Welcome to The Authentic Adventure Podcast, where we talk about the peaks and valleys of life while chasing our crazy God dreams! We will be chatting all things family, marriage, pursuing our dreams, creativity, and so much more!
Hey friend, it's Jasmine here. In today’s episode I share my heart with this new mini series where I will be interviewing my inner circle as we have an imperfect candid conversation on how we can be better friends to one another. I personally challenge myself to make sure that everyone in my inner circle doesn't look, live, believe, or aren't in the same season of life as I am. I believe there's so much to learn from one another, and how can that happen if I only am in relationship with someone who reflects me!?!? I hope this mini series inspires, encourages, and challenge you to not only take a deeper look at who your friends are, but also desire to learn how to become a better friend!
This idea was inspired years ago, when my dear friend Melissa, was diagnosed with breast cancer. Melissa shared that cancer showed her who her real friends were. I wanted to interview Melissa about how we could be a better friend to someone with cancer, however, we didn't get to do the interview before Melissa passed away.
So in today’s episode, I interview Erin, a dear friend, who grew up in the South. Erin shares what it was like moving to Chicago, navigating single hood away from family, and how our friendship grew deeper when Erin apologized for assuming I spoke Spanish. I end the conversation asking how I can be a better to her, and Erin shares some ideas. I hope you enjoy today's episode.

Today's episode was a spontaneous recording where I didn't know what the topic was going to be about, but I'm so glad we had this conversation. We are talking about sex, money....and communication in marriage, and all that we've learned over the last 12 years. We dive deeper into therapy, purity culture, identifying our triggers, and how taking ALL the personality tests has helped us to learn more about each other!

I (Jasmine) mentioned some scripture that I clinged onto when I was in the process of purchasing the firehouse, and wanted to share them with you below.
Matthew 10:10 (MSG) Don’t think you have to put on a fund-raising campaign before you start. You don’t need a lot of equipment. You are the equipment, and all you need to keep that going is three meals a day. Travel light.
Matthew: 10:42 (MSG) Accepting someone’s help is as good as giving someone help. This is a large work I’ve called you into, but don’t be overwhelmed by it. It’s best to start small. Give a cool cup of water to someone who is thirsty, for instance. The smallest act of giving or receiving makes you a true apprentice. You won’t lose out on a thing.”
In this episode we share about our college experiences, and how it shaped the way we are choosing to parent our girls. We also had some IG friends ask us some questions that we dive deeper into, like if we have college funds for our girls, and what happens if they don't know what they want to do when they graduate high school.
