True Ghost Stories, Myths and Superstitions which are submitted to us by confessors telling us their experience.
The movie, The Exorcist, based on the private diaries kept by two Jesuit priests, was one of the scariest movie ever made when it came out in 1973. In December 2021, after more than 70 years of anonymity, the true identity of the boy who was the victim of the demonic possession that the book and movie was based on was revealed and this is the true origin story that not many people know about.
So, folks... lock your doors, shut your windows, turn down your lights and come with us into the other side.

We watched the movies and we read the stories, but what are the real stories behind the movie adaptations?
The Other Side is a brand new series on Supernatural Confessions written and narrated by Wend, and produced by Eugene Tay.

When there’s nothing to do during the Covid era lockdown and exercsing was the only legal reason to be out of the house without a mask, hiking became a popular sport cum past time for most people. That also means you are going to get small groups of people or individuals, walking in areas that are mostly desolated and devoid of the Yang energy.
That was a perfect time for nature spirits, ghosts, and otherworldly beings to run rampant out there. In this episode we feature stories from hikers, only on Supernatural Confessions. Enjoy.

We hear that drugs and alcohol are bad for you, but in this episode, we give you more reason to rethink indulging in these vices especially at clubs where apparently demonic entities feast on unsuspecting victims.
Ever had one of those moments your drank so much you don’t remember how you got home or what you did or who you slept with? Yeah.. hmm.. if you resonate with that, now you have a good excuse - the hantu possessed you and did all that. It wasn’t you!

This was the beginning of an ordinary London family’s terrifying 18-month ordeal. A haunting that so shocked 1970s Britain it was investigated by the authorities, research institutes, newspapers, and international paranormal investigators. It inspired TV series and movies, most famously Conjuring 2 based upon the American paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren’s involvement in the case.
This is the true story of the Enfield Poltergeist.

This was a fun episode to do because the audience started sending in their confessions during the live show and we read them out in real time, raw, unadulterated. The discussions took on different angles Jon and I didn’t plan for. That tells us that Hotel Hauntings is probably one of the most common occurrences!
In this episode, we got confessions from a special group of people - the ones working in the hotel; the ones who knows what’s really going on behind the scenes and are hiding it away from hotel guests.

In this special episode, we feature some of the most haunting stories and of course, they had to happen in Changi. Changi is the place nobody wants to talk about, let alone wander about at night.
Apparently, the Pontianak, a vengeful female apex predator, identified by her white gown and long black hair, haunts the place. Is it the same single entity terrorising our confessors or are there multiple versions of her? You decide, on this episode of Haunted Heritage: Changi, only on Supernatural Confessions.

We can never get enough of haunted office stories. It’s the only paranormal genre that’s crafted around the working conditions of the confessor which makes each story unique if the hauntings are similar. Some of us spend more time at work than at home; some of us have to keep on working even if our office is haunted because poverty is scarier than hantu.
In this episode we feature confessions from places like Shaw Lido, the Old Substation, Spire @ Bukit Batok, an old building in Hill Street built in 1969, and even a pharmacy in a hospital. All these and more only at Supernatural Confessions

One of the popular topics in our confessions database is stories from people working late in office and encountering unnatural phenomenons. Starting off part 1 of 2 Haunted Office episodes for this season, we have short stories from Amoy Street, Queenstown, and an unknown location in the west side. SC regulars Choo Yong Hock and Issac Lum weigh in on this topic too and share their personal encounters that stretched over many months.

Ok, let me get that word right and out of the way. It’s San Hun Chee Por - it means 3 immortal souls, and 7 mortal form, a taoism belief regarding our spiritual lifecycle. The audience knows I only got C6 for my mandarin and they never fail to test me when they get the chance.
Anyhoo, this is part 2 of Unfinished Business and we got our first gay ghost story. It’s not my words; that’s how the confessor described it when he called me up. It is a touching love story and one that is still ongoing.

Ep 8
When people leave before their time is up, they might come back as a lingering spirit hoping for one last shot at their unfinished business. This topic is a two parter; stories about the deceased returning with a message seem to be more common than we dare talk about on mainstream news. For most people, the dead should remain dead and gone.
But stories like Grandma’s Secret Son, The Ghost Whisperer of Singapore, The Jade Bangle, and There Must Be A Rational Explanation will tell you otherwise.
All these and more only on Supernatural Confessions. Enjoy.

Rental rates aren’t the only thing that’s scary when renting an apartment or a bedroom. Sometimes we don’t always have lots of options to choose from.
Today we shine the spotlight on people who had uncanny encounters with their rented places. There’s a man who shared a home with a Djinn in Horizon Hills in Johor Bahru, a Jealous Ghost who was infatuated with the tenant at Dakota Crescent and a house that came with three strange instructions.

