Pastor Farmer starts a new 3 week series called calling and purpose with the goal of exploring why we were created and how we are to live our lives. This week's sermon teaches from Genesis 4: 1-7 with supplemental versus from Genesis chapters 1 and 2. We explore our original purpose in the garden of Eden to be fruitful, multiply, and be in fellowship with God. We explore the results of sin entering into the equation but how God still calls us to worship him in spirit and truth and gives guidance on the proper way to have relationship with him.
Pastor Farmer teaches from Luke 11:37-54 as Jesus pronounces woes to the Pharisees and the Scribes for teaching the law but not actually living the law out themselves and not lifting a hand to help their neighbors fulfill the law.
Pastor Michael Farmer teaches from the gospel of Luke and expounds upon Jonah's mission to Nineveh and how the greatest miracle was not the journey but rather the changed heart from those Jonah preached. In the 2nd Sermon of our Gods plan series, we ask the question, ask what is Christmas, why we celebrate it, and how we celebrate it as a holiday, by teaching from Luke Chapter 2, The Birth of Jesus Christ.
It is important to remember Christmas did not originate as a Christian celebration, but we now celebrate it from a Christian perspective to honor of Jesus Christ Birth and remember the incarnate birth.
3 points to how we should celebrate Christmas.
- Celebrate by worshiping Jesus. Luke 2:13-14
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
- Let people know about Jesus' birth and his coming. Luke 2:16-18
16 And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. 17 And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. 18 And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. 3. Celebrate by giving sacrificially and consecrating your blessings to be used for the Lord's purposes. Luke 2:22-24 22 And when the time came for their purification according to the Law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord 23 (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every male who first opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord”)
24 and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the Law of the Lord, “a pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.”

God has given us His power and authority to heal and share the Gospel - the story of Jesus! We can’t stay comfortable, even in a time of pandemic. God is still calling us to share His message of hope with our neighbors, family, friends, fellow students, teammates, strangers

We navigate how followers of Christ live their new lives and resist the old way of living in a culture that may not follow Christ. We are to love under the standard of Christ guidance and protection and shining our light in places of pervasive darkness. Our light then can be used to guide people to Christ.
Practical biblical teaching can invoke thoughts of living as a "Good Christian." Paul teaches how our life and behavior can be edifying to the body of Christ, as we Follow Jesus.
If you are taught correct biblical doctrine to mature you in the word and in your personal relationship w/Christ.
