Anthony Davis played 28 minutes and finished with 17 points, Schroder had 16 points and 10 assists. Luka was tearing down the defense with the pick and roll especially in the second half. Montrezl Harrell did not play in this game as coach Vogel figures out the rotation with all the big men now healthy. Dallas is now only 1.5 games behind the Lakers.

The Lakers got Anthony Davis back in the lineup but that wasn't enough to take on the Dallas Mavericks as they go down 115 to 110. Andre Drummond dominated the boards finishing with 19 and 14 points, AD had 4 points 17 minutes, Schroder finished with 25 and 13 assists and KCP led the team with 29 points. Although some Laker players had great individual performances they were not able to contain the Maverick offense. The Lakers are slowly moving down in the standings as they are only 2.5 games ahead of the 6th and 7th seed.

The Lakers come out with a big win over the Utah Jazz 127 to 115 with both teams missing their best players. Drummond, KCP and Schroder all had big scoring games and Morris finished with a double double. The Lakers were firing on all cylinders in this game until they let a 14 point lead in the 4th quarter disappear. However, Schroder put his head down and used his speed to make the last 6 points in regulation including the last bucket with 3.5 seconds to go.

The Lakers were not able to match the offensive firepower of Jaylen Brown as he scores 40 to give the Boston Celtics the win of 121 to 113. Marc Gasol was back in the lineup and had a great game finishing with 18 points as Andre Drummond was out as he got his nailless toe stepped on again. Although the Lakers lost the game, the bench players started to form a comeback in the fourth quarter and the Celtics had to bring back their starters to finish the game, the Lakers are deep. THT finished with 19 points and Ben McLemore with 17.

The Lakers get a hard fought win over the Charlotte Hornets 101 to 93 with Kyle Kuzma leading the way with 24 points and Schroder finished with 19. All the 10 Lakers that played scored and were on the court more than 9 minutes so this was an all out team effort that went down to the last quarter. Markieff Morris was out on this game due to his left ankle injury from the previous game. Alex Caruso was the key to the win in this game as he locked down Devontae Graham and knocked down a dagger 3 pointer in the last plays of the game.

The Lakers go down to the Miami Heat 110 to 104 and remain number 5 in the western conference standings with 32 wins and 20 loses. Andre Drummond returned after losing a toe nail and played 27 minutes to finish with 15 points and 12 rebounds, KCP had his best game of the season finishing with 28 points. Schroder had himself a nice game with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 14 assists. THT was suspended for this game due to him leaving the bench during an altercation last game that also got Harrell a fine by the NBA. Kyle Kuzma was also out because of a calf strain which left the Lakers short handed for this game. Nevertheless, they made it a good game due to their defense and lost their grip in the last few minutes of the 4th quarter.

The Lakers were running plays and making shots against the Toronto Raptors and win the game 110 to 101. On defense they were able to keep the Raptors to just 15% from 3's and 40% overall from the court, granted they were missing Kyle Lowry and Fred Van Vleet. THT came off the bench and led the team with 17 points. Energy was better in this game for the Lakers and we hope they continue this in the last stretch of the season.

The Lakers looked good on both sides of the court last night against the Sacramento Kings and got a win 115 to 94. It's easy to run teams off the court when your 3 pointers are going in, the Lakers finished 17 for 33 at 52%. Kuzma had one of his best games this season leading the team with 30 points and KCP was the only player with a double double for the team with 13 points and 10 rebounds. The bad news is the Lakers cannot catch a break with injuries as Wesley Matthews reaggravated a neck injury that started the previous game and might miss some time to recover.

The Lakers go down to the Milwaukee Bucks 112 to 97 last night that featured Andre Drummond's first game and although a disappointment because he only had 4 points and 1 rebound in 14 minutes and injuring his right big toe. Kuzma finished with 16 points, Schroder finished with 17 points and 8 assists, Harrell had 19. The Lakers set a season high for 3's in a quarter after making 8 in the first but they ran out of gas after that and struggled for the rest of the game.

The Lakers have now won 2 in a row after defeating the Cavaliers on Friday and the Orlando Magic last night 96 to 93. It was not an easy win but they showed up to play and defended the home court, Kuzma finished with 21 points, 11 rebounds, Morris had 12 and 11, Harrell also finished with a double double and 18 points and 11 rebounds and Schroder had 24 points. The bigger story for the Lakers is that they got Andre Drummond to join the team for some much needed help around the rim with AD still being out for a few more weeks.

The Lakers have lost 3 in a row now after going down to the New Orleans Pelicans 128 to 111 last night. The Lakers are still without their top players Lebron and AD and will struggle to find their rhythm without them. Devontae Cacok got the start at center for this game but only played 13 minutes. 6 Lakers players finished with double figures in scoring with Harrell leading the way at 18 points. Kuzma had a double double with 16 and 10. They were able to put up points but were no match defensively for the power of Zion Williamson and the mid range shots of Brandon Ingram.