Mirrors are one of the most common horror movie tropes in the genre. Is there any truth to these stories or pure Hollywood fiction? As a child, I always felt my reflection will turn to look at me when I had my back turned. For this episode, I interviewed some confessors who shared their most bizarre encounters with mirrors.
The Portal to the Other World is a story about a couple who bought a second hand mirror for their new home. Scry Me a River is about a spiritual love affair gone wrong, and That Man in the Mirror is a classic one that happened in an army camp to a guard duty personnel.

Old Kampong ghost stories are such classics that we seldom hear much of these days, but if you know where to poke around and ask, you will find that many old folks still have memories of those times that they hardly speak of these days, until Supernatural Confessions offer them as safe space to retell their encounters without feeling judged.
Most of these tales of bygone era would sound ludicrous to young listeners who cannot imagine that once upon a time the supernatural and occult practices were as common as memes on social media.

The second part of the final episode of Friday Night Live for the year where we have a few short stories and two long forms.
Pop culture asian ghost stories commonly talks about the classic lady in white but when you look deeper into real confessions by real people, the horrors that are out there has no boundaries.
It’s the part 1 of the final episode of Friday Night Live for the year! Our guests today are from the team that brought you Haunting History. Listen to their confessions on what went on behind the scenes during the production and their personal encounters while working on the set.
In our second last Friday Night Live show of the year, we bring your untold confessions from those working with inmates on death row. Due to the sensitive nature of their jobs, the identities of confessors will be kept anonymous. Listen to stories of a gangster who just couldn’t die; how the spirit of a serial killer might have returned as promised; and blatant use of black magic to beat the legal system.
What do rented costumes, rented furniture, and rented car have in common? They have all been in the hands of people you don’t know. We believe that items and places store energy imprints and that’s how psychics are able to get a read of the past. Problems start when you unwittingly invite a nefarious spirit into your life with the item you rented for a short term solution ends up being a long term problem.
One last night of special confessions before take a season break. Tonight we have two confessions that has something to do with being out of the body. We think there’s going to be a lot to talk about and we want you to join in the dissection.
When some spirits won’t just go quietly into the night, we bring in people with special skills to go to war with them. Today’s confession is quite intense and detailed, giving audience a peek behind how some of these battles are conducted.
Today’s confession is a classic. Homes are supposed to be a safe haven but when the place that is supposed to protect us, contains an entity that tries to kill us, who do you call? Could a male spirit be more deadly than female ones?
It's Friday the 13th! Traditional, in the west, it's a day of bad luck and superstitions. In Asia, we have own beliefs and customs that spook us. While it may not be the number 13, the Chinese try to avoid the number 4 as it sounds like the mandarin word "death" or "to die".
Taboos and superstitions; old wives tales or something more sinister? Today’s episode features confessions from people who went around looking for trouble and got more than they bargained for.
Some people believe that children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they possess inside.... unless what's inside them... is something unholy.
Fresh from an interview with a spiritual practitioner who wants to remain anonymous, today’s episode features confessions that involve children and the supernatural. Some seek for it, some were unwittingly afflicted by it, some were born with it.
Most spirits, like humans, are harmless and wouldn’t go out of their way to kill you. Today we shine the spotlight on entities that have died a tragic death and have returned to seek revenge. Listen to real confessions from real people who survived these rough situations to tell the tale.
Most people associate hauntings with abandoned places, but today we showcase confessions from people who had encounters while on the roads. After all, just like the sea, the roads too have claimed many lives.
Our mysterious guest who goes by the name S is a psychic and has the ability to communicate with spirits. We are dying to find out what messages the spirit world has for us.
This is the last of the Hungry Ghost Stories series for 2023. This episode is one of my personal favourites. It’s got the classic horror vibes in confessions such as Hell is Real, The Ghost Haven, Kind Pakcik of Telok Blangah and the Man with No Mouth.
In one of the featured confession - the Cemetery Ritual video - we seem to have caught some anomalies in the footage Our listeners want us to dissect and discuss this, so stay tune for that too. Is it ghost caught on video? Or just lens flair?

As Jon and I take a break this Friday because of work commitments, I like to put this featured confession up in its entirety because I feel it’s worth of a podcast episode. Alicia talks about her childhood experiences and how she thinks that the difference between good and evil is but a fine line. All these and more on Gods, Demons, and Ghosts featuring Alicia Lui, right here on Supernatural Confessions.

