A podcast that doesn't really serve a purpose or says anything truly interesting but rather exists because the hosts had nothing better to do and said, "screw it, let's make a podcast."
It's a Christmas themed episode, I don't know what more you would want from this description. In addition to our hosts, Kenny McCanse, Kyle Loomis, and Noah Stalcup, a special thanks to Luke Demarco, the ghost of Christmas Future's Intern.
In this Oscar Season, my cohost and I sat down to discuss our nominations for Oscar contenders for several different categories. In the midst of this we've set up an email for the podcast (unofficialonthefly@gmail.com), a twitter accound (@unof_onthefly), and while off the air we changed out instagram to (@unofficial_onthefly). Send us your votes to any one or all of these accounts and we will announce official winners when we feel like.
Hi, Noah Stalcup here, just writing a description that would fit the Noah Stalcup brand for an episode surrounding the one and only Noah Stalcup. That's right, no substitutes or copies of this guy. Not even remotely possible. Enjoy.
Hey there, this is Noah (or at least it's Kenny trying to write like he's Noah). I hope you enjoyed my super fun episode and getting to hear my soothing narration as I try to breath some life into the carcass of this podcast. Would have been better if I had narrated the whole thing, but I digress (again, this is Kenny trying to write as if he was Noah). Always believe in yourself and remember that taxes are hard and its cool if you don't always pay the right amount (that's a lie, make sure you pay the correct amount of taxes, these are not my words, but what I think Noah would say).
After several attempts to get my roommate onto the podcast, we finally did it. We sat down and ranked the movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
A week or so ago (I'm not really sure, time is weird) Noah and I took a quick day trip over to Atlanta to see a friend or two, watch some fish, and attend a Relient K concert. Thinking it had been too long since we scourged the internet with our presence (sorry about that) we decided to record bits and pieces of that trip to make a podcast episode. This was the best we could come up with.
Did what any sane person would do and tried to describe what our ideal alien would be. Also we get really sidetracked and end up talking about almost everything else besides our ideal alien.
We finish our series of "Meet the Stalcups" as we talk with Noah's youngest brothers, Seth and Jacob (who just so happen to be twins). We set out to talk about twin-ship and plans you could pull off with a twin. Of course, we almost immediately got distracted and talked very little about twins, oh well.
In a first of potential others to come, we take the last several minutes of our most recent episode and stretch it out into another episode that could have easily have been fit into one episode. Granted, this does make that episode shorter, and that makes certain audience members happy, so I suppose that rationalizes it. Anyways, we talk about On The Fly as a whole, why Josh had a staple in his hand, and continue to try and push the instagram page to figure out how many people are actually listening to this (and more importantly, WHY are they listening to this).
We celebrate the year (plus a few months) of On The Fly by revisiting the concept of the first episode, and having a verbal hunger games. We also get to continue our series of meet the Stalcups by having Josh Stalcup co-star and steal the show.
We have Noah's Brother, David Stalcup, on the show as a guest star. The only really notable thing about him is that he is a mechanic. With that in mind I thought it would be funny to have them review Cars 2, a (mostly) universally unliked film. To my surprise, they were both super excited to get to watch and review this film. Figures.
We finish off the beginning of season three, I'd describe it more but I really don't want to.
Here we start off season 3 by introducing our new co-host, long time listener and short term guest star, Noah Stalcup. As an introduction, we decided to do a bit of a reverse interview, by bringing on a guest star, Conner Gayda, and had him grill us with 100 rapid fire questions.
Our last day in Maine. We get dropped off in a park and have to kill time till six pm for our flight. We watch baseball, eat lobster rolls, and talk about slang terms.
We get to practice eating in a so called rehearsal dinner. In another astounding record, we record approximately thirteen minutes of content in a record breaking eight minutes. Try and beat that Joe Rogan.
We get to talk about our first day in Maine. Also, Kyle, our friend Max, and I all find out we get to share the same bed for the next couple days. One of us find this horrifying, and the other two think it's hilarious. Try to guess who stands where.
