Type 1 diabetes (T1D), is a form of diabetes in which very little or no insulin is produced by pancreas.. Insulin is a hormone required for the body to use blood sugar. With no treatment the blood sugar in your body will remain high. The common symptoms are frequent urination, increased thirst, increased hunger, and weight loss. Some people may experience additional symptoms such as blurry vision, tiredness, and poor wound healing. Symptoms may develop in just a few weeks.
The cause of type 1 diabetes is unknown. It is believed to involve genetic and environmental factors.
Risk factors include having a family member with type 1 diabetes. The mechanism of origination involves autoimmune destruction of the insulin producing beta cells that produce insulin in the pancreas.
Diabetes is diagnosed by testing the level of sugar or glycated hemoglobin (HbA1C) in the blood.
Type 1 diabetes can be determined from type 2 by testing for the presence of autoantibodies.

Key Injury and Violence Data "Injuries and violence affect everyone, regardless of age, race, or economic status. In the first half of life, more Americans die from violence and injuries — such as motor vehicle crashes, falls, or homicides — than from any other cause, including cancer, HIV, or the flu. This makes injury the leading cause of death among persons 1-44.
Injury- and violence-related deaths are only part of the problem Each year 214,000 people die from injury—1 person every 3 minutes.1 But these deaths are on the tip of the iceberg. Each year, millions of people are injured and survive. They are faced with life-long mental, physical, and financial problems.
Injury and violence also has an alarming economic toll. The total costs of injuries and violence in the United States was $671 billion in 2013. The costs associated with fatal injuries was $214 billion while nonfatal injuries accounted for over $457 billion.3"

Terrence Blackmon shares his true life experience with high blood pressure resulting in kidney failure and six years on dialysis . He is now living his best life four years after having a kidney transplant.
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a condition in which your kidneys are damaged and can’t filter wastes from your blood as well as healthy kidneys (kidney disease is chronic if it lasts for 3 months or longer). Because of this, wastes from the blood remain in the body and may cause other health problems. People in the early stages of CKD may not feel ill or notice any symptoms. The only way to find out for sure whether you have CKD is through specific blood and urine tests. Once detected, CKD can be treated with medicines and lifestyle changes, ( CDC..gov)
Key Facts
Adults with diabetes, high blood pressure, or both have a higher risk of developing CKD than those without these conditions.
Other risk factors for CKD include heart disease, obesity, lupus, and a family history of CKD or kidney failure.
