Responsible for enabling 95% of the UK’s global trade, maritime touches every part of our lives. Quite simply, without maritime, half the world would freeze, and half the world would starve.
From working at sea or in a port to working in the City of London, to cleaning the oceans of plastics or designing a superyacht, maritime is big business. We add more to the economy than both rail and aviation combined. Working in the maritime is exciting, rewarding and unlike any other industry.
With the sector expected to double in size to $3trn by 2030, we need the next generation of innovators and problem solvers to join the industry and help shape the future of the world we live in.
There are lots of different routes into a career in maritime, including a university qualification or an apprenticeship.

CMR was founded in 2001 by Steve Cameron, experienced in managing teams of technical experts in international and multicultural business environments within the shipping, ports, terminals, logistics, and supply chain markets.
Stephen trained at sea and ashore for 10 years with the cargo division of Cunard Cargo Shipping. He was then part of the management that for 20 years developed and successfully ran O.T. Africa Line, a specialist West Africa-focused liner shipping, logistics and terminal operations company, where he was Operations Director and board member responsible for business development. He also spent 4 years at rti Forensics, where he developed the maritime risk, safety and security consultancy, together with post-incident investigation services and dispute resolution services.

A list of COVID-19 related resources is also available on their website. * Seafarer Support * SeafarerSupport is a UK free telephone and signposting service. Seafarer Support assesses the needs of the individual and then signposts you to the appropriate support. Call them on FREEPHONE 0800 121 4765. * Sailors Helpline * The Sailors Helpline is based out of Chennai, India. Its purpose is to serve the maritime fraternity of India with emergency social services. Confidentiality is of prime importance and all calls and emails in liaison with this organisation are kept completely private. It is an NGO and non-governmental in nature, attracting volunteers from the legal profession, the church and others involved in the industry.
