I want to thank you for seeing an episode title that mentioned elections and thinking, "Yeah, I want to listen to this. I can give thirty minutes of my busy week to learning more about this." Sometimes easier to put your head down and focus on the to-do list in front of you than it is to learn about politics. Although it might not seem as immediately applicable to your motherhood as an episode on how to manage a tantrum or a rebellious teenager, the political atmosphere and policies in our communities and schools does matter tremendously in our lives and the lives of our children, so thank you for listening in. Today’s guest is Laney Hawes. I have been blessed by her effusive love for people and her passionate opinions on the world. I love learning from her, and I am so honored to share her with all of you via 3 in 30.

ANNOUNCEMENT: If you've been listening to my show for the past couple of months, you know that I am in the middle of launching the second round of my nine-month program which is called Self-Assured Motherhood. This program only opens once a year, and I don't want any moms who need it to miss out on hearing about it and have to wait another entire year before they can sign up. Enrollment closes this Friday, September 23rd. I'm hopeful that today's episode will give you the push you need to sign up if you've been on the fence. Go to selfassuredmotherhood.com to learn more and to sign up before Friday Sept 23 at midnight.
If you are listening to this episode on the day it comes, I do have one more live masterclass I am teaching tomorrow, Tuesday, at 1:00 pm MST where I will walk you through a detailed self-assessment to see how you are doing in each one of these areas. Sign up for the free class at 3in30podcast.com/freeclass.
The nine-month program is built around nine pillars of Self-Assured Motherhood (we study one per month), and today you are going to get a taste of each of those pillars through the stories of some of the alumni of my program. I did little mini-interviews with these women and asked them to share one personal experience from their life that illustrates how they are embodying one of the core principles of self-assured motherhood.

This isn't just a sales webinar…this is actually the first class of my nine-month curriculum, so you can get a taste of what the program is like, even if you aren't sure you can commit to the entire program. Just go to 3in30podcast.com/freeclass to sign up, and the first class is tonight if you are listening to this episode on the day it comes out, so don't wait. I will be offering the same class several more times, so whenever you are listening to this episode, go to 3in30podcast.com/freeclass to find out more.
In honor of the Self-Assured Motherhood Program enrollment opening today, we are going to talk about one of the nine foundational topics that we explore in this program. When I emailed the alumni of the program and asked which topic had had the most impact on them personally, so many of them mentioned this unit- Sanctify Your Soul-Care, and they shared with me super poignant and powerful stories of how they had applied this concept into their lives, so I actually invited three of those women to come on the podcast today to share those stories with all of you--because I think every mom could probably use some help in this area.

Hello friends! This is a surprise mini-episode as part of a fun new series I am doing once a month where I introduce you to other wonderful podcasts that might bless and benefit your life.
These shows are all produced by or part of the podcast network that I am apart of, Cloud10 Media. It has been so rewarding for me to collaborate with other podcasters who are working hard to get their important messages out into the world.
Today I am excited to share a little bit about the show Minimal-ish. Minimal-ish is a podcast about striving to live with less of the things that don't matter, more of what does, and pursuing intention in every area of our everyday lives and motherhood. The host, Desirae talks about a realistic version of minimalism that isn't just about simplifying our stuff, but also the other areas of our lives like our calendars, routines, mindset, motherhood, work, finances, and everything in between. Desirae is a mom to two girls (4 months and 4 years), a high school English teacher, and has been podcasting since 2018. Her passion is sharing what she is learning on the journey of living with less stuff and more intention, along with making space for others to share their stories as well. For today’s mini episode, we are airing a clip about how oftentimes, clutter represents unmade decisions. Desirae poses some questions to ask yourself while decluttering any area of your home like: Is this item useful to me? Have I used this item in the past in the 1-2 months? Do I have plans to use this item in the near future? Do I have space for this item? Is it a gift? In this clip, you get an idea of Desirae’s thought process for making decisions that we have been putting off, and evaluating what’s really worth keeping. I’m so glad to be sharing this excerpt from the Minimal-ish podcast. After you listen, be sure to head over to the Minimal-ish feed to listen to the entire episode, which I will link in the show notes so it's easy for you to find.
So with no further ado, here is a clip from Desirae of the Minimal-ish Podcast!

The concept of having boundaries with our kids can feel a bit foreign and possibly selfish, but it can actually be one of the most loving things you do for your parent-child relationship. We are going to talk about that and so much more in today's episode with a very special guest, Stacey Collins.

I can think of almost no other role in this life that requires as much emotional resilience as being a mom. This episode's guest is Dr. Jen Riday, a mom of 6 with a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies. Jen is uniquely qualified to teach practical tools that bridge the gap between research and "real life,” and I know my conversation with her today will help you assess how you are doing with your own emotional resilience and give you a few practical ideas for how you can develop in this important way.

I first encountered the work of Rachel Macy Stafford in 2015 when she was a guest on one of the very first podcasts I ever listened to. I was struck by her warmth, authenticity and her message of "letting go of distraction, perfection, & pressure to grasp what really matters" in our lives. Today, we will be talking all about soul-shifts: what they are and how we can start to make them in our own lives as mothers. I can't wait for you to hear my conversation with a mentor I have loved from afar for a lot of years.

