This episode of “The Miller Show” was all centered around natural human rights but more specifically article two. Article was all about discrimination. Discrimination can range from racial, wealth, and gender discrimination. In this episode of “The Miller Show” we dive into multiple versions of discrimination. The first article talked about in this episode covered the killing of 15 year old Jordan Edwards. Jordan Edwards was shot while in the passenger seat of a vehicle driving away from officers. When the department released a statement about the young man, police chief Jonathan Haber originally said the car was driving aggressively towards officers but had to correct himself later on that the car was driving in the opposite direction of officers. The next article of discussion on the show covered the beating of Rodney King. King was a taxi driver in the Las Angeles area that was beaten by five LAPD officers while bystanders gazed in awe. Following the beating of King, L.A would burst into flames with the “L.A riots”. Now away from racial discrimination the next article was over gender discrimination. This article discussed how some men believe that the ban on women being able to drive in Saudi Arabia should stay in place. Men believe this because they say that women lack the intellect of men and should stay away from the wheel. While the ban is still being removed it is sad to see that women are still not seen as equals in some parts of this world. Finally, the fourth and final article talked about in this episode is over sexual orientation discrimination. This topic comes from a Christian bakery that refused to bake a cake for a gay couple. This topic sparked a lot of contrevoursey throughout the nation with people saying things like this is unfair, unequal, and flat out discrimination. While these are just a few examples of discrimination in our world today this is all that our speakers on “The Miller Show” had time for today.

I believe that music can change the world. It might sound strange at first but the music that we listen to in our everyday basis has ways to inspire people and change their lives. For example when i was just a child all i listened to was pop since that was the only thing that played in our car during long car rides. For the longest time i never had the access to other forms of music. That all changed when i was 7 one of my friends brought over his portable cd player and made me listen to one of his favorite cds. That was when i first discovered rap. It was weird at first since i couldn't understand clearly what the artist was saying but it was the beat that got me entangled with the flow of the artist. This got me interested in the rap genre so i decided to save up what little money i got and buy a portable cd player. I soon realised that my efforts were wasted since i needed a cd to play so i started to beg my parents to buy me a cd they said no but i wasn't going to give up that easily. I started mowing lawns and doing chores in order to obtain enough to buy me a cd. I was able to get about 12 dollars after 2 weeks of work . Sadly because i was a child i wasn't able to purchase a rap cd because of its explicit mature content. I left the store upset not knowing how else to obtain some music. A few days later my uncle caesar came to town and stayed at our home for a few weeks . One day he took me and my sister to the park and i noticed he had some rap cds i asked if he could sell me some. At first he said no but decided to sell me two cds and told me not to tell my parents. I listened to them for hours and hours until my cd player got worn down. my life was changed by this moment since music made me who i am today. As Bono once said “ Music can change the world because it can change people” and that is why i believe music can change the world.
What do I believe in. Well I believe that Miracles do happen. Once when I was high school we had our homecoming game against the most dominant team in the OK Red conference, the Rockford Rams. They were ranked fourteen places higher than us, West Ottawa rank-22 Rockford-8. Many news media believed that West Ottawa was going to lose, but as a school we were confident we would win. It came to game time we were ready for a war. On both the teams first drives neither of us scored. Then when Rockford was going for a pass we intercepted it and returned it for a touchdown. When we had the ball we fumbled to allow Rockford for a touchdown. After that when the rain came down we couldn’t gain any first downs. At the half we were losing 23 to 7. Everybody believed we were done and lost the game.Then to start the second half we received a kickoff for a 98 yard touchdown. After that we kept putting up so many unanswered points. By the start of the fourth we were up 35 to 23. Then they responded by scoring a touchdown. It was now 35 to 30 with 5 minutes left in the fourth. We had the ball and tried to run down the field to run the timer down. We then couldn’t make a first down so we punted the ball. They have the ball with three minutes left in the fourth. They moved the ball closer and closer in. With 10 seconds left on the broad, Rockford went for a pass that was intercepted to end the game. With that win West Ottawa was winning the conference, had secured a spot in playoffs, and ended a 15 year losing streak to the Rams. For the panther community we thought we would never beat this unbeatable team but we beat the odds and won.
