This week on, Can It Sandwich? I put our contestants through the paces. Layâs Three Cheese Layers potato thingys, Calbee Giza Giza Yuzu Kaoru Shichimi potato chips, and Covered Bride Storm potato chips (essentially a deconstructed All Dressed)
Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/inthechips/support
Much like the Covered Bridge The Weekender potato chips, these Storm Chips are a combo of four distinct flavors - Smokinâ Sweet BBQ, Sea Salt & Vinegar, Homestyle Ketchup, and Creamy Dill. And if youâre thinking, âwait a sec, arenât those the flavors of All Dressed?â Pretty much, yeah. But instead it all being in one flavor, its more of a grab bag where in you might get a fistful of All Dressed flavor or another combination. These were sent to me by Brtittannie who is celebrating 6 years of being together with her now fiancĂ© Scott. Congratulation, you two! Cheers!

So, I bought these chips because of the picture on the bag. But what I thought was togorashi, a Japanese five spice blend, turned out to be Yuzu Kaoru Shichimi, a Japanese seven spice blend that also uses dried Yuzu (citrus) peel. I also learned that âGiza Gizaâ means jagged. As in this ridged. I love to learn! Anyway, this potato chips flavor sounds interesting so letâs stop with the readinâ and get to the tastinâ.

These engineered (the first ingredient is dried potatoes) Three Cheese potato snacks from Layâs look a lot, and I mean a lot, like Turtle Chips out of South Korea. Iâm not saying theyâre identical, but boy howdy they are close. Anyway, these are supposed to have cheddar, parmesan, and gouda cheese flavor to âem. Letâs see if they nailed that, shall we?

Yes, weâre back with another Can It Sandwich? and this time weâre seeing if two of the chips can be redeemed. Both Pringles Rotisserie Chicken and Calbee Super Potato Sour Cream and Onion really kind of faltered in the individual round. Will they sandwich well? Who knows. One thing I do know is that the Torres Select Smoked Hot Paprika will absolutely sandwich.
Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/inthechips/support
Ya know, with all the paprika flavored potato chips on the market I've long wondered why there weren't any Smoked Paprika flavored chips? Well, Tores Selecta must've thought the same thing. ÂĄGracias!

Yeah, I got a little exited when I saw the words SUPER POTATO written in huge text on the bag. I mean, who wouldnât? And while the flavor of Sour Cream and Onion feels overdone, the bag also had what looked like a roasted onion. So, how could I not buy em?
Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/inthechips/support
Sure, Pringles doesnât have the best track record with flavorings. At least not here in the United States. Still, rotisserie chicken seems like a flavor they should be able to nail. Should, however, is not the same will.

Chips Oman Chilli potato sticks, Megachips Yoghurt and Herbs potato chips, and, of course, LeBron James featured Ruffles Flaminâ Hot Cheddar and Sour Cream. Should make for some tasty sandwiches. Letâs find out.
Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/inthechips/support
The big question, given that LeBron James is endorsing these chips, is will the flavor be a slam dunk? Come on, you know I had to make that joke right? Still, cheddar and sour cream is tasty combo and if theyâre actually âflaminâ hotâ this could be awesome.

Back in Bahrain today with Megachips Yoghurt and Herbs flavored potato chips. âwhat herbs?â you ask. Weâre just going to have to taste them to find out since they donât list them in the ingredients. By the way, this is another great find send in by my man Karl. Thanks Karl!

Honestly, I never thought Iâd see Chips Oman again. I mean, chances of me make it to Oman are pretty slim and they arenât sold around here (that I know of, anyway). Very different flavored chips this week. From Kettleâs Sea Salt and Crushed Black Pepper potato chips (from the UK) to San Carlo Lime and Pink Peppercorn potato chips (from Italy) to U.S.-based Snacklins with their Cinnamon Churro vegan plant crisps. This promises to be one interesting âCan It Sandwich?â

I love the concept behind this potato chip flavor but boy howdy, a cheeseburger has a lot of different flavors going. I mean, grilled meat, mustard, ketchup, pickles, and cheese at a minimum. Yes, Iâve reached the end of the Ballreichâs chips on hand. Thanks again to Josh for sending em in. Today, Iâm taking on Smokey Sweet Mesquite. Today, weâre rounding out MSCHF Illegal Chips week with their Horse Meat flavored potato chips. Horse meat is something few in the U.S. would dare try if it were available (I know I wouldnât) yet in France, itâs still legal to eat. With that context, MSCHF created these Horse Meat flavored potato chips. Remember, there is no horse whatsoever in these chips. They are attempting to recreate the flavor with seasonings, much like many chip manufacturers do with other flavors. All of that said, I have no idea how this is going to turn out.
Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/inthechips/support
Itâs a new year and why not kick things off with something a little different. If you're not familiar with MSCHF, itâs an app that does âdropsâ of limited-runâŠthings. Think of it as part art, part commerce.
Not too long ago they dropped a line of potato chips with flavored that attempt to replicate âillegal foods.â None of the potato chips Iâm reviewing this week are made with the flavor on the bag because, well, that would be illegal. And, to be honest, I wouldnât try if they were (well, maybe the Fugu).
The first one up is Casu Marzu, which is a Pecorino cheese from Sardinia. Sounds innocent enough, right? Oh, I forgot to mention that the cheese, which is also illegal in Sardinia itself, has live maggots in it. Yeah.