As On The Fly strives to break social norms, this episode hopes to become the first podcast recorded while flying economy class! It's highly likely that it's been done before, but we'll hold the record till someone else tells us it's been done before us. Don't really know what to say here, we're trying something new. A spinoff podcast hosted by none other than original podcast co-host, Kyle Loomis. Enjoy our first (of potentially many) episodes of "Off the Fly".
It all comes down to this, we finally produce and release the episode long-awaited for by new and olf fans alike of the podcast. In this thrilling conclusion to season 2 of "On the Fly", we break down a burning question that many have asked but few have answered. That question of course being, what is the proper way to rank the Harry Potter films based on Harry's hair? For while this exhilarating chapter concludes season 2, we have more episodes on the way. I would have said that in the episode, but I felt it important to not detract from the importance of the content of the episode for frivolous announcements such as this.
In this episode we fix the English language, nuff said. Also, we recorded this on a porch so we ask that you ignore the obnoxious wind sounds in the background. I'm continuing my journey of learning audio editing, but I'm not good enough yet to make it disappear completely.
A couple of friends and I decided to play a game called "Silicon Valley Startups" which we hope is entertaining for other people. If not, whatever, not like anyone's actually listening. Oh, and one of these guys were a little inappropriate, so now I have to actually put effort into this podcast (not fun).
I don't really know how to describe this one, but it's also only ten minutes, so maybe just give it a chance.
In this episode, Kyle and our friend Sam tell stories of me, Kenny, and sneak in one or two fake ones. Meanwhile, two of our other friends, Kasandra and Todd have to weed out the fake stories. Is it a slightly vain way for me to tell people how cool I am, maybe, but this also wasn't my idea, it was Kyle's. We also made the mistake of filming this in a public parking lot, which had lead to several people inviting themselves onto this episode. While it was fun to have all the surprise guests, it was a bit hectic.
As 2020 comes to a close we all agree that not really anyone saw the year playing out as it did. Knowing what we know now we're ready for anything this coming year, and so we've decided to make crazy predictions in the shape of a 2021 BINGO card. We also watch shooting stars while we record the podcast, and we're still not sure if that was a good or bad idea.
Like any messy breakup, there's always a question of who gets what. In the midst of me, Kenny, leaving for school, it was decided that I would share custody of the podcast with my former cohost, Kyle. I was also curious about what it was like to listen to this thing without being involved in its creation, and this was the best premise we could come up with.
In this episode I am joined by my good friend Luke Demarco as we go back and forth with one another, giving each other a single word, and then having to create an entire movie plot based on that word.
We're back, or rather I'm back since my season 1 co-host will not be joining me this season. Anywho, in this episode, my good friend Tanner Thompson and I have watched The Muppets from 2011 and want to share our opinions on it because we have nothing better to do and it is a great movie that needs to be talked about.
The only good thing about a bad movie are reading the reviews of them and wondering how something so weird and bad was ever made. The only down side is that some poor movie critic has to watch said bad movie. Kyle and I being the forward thinking go getters have decided to skip the torturous part of watching bad movies to review them and are going to guess the plots of movies based on their posters and IMDB descriptions. We also enjoy a tasty snack, not relevant to the movies, but I just felt it was important to share.
With the 2020 Olympics cancelled we've decided to move on to the next exciting event that was planned for this year, the 2020 election. Of course we know nothing about real politics, so all the politicians we talk about are made up, as well as the scenarios we've put them in.
In this episode we single handedly save the current movie landscape as we propose a new to way to reboot movies and give our own proposals. Take notes Hollywood.
We finish up our discussion as to who who would survive in our fictional fight to the death.
The first part of two where we choose 24 random "characters" and discuss who would come out on top if they were in a fight to the death. We also discuss what we would eventually call this podcast because we hadn't really thought of it before we started recording.
