This is my second album, released in September 2022. If you want to support me, you can stream/purchase this album on one of the platforms listed here: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/vladcrisu/moonlight-parasite-delightThis music came to be, as a result of the suffering I endured for a few months at the beginning of 2022, when our building was infested with bed bugs (and we didn't even know that's what it was, until about a month later when it was announced in a notice at the entrance in the building). I was the unlucky preferred victim of the bed bugs (my mom was actually the first one, she was staying with us at the time, but she returned to her home after a few weeks and was thankfully spared from then on). I've read that in many infested homes, not all people are bitten equally, most of the times the bugs seem to prefer one or two of the people in the house. Even so, only some people get very bad reactions to the bites (such as my mom and I), others seem to only get minor bite marks similar to moskito bites (which was thankfully the case for my wife and daughter). But in my case, the reaction was allergic, every new bite location on my body got swollen, red, painful and very itchy, similar to bees' stings. Once I inevitably scratched them because of the itch, they got even bigger, more swollen, more painful and they accumulated liquid inside them, and they would then break and cause further pain. I had big parts of my body covered in these. I think that's enough for you to get the point 🙂A few more thoughts about the writing and production process:I had many strong feelings to deal with during this period of time, and they all found their way into the music, although I think this time it's a bit different from the previous album. I am fortunate enough to be able to pour these feelings into music, to let them out in this way, they only real way I can deal with them. There is strong hate in there. Fear. Horror. Intense pain. Anger to last for months. But there are also good things in there for balance. For instance, a good night of sleep after many painful sleepless nights can feel like heaven. Spraying my house with deadly poisons to kill the bastards felt damn good. And so on.Once again I pulled all the stops and got as intense as I could, but I also experimented with contrasts and layering and building up the tension.I usually start developing musical ideas with a few instruments and then start adding more and more instruments as I get more and more ideas. I like to do whatever comes to mind, so everything goes, practically, which is why, for instance, in my previous album, I changed the musical genre in the middle of the track, or do unusual combinations of instruments or sound effects like in movies. There's that again here, but taken to a new level, I think. However, as I progressed, I noticed that somehow all instruments were acoustic instruments, I hadn't added any synths yet, and that remained until the end. Not sure why, it just came to be that way. Some of the ideas I remember exactly how I got, but many others are a mystery. I keep relistening to the whole thing to see if it's perfect, and in many instances I just can't even remember creating those melodies, harmonies, solos, transitions, rhythms, it feels surreal. It's like they came from nowhere.

If you thought the track title was cool, you'll probably be disappointed to know it's just a play on words with Spitfire LABS, the library that I used exclusively for this track. So this is basically a Spitfire LABS demo track, in which I unleash my inner odd timings nerd. I published this one before, with stock video footage, as a submission for my friend Andre Louis's (https://www.youtube.com/user/TheOnjLouis) #daydreamchallenge. The challenge was to use his theme in a track, with the exact same sound he used, so I built a track around it, that become one of my most popular amongst my friends. Very nice theme that I fell in love as soon as I first heard, so I just had to do it justice. I named this track Mount Ararat because that volcano is situated in an area where apricots are famously cultivated, and the lead instrument in this track is the Duduk, a wind instrument made of apricot tree wood. I felt the mood of the track can encompass the majesty of the volcano and the sweetness and the fruit and the beauty of the landscapes. This track started out as a possible backing track for one of my friends to do a guitar jam to, but after layering that duduk part as a solo placeholder in the track, and after my friend couldn't do the guitar solo anymore, it just kind of made itself in a whole track for this album. Not my usual style of composition, but I enjoyed it a lot nevertheless. This was the last track I worked on for this album. I started it after submitting my version of the Westworld scored scene for the competition organized by Spitfire Audio, when I realized that I had forgotten to fill in a web form that was required to participate in the competition, hence being