the ratings for "The Mummy" and a final recommendation that listeners should watch it if they haven't already.
Silvana, Tegan, and Eric watch the 1999 version of "The Mummy". To Silvana and Tegan's surprise and delight, Eric had not seen this movie before, or if he did, he did not remember it. Much to Eric's dismay, he probably wishes he still couldn't remember.
The three discuss how this movie can't decide what it wants to be: horror, comedy, thriller? Tegan and Silvana basque in the nostalgia while Eric learns what he's been missing.
Silvana and Eric watch and discuss Season 7, Episode 2 of Stargate SG-1. This is the final episode with Jonas Quinn for a while, and has us returning to his planet to save it from Anubis.
The Kelowna Beanie Baby Market may have never crashed. Jonas should get on that.

Silvana, Eric and Tegan watch the season finale of season 6 (Season 6 Episode 22), which was a potential series finale for Stargate SG-1. What a phenomenal episode! ⁃ This was a really great episode that generated a lot of great discussion, not to mention wrapping up the Abydos storyline. The hosts celebrate (almost) 5 years of the podcast and Eric claims he's been here the whole time!

Silvana and Eric watch Stargate SG-1 Season 6 Episode 21 "Prophecy." Jonas isn't well, and he's seeing into the future. What will the SG-C be able to do about it, and can he prevent the deaths of SG-1 in time? Eric and Silvana find it refreshing that they believe Jonas immediately when he provides them with evidence, instead of doubting him, like they normally do. Tegan was sorely missed for this episode but will be back next time! What's the money system for goa'uld? How do these villains not have capitalism? It kind of makes sense the Tok'ra are communists. Check out Silvana's article about the lack of women statues in America on her Substack "To Be Kindled". Eric and Silvana go on a tangent about highly intelligent, capable women that history forgot just because they had vaginas. Eric and Silvana start a nap time cult. Tegan will have to figure out if it's her jam next time. This episode just be vibin'.

Silvana, Eric and Tegan watch Stargate: SG-1 Season 6 Episode 20 "Memento." It's agreed among the hosts that this episode should have been called "Going To Other Planets."
Stargate goes for a bit of a Star Trek feel with bringing back the Prometheus. Jack isn't acting like himself, again, and isn't respecting the established hierarchy of the ship. An interesting dynamic is established with the Tagreans but isn't really delivered on in a satisfying way. This episode was severely lacking a Daniel!

Silvana, Eric and Tegan watch Stargate SG1: Season 6 Episode 19 "The Changeling." This is the second episode written by Christopher Judge and the hosts enjoyed it much more than the first episode he wrote ("The Warrior"). This episode is really a firefighting ad for a bit of the episode as Teal'c is living an alternate life in a dream state as a fireman. Teal's is switching between 2 dream lives, one of being a firefighter waiting to donate his kidney to his stepfather and one where he is a member of SG1, but the truth is much darker.
The hosts have a few ideas for what have been a better dream-world than Teal'c being a firefighter but overall really liked the episode. The hosts also wonder, was this ascended Daniel in Teal'c dream-world all along? Stargate fans may never know!

Jack apparently forgot he is an amateur astronomer and no longer trusts strangers who have a chain of command (maybe because this alien is hitting on Sam?). You should definitely know to be suspicious of aliens flirting with you right away. This episode features Celtic peoples who have been kidnapped by the goa'uld. It also features VERY SILLY looking weapons.

Silvana, Eric and Tegan watch the 2003 Film "Timeline." The hosts described this movie as jurassic park for archeologists instead of paleontologists. Eric Bana was dreamy as always in this intellectual movie made by non-intellectual people. The battle scene in this movie also really stood out. Silvana and Tegan educate on the problematic history of the depiction of consent in Hollywood. Overall, the hosts all enjoyed this movie and would definitely recommend it.

Silvana, Eric and Tegan watch Stargate SG-1 Season 6 Episode 17 "Disclosure," a truly uninventive recap episode. However, a good jumping off point to talk about the culture and media of the early 2000s.
In this episode, The SGC invites leaders from various nations to disclose to them the Stargate Program. Senator Kinsey is there to try to convince them that the NID would be a better organization to oversee the program. Thor swoops in at the last minute to have a sassy one liner and to convince everyone that keeping control with the SGC is the right call afterall. No need to confront any of the problems with the U.S. military overseeing such a program!

Silvana and Tegan watch Stargate SG-1 Season 6 Episode 16 "Metamorphosis," which should switch it's name with the episode "Bane."
Nirrti is up to her shenanigans again but is now changing people's genomes to try to make a Hok'tar. She has convinced a group of people that she is their god and can heal them and give them special powers.
This episode highlights once again that Jack hates Russians, he hasn't learned anything after "The Tomb," episode and we really need Crystal Jack back to deal with these issues. This episode reminds of the Hell episodes where we are going back and forth from a jail cell and being interrogated and tortured outside the jail. Another Russian Colonel dies reinforcing the redemption by death trope.
Jonas catches the attention of Nirrti because his DNA is special in some way we aren't quite aware of yet. Unfortunately for her, this episode marks the demise of Nirrti, so she'll never get to get with Jonas or give him extra special abilities. That's the 9th Goa'uld they've killed so when they kill their 10th they get a free sub!

