One day I woke up and realized I no longer knew who I was. Working 50 hours a week, raising five children, and taking care of a large home—somehow I lost myself in the shuffle. To further complicate the matter, I did not like who I had become. I prayed to Heavenly Father begging for help and the answer received became a leap of faith which changed my life in more ways than ever imagined.
This is a true story of a journey my husband and I found ourselves on while encountering several job changes over a six year period, taking us on adventures in four different states. It is about self-discovery, finding gratitude, growing faith, and realizing happiness in the most unexpected places. It is a testimony of complete conversion through repentance and forgiveness, overcoming personal struggles, and the blessing of receiving the baptism of fire.
The 17 cent Miracle emphasizes trusting the Lord’s plan and the unseen paths that are quietly being orchestrated by angels behind the scenes. Ultimately understanding that our trials and the lessons learned from them eventually lead to some of our greatest blessings.
If you live up to your privileges, the angels cannot be restrained from being our associates. ~Joseph Smith
And ye shall offer for a sacrifice unto me a broken heart and a contrite spirit. And whoso cometh unto me with a broken heart and a contrite spirit, him will I baptize with fire and with the Holy Ghost, even as the Lamanites, because of their faith in me at the time of their conversion, were baptized with fire and with the Holy Ghost, and they knew it not. ~3 Nephi 9:20
A trek back to our Heavenly Father is the most important trek of our lives. ~ M. Russell Ballard
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ. ~1 Peter 1:7
"I spotted the golden figure of Angel Moroni through the treetops, gleaming stately in the clouds. Unexpectedly, the answer I had been praying for came to my heart right then and there."
Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing; and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God. ~D&C 88:119
I promise that as you and I observe and keep the law of tithing, indeed the windows of heaven will be opened and spiritual and temporal blessings will be poured out such that there shall not be room enough to receive them. ~David A. Bednar
This book is my testimony "that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass." ~Alma 37:6
And he who receiveth all things with thankfulness shall be made glorious; and the things of this earth shall be added unto him, even an hundred fold, yea, more. ~D&C 78:19
A grateful heart is a magnet for miracles.
Wherefore, do the things which I have told you I have seen that your Lord and your Redeemer should do; for, for this cause have they been shown unto me, that ye might know the gate by which ye should enter. For the gate by which ye should enter is repentance and baptism by water; and then cometh a remission of your sins by fire and by the Holy Ghost.~2 Ne 31:17
When you are in a dark place, you sometimes think you have been buried. Perhaps you have been planted. Grow.
You will never know the fullness of Christ until you know the emptiness of everything else.
"Maybe the journey isn't so much about becoming anything. Maybe it's about unbecoming everything that isn't really you so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place." ~Unknown
"I took my troubles to the Lord; I cried out to Him and He answered my prayer." Psalms 120:1
I truly feel that it is one of the adversary's tools used to convince us that keeping miracles hidden is the right thing to do. In fact, we are told to share our truth and miracles.
“…have miracles ceased? Behold I say unto you, Nay; neither have angels ceased to minister unto the children of men.
For behold they are subject unto him, to minister according to the word of his command, showing themselves unto them of strong faith and a firm mind in every form of godliness.
And the office of their ministry is to call men unto repentance, and to fulfill and to do the work of the covenants of the Father, which he hath made unto the children of men, to prepare the way among the children of men, by declaring the word of Christ unto the chosen vessels of the Lord, that they may bear testimony of him.
And by so doing, the Lord God prepareth the way that the residue of men may have faith in Christ, that the Holy Ghost may have a place in their hearts, according to the power thereof; and after this manner bringeth to pass the Father, the covenants which he hath made unto the children of men.” ~ Moroni 7:29-32
It is by sharing our own miracles that others may have their eyes opened, inspiring them to have the same type of experiences. My hope and prayer is that my story may be relatable to your story. That you will see that I am not special and understand that I am a normal person and very much like you. I hope by reading this book you will find courage in your own life to make changes and take that one big leap of faith that has been waiting.