As if the Lakers didn't have enough trouble with injuries this season, Lebron James is out a few weeks with a high ankle sprain. They go down to the Phoenix Suns 111 to 94 after bringing out a small starting lineup against them with Morris starting at center. Despite the blowout score the Lakers did show some good fundamental basketball and competed throughout the game. Schroder was causing trouble on the defensive end and finished with 22 points, Harrell was the best offensive player with 23 points and 10 rebounds but was outmatched on defense against the bigger Deandre Ayton. THT also showed a lot of aggressiveness trying to score the basket and finishing with 17 points off the bench.

The Lakers increase their winning streak to 4 after defeating the Charlotte Hornets 116 to 105 with a dominating performance Lebron as he finishes with 37 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Schroder also had 22 points and 7 assists. The Lakers started off the game aggressive on offense in the first half following Lebron's lead but let off the gas a bit in the 3rd quarter and allowed the Hornets to catch up and tie the game. The Lakers bench players have been performing better as the season moves on without the injured Anthony Davis and Marc Gasol, this is a good thing once playoffs come around.

The Lakers had a -8.5 odds for last nights game against the Minnesota Timberwolves and they get a win 137 to 121. Lebron James was the MVP of the game as he finishes with 25, 12 and 12 in only 31 minutes. We had a high scoring and close game in the first half but the Lakers came in with a different mindset after halftime to run away with it. The bench was on fire with Harrell pounding in 25 points, THT with 16 and Kuzma with 16. Schroder had 16 points and 7 assists.

The Lakers were able to keep up with the kings offensively as Kuzma ended with 25 points and 13 rebounds, Schroder had 28 and 9 assists and Harrell finished with 26 and 12 rebounds. Welcome to the daily Laker, a Los Angeles Lakers fan podcast, today is February the 27th, 2021. This podcast is brought to you by brownlab media and brownlabmedia.com

The Lakers put a stop to the losing streak with Dennis Schroder back in the lineup. They beat the Portland Trail Blazers 103 to 92 on the defensive containment of Damian Lillard as well as a much needed spark in offense from Schroder, Harrell and Caruso. The Lakers are still struggling from long range going 7 for 27 on this game but they had more blocks and steals and less turnovers than Portland. Effectively relying on their defense to win games like they did last season.

Lebron James finished with 28 points, 11 and 7, Dennis Schröder 22 points, Montrez Harrell had 17 points and 9 rebounds and Caruso finished with 10 points

The Lakers have now lost 4 in a row after going down to the number 1 team in the western conference the Utah Jazz 114 to 89. The Lakers were not able to run an efficient offense in this game and only Lebron and Harrell ended with double figures in scoring. Utah dominated from the 3 point line and the game was over after 3 quarters. It has been hard for the Lakers to find their footing without Anthony Davis and Dennis Schroder.

Lebron James finished with 19 points, 4 and 4, Kuzma had 5 points and 7 rebounds, Montrez Harrell had 16 points and 6 rebounds

The Lakers take another loss, this time to the Miami Heat 96 to 94. Lebron James was not as aggressive in this game as he needed to be with AD and Schroder sidelined another game. Kyle Kuzma led the Lakers in scoring as he started the first half of the game looking to take the open shots. Harrell finished with a double double and was as energetic as he can get on the basketball court but his minutes were split between Marc Gasol and Markieff Morris. There are rumors that the Lakers could look at bringing Demarcus Cousin into the team.

Lebron James finished with 19 points, 9 and 9, Kuzma had 23 points, Montrez Harrell had 18 points and 10 rebounds, KCP finished with 11 and Matthews had 10.

The Lakers go down to the Brooklyn Nets 109 to 98 without Anthony Davis who might miss 4 weeks with the achilles injury and Dennis Schroder. The Nets were using a small lineup that was hard to contain and the Lakers continue to be on a slump from the 3 point line. On a good note, Lebron breaks another record in his 18th year in the league as he becomes the 3rd player to score 35,000 points.

Lebron James had 32, 8 and 7, Kuzma had 16 points and 10 rebounds, Montrez Harrell had 10 points and THT finished with 9

The Lakers beat the Thunder in overtime one more time 114 to 113 without Anthony Davis and Alex Caruso on the lineup again. Lakers struggled for most of the game but especially on defense, Lebron bailed out the team with a huge 3 pointer at the end of the 4th and a defensive stop in overtime. He keeps pushing the team forward as they have now won 6 consecutive games but it's coming at the expense of a lot of minutes.

Lebron James finished with 25, 6 and 7, Schroder 19 points, 7 and 5. Harrell 21, Kuzma 15 points and 9 rebounds.  Matthews finished with 10 points.

The Lakers beat the Thunder in overtime 119 to 112 without Anthony Davis and Alex Caruso on the lineup. Not the best outing for the Lakers in this game but Lebron led the team in the end to victory. Easily putting up his third triple double this season and coming up with big buckets. Markieff Morris got the start instead of Davis but was outperformed from Kuzma, Mathews and THT from the bench. The defense was sloppy but they were able to put it together in the last minutes of the fourth quarter and overtime to progress their winning streak to 5 games, the most this season.

Lebron James had 28, 14 and 12, Schroder 19 points, 7 and 5. Harrell 21 and 8, Kuzma hustles his way into another double double off the bench with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Matthews finished with 16 points.