disqualified from the start. I'm not arrogant enough to think I would have won the competition, but I was sad that I had blown my chance, because I worked a lot at scoring the scene for that contest. In the wake of that self anger and loathing, I came up with this track, building up the sadness and emptiness all the way through to the tension release at the end, and then the peace that came with accepting that whatever is is and whatever isn't isn't. I published this one before, with stock video footage, as an entry to the Orchestral Tools #outsidecompetition. I didn't win any of the prizes, but Orchestral Tools were cool enough to reward all participants with a free instrument from their upcoming Tableau Solo Strings, of which I chose the cello. Fantastic instrument. This track was supposed to express how I feel about going outside after lockdown, what I miss most about it. I started out with an optimistic feel, but then progressed through a darker tone. This track is a re-arrangement, a cover if you will, of the track "Audience Participation" by my friend Andre Louis. This is the original track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOfEOS6FDRc My track name is also a perfect anagram of the original title. I published this as a surprise for Andre and it worked, he told me he loved it and that he didn't recognize it until half way through. I had been wanting to do this ever since I first heard his original track, but I waited until I had a bit more skill and inspiration. This is a re-arrangement of an old track of mine from circa 2003, done in a guitar tablature software. Completely re-imagined with solo instruments, orchestra, percussion and epic vocals. Because I didn't have a legato cello instrument for one of the 2 lead parts, I split the part between 3 legato instruments that I had (flute, horn, and voice). This is a re-arrangement of an old track of mine done circa 2003 in guitar tablature software. Completely re-imagined with orchestra and choir and synths and drums. Another track name suggested as a challenge from my friend Andre Louis (https://www.youtube.com/user/TheOnjLouis). What would liquid lego sound like? This is my take on it. Includes my newly discovered favourite effect from AIR Music Technology, the Talkbox, a voice formant effect. Also the first time I used a vinyl effect (the free Izotope Vinyl). I published this track before as a crazy video with gas masks and stuff. I came up with this one as a suggestion from my friend Andre Louis (https://www.youtube.com/user/TheOnjLouis), one night after I had found out I could have the gas cut out of my apartment by the gas company, because of a beaurocracy issue. That night my internet went down as well, furthering my frustration, so I channelled all that anger into this track that expresses both my violent reaction to the events at hand, and the idiocy of it all. The vocals in the second part are Andre's singing and hitting a bottle, unaware of the fact that he might end up as the star of my track LOL. This track came as a challenge I did with my friend Andre Louis (https://www.youtube.com/user/TheOnjLouis), after a joke regarding garlic and chocolate. This is a demo track made entirely with sounds from the Sektor synth by Initial Audio. Definitely not the most representative sounds in the synth, but after playing with it a little bit I discovered these crazy fun sounds. The name is a play on words, a combination between the famous Area 52 and the name of the synth, because of the crazy alien sound of the track. I published this one before as a demo of the ProjectSAM The Free Orchestra library. The name is fitting for my switching from Reason to Reaper as my main DAW. This track came after a streak of brutal tracks that I did to express anger and frustration at various circumstances in my life at the time. So, naturally, when I had a few days of feeling good and coming up with this nice little track, there was no better name than "I Feel Good". Includes a few loops and vocal shots (pitched to chipmunk level) from Cymatics that I had received as freebies in e-mails and didn't quite know what to do with for some time. Also, first time I did jazzy piano chops :) If you want to support me, you can stream/purchase this album on one of the platforms listed here: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/vladcrisu/breaking-out-of-the-shell Subscribe to my channel for more videos: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkAaCHJeTqrdaWRu9-HL0rg?sub_confirmation=1 MY SOCIAL AND MUSIC LINKS: https://www.youtube.com/the-joy-of-finger-drumming Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/the_joy_of_finger_drumming/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/joy_finger_drum Metapop: https://metapop.com/TheJoyofFingerDrumming Discord: https://discord.gg/gcPEEHf

