In episode six we chat with Shelley Youngblut, CEO of Wordfest in Calgary and avid reader, publisher and champion of literacy and the arts. Shelley discusses the books that were meaningful to her at different points in her life, as well as how they impacted her career as a publisher and now CEO.
In episode five Jill connects with Mark Sakamoto, a lawyer by training, who has enjoyed a rich and varied career. He began his professional career in live music, working with several international acts. His 2014 book Forgiveness, recently won the CBC Canada Reads 2018 competition. Forgiveness intertwines the compelling stories of Mark's grandparents, Ralph MacLean and the Sakamotos as the war rips their lives and their humanity out of their grasp. But somehow, despite facing such enormous transgressions against them, the two families learned to forgive.
In episode three we catch up with Dave Kelly, a host, interviewer, writer, and entrepreneur. He is currently the host of Dave Kelly Live, as well as the Calgary Stampede Rodeo, and he travels around the world as an event host.
In episode four we connected with Calgary's Chief of Police, Roger Chaffin. Chief Chaffin has been a police officer with the City of Calgary since 1986, assuming the top position on the force in 2015.