Welcome to the daily Laker, a Los Angeles Lakers fan podcast, today is January 29th, 2021. This podcast is brought to you by brownlab media and brownlabmedia.com

The Lakers have now lost 2 games in a row after going down to the Detroit Pistons, 92 to 107. Anthony Davis was out for this game with a Quad contusion, Kuzma took his place in the starting lineup and finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Lebron James played the most minutes in the team and tried to do it all, finishing with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists. Schroder finished with 10 points and THT had 13  points off the bench. The 92 points that the Lakers scored was their lowest tally for a game this season, which goes to show how important AD is to their offense. Coach Vogel said in an interview that they just couldn't find the right rotation throughout the game and that cost them on both sides of the court. It was an off night and they'll look to bounce back.

Next game is tommorow, against the Boston Celtics at 5:30pm pacific time.

The Lakers lose 107 to 106 in what could be a preview of the NBA Finals against the Philadelphia 76ers. Lebron James had another great game but just wasn't enough to win this one. This hands the Lakers their first loss on away games this season. They missed a lot of opened shots and free throws that had them trailing for most of the game. They made a big push in the last minutes of the 4th relying on their defense but in the end Tobias Harris put the game away with a 2 pointer over Caruso.

Stats for the game: AD finished with 23 points 8 rebounds, Schroder had 16 points, 4 assists and Caruso finished with 10 points

Lebron James was the dominant player against his old team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, with the final score being 115 to 108. He started the first quarter on fire to push the Lakers to a lead and finished the fourth quarter again taking over offensively as he finished with 46 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. He later revealed that a Cavalier executive was clapping when he missed a shot in the third quarter and that gave him the motivation he needed to take over the game. With this win the Lakers also continue their road game winning streak to 10 in a row and are 14 and 4 in the season. Today marks the 1 year anniversary of Kobe Bryant's death and with that we remember all of the entertainment, will to win and inspiration that he brought to us in life. Rest in peace Kobe.

Stats for the game: AD finished with 17 points 10 rebounds, Montrezl Harrell finished with 15 and 6, Schroder and KCP both had 10 points

Anthony Davis scores season high in points as the Lakers win their 9th straight game on the road for the season against the Chicago Bulls. The game finished with a score of 101 to 90 as the Lakers were winning by up to 30 points in the second quarter. On offense the Lakers were more focused on running plays through AD and it worked out nicely on all ends. On defense the Lakers were smothering the paint and getting in passing lanes to continue to show their strengths and why they are the number 1 defense in the league. No player was over 29 minutes of gametime and all the bench players had some time on the court.

Stats for the game: Lebron James had 17, 11 and 6, AD finished with 37 points 6 rebounds and 3 assists, Schroder 9 points, Montrezl Harrell finished with 10 and 5.

The Lakers go down in a close game against the Golden State Warriors with the final score 115 to 113. The Lakers got off to a commanding lead in the first quarter and were up almost the whole game until some turnovers, bad defensive breakdowns and missed shots lost them the game. In Lebron's long hall of fame career, he had never lost a game when leading by double digits into the fourth quarter in regulation which goes to show how consistent he is at winning games. This was a game the Lakers should have won if they continued to play the way they have been the last few weeks but they beat themselves on this one and going up against a team led by a superstar like Steph Curry is no easy task.

Stats for the game: Lebron James had 19, 5 and 5, AD finished with 17 points 17 rebounds and 7 assists, Schroder 25 points, Montrezl Harrell finished with 17 and 8. Kuzma had a double double with 15 and 10 rebounds.

The Lakers started the game slow against the Pelicans but picked up the pace in the second half and ultimately running them over, the game ended with the Lakers on top 112 to 95. The difference maker here being in turnovers where the Lakers had 6 and forced 21 on the Pelicans. They have now won 5 games in a row. Dennis Schroder showed a lot of resilience defensively to keep the game close after being down 15 points. The Lakers came out into the 3rd quarter more focused and put the game away. Once again all the players in the bench got some minutes in the 4th quarter.

Stats for the game: AD finished finished the game with 17 points 6 rebounds and 5 assists, Lebron had 21, 8 and 11, Schroder put up 12 points, 5 and 4, Harrell had 16 points 5 rebounds and Kuzma finished with a double double making 13 points and gathering 11 rebounds

The Lakers have now won 7 games straight on the road to start the season to make franchise history after defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder 128 to 99. Anthony Davis had a dominant performance from the start of the game as he took advantage of his size and shooting ability over the smaller and younger defenders. Lebron went off on threes as he also had the height advantage over the smaller guards of the Thunder. The Lakers seem to have put things together on the defensive end these past few games that has led to them winning overwhelmingly over their opponent.

Stats for the game: AD finished with 18 points 7 rebounds, Lebron had 26, 6 and 7, Schroder put up 14 points, 5 and 5, Harrell dominated off the bench with 21 points and 6 rebounds

Every Laker player got a chance to play in this game as the Lakers were the dominant team throughout the 4 quarters with the game finishing at 117 to 100. The first quarter finished with Lakers on top 35 to 14 which showed they brought both the defense and offense ready to execute.

The highlight of the game came from Lebron James as he hit a no look 3 pointer to win a bet against Schroder. Following the game AD and Schroder both said that they are still learning how to play with each other as a team but that they are going out there every night to play the right way and have fun. Wesley Matthews will be out and Anthony Davis is questionable tonight with a jammed toe.

