A community center should involve a variety of different activities, serving many diverse groups in order to be eligible. Social activities include meetings and gatherings of individuals and groups to pursue items of mutual interest or concern, including activities involving the community as a whole.
Joyce Yerwood was born Jan. 5, 1909, in Victoria, Texas. Her mother was a teacher and her father was one of Texas' first black physicians. Her mother, Melissa, died and she was raised by her father, Dr. Charles Yerwood.