Silvana, Eric and Tegan watch Stargate SG-1 Season 6 Episode 15 "Paradise Lost." The bromance between Jack and Colonel Maybourne is back with a vengeance. The queerbaiting is off the charts from the very beginning with the hot dog jokes. Maybourne springs his new plan to avoid being imprisoned and convinces the SGC to authorize a mission to a planet that he claims has a cache of goa'uld weapons. As expected, SG-1 is double crossed but Jack accidentally goes through a portal with Maybourne with no way to get back to the Stargate.
Sam, Jonas and Teal'c are back on earth trying to find Jack with the not very helpful assistance of Dr. Bill Lee. There is a touching moment between Sam and Teal'c which acknowledges the loss of Daniel.

Eric and Tegan are flying solo this week and watched Stargate SG-1 Season 6 Episode 12 "Unnatural Selection." Jonas has another first and meets replicators for the first time. Spoiler alert, there are humanoid replicators now?!
The team has been tasked with helping the Asgard doctor a plot (sadly Silvana wasn't there to help them) to freeze the replicators in time until they came up with a more permanent solution. The time dilation stuff gets confusing really fast and Eric and Tegan discuss time travel in Sci-Fi.
Overall this episode was a cool concept, but didn't really feel like a follow up to "Prometheus."

Silvana, Eric and Tegan watch the original 1979 "Alien." It becomes clear very quickly that Red Dwarf is a spoof of Alien. Alien clearly has had such a huge impact on the genre overall and the hosts felt watching it was worthwhile.
This movie also really exhibits the differences between the expectations of 20th century viewers versus 21st century viewers.
The hosts share fun facts about the movie's filming and production, being an actor on this set sounds like it would have been a nightmare! Which really influenced the feeling of dread and tension in the film.

Silvana, Eric and Tegan watch Stargate SG-1 Season 6 Episode 10 "Cure."
The hosts start out discussing which bands SG-1 characters would love, unfortunately this is not a crossover episode with the band The Cure.
We are back in classic SG-1 style with the costumes, the post-industrial backdrop, archeology, and great character moments. The emotional moments hit hard and the ethical dilemma was interesting and handled well.
Silvana gives a lesson on why Agile isn't done in medicine, Tegan rants about drug trials, and Eric gives a history lesson on Bath in England. No explosions in this episode!

Silvana and Tegan watch season 1, episode 12, "Fire and Water". Originally called "Funeral for a Friend", the SG-1 team returns without Daniel. They think he is dead, but a fish-man has used bubbles to change their memory.
Daniel is kidnapped for knowing too much about Babylon (not the "5" kind) while the team mourns him at his memorial, wake, and apartment.

Eric and Tegan watch Stargate SG-1 Season 6 episode 7 "Shadow Play." Silvana will be back hosting soon but in the mean time SG-1 returns to Langara to negotiate about military tech with Jonas' people, the Kelownans. The SG-C wants Naquadria but the negotiations clearly aren't going anywhere.
The SG-C is starting to look like the Tollans in this episode, not wanting to share technology with a less technologically advanced society. SG-1 also just steal Naquadria from the Kelownan's and nobody calls them out for it!

You would think the Tok'ra would be the ones making their last stand here against the attack from System Lord Zapacna, but instead, SG-1 is making their last stand here plus Lt. Idiot/Lantash.
Jacob and Daniel escape the system lord's mother ship...but not before the goa'uld partake in some cannibalism. We finally have goa'uld (buffet) art! Amazing.
So what is next for the Tok'ra? Is Selmak the only one left?

Silvana and Tegan watch Season 5, Episode 15, "Summit." For the first time in ages, multiple system lords are meeting and the Tok'ra have conveniently synthesized a symbiote poison. Daniel gets volunteered to go with Jacob to the Summit and pose as Yu's closest human servant using the Reol chemical.
Jack, Sam and Teal'c stay behind at Tok'ra base where Lt. Kyle Idiot is on his first mission. Apparently Lantash survived "Divide and Conquer" and blends with Lt. Idiot out of desperation to try to save his life.
Daniel is going to use the weapon but, inconveniently, Sarah/Osiris is here and he is understandably hesitant to use it on her.
This is a two-parter so stay tuned next week for the conclusion "The Last Stand."