Stats for the game: AD finished with a double double at 19 points 10 rebounds, Lebron had 26, 8 and 5, Schroder, Harrell and KCP contributed 14 points each, and Kuzma had 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The Lakers get a blowout win against the Rockets 120 to 102 in a very physical game with shoving, technical fouls and ejections. THT had one of his best games so far on offense with some nice footwork inside as well as some 3s but on defense he was using his length to poke balls for some easy steals. The defensive stops turned to a lot of transition offense opportunities and the Lakers were looking like the team from last year. Anthony Davis called out the team for their lack of defensive effort and they answered the call.

Stats for the game: AD finished with 27 points, Lebron had 18, 7 and 7, Schroder 8 points 7. KCP was back in the starting lineup and pitched in 7 points. Off the bench Montrezl had 16 points 8 rebounds and THT went off with 17 points.

Markieff Morris and Wesley Matthews joined the starting lineup in this game as KCP is still out with the left ankle injury and Anthony Davis was out with a right adductor strain . The Lakers still looked disorganized on defense for this match and Zach Lavine took advantage of that by putting up 38 points. Everyone had to step up and do their job for this one, Wesley Mathews with the 3's in the second half, Schroder with the timely baskets in the 4th, Harrell with the trash talking dunks and and one's, even Jared Dudley got some minutes in the third quarter and he brought the energy to wake the other guys up. Not an easy win by any means but an important one if they want to keep the goal alive of not losing 2 games in a row this season.

Stats for the game: Lebron James had 28, 7 and 7, Schroder 17 points 6 assists, Wesley Matthews 14 points. Montrezl Harrell finished with 17 and 14. THT and Caruso both added 9 points off the bench.

The Lakers win their second game against the Grizzlies by just 2 points on the backs of AD and Lebron. Although this was a low scoring game for the Lakers, they were able to put enough points together in the end to get a W. The Lakers have now won 4 in a row and are first in the western conference standings. Part of the reason this was a close game was the lack of performance from the bench as the Lakers were outscored 36 to 22. Alex Caruso and KCP could be back in uniform next game.

Stats for the game: Anthony Davis had a monster game with 26 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks. Lebron James had 26 points 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Dennis Schroder had 12 points, 6 assists. Montrezl Harrell had 9 points and 7 rebounds off the bench.

The Lakers win the first of 2 games against the Grizzlies on this road trip. The game was close for the first 3 quarters until the Lakers went into attack mode in the fourth led by Lebron and the bench. KCP was out of the lineup due to the left ankle sprain from the previous game against the Spurs. This moved Kyle Kuzma to the starting lineup and gave THT and Mathews more minutes.

Stats for the game: Anthony Davis finished the game with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Lebron James had 22 points 13 rebounds and 8 assists. Dennis Schroder had 11 points, 5 assists. Montrezl Harrell had 16 points and 9 rebounds off the bench.

The Lakers win their second consecutive game against the San Antonio Spurs by clamping down on defense in the 4th quarter and only allowing 18 points. They finished the game on a 9 - 0 run and throughout the game they benefited from leading in offensive rebounds and points in the paint. KCP sprained his left ankle early in the 3rd quarter and did not come back.

Stats for the game: Anthony Davis led the Lakers with 34 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Lebron James had 26 points 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Dennis Schroder had 15 points. Kyle Kuzma had 11 points off the bench.

A storyline to pay attention to:

An article from USA today titled, "Lakers news: Alex Caruso out at least two more games" states that Alex Caruso is inching his way back into the Lakers lineup after missing the last few games due to the league's health and safety protocols. It is possible that the Lakers will wait until they are done with their current road trip and return home to LA on January 7th to face the Spurs for the last time this season.

The Lakers get a W over the Spurs to move to 3 wins and 2 loses in the season. The bench provided some firepower in the offensive end today led by Matthews, Kuzma and Harrell. Anthony Davis finally recorded his first blocks of the season. Finally, Lebron celebrated his 36th birthday yesterday as well as recording his 1,000th consecutive game with at least 10 points

Stats for the game: Lebron James led the Lakers with 26 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Wesley Matthews stepped up to the plate and did not disappoint with 18 points in 22 minutes by going 6 for 6 from threes. Anthony Davis finished with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Dennis Schroder had 21 points.

A storyline to pay attention to:

The LA Times released an article titled, "LeBron James celebrates 36th birthday with an NBA milestone and a Lakers win" Here is what Lebron had to say about last nights experience, “I just go out and try to prepare and be the best every night when I step on the floor,” James said. “And if I’m in uniform, I’ve got to do things to help our team win. Scoring, rebounding, defending, assisting, doing the little things and just be available for my teammates throughout the course of the game when I’m on the floor and also on the bench, and I’ve been fortunate enough to do that in my career for the majority of it.”

Welcome to the daily Laker, a Los Angeles Lakers fan podcast, today is Tuesday December 29th, 2020. This podcast is brought to you by brownlab media and brownlabmedia.com

The Lakers suffer their second loss in the season to the Portland Trail Blazers as their defense struggles late in the game. Although Lebron had one of his best games this season so far Anthony Davis had one of his worst. Last year the Lakers had one of the best 4th quarter defenses in the league and this is something they need to figure out soon to avoid losing more of these close games.

