Over 19 teams took part in the inaugural Casting for Kids Musky Tournament, hosted by Wisconsin’s men’s hockey associate head coach Mark Osiecki Saturday on Lake Monona, raising money for the American Family Children’s Hospital and the UW Carbone Center. A dinner and auction was held after the fun day of fishing. More than $33,000.00 was raised for the Children’s Hospital. A big welcome to Phillip Theisen of Theisen Adventures in Antigo, WI. Phillip will be giving us an up-to-date North Woods fishing report: what is biting and what they are biting on and where they are hiding. Many things affect the conditions and the population for the harsh winters, spring and the bird hatch, and how the summer weather affected the population. Welcome back to Brian Stichter of High Brass Sporting Dogs. Brian is hosting a “DUCK CAMP CAST & BLAST” October 14 through the 22 and you can join in! Here is a little snippit of the Cast & Blast: “Plentiful wood ducks, local mallards, teal and on occasion Canada geese will fill your morning. Then head back to camp for breakfast. From there you will have the option of fishing the lower Wisconsin river for small mouth bass and walleyes with some of the most successful fishing guides in the state or an upland bird hunt at one of our local shooting preserves. Lunch will be served at camp or in the boat. After your afternoon adventure back to camp to make evening plans. Kevin Wallenfang, Wisconsin DNR Big Game Ecologist, has agreed to come back and talk with us again! Kevin will be talking about the County Deer Advisory Council Meetings this fall. Each county in Wisconsin has a County Deer Advisory Council (CDAC) to provide input and recommendations to the department on deer management within their county. Coursing through most of these valleys are thousands of miles of spring creeks that support excellent aquatic insect life, crustaceans, forage fish, and of course, trout.”
