Gentleness is not needing to force our way in life. It is not being overly impressed by a sense of our own self-importance. Gentleness champions the importance and place of others and seeks the interest and well-being of others ahead of our own. Gentleness is a willingness to lose so that others might gain.
Unfortunately, we often think that gentleness is either a natural disposition we are born with or manners that we can cultivate on our own. But true gentleness is the fruit of the Spirit. It is born out of the new life God is working in us. We need to remember our new freedom, bond and engage with our new family and lean into the new forte´(strength) the gentleness of Jesus gives us by his indwelling Spirit.
Easter Bonus! The end of the sermon includes Jeff Heck and other Westside musicians singing "Your Labor Is Not in Vain"