Stats for the game: Lebron James led the team with 29 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Anthony Davis had a slow day with 13 points and 10 rebounds and Dennis Schroder had 24 points 4 rebounds and 4 assists.

A storyline to pay attention to:

CBS sports released an article titled, "How the Blazers exploited Montrezl Harrell defensively and reminded the Lakers of their true identity" in which they highlight Harrell's weakness in defending the pick and roll. It was an especially costly move by coach Vogel to leave him in the game for 16 consecutive minutes on the court against two of the best perimeter players in Lillard and McCollum. Fatigue was visible throughout the fourth quarter as he consistently got caught in between players without space to make a defensive presence on the ball. Nevertheless, this is still only the 4th game of the season and the Lakers are still experimenting on which lineup is best suited for finishing games.

Welcome to the daily Laker, a Los Angeles Lakers fan podcast, today is Monday December 28th, 2020. This podcast is brought to you by brownlab media and brownlabmedia.com

The Lakers win easily over the Minnesota Timberwolves 127 to 91 led by Kyle Kuzma who replaced Anthony David in the starting lineup. The wolves were without Karl Anthony Townes.

Stats for the game: Lebron James did not need to play after the 3rd quarter for this game but still managed to put up good numbers, finishing with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Kyle Kuzma led the team with 20 points. Marc Gasol finally came to life and got 12 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and Dennis Schroder had 11 points 4 rebounds and 4 assists.

Highlights of the game: Kuzma started on fire making the first 9 points of the Lakers on 3 3 point makes starting at the power forward position due to AD being out for game to a calf contusion. He continued with some flashy passes and great blocks. Since the game was a blowout all the bench players got some minutes. Lebron rolled his ankle near the end of the second quarter and still played in the 3rd quarter but he will likely miss tonight's back to back game to get some rest.

A storyline to pay attention to:

CBS sports released an article titled, "Marc Gasol's give-and-go passing is teaching Lakers benefits of movement, making champs even more dangerous" in which they highlight how Gasol is improving the Lakers half court offense, one that was not very good last season. Lebron and AD demand so much attention and defenders gravitate to them when they have the ball, this creates passing opportunities to open shooters. The give and go passing that Gasol has been showing the team is creating more movement without the ball and getting more players involved. How much better can this offense get?

Welcome to the daily Laker, a Los Angeles Lakers fan podcast, today is Saturday December 26th, 2020. This podcast is brought to you by brownlab media and brownlabmedia.com

The Lakers got a big win yesterday on Christmas day against the Dallas Mavericks with the final score being 138 to 115. The Lakers were coming off a loss to the Clippers so they seemed to have a bit more juice for this game on National Television.

Stats for the game: Lebron James finished with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists, Anthony Davis had 28 points and 8 rebounds, Montrezl Harrell ended with 22 points and 7 rebounds, Dennis Schroder with 18 points and 6 assists.

Highlights of the game: The Lakers bench stepped up in this game led by Harrell, Kuzma and Morris. They also outrebounded the Mavericks 53 to 27 which led to 35 to 0 in second chance points. Also, Lebron is now second in most points scored on Christmas day games behind Kobe Bryant. Oh and yes Lebron air balled a free throw in this game.

A storyline to pay attention to:

Senior NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Los Angeles Lakers have begun contract extension talks with Dennis Schroder. He initially declined an offer for an extension earlier this year after he was acquired through a trade from the Thunder. The strategy for Schroder is that after February 16th of next year he will be able to sign a contract for more years and money. Now the question is going to be if the Lakers are willing to spend that much on him but looking at his experience and skills he is one of the best point guards the Lakers have had in a long time.

The Lakers were not able to overcome the scoring efficiency from Paul George during last night's game and lost 116 to 109.

Stats for the game: Lebron James led the team with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists, Anthony Davis had 18 points and 7 rebounds, Montrezl Harrell had his first double double with the Lakers putting up 17 points and 10 rebounds and Dennis Schroder almost had a triple double with 14 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists.

Highlights of the game: Although the Lakers lost their opener of the season, they were able to show that they have the ability to make comebacks in any games when they fall behind just like they did last season. Also, Harrell and Schroder continue to show why they were a great addition to the Lakers this offseason as they both had impressive statistical games.

A storyline to pay attention to:

We got an article from ESPN titled, “Los Angeles Lakers won't unveil NBA title banner without fans”. The Lakers have decided to hold off on showing the championship banner until fans are allowed back into the facility and Covid has subsided. The president of business operations for the Lakers, Tim Harris, said that he likes to look at the banner as an award for the fans as the rings are for players and the trophy for the owners. To be clear, the banner is already hanging but it is covered with a black cloak that reads "Stay tuned, Lakers family" in gold block letters.

We got an article from ESPN titled, “Los Angeles Lakers, F Kyle Kuzma agree to 3-year, $40M extension”. Kuzma has taken a step back in minutes played per game since the arrival of Lebron, this has also brought down his statistical output. He still shows flashes of his offensive strengths from his ability to make shots form the perimeter but has not been consistent enough to be earn a sport in the starting line up. The Lakers are putting it in paper that they want Kuzma to be a part of this Lakers team that should be in the running for more titles while Lebron and AD lead the team. The contract will allow him to become an unrestricted free agent at the age of 28 which will allow him to be on the market for the highest bidder.