SG-1 encounter the Aschen, again! Jack's note wasn't specific enough and they meet the Aschen through a people who are seemingly being helped by the Aschen, the Volians. The Aschen make earth an offer for technology that is hard for anyone to refuse. So in the second episode in a row, earth is given an offer that seems too good to be true. And SPOILER ALERT...it is too good to be true!
The Senator-Who-Won't-Be-Named is back and is putting his ego on full display. Jack is having none of it.
Everyone has a part to play in this episode, even Walter and Hammond are teaming up to figure out of the Aschen are from the off-limits planet.

Silvana and Tegan watch Season 5 Episode 5 "Red Sky", the inferior cousin to "Scorched Earth."
SG-1 accidentally messes up a planet's sun, threatening their planet and existence. The people on the planet just happen to believe that the Asgard are their gods and they aren't too ready to be told they worship false gods and need to evacuate the planet.
Why didn't Teal'c have something to say about a society worshipping false gods? Why is it always about Jack and Daniel?
The Asgard won't help, even though it's pretty unlikely the goa'uld are monitoring this 24/7. We meet the Asgard council for the first time and they aren't the biggest fans of Jack.
The science in this episode seemed especially made up, unfortunately even amazingly talented Amanda Tapping couldn't pull off making it seem legit. But of course, everything was fixed in the end...but was it the Tauri, or was it the Asgard? We may never know.

Silvana and Tegan watch Season 5, Episode 3 "Ascension". In this episode an ascended being takes a shine to Sam and hitches a ride home so he can stalk her. If he stalks her long enough, will she love him? YES?!
This Sam-centric episode has some great scenes: Teal'c in a cowboy hat, for example. However, even Amanda Tapping's great acting and Jack not into Star Wars can make up for all the scenes in which we are screaming.
Silvana learns what she's supposed to say back to "live long and prosper". Tegan is shamed for not bringing a towel places.
Silvana proposes having an onsite therapist at the SG-C for crewmembers and psychological analyses of aliens they encounter. What do you think?

Silvana and Tegan watch Season 4, Episode 22 "Exodus" and discuss how Stargate SG-1 is veering into a more pure sci-fi style, and Silvana is not a fan of it.
Another thing the hosts are not a fan of - the Tok'ra. The Tok'ra train has derailed into an alternate dimension at this point. The Tok'ra know Tanith (using Hebron as a host) is a spy but the whole spy business it just handled in the most ridiculous and frankly awful way. The Tok'ra used the host Hebron in a very goa'uld way by just using him for their own ends.
This is the episode where Samantha Carter blows up a sun, and what a waste to do that in this episode.

Cadet Hailey is introduced and we are told rather than shown that she is an insubordinate know-it-all and the powers that be want to throw her out of the academy. However, Sam wants to use her brain for good at the SGC so she brings her along to a mission to show her what she can use her intelligence for.
SG-1 minus Daniel Jackson visit a moon (it's NOT a planet!) to supervise a team of scientists are studying....something? It's not really clear but they do encounter electricity bugs which the scientists immediately put into captivity which is always a good idea, right?
Dr. Bill Lee is introduced in this episode and this is one scientist Silvana and Tegan actually like. Unfortunately for the other scientist named Bill in this episode, there can only be one one Bill. It's just the rules.
Cadet Hailey and Major Carter have opposing opinions about what's happening with the electricity bugs. And Jack has to make the call and Cadet Hailey is adament that she needs to know who was right, even at the very end of the episode. Unfortunately,

The Tok'ra's philosophy and ethics are discussed and the inconstitency is glaring. The Tok'ra racism towards Jaffa is really showing and Tegan's love for the Tok'ra is seriously challenged in this episode....

The SG-1 team are helping a group of people settle a new planet, but another civilization has already started terraforming it! How will the team solve this one? Answer: with the Daniel Jackson we've all been waiting for!
With a little conversation, Daniel is able to solve everyone's problems.
How is this advanced civilization not one of the original four races? This is rather like Horizon Zero Dawn, from the perspective of the Gadmere.
Maybe it is just because Silvana is an Agile Coach, but this episode provides a great example of agile culture vs command/control structure.

Marina Sirtis is a major highlight of this episode and gives us one of our favorite scenes of the episode. Her russian accent isn't half bad either, at least according to the hosts.
The writer's transplanted Jack's sense of humor to Daniel in this episode with mixed results. Making jokes at the expense of other cultures doesn't seem like it'd be Daniel's thing to be honest.
Maybourne is back and has been up to some treasonous activities, he's not on screen for nearly long enough, more scenes with Jack and Maybourne please!

