Reconsecrate

Romans 12:1-18

1 I exhort you therefore, brothers, through the compassions of God to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable service.

2 And do not be fashioned according to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of the mind that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and well pleasing and perfect.

3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think, but to think so as to be sober-minded, as God has apportioned to each a measure of faith.

4 For just as in one body we have many members, and all the members do not have the same function,

5 So we who are many are one Body in Christ, and individually members one of another.

6 And having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy

according to the proportion of faith;

7 Or service, let us be faithful in that service; or he who teaches, in that teaching;

8 Or he who exhorts, in that exhortation; he who gives, in simplicity; he who leads, in diligence; he who shows mercy, in cheerfulness.

9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good.

10 Love one another warmly in brotherly love; take the lead in showing honor one to another. 11 Do not be slothful in zeal, but be burning in spirit, serving the Lord.

12 Rejoice in hope; endure in tribulation; persevere in prayer. 13 Contribute to the needs of the saints; pursue hospitality.

14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.

15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep.

16 Be of the same mind toward one another, not setting your mind on the high things but going along with the lowly; do not be wise in yourselves.

17 Repay no one evil for evil; take forethought for things honorable in the sight of all men. 18 If possible, as far as it depends on you, live in peace with all men.

Luke 10:27 And he answered and said, “You shall love the Lord your God from your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole strength and with your whole mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”

Leviticus 6:12-13 12 And the fire on the altar shall be kept burning on it; it must not go out. And the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and he shall lay the burnt offering in order upon it and shall burn the fat of the peace offerings on it.

13 Fire shall be kept burning on the altar continually; it shall not go out.

Reset

Hebrews 12:12-13

12 Therefore set straight the hands which hang down and the paralyzed knees,

13 And make straight paths for your feet, that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather may be healed.

Hebrews 12:1-2, 5-6, 11, 15-17, 22-24, 28-29 1 Therefore let us also, having so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, put away every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us and run with endurance the race which is set before us,

2 Looking away unto Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down on the right hand of the throne of God.

5 And you have completely forgotten the exhortation which reasons with you as with sons, “My

son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor faint when reproved by Him;

6 For whom the Lord loves He disciplines, and He scourges every son whom He receives.”

11 Now no discipline at the present time seems to be a matter of joy, but of grief; but afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been exercised by it.

15 Looking carefully lest anyone fall away from the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and through this many be defiled;

16 Lest there be any fornicator or profane person like Esau, who for one meal gave up his own birthright.

17 For you know that also afterward, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected; for he found no place for repentance, even though he sought it with tears.

22 But you have come forward to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem; and to myriads of angels, to the universal gathering;

23 And to the church of the firstborn, who have been enrolled in the heavens; and to God, the Judge of all; and to the spirits of righteous men who have been made perfect;

24 And to Jesus, the Mediator of a new covenant; and to the blood of sprinkling, which speaks something better than that of Abel.

28 Therefore receiving an unshakable kingdom, let us have grace, through which we may serve God well-pleasingly with piety and fear;

29 For our God is also a consuming fire.

Luke 13:10-13, 16 10 And He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath.

11 And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and she was bent double and could not stand erect at all.

12 And Jesus, seeing her, called her to Him and said to her, Woman, you are released from your infirmity.

13 And He laid His hands on her, and instantly she was made erect and began to glorify God.

16 And this woman, being a daughter of Abraham whom Satan has bound, behold, for eighteen years, should she not have been released from this bond on the Sabbath day?

2 Timothy 1:6-7, 12, 14

6 For which cause I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

7 For God has not given us a spirit of cowardice, but of power and of love and of sober-mindedness.

12 For which cause also I suffer these things; but I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that He is able to guard my deposit unto that day.

14 Guard the good deposit through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.

1 Timothy 6:20a O Timothy, guard the deposit…

Ezekiel 36:26 I will also give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will take away the heart of stone out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.

Romans 5:5 And hope does not put us to shame, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

Romans 12:11 Do not be slothful in zeal, but be burning in spirit, serving the Lord.

Luke 24:32 And they said to one another, Was not our heart burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was opening to us the Scriptures?

Matthew 24:12 And because lawlessness will be multiplied, the love of the many will grow cold.

Revelation 2:4 But I have one thing against you, that you have left your first love.

Revelation 3:15, 19 15 I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. 19 As many as I love I reprove and discipline; be zealous therefore and repent.

This week concludes the series on our commission as working saints in the church life. After hearing the Lord's speaking to us throughout this series, how can we find a direction forward in our present circumstances? In this final segment, brother Minoru Chen presents a number of items on how we can apply this fellowship to make our consecration practical and effective.

This is episode 5 of 5 of the series entitled “Our Commission,” with excerpts taken from brother Minoru Chen’s message given to working saints (or young adults) in Irvine, CA on February 6th, 2008. His burden was to help us see the role and commission of the working saints based on the principles set forth in Numbers regarding the Levitical service.

Speaker: Minoru Chen,

In last week’s podcast, brother Minoru Chen cautioned us regarding the dangers of being idle and unfruitful as revealed in 2 Peter Chapter One. This week, brother Minoru shares further from Peter’s words a comprehensive antidote to such a condition. God has provided everything we need to live a fruitful life in His kingdom. By recalling, responding, being renewed, receiving, and resolving we can practically apply this provision in our experience.