Quite the range on Can It Sandwich? this week. Layâs of China Pickled Fish potato chips, Grippoâs Sweet Maui Onion potato chips, and Chips Oman Salad flavored chips. Should be interesting sandwiching.
Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/inthechips/support
The good folks Oman Snacks were kind enough to send me these and letâs just say I am very curious. I donât think Iâve ever seen potato chips with the flavor of a salad. Should be interesting.

Yes, itâs time for another Grippoâs potato chip flavor, Sweet Maui Onion. You may remember that I looooved Grippoâs BBQ potato chips not too long ago. So Iâve got high hopes for these even though Sweet Maui Onion is not a favorite flavor as they tend to be too sweet. Big ups to @216carpenterdiem for sending these regional favs in.

Itâs a SpacedOutMunchies.com Monday here on In The Chips with Barry. I have to admit, when I heard the flavor of these potato chips I was less than enthusiastic. I mean, Iâm not a huge fan of pickled fish in general. Still, one must taste and rate the chips, right?
Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/inthechips/support
Well this was certainly an interesting potato chip week. Great Lakes Potato Chip Co. kicked things off with their Pickled Jalapeño. Followed by Crownâs Corn Chips from South Korea. And finally rounded out with Hawaiian Brandâs Way Out Wasabi. And I think each is going to do pretty well when I put them to the Tayto Cheese & Onion Crisp Sandwich challenge.
Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/inthechips/support
Ah, Hawaiian Brand. Sometimes their potato chips nail a flavor, other times not so much. Today weâre going to try out their wasabi flavored chips. And as per usual with most thing âwasabiâ flavored, it uses horseradish. But I say who cares as long as it tastes good, right?
Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/inthechips/support
Sure, you canât technically make a chip off of a kernel of corn that would be big enough to enjoy as a snack. But you sure can mash em up and form chips. Which is exactly what Crown from South Korea has done. Question is, are they too sweet like other corn chips? Let us be the ones who find out.
Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/inthechips/support
Yes, weâre back with another Great Lakes potato chip - Pickled Jalapeño. This is a brilliant idea for a potato chip flavor imho. Pickley goodness along with jalapeño heat? Yes please! Big ups to Sara for sending them in.
Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/inthechips/support
Well, this week should be interesting. The potato chips I reviewed Monday, while not terribly crispy, had a decent flavor going on with the seaweed, salmon, and teriyaki flavor. Calbeeâs Onion Soup potato chips were fine but didnât have much onion flavor. And Philongâs Hot and Spicy Crispy Salmon Skin was, well, interesting if not too rich. Letâs do it, to it!
Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/inthechips/support
Every once in a while I like to stray from the chip path to try snacks that are like cousins to chips. Like these here Hot & Spicy Crispy Salmon Skins from Philong over in Vietnam. I love crispy salmons skin when itâs cooked on a grill or in a pa. But deep frying is whole different kettle of fish. See what I did there? (sorry).
Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/inthechips/support
What? An American flag on Japanese chip maker Calbeeâs post? Yep, because these chips are, in fact, made for the American market. Now, the flavor says Onion Soup but much to my surprise, they donât mean French Onion Soup.
Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/inthechips/support
It is interesting to salmon teriyaki take a back seat to seaweed in a flavor yet that is exactly what Tasto of Thailand has done. Oh well, I love all three flavors so Iâm sure these potato chips will be tasty

Back again with Can It Sandwich? The program where I ask the hard-hitting questionâŠwell, I meanâŠmaybe not hard-hitting but stillâŠcan it sandwich? This week we try out Layâs Taiwan Beef Noodle flavor potato chips, Rap Snacks Romeo Miller Bar-B-Quinâ with my Honey potato chips, and Vitlök, GrĂ€slök & Chili potato chips from Sweden! âOh sure,â you say, âanother âCan It Sandwich?â In one sense youâre not wrong. It is another Can It Sandwich on In The Chips with Barry. But this one has real potential with Layâs China Roasted Cumin Lamb Skewer potato chips, Rap Snacks Migos Sour Cream with a Dab of Ranch, and GĂ„rdchips Sour Cream & Black Garlic potato chips. First off, I must apologize for my responsibility in killing the dab. My bad. Still, who doesnât love sour cream and ranch? Migos likes it I can tell you that much. I wish the Rap Snacks potato chips were a little thicker but so far their flavors are good enough to offset that.
Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/inthechips/support

Since the dawn time, humans have asked Can It Sandwich? Ok, that might be a slight exaggeration. At the very least itâs the question I ask on a weekly basis here on In The Chips with Barry.
This week we take on Pringles Thailand Mala Hot Pot, Zappâs Spicy Cajun Cratator potato chips, and Taco Bell FIRE! tortilla chips. Two of the three were fantastic on their own. And while the Zappâs werenât really spicy like the name implies, they were tasty. So imma sandwich âem