Welcome to the daily Laker, a Los Angeles Lakers fan podcast, today is Saturday December 19th, 2020. This podcast is brought to you by brownlab media and brownlabmedia.com

The Lakers won last nights game against the Phoenix Suns 114 to 113, finishing out the preseason undefeated.

Stats for the game: Anthony Davis led the game with 35 points, Lebron finished with 20 points and 8 rebounds, KCP had 15 points.

Highlights of the game: The Lakers started off slow in the first half but ramped it up in the 3rd quarter to make it a competitive game. Lebron and AD both played more minutes and they look ready for the start of the season. Now the question is how much load management will they require throughout the season, especially during back to back games.

A storyline to pay attention to:

We got an article from ESPN titled, “NBA GMs pick Los Angeles Lakers to defend championship in survey”. In this survey done annually by NBA.com, the Lakers were picked to defend their title with 81% of the vote, the Clippers came behind with 11%. AD and Lebron got 18% of the vote for winning the league MVP award behind Giannis at 32% and Luka at 21%. Lebron also won the GM's vote as the best player at the small forward position with 57%.

Welcome to the daily Laker, a Los Angeles Lakers fan podcast, today is Thursday December 17th, 2020. This podcast is brought to you by brownlab media and brownlabmedia.com

The Lakers scored 43 points in the 4th quarter of last nights game against the Phoenix Suns to get their 3rd victory of the preseason. 13 players played in the game including Lebron and AD.

Stats for the game: Talen Horton-Tucker finished the game with 18 points and 5 rebounds, Kyle Kuzma had 23 points, Anthony Davis had 10 points and Lebron James finished the game with 11 points.

Highlights of the game: Kuzma got the start for this game and he took advantage of the opportunity, he played 32 minutes and led the team in points by taking some good shots with no hesitation. THT continues to show his offensive toolbox by driving in and creating his own shots. Also, Quinn Cook looked really nice coming off the screen from the bigs and pulling up for shots around the perimeter.

A storyline to pay attention to:

We got an article from the Lakers outsiders titled, Caldwell-Pope after preseason debut: “My confidence is through the roof”. The Lakers paid KCP this offseason to stay with the team, earning a 3 year deal worth 40 million after a consistent showing during the regular season and stepping up in the playoffs and finals. Last season he managed to achieve new personal records from field goal and 3 point percentages. If he can continue with those number this year he will be very valuable to the Lakers as he will find himself open when Lebron or AD demand the double teams.

Welcome to the daily Laker, a Los Angeles Lakers fan podcast, today is Monday December 14th, 2020. This podcast is brought to you by brownlab media and brownlabmedia.com

Stats for the game: Talen Horton-Tucker finished the game with 33 points and 10 rebounds, Kyle Kuzma had 25 points, 6 rebounds, Montrezl Harrell had 19 points, 11 rebounds and Quinn Cook had 14 points and led the Lakers with 7 assists.

Highlights of the game: Marc Gasol spent a lot of time at the top of the key and used his court vision and smooth passing skills to get some nice assists to open teammates, this reminded me of the Pau Gasol years. Some of those passes from Marc were to THT who put on an offensive show with slashing layups, easy open dunks and step back shots, even finishing the game 4 for 5 from the 3 point land.

A storyline to pay attention to:

We got an article from the la times titled, The youngest Laker, Talen Horton-Tucker, is stealing the show so far in the preseason, in which the writer makes a case for more minutes for the young second year player. Many of the veterans in the team are shocked when they think about how confident he plays the game at only 20 years old. The Lakers come in to this season with a very deep team already but with Covid still being an obstacle that every team will face this year, the stronger the bench is the higher chances the teams will have at not missing numbers in the box score. Here is a quote from head coach Frank Vogel in regard to THT, “It’s going to make my job difficult for sure,” “We have a very deep team. No minutes are guaranteed.”

We got a Laker game tonight Sunday December 13th against the clippers at 5:30pm pacific time.

A storyline to pay attention to:

We got an article from cbs sports titled, NBA Top 100 player rankings, a team-by-team breakdown: Lakers, Clippers, Nets boast the most; Knicks have zero, this is their annual top player rankings and the Lakers are 1 of the 7 teams with at least 5 players in the top 100. Here is how they play out on the list, Lebron James is at number 1 in which they say he is still undeniably the best player in the league, followed by Anthony Davis at 5, Marc Gasol at 81 who they say will bring a versatility to the team with his court vision as well as a brick wall in defense. Montrezl Harrell comes in at 82 and Dennis Schroder at 83, who finished as the 2 best 6th man last season with Harrell winning the award and Schroder coming in second. If I was a betting man I think this shows the Lakers have more depth in the line up coming into this season which will greatly increase their chances of running it back to another championship. How do you guys feel about this rankings

The Lakers get the first dub of the new season against the clippers, although this is just a preseason game, it's always great to see them win.