ANNOUNCEMENT You may remember that last fall, I launched a nine-month long program called Self-Assured Motherhood (or SAM, as I like to call it for short). The sign ups were only open for a short time, and I was thrilled to have almost 90 women join the program. These amazing mothers spent the last nine months working with me on becoming more confident and content mothers and women. We had nine different monthly topics with masterclasses and coaching and Q&A, and it was absolutely amazing.
I wanted to let you know that we are gearing up to launch the Self-Assured Motherhood Program again in September. If this is something that piques your interest that you might be interested in joining this year, I've created an interest list where you can sign up to get more information and to be the first to hear when the program opens for enrollment. When my kids were babies and toddlers, we had a rock-solid bedtime routine that my husband and I were completely in control of. We picked our babies up and went through our night-time routine before placing them in their cribs. But now that my kids are older, they push back way more on bedtime, especially in the summer when it stays light outside so late. It's hard for me to know if I should monitor every step of their bedtime routine so I can keep them moving along or if I should give them more privacy and independence.
With the new school year approaching, and needing to get back to a routine, I called in a sleep expert to interview on the podcast today.
Becca Campbell is a certified pediatric sleep consultant and the CEO and founder of Little Z’s Sleep (www.littlezsleep.com) and The Sleep Sorority. She has guided tens of thousands of families through the exhausting world of getting your child to sleep and is trusted by pediatric clinics and medical specialists across the country. Becca is also the host of the #3 globally-ranked pediatric podcast, Little Z's Sleep Podcast, and her expertise has been featured in outlets like Parents magazine, NBC news, yahoo!Life, and Toddler Purgatory. As a CEO, wife, and mother of two, she understands the importance of restful, restorative sleep, so she’s dedicated to helping families prioritize good sleep.

My son Noah is a creator. He spends hours every day building with LEGO, and if he ever finds a big empty box, it will surely become a fabulous creation within the day. I am obsessed with this boy's brain and his creativity, and I am so excited that today,to celebrate his 11th birthday, we get to hear from him on the podcast. When I asked him if was interested in being on the show, he responded without hesitation, "Of course I would! It would be an honor!" He is confident, funny, and a natural born leader, and I know you are going to get a kick out of his personality in this episode, as he teaches us how to encourage creativity in kids. I love him, and I can't wait for you to learn from him.

I wanted to give you a sneak-peek of something I've been working on this summer behind-the-scenes. If you've been listening to the podcast for a while, you may remember that last fall, I launched a nine-month long program called Self-Assured Motherhood and I was thrilled to have almost 90 women join. These amazing mothers spent the last nine months working with me on becoming more confident and content mothers and women. We had nine different monthly topics with masterclasses and coaching and Q&A, and it was absolutely life-changing for them AND for me. One mother sent me an email that said this: Being part of this program has been incredibly eye opening and transformational! Every single time I have a class, I go back to my husband I tell him that I don’t regret a single penny that we have spent on SAM! This all so far has been worth it and then some! Not only am I being so blessed by all of this, but my family is too! Thank you! That first round of the Self-Assured Motherhood Program ended in July, and we are gearing up to launch it again in September. So if this is something that piques your interest that you might be interested in joining this year, stay tuned for more information. You'll be hearing about it on my podcast episodes and in my weekly emails in the coming weeks. I cannot wait to get started with a new group of women, and I'd love for you to be part of it as well!

The show I am featuring today is a podcast that I love called Simple Families, which I have been listening to for several years. The host Denaye Barahona is a mother of two who also has a PhD in child psychology, so as she says in her podcast intro, "you're going to hear conversations that are based in research but more importantly real life."
Simple Families is a podcast for parents who are seeking a simpler, more intentional life, covering topics such as minimalism with kids, positive parenting, family wellness, and decreasing the mental load.
For today's mini-episodes, I hand-picked an excerpt from Denaye's show to air for you so you could get a taste of her work, and it comes from a recent episode she aired titled "Raising Critical Thinkers" with guest Julie Bogart.
There was a segment in that conversation that struck me to the core, all about how important it is to allow people in our families, including our own children, to have different beliefs from us and to know that they are still deeply loved, valued, and HOME when they are with us.
You are going to want to listen to every word of this excerpt from the Simple Families podcast and then head on over to Denaye's feed to listen to the entire episode!

Today marks 19 years since my mother died of breast cancer. I have dreaded this particular anniversary for a long time because I was 19 years old when my mom died, so starting tomorrow, every day that passes means that I've lived one day longer without her than I lived with her. As I get farther and farther away from her in days and years, I long to draw closer to her in other ways–to remember her, share her, and honor her. This episode is one way that I am doing that. “At some point, all of our children need us to be their voice…” This is a direct quote that I received in an email from Emily Orchard, a listener of this podcast who is a mother of four and a Speech Language Pathologist. As she’s worked as an SLP in the schools for the past 16 years, she has become passionate about teaching parents how to advocate for their kids. This topic became especially meaningful to her when she found that her own son needed some additional support and advocacy.