Not gonna lie, my high school years were partially fueled by Taco Bell. And while I donât really eat there anymore, I do have fond memories of their hot sauce. It was always flavorful, not just spicy. So, I am super-stoked to try these FIRE! tortilla chips from Taco Bell. The bag says âChallenge Acceptedâ which is pretty bold since that positions them like a Paqui One Chip Challenge which I am pretty sure they are not.
Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/inthechips/support
Yes, finally getting around to reviewing Zappâs Spicy Cajun Crawtator potato chips which, despite the name, has neither crawdads nor alligator in the flavor. Basically, theyâre just meant to be a spicy chip with Cajun seasoning. Which I am all for, to be honest.

Heading back over to Asia for some Mala Hot Pot Pringles. Can says theyâre made in Malaysia but has Thai writing and was sent to me by www.ThaiSnax.com so I gonna go with Thailand. Ok, weâre stepping off the chip train today to check out some Takoyaki Balls. Yes, these are based on the Japanese street food thatâs a wheat-based batter usually combined with octopus or tempura leftovers or even green onion. The little fried balls of dough are then slathered with Takoyaki sauce (similar to Worcestershire) and mayo, then topped with dried bonito flakes. Boy, thatâs a lot to pull off in a snack. And while the bag shows octopus, it makes no appearance in the ingredients list. Go figure.

Found this intriguing flavor at World Market/Cost Plus. Theyâre from Chicago but the chef of Lillieâs Q restaurant, who makes the chips, is from South Carolina. They have all the flavors of All Dressed but each chip has one of those flavors. As opposed to all chips having a combo flavor. A little disappointed there but oh well. Guess Iâll just have to shove âem by the fistful into my mouth to get the full effect, lol.

Time once again for Can It Sandwich? Yes, this week Iâm taking on the Cuban Press potato chips from Whole Foods and the Pepperoncini potato chips from Kettle Brand. So, can they sandwich?
Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/inthechips/support
Hey, itâs Pepperoncici time! Yes, finally getting around to tasting what has to be, according to my DMs, one of the more popular Kettle Brand flavors. I love pepperoncini on just about everything else but it is a very particular flavor. Did they nail it?

Of the three limited-edition flavors Whole Foods put out last year, Pastrami on Rye, Italian Hoagie, and Cuban Press, I only got to try the first two. So, I was pretty stoked to see Cuban Press on the shelf. Well, somewhat stoked because letâs face it, the other two flavors last year were not great. So, did they nail this one?

Itâs Monday and you know that meansâŠmore In The Chips with Barry. Only today, instead of potato chips, Iâm checking out Gusto Mega Surprize Salted Corn Snacks from Poland. Yes, they literally say the flavor is âsalted corn.â My guess is that most people buy this for the toy inside because hoo boy, it wasnât exactly a barn-burner when it comes to flavor.

Letâs do this! Can It Sandwich? is your weekly, soft-hitting news source for whether the chips I reviewed during the week can, in fact, sandwich. Now that I think about it, that is very specific. Still, no other source has this information. Only on In The Chips with Barry. This week is a double-header from Koikeya - Creamy Mozzarella & Lemon potato chips and Koikeya Craft Shrimp & Tomato Cream corn snacks.

Heading over the España for some Quillo Balsamic Wine flavored potato chips. Sure, thereâs no such thing as âBalsamic Wineâ but that didnât stop the flavaradores at Quillo from trying to make it happen. So, howâd they do?
Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/inthechips/support
I like to eat. Clearly. But I donât think Iâve ever even heard of combining creamy mozzarella and lemon before. Let alone on a potato chip. So, this should be interesting

Oooh, whatâs this? Did someone say extruded corn product? Yum! So yeah, the form factor here is decidedly Cheetos, not potato chips. But the flavor combo of shrimp and tomato cream isnât exactly one Iâd put together in real life. So, how were they? Listen and find out.

Can It Sandwich? The program that dares to ask, âwhat happens if we put (almost) every chip reviewed on In The Chips with Barry between two slices of buttered bread?â Ok, that is fairly specific and I am pretty sure no one else is asking that. Still, gotta do what I gotta do. This week, Iâm putting RW Garcia Organic Bar-B-Q Corn Chips and Old Dutch Smokey BBQ Potato Chips through their paces. What happened to Utz Maui BBQ potato chips? They kinda sucked to being with so not gonna sandwich âem. Themâs the breaks.

Oh yeah, itâs Mr. Singhâs Week here on In The Chips with Barry! Mr. Singhâs started out making sauces in his East London shed and has grown into a full blown chili empire. Naturally, I had to try their crisps and they were kind enough to send over one of each of their four flavors. Iâm kicking things off with their mildest flavor - Chilli, Cheese & Onion. And despite the flavor description, all of their chips are vegan. Oooooh, interesting!
