Known for an innovative approach to music inspired by American and Latin cultures, Latinx rock’n’rollers Making Movies are “breaking down walls in the U.S” (Rolling Stone). From their Panamanian & Mexican heritage to their fusion of international sounds and genres, Making Movies melds reinterpretations of cumbia, mambo, son, and salsa with blues and rock’n'roll, as well as traditional Mexican and Panamanian folclór, while singing in Spanish and English. Making Movies “synthesizes what’s happening in Latin music better than anyone else out there today” (MTV), having collaborated with salsa legend Rubén Blades on the Latin Grammy nominated song “No Te Calles”, as well as Steve Berlin of Los Lobos, and the late Lou Reed.
The Crown Crafted Concert Series presents F/M Duo. Jeff Freling (Victor & Penny) and Michael McClintock (Cubanisms" and Ensemble Iberica) combine their talents with elements of 1950s cool jazz, 1940s gypsy, vintage Cuban sounds, and original compositions to create a unique musical experience.
Join us for a collection of Hip Hop, Jazz and soul from Kemet Coleman, a one of a kind musical artist, urbanist and community builder in Kansas City.
Marcus Lewis leads not only this jazz quartet but an 18-piece big band. His latest project, “Brass and Boujee”, debuted on the iTunes Jazz Charts at #2 and the Billboard contemporary jazz charts at #15.
Marcus has a passion for education and is the Founder and Artistic Director of Future Jazz, a nonprofit dedicated to jazz education. He is also the Adjunct Jazz Trombone Professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance.

Combining both Spanish and Haitian-Creole language, Mundo Nouvo means "New World". This ensemble sources its material from the roots of Afro-Caribbean music with special emphasis on Cuban and Haitian traditions.
This version of their group features their Latin-Jazz Trio of William Crain (keys), Andy Avendano (drums), and Sean Mawhirter (bass) as well as vocalist Ramon Terrada.
Maria The Mexican is mixed with a touch of classic mexican folklore, blues, soul, funk, and rock n' roll. Combining a southwestern flare and melancholy motifs, Maria The Mexican rocks it out in Spanish and English with a host of emotion.