I published this one before, with stock video footage. This was my first metapop.com competition entry, for the Moonkits Beat Challenge, that my friend Andre Louis (https://www.youtube.com/user/TheOnjLouis) told me about. I gave it a shot because the prizes were very good, but, although I didn't win any, the free Moonkits beats that they offered as inspiration, that we had to include in our composition, were so cool that I pulled this track out of my... hat. I was so happy with it that I decided to start a Distrokid account and publish it, as a start to my official musical journey. A few months later, here I am releasing a full 18-track album in which I also include this track. Anubis was the Egyptian god of the dead, his head resembling a dog, perfect title for my track. Ok, SYNTHERAPY. This is my brainchild and I am seriously in doubt whether I can ever create a track that's better than this one, or even come closer to it. Originally started as another expression of anger over something that had happened that day, but then evolved into THIS!!! I give most of the credit to the Synthmaster Player synth from KVR331 Audio, which I got FOR FREE in my Launchpad Pro software bundle. What an inspiring collection of sounds! Most of the track is built upon Synthmaster (hence the tribute in the track name, but also includes other libraries and sound effects. I am planning to do sequels in this series when inspiration strikes. This is the one track that I spent most time working on so far, about 2 months on and off, and you will hear why once you listen to it. It started as a joke and it ended up one of my most loved tracks so far. It all started with the "audividiskibidibi..." vocal that can be heard throughout the track, which is actually a recording of the voice assistant in my frend Andre Louis's (https://www.youtube.com/user/TheOnjLouis) iPhone, of a long word that I sent him through whatsapp, a word that was meant to sound like a line from the classic "Scatman Song" by John Scatman. However, the iPhone voice assistant made a different thing from it, that made Andre and I laughed hard when we heard it, so I instantly knew I had to use this to make a small track. At the time I was playing with some Reason refills from a pack called "Darkscapes", which include epic Predator sounds, aliens, spaceships, creature, all sorts of weird stuff, so this evolved into a sci-fi action epic story that I will outline below. I used a lot of vocal and sound effects for the fighting scenes, and I would love it if I could find someone who would want to create epic 3D CGI visuals for this story, to accompany the music. Ok, so here's the story: it's about an alien mastermind invading the earth with its armies and its main powerful soldier, the predator kind of creature. The mastermind has a special kind of enchantment that she uses to give strength to her armies and the creature and guide them in the extermination attack. After the first attack, humanity is all but killed, very few remain, holed up in a cathedral, where they mourn the losses, encourage each other and plan the retaliation, as the aliens have suffered heavy losses as well and could possibly be defeated by a well planned guerilla suicide attack. The remaining humans prepare for battle at dawn, but have a final party the night before, to celebrate human life that could end at any moment for good. Unfortunately, the mastermind and the creature are already outside the cathedral. The mastermind plans to send the creature inside the cathedral and surprise kill all the remaining humans, to avoid further losses in the alien ranks. She tries to enchant the creature to give it strength and stamina for a quick devastating attack, but she fails at first and the creature glitches and freezes. She then deploys the demonic version of the enchantment, that brings back the creature and even allows it to hum the melody line that is being heard from inside the cathedral. The creature then proceeds to smash the cathedral wall and tries to finish everyone as quickly as possible, using a variety of weapons, but is mortally wounded in the process. It then tries to quickly return to the mastermind to be healed, only to give its final breath mere feet away from the cathedral walls. The remaining humans, finding new hope and strength after seeing the creature defeated, proceed to fight and kill all remaining aliens but the mastermind. As she is surrounded by humans chanting ”kill”, the mastermind attempts one last enchantment, hoping to create a diversion and escape, but is quickly shot to death. The end LOL If you want to support me, you can stream/purchase this album on one of the platforms listed here: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/vladcrisu/breaking-out-of-the-shell Subscribe to my channel for more videos: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkAaCHJeTqrdaWRu9-HL0rg?sub_confirmation=1 MY SOCIAL AND MUSIC LINKS: https://www.youtube.com/the-joy-of-finger-drumming Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/the_joy_of_finger_drumming/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/joy_finger_drum Metapop: https://metapop.com/TheJoyofFingerDrumming Discord: https://discord.gg/gcPEEHf