Continuation of 7th month ghost story classics except they are encounters that happened to real people in recent years and not your usual neighbourhood gossips. We got 7 confessions this week instead of the usual 3, and each of them are a grim reminder that the supernatural beings are still very much with us even in today’s modern day and age.

The June period is a favourite time for many people to enjoy a vacation overseas. Staying in a hotel or a service apartment is part of that experience. I spoke to some people who have stories to share, but what I did not expect to get were hair raising in-your-face type of hauntings that even the skeptics would find it hard to shoehorn a “logical” explanation.

Tonight’s episode is a classic. We grew up listening to many of these ghost on the roads and in the cars stories that were passed down as urban legends. Supernatural Confessions revisits this theme but delivers confessions you have never heard of before, told to us by real people with real encounters.
There’s a story about a man driving along Karak Highway and thought a Pontianak was following him home. We also have a girl who remembered her first encounter seeing a ghost boy while she was riding with her father in his lorry in a dark and lonely road. And finally we have a story that’s hard to debunk about a haunted car.
Joining us today is SC alumni and hall of famer, Joseph De Cotta. The self proclaim Apex Predator. What will shifu say about these hauntings?

Sentosa is one of Singapore’s most popular tourist spot for its uniquely Singaporean attractions, man-made sandy beaches, and overpriced drinking holes with a generous view to beach bods in trunks and bikinis. But beneath all that glamour is a dark past and buried secrets. Listen to confessions by people who had worked or stayed there, and the stories they will remember… forever.
The first confession was shared with with us by someone who had worked as a scare actor for halloween. Second confession talks about the superstitions of taking photos with just three people. Our confessor has photographic evidence that grandma's cautionary tale was right. In the third confession, an events organiser was driving home late from Sentosa had an unwelcome passenger hitching his ride. She had long black hair and a white gown. Our final confession is a reminder why our grandparents always advised us to never acknowledge any strange sightings at night.

I love nurses for many reasons, even though I must admit that the nurses and the uniforms I was accustomed to seeing on magazines and the internet during my teenage years was nothing like the ones in reality. Nurses are often times overworked, but yet they continue showing compassion to those under their charge. On International Nurses Day, we celebrate them by featuring confessions from nurses who had to deal with more than just their patients.
In the first confession, it seems we have a racist ghost who would only stop its shenanigans when scolded by a nurse. The second confession takes a darker turn when a nurse has to live with regret for now taking her patient seriously. The final confession is an audio recording from a nurse who received confirmation from the matron that there's a particular ward where an entity drains the life force from the patients.
And our featured guest is a nurse with a third eye. 'nuff said.

This episode is more complex and fringy compared to our usual episodes with familiar themes and tropes. Our guest today is an animal communicator and she shares with us how she can speak with certain animals when they are close to death. We also have a touching confession sent to us by a confessor who almost lost her dog to a lingering ghost in their home . And in the other confession we have a dog who can bestow visions to an animal communicator about a spirit loitering outside the house.

Before the arrival of Islam, the Malays were practising animism. Those ancient beliefs are still passed down today and form the foundation of many of our local ghost stories such as the entity with the flying head, nasi Kang Kang love spell and the most famous of all, The Pontianak.

Police work isn’t easy. Besides keeping the community safe, writing reports, and doing whatever it is their vocation requires of them, they also need to keep secrets of their paranormal experiences. I’ve met police petrol at Jalan Wak Hassan area and we stopped to chat about the hauntings in the area. I think he probably felt relieved that he could tell it someone else. We also got active officers working at HQ level who wanted to share their stories on the condition that their identities remain confidential. As a modern progressive nation, we pride ourselves on having a practical and logical view of the world, unlike the generations before us who believe in old wives tales. How silly of them, we say. But it’s this sort of mindset that pushes the discussion of the paranormal to the underground, and it is also what makes Supernatural Confession so intriguing to so many people, because these stories aren’t available in public domain. There’s a strange fascination about the paranormal and the unknown, and a part of us wants to know if it’s true. And such validations are even more powerful when it’s coming from people in position of authority that we trust - such as doctors, scientists, and police officers.
In this episode we got an ex police officer to join us as a guest to give us insights into how the men and women in blue operate behind the scenes, and how do police officers react to haunting?

Dato Crow, founder from Ghost Adventurers was supposed to be our featured guest today but unfortunately he was involved in traffic accident. Other than broken bones, we are very thankful that he's alive. But that also means he was not able to take the show today so I dug out my classified files and share these confessions with you today. These were cases I personally attended to so I’m able to provide more details, albeit from my perspective. That’s why I have my community and co-host Jonathan Lim to help me out with other possible theories I might have missed out on.
I also want to thank podcast listener Bock Yang, and Patron Teo Shi Jie for giving me the feedback that they would like to hear the Friday Night Live version of the podcast in its entirety without the edits from the video version.

