For this edition of 30/C60 we are going back to the late '80s circa '89, that's 30 years ago! and a whole 2 years before I stepped foot in a nightclub. These are some of the late 80's tracks I remember having a massive influence on my musical tastes.
We start with a little Ragga Rave (proto-jungle) tunage then slip into some European Techno with the likes of N-Joi, Joey Beltram and Martin Price from 808 State with the very crude 'Pornography' with Lick My Gash. Oh and don't forget the Snow White samples from N.R.G, samples like this were only ever cool in the '90s.
Bit of a mixed bag of Old Skool Rave and Piano House, the kind of tunes that were played out in 1991. There are a couple of stand out tracks in the mix. It didn’t get any bigger than Love Decade’s - So Real, like the mixes name says, it was massive! And TC 1991 with a track called 1991 aka Berry. A couple of interesting facts about TC. The track samples a tune by Bizarre Inc called Technology from 1989. 2nd Fact: TC was the guys behind the FPI Project.
Simon wanted a Circa 1994 Jungle mix, so here it is. The Hardcore scene had split, Jungle tracks were starting to get darker and harder. If you was into your Hardcore Breakbeat it was time to choose between Jungle or Happy Hardcore!

A mix based around the sound of '92, when from memory the sound split from house and techno into breakbeat hardcore. The UK had taken all genres of dance music from around the globe and put it's own unique spin on things...
Huge piano riffs, massive synth lines and glossy production, early 90's Italo dance is a fusion of House, Techno, Disco, Hip-hop and anything else you can stuff into a Sampler, all arranged in a Europop format. It's cheesy as hell but always got the dancefloor rocking and still does to this day.
I couldn’t do a 90's Rave series without breaking into a Piano House mix. I tried not to be too
obvious with the piano tracks selected and ended up in techno city again for the ending.
The 2nd instalment comprises of some early hardcore breakbeat tracks with arguably 2 of the first D&B/Jungle tracks by 'Lennie De Ice' and Legendary '4 Hero'. There is also a splash of House, Techno and Bleep. This is how ‘Jungle Techno’ started!
The first in a series of 30-minute mixes exploring the raves years of the early 90's.

classics then moving into some hardcore European techno monsters.
