This is a reflection I recorded for one of my school assignments about a small reading group I created with a few of my students.
I made this podcast for a college class! I recorded a math lesson I watched, watched back a couple of times and took notes on a few things.
This is a podcast I created for one of my college classes here at Western Washington University. I talk about my personal, cultural, and community assets and how I expect, value and see a "normal" classroom being. Then compare it to how three students in the 2nd grade classroom I currently student for might expect, value, and see a "normal" classroom being. For privacy reasons, the names used in my podcast are made up :)

Hello everyone! My name is Jessi Shook and this podcast talks about the importance of pronouncing names correctly, especially those ethnic names of our ELL students and POC. As a future elementary school teacher myself I feel that it is super important for your students to feel welcomed and valued at school, which they won’t unless you start pronouncing their names the correct way! I will talk you through the negative feelings your students will feel if you mispronounce their name, and even give you a few tips on how to ask for help on pronouncing their names appropriately!
