Planning a safe exit from a narcissistic or abusive relationship isn’t a single leap—it’s a step‑by‑step operation. We’re joined by Diana Jordan, former family law solicitor and author of How to Divorce a Narcissist and Succeed in the Family Court, to unpack what narcissism really looks like in separation and why time rarely calms a true narcissist. We draw a clear line between difficult divorce behaviour and entrenched narcissistic patterns, then map out a practical route to safety that protects your children, your finances, and your sanity.

Diana Jordan

I work with litigants in person many of whom are leaving an abusive relationship. I support parents whose former partners are narcissists and are using the courts to continue their abuse. I deal with cases labelled as "high conflict" which more often than not simply means no-one knows which is the abusive parent and it's easier to blame both of them for the problems. I help parents in cases of parental alienation as well as some who have false allegations of parental alienation made against them by the abusive parent.

With over 25 years experience in the legal profession I am able to give guidance and information throughout the process of separation and divorce. Some clients wish to do as much as they can of the legal work themselves and I assist them with form-filling and letter writing, referring them to the best mediators, financial advisors, solicitors, and direct access barristers as and when appropriate.

I enjoy finding creative solutions to the different challenges faced by families in transition. Although I work with parents, securing the best outcomes for their children is my primary focus. My skills as a life coach assist clients to gain clarity in their situation and to move forward in a planned and constructive way. I use my knowledge of personal and spiritual development to empower clients to own the process and make their own decisions; I encourage clients to be and do their very best during a hugely difficult time of change.

Unlock the secrets to empowering survivors of domestic abuse as we chat with our guest Sam Fisher, the inspiring CEO of Trafford Domestic Abuse Service (TDAS). Through her personal experiences, we shed light on how TDAS supports not only Trafford residents but also those connected through work or schooling, offering crucial services under the Domestic Abuse Act.

Samantha Fisher, CEO, Trafford Domestic Abuse Service

Samantha is currently the CEO of Trafford Domestic Abuse Services (TDAS) and has dedicated her career to the voluntary sector since 2007. She holds a degree in Psychology and initially aimed to pursue a career in college teaching. However, volunteer experiences during her studies quickly revealed a strong passion for direct support work, guiding Sam’s career in a new and fulfilling direction.

A deep commitment to service-user involvement has been central to Sam’s approach, rooted in her time as a Client Inclusion Champion while serving as a Project Worker supporting homeless women facing multiple challenges. This role highlighted the importance of centring service-user voices, a principle that continues to shape her work today.

In 2010, Sam joined Team TDAS as a Refuge Support Worker and immediately knew she had found a professional home. Now leading the organisation, she feels privileged to work alongside a dedicated team, providing person-centred, empowering support to families seeking freedom from domestic abuse.

Please find below a link to the TDAS website resource page to learn more about our organisation, what we do and the services we provide.

Unlock the secrets to navigating the often complex and challenging terrain of divorce with insights from our esteemed guest, Ceri Griffiths, a divorce financial planner. Discover how power imbalances, especially when one partner possesses greater financial knowledge or negotiation skills, can create significant disadvantages during divorce. Ceri provides invaluable tips on recognizing these imbalances and offers strategies to equip both parties with the tools needed to make informed decisions. Our discussion underscores the urgent need for legal systems to evolve and address economic abuse and coercive control, with a sneak peek into an upcoming report by Resolution.

Ceri Griffiths

What I Stand For
It's my intention to help divorcing women know how to use their financial settlement to create financial well-being and a more rewarding life. I am passionate about this because I believe that financial services has historically been male focused and has marginalised so many women by focusing on growth and products. This means they often feel vulnerable and unprepared at a time when they have to make some of the biggest financial decisions of their lives. I feel it is vital that we level the playing field for women and ensure they have as equal access to expertise as their ex, and that financial services speaks to them in a way that is equally inspiring and motivational. I am on a mission to empower women to become financial capable and to realise that money self-care is the ultimate self-care. They can make their money work for them and achieve peace of mind and a financial plan for a post-divorce life they will love.

In this episode, we are talking property. We are joined by experts in valuing, mortgaging and finding property. If you are not sure whether to try to stay in your family home or make a new start elsewhere, this conversation should help. Our guests are Daniel Bell, Seb Nicolleau and Graham Bowcock.

Sebastien Nicolleau

Sebastien graduated with a Master’s degree in Business Management from the University of Bath in 2001. He then spent 13 years working for Nasdaq and CAC 40 corporations, reaching international director roles.

In parallel, Sebastien has been actively involved in property investment since 2005. During which he has developed an extensive knowledge base and expertise of the UK, French, Monegasque, Spanish and Portuguese property markets.

Through first-hand experience he realised how archaic and unfit for purpose the current real estate system was for buyers in Europe compared to other parts of the world. Take the US, Canada, Asia or Australia for instance. Buyers there, will be fully represented by an independent buying agent or realtor working solely for them. In Europe, most buyers are on their own and fully exposed, having to deal with selling agents who are mandated by and work for the other party, the seller.

That led him to found Galleon Property Search in 2014 with one objective; to change the current buyer/seller power dynamic in Europe and make sure that buyers are professionally advised and fully represented. He is a buyer, think and act like one. It is his crusade and he is known to be very passionate about it across borders.