Now that traveling has resumed post covid, what better way to spook you out than a good retelling of hotel room supernatural encounters told to us by confessors.
Our featured guest for this episode travels extensively and sleeps around, in many hotels. She’s Friday Night Live alumni Sonia Khurana. As a host on the show, she’s known to be the voice of rationality when dissecting our confessions, choosing to explain away any encounters with possibilities before she would admit that it’s the hantu.
The reason you will find Jon’s voice echoey today, is because he’s taking the call outside right after a shoot. That’s the level of dedication we have when hosting for Supernatural Confessions. Just like back in the days when Sonia was traveling and logging in to call at different parts of the world, one time she even hosted from the hospital bed.

The western myths have their lycanthropes and shapeshifters. In Asian mythology, we have stories of how souls of the dead can come back as a moth; and evil spirits taking the forms of palesit. According to the Pontianak lore, this apex predator can transform into a giant white bird and when it flies around at night, it makes the quaking sound of a duck. Hardly what I would consider frightening at all. In the first confession, a security guard came face to face with a Pontianak and witnessed the transformation. We have heard of it before, but it’s extremely rare for an actual first hand eye witness account. I’m convinced it the hantu, but my guest, Matt Verkaik, thinks he has evidence that the sound people say they heard is actually that of a bird. Something with a white belly. I can never remember that word. The second confession is so cute, we think the entity deserves a special supernatural confessions tee design. Now, let’s get on with the show.

Pop culture paints the Gods of Death as dark foreboding entities, but those who have met them say otherwise. There’s more to life than the usual sighting of the entity with long black hair and a white gown. According to some confessions illustrated by our guest Syed Wilson from Dark Arts of Syed Wilson, there are some really odd and scary looking humanoid. This episode celebrates three of these unusual sightings. Think that it’s impossible for such creatures to exist? Just look at the Japanese Yokai mythology for some of the weirdest looking monsters this side of the world. The one that I have trouble taking seriously if I ever met one is the Shirime. It has an eye in place of its anus. Legend has it that a long time ago, a Samurai was walking at night down the road to Kyoto when he heard someone calling out to him to wait. He turned around and asked “Dare ga iru ka“ - Who is there? He then saw a man bent over spreading his butt cheeks and a huge glittering eye opened up where the strange man’s anus should be. But don’t worry if you ever met one. Despite its startling appearance, it means you no harm. Its joy comes from scaring people. Unfortunately none of our confessions are anywhere close to the level of the Shirime, but they can get pretty freaky and these are the ones I do not want to meet. Hand drawn Images of these creatures can be viewed on the standalone confessions are available on our YouTube channel. Look for Excerpt from 17 Feb 2023 Friday Night Live.
For all SC fans who have reached out to us asking when the podcast will be back, thank you. You have been my motivation and the reason I found so much joy spending hours in producing these podcasts. I hope you enjoy this episode and the ones to come.

This week session is quite in the twilight zone according to Eugene.
First story - Leak in Dimension, confessor was playing outside with the sister, mom calls them in, they came in. Sister went into kitchen with the mom while confessor lay down on the couch. He then heard his mom having conversation with the sister mentioning about how she aborted a child when she was young. Then, the mom and the sister came out, but when confronted, the mom said there were no such conversation, however, whatever the confessor heard...is indeed true
Confessor saw something which she has no explanation. It's like people but instead of figures that we all know about, woman in white, dark shadows or little girl...confessor saw a human shape, but it's filled with static image, like the one that we saw on tv when there is no reception
Tragic story which a girl was killed brutally by men that abused her, though not mentioned in the story, I believed she was raped. Poor soul that could not rest, lingers around at the confessor's house in her disfigured face.

People view Taoist mediums with both fear and reverence. Taoist rituals involving underworld gods can be shocking for the modern folks whose idea of religious practices are peaceful and subdued. When the deities take over the medium's body, they usually converse in ancient dialect and can appear to be rather hostile in their mannerism. In Chinese mythology, Hei Bai Wu Chang 黑白無常 are two deities who dress in black and white respectively and in charge of escorting the spirits of the dead to the ruler of Underworld. Depending on the person it encounters, the Hei Bai Wu Chang can appear as either a benevolent deity who rewards the person for doing good deeds or a malevolent deity who punishes the person for committing evil. Locally, they are also referred to as Tua Li Ya Pek or Dua Di Ah Pek, which means "Big and Second Brother". Ken (not his real name) talks openly about how being a Tangki has affected his relationships and how he tried to reject the calling but there was simply no escaping heaven's will. Ken have requested to remain anonymous for this interview.

