Dawn Neptune Adams joins us to discuss modern colonizer activities against native populations.

Dawn Neptune Adams is a member of the Penobscot Nation and a Filmmaker and Journalist with Sunlight Media Collective. Her grassroots environmental activism began with the protection of Indigenous Sacred sites in Huntington Beach, CA in 1998. Since then, she has been a tireless advocate for environmental justice and Indigenous rights at the tribal, local, state, and national levels. Dawn is actively involved in politics for change across a wide spectrum of influences. She is a Racial Justice Consultant to the Peace & Justice Center of Eastern Maine; an active member of Racial Equity & Justice of Bangor, Maine, and; a former Indigenous Peoples' Policy Advisor for the Hunter/Elias 2020 Presidential campaign. Dawn has served as the Wabanaki Liaison to the Maine Independent Green Party since 2016 and was the Vice Presidential Candidate to the Dario Hunter 2020 Presidential campaign. When not battling polluters, plutocrats, and patriarchy, Dawn spends her time raising a pre-teen and building fine furniture. She dreams of a day when we can all eat Salmon from the Penobscot River and live together in peace.

Advocates for expansion of passenger train service in Maine believe this is their time. The potential of the railroads owned by the taxpayers of the State of Maine hold the promise of an advanced passenger train system that will deal with Climate Change, boost economic equity and move Maine into a more prosperous and sustainable future. There is a good reason the Legislature is addressing so many good rail bills this year. Preparing for expansion of passenger trains, every legislature since the 1980s has taken steps to accomplish the goal. This year the 130th Maine State Legislature can take this over the top. There is a detailed service plan with recommendations for passenger train service to Lewiston. LD 991 An Act…., will complete that plan and evaluate the economic impacts in jobs and housing in the communities selected for train stations. (since they did not etc.)The Amtrak Downeaster passenger operating along the coast to Brunswick is where the state owns 55 of 100 miles to Augusta, Waterville, and Bangor. LD 227 Will provide state and local decision-makers with information on this valuable transportation corridor and the likelihood it too can be restored for passenger trains. State ownership of railroads in the west, 55 miles Portland to Nh, in the East with the 40 miles from Bangor to Acadia and 88 miles into Eastport are included in other important rail bills. The opportunity to match federal funding has never been closer. There is no time to waste. Neither Washington nor the Climate are going to wait. Maine has done its homework, it owns the railroads. Maine knows how to run a successful passenger train service. It is time for rail in Maine.

Dr. Robert Gutsche currently working on a new book, Trumpled: Trump's Fight with the Press, and the Rise of Media Control. The book extends his previous work in which he focuses on how journalism serves the greater power structure, rather than the greater good. It argues that Trump's tension with the press serves to distract from the deeper, ideological issues within the press and how they contribute to social control.

This has been a long time coming. For decades we have seen unarmed African Americans murdered in the streets by police using excessive force. When does it end? What did we think was going to happen? Over night, violent protests erupted in major cities all over the United States demanding justice be served for the murder of George Floyd. Mass unemployment, racial tensions, and a general lack of faith in the legal system have boiled over and the result has been nothing short of anarchy.

On May 26th the President tweeted, "There is NO WAY (ZERO!) that Mail-In Ballots will be anything less than substantially fraudulent. Mail boxes will be robbed, ballots will be forged & even illegally printed out & fraudulently signed. The Governor of California is sending Ballots to millions of people, anyone....." Now any other day this would have been dismissed as just your typical Trump tweet, but this time was a little different. Twitter has now begun to fact check the President's tweets with a disclaimer demonstrating the falsehood of his claims and Trump is furious. As a result, the president has threatened retaliation against Twitter. Later in the episode we discuss whether Elon Musk is more Iron Man or James Bond villain, you won't want to miss it.