Some notable stats, Kyle Kuzma finished the game with 18 points, Talen Horton-Tucker led the team with 19 points, Montrezl Harrell got his first double double with 12 rebounds, 13 points and finally Dennis Schroder with 10 points.

The highlight of the game for me was Harrell as he looked really comfortable in the laker line up and uniform. Putting on a show against his old team.

A storyline to pay attention to:

we got an article from silver screen and roll titled, The Lakers are ready for Kyle Kuzma’s moment. Is he?, in which they question if Kuzma's ceiling is still higher than what we have seen in his first years in the NBA. He is being regarded as a better than average defender against small guards due to his ability to alter their shot with his length. He has also shown his strength in catch and shoot situations. But what about his on ball perimeter defense and dribbling the ball to create his own shots? are those weaknesses going to ultimately stop him from being that 3rd laker player we expected him to be after lebron and AD? Let me know what you guys think.

Welcome to the daily Laker, a Los Angeles Lakers fan podcast, today is Saturday, March the 21st 2020. Every morning we bring you the latest news and highlights from the previous day. With a flashback of Kobe Bryant's legacy.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been sidelined for an indefinite amount of time due to the corona virus pandemic. 2 of the lakers players have also tested positive for the virus.

In other news

The Los Angeles Lakers gaming which is the esports team in the NBA2K league has also postponed its season-opening. It was supposed to begin on March 24th. The benefit of esports, however, is that games can still be played remotely. The league is going to have teams play preseason games from their respective markets remotely. There will also be an "NBA 2KL 3 for all showdown" which will feature a 3 on 3 tournaments where fans get the opportunity to compete against league players, the best 2k female players, and social media influencers. (https://2kleague.nba.com/news/nba-2kl-three-for-all-showdown/)

In my opinion

The Lakers were having one of the best seasons I have ever seen. Staying at the top of the western conference throughout the season and coming off big wins against the top team in the east the Milwaukee bucks and the second-best team in the west the Los Angeles Clippers. You could tell when they played that they were having fun and had built great chemistry with each other. Lebron James and Anthony Davis produced stats, highlights, wins and leadership as superstars are supposed to. The role players such as Kyle Kuzma, Caldwell Pope, Dwight Howard, and Alex Caruso were stepping up and doing their part when their name was called. It sure seemed like the Lakers were on their way to the playoffs and for an opportunity to play for a championship. Now the question is how will the league finish out this season, will they cancel it or bring it back later in the year once the virus has been contained? and it the season does start back up, does it start where it left off or in the playoffs? So many questions and so much uncertainty, but the good thing out of all of this is that we got to see a great Laker team in the first half of the season. Something we have not been able to say for years.

Your mamba mentality for the day.

In the 2007-2008 season the Lakers traded for Pau Gasol and it catapulted them into one of the best teams in the league. They reached the finals for the first time in four years and Bryant won his first and only NBA season MVP award averaging 28.3 points per game, 6.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists. 3/11/20 Welcome to the daily Laker, a Los Angeles Lakers fan podcast, today is Wednesday, March the 11th 2020. Every morning we bring you the latest news and highlights from the previous day. With a flashback of Kobe Bryant's legacy.

The Los Angeles Lakers cannot continue their winning streak as they lose to the Brooklin Nets The final score had the Lakers with 102 points and the Nets with 104 points LeBron James finished with 29 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists Anthony Davis finished with 26 points and 8 rebounds For the Nets, Spencer Dinwiddie led the way with 23 points Caris LeVert finished with 22 points The Lakers next game will be at home against the Houston Rockets tomorrow March the 12th at 7:30 pm

In other news

Coach Vogel reacts to each game differently and makes line up changes accordingly, it has worked so far. Most teams have their preferred line ups to end games but the Lakers seem to have a different team out on the floor almost every night. This does 2 things, one good and one bad,  first it keeps the opponents guessing so they can't prepare for match-ups and 2 it does not allow the Lakers to build great chemistry when finishing games. Are the Lakers making a mistake by doing this or do have they built trust in each other that anyone of the 3 through 10 players can step up and be a contributor at the end of games? Let us know what you think? (https://www.si.com/nba/2020/03/09/lakers-beat-clippers-bucks-with-versatility)

In my opinion

Dwight Howard was missed in this game as the Lakers allowed 14 offensive rebounds compared to their own 8 and also lost the points in the paint battle 42 to 36. Defensive rebounds and points in the paint are Howard's specialty and without him the Lakers relied more on their perimeter shots and no one stepped up to grab the missed shots from the Nets.

Your mamba mentality for the day.

