Using the New Living Translation Bible (NLT)

Nobody stood and applauded them So they knew from the start This road would not lead to fame All they really knew for sure Was Jesus had called to them He said "come follow Me" and they came With reckless abandon, they came Empty nets lying there at the water's edge Told a story that few could believe And none could explain How some crazy fisherman agreed to go where Jesus went With no thought to what they would gain For Jesus had called them by name And they answered We will abandon it all for the sake of the call No other reason at all but the sake of the call Wholly devoted to live and to die for the… Steven Curtis ChApman. The other song that comes through spontaneously at the end is: I Surrender All (All to Jesus)..

We also chat to Phumlani about some interesting things in the new translation including some points where it differs from the previous translation. This new translation has been written in more modern zulu and seems to be a really good translation which is exciting and meaningful! Our prayer is that you would be touched as you listen to a special part of the greatest story ever told, which is in fact an absolutely true story! Nothing could be closer to the truth than Truth Himself!

We hear Phumlani’s story of growing up in Chesterville township, in very challenging circumstances. Redemption enters in and God does some special things .. We also cover some historical and current issues, including race and class and looking at the church’s role in society and endeavor to look at some spiritual solutions. Our hope and prayer is that more discussions will be had and that justice, reconciliation , healing , redemption will follow, and that we will more and more endeavor to really listen to each other, not just for facts but for feeling and meaning. Incarnational listening perhaps. It’s particularly important for us to listen to really understand, and not just to get our own next point across in a conversation. We need to listen particularly to those that have suffered the most...

William Carey was an amazing missionary to India and bible translator. His faithfulness, consistency and steady pursuit of God and the daily disciplines of his work are remarkable. Even more remarkable, in some ways was his faithfulness to his wife later in life when she became mentally ill and began attacking him physically. Almost everybody told him to take her to a special institution but he refused, saying that He has made a commitment to God to look after her “until death do us part”. William has become widely know as the “father of modern missions” and one of his most famous sayings is “I can plod. I can persevere in any definite pursuit. To this I owe everything”

It is so special to see in this excerpt shows Muslim government officials weeping at the memorial service of Emily’s martyred husband, Stephen. It’s precious to see the Holy Spirit at work , drawing these men towards Jesus as he softens their hearts. I’m reminded of John Wesley’s conversion , where he said “and my heart was strangely warmed”. Wesley has actually been full time in the ministry yet unconverted. I know this seems strange but it’s true. My own story is also such that I was going to church before I invited Jesus to come and love inside my heart. Before I surrendered and gave my life to Him. The Holy Spirit is at work in the lives of unbelievers, whether or not they are churchgoers, drawing them towards Jesus. We pray that readers and listeners of this podcast who may not know Jesus personally , receive Him into their hearts.♥️ . Prayer.🙏. Lord soften our hearts and draw us to You . Thank you that you died on the cross for us, for me. Thank you for your great , powerful and deep love for each one of us , personally . We receive You into our hearts. We receive Your love. We love You Lord. Help us to receive Your love and give Your love to others . In Jesus name. Amen🙏

Jeremiah had an intimacy with God probably closer than any other prophet and we can learn much from his precious heart and spirit. He was committed, self-sacrificial, and in touch with both Gods thoughts and emotions, which are intermingled together, and simultaneously perfectly integrated.. Jeremiah gives us a window into God’s emotional life like none of the other prophets do. Enjoy!

Psalm 91 is a beautiful, powerful Psalm that can be prayed over oneself or others when going through times of darkness and physical or spiritual oppression. God’s perfect love casts out fear because there is no fear in love. The whole Psalm is inserted below for reference. “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!” For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper And from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His pinions, And under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark. You will not be afraid of the terror by night, Or of the arrow that flies by day; Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, Or of the destruction that lays waste at noon. A thousand may fall at your side And ten thousand at your right hand, But it shall not approach you. You will only look on with your eyes And see the recompense of the wicked. For you have made the Lord, my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place. No evil will befall you, Nor will any plague come near your tent. For He will give His angels charge concerning you, To guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, That you do not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread upon the lion and cobra, The young lion and the serpent you will trample down. “ Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name. “He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. “With a long life I will satisfy him And let him see My salvation.” Verse 1 in the New Living Translation reads: “ Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the almighty.

So this morning I lose my bible. I sometimes lose my keys, but very seldom my bible. It’s a study bible so it’s quite big and hence not so easy to lose! After spending some minutes looking everywhere that I can think of, I eventually, do the thing that I should have done in the beginning. Can you guess what that is? .... yes, that’s right! .. pray! Somehow I often wait too long and first try to do things “in my own strength” , according to my own abilities and only later, in exasperation, get on my knees. It’s amazing how God responds to us according to his great faithfulness. God is a good God! A faithful God. 🌈. He loves us so much! ♥️. May you have a good Day today, in Jesus name. God bless you! 🙏