Silvana and Tegan watch Season 4 episode 4 "Crossroads." The Tok'ra are at it again, the Tok'ra train has totally derailed at this point, even Tegan can't deny it anymore.
An old flame from Teal'c's past - Shan'auc - comes to the SGC with a truly unbelievable claim, that she has convinced her goa'uld symbiote to be a Tok'ra. Silvana and Tegan speculate on the status of Teal'c's marriage and question why no one on SG-1 brought any attention to the fact that Teal's is partnered as far as the audience knows.
Teal'c is willing to leave the Tauri to help the Jaffa on Chulak, not to start the rebellion Silvana has proposed before, but to embark on a mission of brainwashing goa'uld symbiotes into being good, actually?
How shocking that the symbiote (Tanith) was not reformed at all! The death of Shan'auc results since the Tok'ra did nothing to protect her from the very real possibility that Tanith had misled her and meant her harm! Do better, Tok'ra.

Silvana and Tegan watch Season 4 episode 3 "Upgrades" where their Tok'ra allies finally offer technology to give them an edge over the goa'uld, but with a notable cost.
Both Silvana and Tegan are not big fans of Anise and the way Jack and Daniel act when she comes to the SGC.
Anise brings technoology which accelerates everything about SG-1's (minus Teal'c) bodies and minds. She bulldozes Dr. Fraiser and Tegan has some issues with the methodology she uses in her human trial.
Stargate really hits its stride here and the team dynamics really shine. Unfortunately, the hubris of human and Tok'ra-kind is really highlighted in this episode as well.
Teal'c and Hammond are the stars of this episode.

Silvana and Tegan watch Season 4 episode 2 "The Other Side" which is an apt title for this episode where SG1 get involved in a world war and end up committing a genocide against white supremacists.
Jack, focused so heavily on shiny new technology, misses all the red flags despite Daniel's obvious concerns until their leader, Alar, is clearly racist aginst Teal'c, prompting Jack to finally allow Daniel to ask some more questions about what this war is really about. But not until after telling Daniel to shut up in front of their hosts.
A pretty balanced episode in terms of each of the team members having something to do. However, some of Jack's "jokes" did not land for Silvana and Tegan.
Listen to find out which scene is stamped into Silvana and Tegan's memory for all time. Also, finally the members of the military are actually shooting the enemies. More of Sam being involved in combat please!

Tegan and Silvana watch Season 3, Episode 21, "Crystal Skull". This episode is Daniel-heavy and features Daniel's grandfather, Nick. Nick is not a fan of Daniel's theory about the pyramids, and Daniel doesn't really believe that Nick saw giants after looking into the eyes of a crystal skull he found on earth.
Silvana is concerned the CGI in this episode is bad enough that children will judge us if we show it to them now. Like we did our fathers for old Doctor Who and aliens dressed in bubble wrap.
It appears archaeology runs deep in Daniel's family. Is archaeology only possible if you have a family legacy of it? It's Indiana Jones, Nathan Drake, and Lara Croft too! What's that about?
How is Daniel so bad at presenting with slide decks?
Silvana and Tegan discuss the issue of the "magical black person" who is typically a person who helps a white main character achieve their goals. These characters are often not human themselves too.
The ladies wonder what has happened to Nyan, and also worry about Grandpa Nick staying with gas giants. Will they know what to feed him?

Silvana and Tegan watch Season 3 Episode 20 "Maternal Instinct" - an episode which is ironically extremely lacking in focus on women. It doesn't even pass the Bechdel test!
The SGC get an unexpected visit from Bra'tac and a gravely injured Jaffa reporting that Apophis is back and attacking Chulak looking for the Harsesis child. Luckily Daniel has been keeping his promise to Sha're and looking for Kheb this whole time right? Wrong!
We encounter Oma Desala for the first time but she only speaks and acts through a male monk on the planet. Sam Carter is sidelined and Silvana and Tegan rewrite the episode and Sam is now taking a vacation with her girlfriend, Janet Fraiser.
This episode could have been so much better if prior seasons had taken the direction of Teal'c and Shak'l forming a rebel alliance together.
As it is, Bra'tac is the star of this episode, and Silvana and Tegan wish there had been more exploration of what Kheb means to elderly Jaffa and what's next for Bra'tac.

Silvana and Tegan watch Season 3, Episode 19 "New Ground". The Bedrosians and Optricans are at war over their origin story, and SG-1 ends up in the middle of it.
Like in the "Bane" episode, Teal'c's make-up is a little off, and this is an episode that provides an example of how the lack of diversity in the TV and make-up industry can impact the quality of the end product. A lot of the technical details are not great, and parts of this Stargate SG-1 episode drag.
Also like in "Bane", Teal'c is seriously injured. In this episode he is blind and spends a great deal of time in a cave.
The new characters on this planet are having their religion questioned by the very existence of SG-1 and the Stargate. Where are the tortured souls who are discovering their religion is based on a lie?!
You should really explain how Zats work when you give them to people! I don't need to know all the details about these goddamn eye treatments but give me one blessed line saying "the second shot kills!"
A character is introduced to the SG-C but Tegan and Silvana don't recall seeing him again. Where in the world is Nyan?