Cab drivers doing the night shift usually have lots of ghostly experiences to share. Some roads are so famous that cabbies refuse to take calls to these areas no matter how much you pay them. The stories we talk about in this episode are urban legends compiled over the years mostly passed down by word of mouth or shared in online forums. Those of us who grew up reading True Singapore Ghost Stories might find some of these spooky tales familiar. Are there any basis to these stories? What is the history behind these haunted places? Why are the ghosts by the road always the lady in white with a long hair? Fact or fiction, one thing we can be sure is - a good ghost story never gets old.

“Don’t step on joss paper”, “come home early”, “don’t go swimming”, “say excuse me”. My grandparents and parents would remind me of this every time hungry ghost festival comes round. I have no recollection of this, but apparently this tale I’m about to tell made me quite the legend amongst my neighbors. I was 12 years old and living at Blk 627 Bedok Reservoir Road. Back in those days, the kampong spirit was strong with the community. Different families would take turns to organize an outing for the neighbourhood kids. One of these outing was a BBQ at East Coast Park, and as you might as guessed, this took place around the 7 month hungry ghost festival. It was around 5pm, I remember. While the adults were setting up the pit, the children were on the beach, being children. Being the gung ho one of the lot, I always had to have a one up on the rest of the kids. So when someone kicked the cheapo plastic ball into the sea, I was the first to swim out to get it. The more I swam, the further the ball went, until my feet were no longer touching the sand, and you could feel the difference in water temperature. That’s when I felt the cold wrapped around my ankle and tugged me downwards. Gently at first, as if my foot got trapped in a floating plastic bag. I started to get a little uneasy and wanted to swim back. But then the grip tightened and started pulling me downwards. I had the chance to take one full breath before my head went under. I reached down to untangle whatever it is that was pulling me and I felt fingers around my ankle. Close your eyes now and run your fingers over the back of your other hand, and observe how it feels. Distinct knuckles and fingers. That’s what it felt like. Except it was slimy. I screamed on instinct but water only filled my lungs even faster. I didn’t know how long I was in the water or which way was the surface anymore. The salt water stung my eyes. I just thrashed around blindly.
Jane Franklin, co-host of Supernatural Confession shares a story she hasn't told anyone before. You're hearing this for the first time. The experience from this story still haunts her and you can hear her mood change in this podcast recording.
Remember the old Iluma shopping centre at Bugis? You might have heard of rumours that the toilet there is haunted. Guest Edgar Saradetch had a first hand experience. Also in this episode, Edgar shares how his family was too poor to move out, so they lived with the haunting in their old Toa Payoh flat for 10 years. This recording was done in his car while we were driving around.
We all have our fair share of ghost stories during our national service days, but most of these were tales past down by oral tradition. Very few of us can actually lay claim to having had a first hand encounter with the paranormal. [note: If you did, we want to talk to you!] Shawn Khan was a firefighter in the Civil Defence Force and for his graduation test, he had to go into a building called the Furnace to simulate a rescue mission. Instead of people, he had to rescue lifelike mannequins that were designed to look as realistically human as possible. At around 4am, something strange happened to him. He went missing and no one could locate him. His partner, who was the only with him in that room, claimed that Shaun was dragged away and simply...disappeared.
The very talented actor Chris Buckon shares two supernatural experiences in his life. One in which he was saved from a near fatal accident and the other was a ghostly encounter in a rented HDB room in Clementi. We sat on a stone curb at the top of Pearl's Hill, in the dark lit only by the glow of old fashioned park lamps. I sensed a few spiritual entities crowding around us, curious. I broke into cold sweat, and Bucko's hair stood on ends. The sound of distant mid town traffic provided some form of comfort.
Some scars remain long after the incident has passed. All it takes is driving by the location where the supernatural experience took place to bring back memories long forgotten. Celebrity Chef Bob takes time off from the kitchen to share an experience that has affected him since his teenage years.
In this episode, we caught up with Denisha who shared a personal story about a ghostly childhood friend who returned many years later to claim her unborn child. During the interview, we could see that Denisha was visibly disturbed by the memories.

In this episode, we catch up with another local paranormal investigator to find out what happened to her old team. We heard rumours that she almost died from a mysterious illness after her last investigation. Midway though the interview, Jane thought she saw a disembodied hand behind my right shoulder. We should have known that recording this interview in a well known haunted location wouldn't be smooth sailing.
