Blame vs. Responsibility.

View Details

We all know someone in our life who plays the victim.

The world is against them.

Things never go their way.

They blame other people, the weather, and just about everything outside of them for all their problems.

But what about you?

Do you ever fall into victim mentality?

Have you ever blamed your husband’s job for ruining your weekend?

For ruining your life?

What about your kids?

Do they make you {mad, frustrated, crazy, upset}?

I encourage you to give this episode an honest listen.

It’s not about blame.

It’s about empowerment and taking control of your own life.

One of the most common questions that I get about thought work is this:

“How do I teach this to others?”

“How do I get my husband to understand how life-changing this is--do you have any books you could recommend?”

“How can I teach this to my daughter. She REALLY needs it.”

And it makes sense that you would want to share something you love with those you love, right?

The problem arises when they just aren’t interested in learning about it.

Now what?

Listen to today’s episode for how to navigate teaching thoughtwork when those you love don’t accept it the way you hope they will.

Gratitude is one of my favorite emotions--it just feels so good!

But I've noticed a pattern.

Sometimes, as doctors' wives, we use gratitude as a way to punish ourselves.

Saying things like, "I know I should be grateful that my husband has a job at all, but it's just so hard to put the kids to bed on my own night after night."

The crazy thing about that thought is that it doesn't actually generate gratitude at all.

Listen to this week's episode to learn how to stop using gratitude against yourself.

I believe that most of us want to be happy when good things happen to other people.

Like your sister getting a kid-free vacation with her husband while your mom watches the kids.

Or your friend losing weight.

Or your husband's co-worker getting a raise at work.

Why, then, do we often find ourselves feeling jealous instead of genuinely happy?

Listen in to learn why this happens and what you can do when you want to be happy for others but find yourself feeling jealous instead.

From the time we are very very young, we are taught that we can control how other people  feel: "Don't say that or you'll hurt your sister's feelings!"

"Grandma will feel bad if you don't give her a hug."

"You make me so angry when you color on the couch with permanent marker!"

The reality is, none of these things are true.

Listen to this episode to find out why, and for advice on what to do if someone tells you that you have hurt their feelings.

Today's podcast will shed light on three areas of your life where you are asking yourself dumb questions (motherhood, marriage, to yourself) and how to ask yourself smart ones instead.

For years, while your husband was in training and your children were young, you probably worried at one time or another that they were missing out. You simply didn't have the resources to send them to expensive camps or buy them fancy birthday presents (or even clothes--hello hand-me-downs from cousins!).

Now that your husband is finished with training and your income has increased significantly, you might find yourself with the opposite concern:

Am I raising entitled children?

They have so many more opportunities than they have ever had in the past, and often many more opportunities than some of their peers.

Listen to today's podcast to answer this question: Am I raising entitled children?