This is episode 4 of the series entitled “Our Commission,” with excerpts taken from brother Minoru Chen’s message given to working saints (or young adults) in Irvine, CA on February 6th, 2008. His burden was to help us see the role and commission of the working saints based on the principles set forth in Numbers regarding the Levitical service.

In episodes 6 and 7 of our previous series, “Being Vitalized,” brother Andrew Yu warned us regarding the problems of leaking and drifting. In this episode, brother Minoru Chen speaks of the danger of becoming idle and unfruitful according to 2 Peter 1:8. Such conditions, if not avoided, will have a devastating impact on our Christian life and church life.

This is episode 3 of the series entitled “Our Commission,” with excerpts taken from brother Minoru Chen’s message given to working saints (or young adults) in Irvine, CA on February 6th, 2008. His burden was to help us see the role and commission of the working saints based on the principles set forth in Numbers regarding the Levitical service.

Speaker: Minoru chen,

The way we view ourselves dictates our actions and behavior. Therefore, we need an uplifted view, the divine view, to see that as working saints we should be the core of the church. If we realize this, we will take the lead to pick up the burdens of the church, and the whole church will benefit.

In this episode, we continue the series entitled “Our Commission,” with excerpts taken from brother Minoru Chen’s message given to working saints (or young adults) in Irvine, CA on February 6th, 2008. His burden was to help us see the role and commission of the working saints based on the principles set forth in Numbers regarding the Levitical service.

Speaker: Minoru Chen,

In the book of Numbers, God asked Moses to number His people according to their age. In particular, God charged a specific group of Levites “to do the work of service and the work of bearing burdens in the Tent of Meeting (4:47).” Although these age groups are Old Testament types and not to be applied literally in the New Testament, we can apply their spiritual principles to the church life today.

In this episode, we begin a new series entitled “Our Commission,” with excerpts taken from brother Minoru Chen’s message given to working saints (or young adults) in Irvine, CA on February 6th, 2008. His burden was to help us see the role and commission of the working saints based on the principles set forth in Numbers regarding the Levitical service.

Being Vitalized for a Normal Christian Life and Service. Sometimes when we find ourselves drifting in our spiritual life, we may want to blame the current of the world. However, the real reason we drift is because there is no direction in our Christian life. Therefore, even a small current will eventually carry us away if we do not set proper goals.

In this episode, brother Andrew Yu challenges us to get the direction of our life under control by setting waypoints and having our companions check us. This practical fellowship can help us avoid the leaking and drifting away in our Christian life.

The accompanying reading material used in this meeting is Brother Watchman Nee’s message entitled “Leaking and Drifting” from The Collected Works of Watchman Nee, Volume 21.

Speaker: Andrew Yu,

Being Vitalized for a Normal Christian Life and Service. The book of Hebrews was written to all of us. As those who believe in the Lord Jesus, we have left the world behind us and are pursuing toward something before us. In order to arrive at our destination, we have to set proper goals in our life to keep us on the right track.

In this third episode taken from a fellowship in 2008, brother Andrew Yu concludes the reading of Brother Watchman Nee’s message entitled “Leaking and Drifting”, with an exhortation to the working saints to commit to changing the way we live by setting up waypoints and being accountable to companions.

Speaker: Andrew Yu,

Being Vitalized for a Normal Christian Life and Service. In Hebrews 2:1, the apostle Paul admonished the Hebrew believers to “give heed more abundantly to the things which have been heard lest perhaps we drift away.” The Greek word for drift conveys both the meaning to leak or slip away, as well as to drift away with the current and become lost.

In this second of three episodes taken from a fellowship in 2008, brother Andrew Yu leads the reading of Brother Watchman Nee’s message entitled “Leaking and Drifting” from The Collected Works of Watchman Nee, Volume 21. Watchman Nee is burdened that believers would not allow the things of Christ to leak away.

Being Vitalized for a Normal Christian Life and Service. In the Bible there are three kinds of living: the living that was in Egypt before salvation, the living in the wilderness after salvation, and the living in the good land as the goal of our salvation. In this first of three episodes taken from fellowship given by brother Andrew Yu in 2008, our brother was burdened that we, as the real Hebrews or river crossers, would not get stuck wandering in the wilderness but would enter into the good land, signifying a new kind of living, a vital living.

The accompanying reading material used in this meeting is Brother Watchman Nee’s message entitled “Leaking and Drifting” from The Collected Works of Watchman Nee, Volume 21. This is episode 6 of 9 in the series on “Being Vitalized for a Normal Christian Life and Service”.

“Nothing is real to you until you bring it to prayer. Everything you hear is inspiration. Until you pray, it’s not yours.” In this fellowship from 2008, brother Andrew Yu challenges us to all find a vital companion in the new year and get together with them weekly to pray. “If two or three see this revelation, touch the power of Christ’s resurrection, and pray in one accord, they will shake the ends of the earth—Matt. 18:18-20; Acts 1:14; 4:23-33” (Crystallization-Study Outlines—Acts, Chapter 1, Section 1). This is episode 5 of 9 in this series.

As believers, we need to realize the importance of the period of time between our 20’s and 40’s in determining our usefulness to the Lord. In this fellowship from 2007, brother Gerald Chan shares his burden for those of us going through this stage of life to redeem the time so that there could be a progressive manifestation of our function in the Body of Christ. This is episode 4 of 9 in this series