From the 1999 - 2004 season, Kobe Bryant along with Shaquille O'Neal helped the Lakers win 3 championships and go to the NBA finals 4 times. This helped solidify the greatness of Kobe even at his young age of 26. (https://bleacherreport.com/articles/617324-kobe-bryant-was-his-nba-all-star-game-mvp-award-his-last-stand-as-a-star)

Patrick Beverly gave the Lakers credit for being the better team on Sunday but he still remained competitive when being interviewed. A reporter asked him about the challenges that Lebron James presents for defenses and he quickly interrupted him by saying "no challenge at all". When the reporter tried to re frame the question by asking what its like as a defender when Lebron is trying to force a switch, Beverly replied with "Not hard at all" (https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/28868370/patrick-beverley-credits-lakers-says-guarding-lebron-not-hard-all) At 35 years old, Lebron James still plays basketball at a level that's up to par with the reigning NBA season MVP Giannis and reigning Finals MVP Kawhaii. This weekend games against the Bucks and Clippers were a statement from Lebron and the Lakers to the rest of the league that they will not be satisfied with anything short of an NBA title this season. Lebron James has been controlling every piece of his basketball career since he came into the league right out of high school. With moves such as the decision when he chose to sign with the Miami Heat in 2010 or how he controlled the rosters of his previous teams. According to an article by ESPN LeBron approached this Lakers season differently. He has been supportive publicly of the Laker General Manager Rob Pelinka and head coach Frank Vogel with all of the decisions that they are making. He has adapted to the point guard role in the Lakers line up, a position that he never liked playing because of the toll it takes on him every game. The most important change has been the relationships that he has cultivated with the Lakers organiztion at all levels, from players, to coaches and administration. He has previously been known to keep his sircle small but not anymore. (https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/page/beatsow28825669/lebron-james-approached-los-angeles-lakers-season-differently)

Kobe Bryant made it to the NBA straight out of High school at 17 years old in 1996. In that rookie year, he participated in the slam dunk contest and took the trophy home. Something that was often forgotten due to his ability to score from anywhere on the floor, he came into the league known as a high flying dunker. Trying to drive to the basket every time he touched the ball. However, he quickly learned that that was a young mans game and if he wanted to have a long career he needed to work on his shot-making ability. and the rest is history. Rajon Rondo has continued to stay as one of the biggest stories this season because of his polarizing play. On some nights he reminds us of how his high IQ and playmaking abilities make him an important piece to the line up in order to win a championship. One of Kobe Bryant's many achievements on the basketball court came on January 22nd 2006 against the Toronto Raptors. He finished the game with 81 points on 28-of-46 shooting from the field, 7-of-13 from beyond the arc and 18-20 from the free-throw line. He always knew he could do something like this, quote “It’s really a testament to the power of imagination, honestly,” Kobe Bryant told ESPN.com, referring to his 81-point game. “There’s a lot of players who come up now who don’t think 80 points is possible. You think 50, and if you’re really hot — 60. I never had that limit. Ever. I never, ever thought that way. I always thought 80 was possible. I thought 90 was possible. I thought 100 was possible. Always. I think that game is a testament to what happens when you put no ceiling to what you’re capable of doing.” (https://clutchpoints.com/kobe-bryant-legendary-81-point-game-against-raptors/)

On the day of Kobe Bryant's memorial I want to remember one of his greatest speeches during the retirement of his numbers 2 and 24 at the staples center on December 2017 “Lastly our daughters, Natalia, Bianca and Gianna. You guys know that if you do the work, you work hard enough, dreams come true. You know that, we all know that. But hopefully what you get from tonight is that those times when you get up early and you work hard; those times when you stay up late and you work hard; those times when don’t feel like working — you’re too tired, you don’t want to push yourself — but you do it anyway. That is actually the dream. That’s the dream. It’s not the destination, it’s the journey. And if you guys can understand that, what you’ll see happen is that you won’t accomplish your dreams, your dreams won’t come true, something greater will. (Points to the rafters). And if you guys can understand that, then I’m doing my job as a father.” -Kobe Bryant

“By all means feel sorry for yourself. By all means make excuses. By all means feel discouraged. By all means don’t play like this game is the most important thing to you. By all means entertain yourself with other sh*t because the game of baseball will be here forever and you will have infinite opportunities to play this game. One of the worst injuries that an athlete can have is a torn Achilles and unfortunately Kobe had to endure this during the 2012-2013 season. What was most memorable about this experience was the fact that Kobe still shot his 2 free throws and walked off the court on his own even though his Achilles was torn, it was not attached to his heel bone. February 4 2020 //The NBA will honor Kobe and Giana Bryant during the all star game by having all players from one team wear kobe's number 24 and the other Giana's number 2. Lebron chose to wear number 2, with a one word explanation as to why he picked it, "zhuri" referring to his 5 year old daughter. (source: https://www.latimes.com/sports/lakers/story/2020-02-03/lebron-james-wearing-gianna-bryant-number-nba-all-star-game-daughter) // espn reported that the friday night laker game agains the portland trailblazers was the second most watched nba game in espn history, only behind the first time that kobe and shaq faced yao ming and the rockers on january 2003 (https://ktla.com/2020/02/03/kobe-bryant-tribute-game-is-2nd-most-watched-nba-game-in-espn-history/) // The lakers will play tonight against the spurs at 7pm in the staples center. // The lakers are still number 1 in the west with 37wins and 11 losses while the spurs are 10th in the west and half a game behind the trail blazers for 9th place in the western conference. // #mambamentality // Kobe came in to the league as a hungry 17 year old who wanted to become the best basketball player on the court. In his polarizing pursuit to achieve this goal he didn't tolerate anyone who would not take the game and work ethic as serious as he did. As he got older he transitioned his personality and took on a big brother role to pass down knowledge and mentor younger athletes such as Lebron James and Kyrie Irving. The mamba mentality will live on through all of his fans.