When not immersed in the international property markets, Sebastien loves to travel, with South America and Asia amongst his favourite destinations. He is a keen climber and slowly makes progress with his kite surfing skills.

Galleon International Property Search

Daniel Bell and his growing team are highly respected, award-winning mortgage advisers working from offices in both Manchester and Liverpool city centres. They are able to provide every aspect of your property needs from first-time buyer mortgages through to multi-million pound commercial deals, as well as sourcing the right policies you need to protect your investment.

Integrity, Client Care and Tailored Relationships are are the pillars of Bell Financial Solutions and Daniel has come from a strong background in Financial Services, with industry leading knowledge backed up by strong qualifications, credentials and a commitment to regular ongoing training. When not crunching numbers n a calculator, Daniel loves playing with George the Dog and long walks with both him and his partner Sam.

Tamsin speaks to financial protection specialist, Kathryn Knowles. They discuss the financial protection options, how and why to review your protection post divorce and how to financially protect you and your family.

I'm a founder of Cura Financial Services an insurance broker, and Advice for Advisers: training advisers in protection insurance.

I have worked in the insurance industry since 2010 and have had a real mixture of roles. I have been involved in compliance, administration, advising, training, marketing, website design and possibly more that I’m forgetting to mention.

I set up an insurance brokerage with my husband in 2012. To me, to be able to grow and develop a strong company, I felt that I must understand all roles inside and out. Since then Cura Financial Services has gone from strength to strength, leading us to win multiple national awards.

I am known and have been commissioned by insurers to share my approach to providing protection advice. Often referred to as ‘humanising’ the insurance world. I have been involved with outreach campaigns for Scottish Widows, British Friendly and The Exeter.

I have also been involved in consultations with the Chartered Insurance Institute, Association of British Insurers, British Insurers Brokers Association and the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

In this episode, Tamsin speaks to Emma Nash from the Family Law Language Project. From their website, “the language of law needs to be understood by those who need to engage with it. This is so important when it comes to family law as the implications of misuse of language can translate into genuine suffering for children and families. We also need to re-think how we practically apply family law. We need to move away from language that promotes conflict and leads to Court proceedings, towards a language that puts the welfare of children first.

The Family Law Language Project has a simple mission: to help make family law easier to understand, less hostile and more accessible for everyone. We intend to do this by improving the understanding and use of language.

Emma Nash is a solicitor and Head of the Family Department at City law firm Fletcher Day. In addition to her family law practice, Emma writes and speaks extensively on family law issues. Emma is also the founder of The Family Law Language Project, an initiative that launched in November 2021 with the aim of making family law more accessible and reducing conflict by improving the understanding and use of language.

Tamsin speaks to family mediator Sarah Manning about hybrid meditation and how it can be used for couples, including those who have suffered abuse and domestic violence.

I am a Senior Associate Solicitor and accredited family mediator and highly experienced having previously worked in family law for over 10 years. I advise and assist individuals in all aspects of private family law matters. I am also a Director of Family Mediators Association, a member organisation for mediators in a voluntary capacity and I have an input into the future of mediation. I am also the chair of the Family Mediation Week committee raising awareness of family mediation. I was also short listed for ‘Mediator of the Year 2020’ in the National Mediation Awards. I am a member of Resolution which is an organisation setup for professionals who believe in a constructive, non-confrontational approach to family law matters. I pride myself on the service I deliver and ensure that I have a good rapport with my clients whilst remaining focused on achieving the best possible outcome. I pride myself on dealing with matters amicably whilst ensuring that my client’s needs or any children involved are at the forefront of any discussions and arrangements reached. In some instances, court is of course necessary and I will do everything I can to keep matters constructive and non-confrontational whilst achieving the best possible result for my client. As a mediator, I am also qualified as a hybrid mediator which follows more of the civil mediation model and allows other professionals to be involved within the process. This is more suitable to high conflict, complex and high net worth cases. I also recently qualified as a Child Inclusive Mediator which allows me to speak to children within the mediation and allow them to have a voice. I offer a free initial consultation to all new clients as I believe it is important that both the legal advisor and the client should have a good rapport with one another, and the client is both relaxed and has confidence in the advice provided before they proceed. Meetings can take place either face to face, over the phone, by email or through Microsoft Teams/Zoom.

The government have recently announced a voucher scheme for couples who want to use mediation to resolve their family disputes. Tamsin speaks to mediator Maura McKibbin about how to make the most of your mediation sessions.

Maura is a specialist family mediator who dedicates her practice to keeping families out of court and who routinely integrates emotional and financial support into her mediation work. Maura’s legal training means that she has an appreciation of the legal issues that are relevant for separating couples to bear in mind as they carefully contemplate their financial separation alongside their legal advice. A principal motivation in Maura’s work is to ensure that children have the best chance of good outcomes. She supports their parents to make parenting plans for family life beyond separation. Maura is trained to meet with children who wish to have a voice and she also runs local Parenting Apart Information Meetings which provide neutral, early information and guidance to help parents to parent together beyond their separation.
