Todd Gray is an artist in every sense of the word. Todd is an internationally renowned photographer, artist and author. He was Michael Jackson's official photographer for over 10 years beginning in the late 70's throughout the 80's. He shot The Jacksons on American Bandstand and Soul Train back to back. He was with him documenting his life for Off The Wall, Thriller, Moonwalking, The Victory Tour, We Are The World and Michael Jackson hand picked him to be the guy who captured the highest times of his life and career. Todd captured the iconic image of Michael on point in those shining sparkling shoes. By the time Todd was 17 he had photographed an album cover, travelled with The Rolling Stones and had his photographs published in LIFE Magazine
I occasionally meet "those" kind of people, artists, whose art crosses all boundaries of space and time which brings me to Todd's exhibit currently on display at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts (now until January 2, 2022) TODD GRAY: Crossing The Waters of Space, Time and History. Three of his new works will make their debut at the KIA. Todd melds images together that juxtapose his art will make you step back and think, re-think, examine and explore the possibilities. In general the art will challenge you both by what he is including and also by what he is leaving out.

Graci Kim's post on Twitter sums it all up. "Last but not least - to all the diaspora kids, adoptees, misfits. To anyone who’s ever felt invisible, or like they didn’t belong.
I SEE YOU
Real magic lives inside all of us - in the choices we make every single day. This book is for you!"
Best selling author Rick Riordan has given Graci Kim a stamp of approval for her book The Last Fallen Star.
Graci was a sweet little Korean girl who never saw characters in books that looked like her when she was growing up. Her life was filled with lots of different experiences but she grew up believing that kids like her couldn’t be the heroes of our stories. Today her Korean witches book comes out & she will tell you she was wrong. Your voices matter. Your stories matter. YOU matter. And sometimes, your wildest dreams can come true. Riley Oh will take you on her adventure of self discovery and acceptance. #TheLastFallenStar

Growing up in Detroit, Motown music was such a big part of my life. It was all over the radio, my record box was filled with the 45's and albums. A year and a half ago I interviewed the legendary Mary Wilson founding member of The Supremes. She was dancing on the TV show Dancing With The Stars. She looked so good!
But last night unexpectedly she passed away at her home in Henderson, Nevada at the age of 76.
She is survived by her daughter, son, many grandchildren, a sister and brother.
A celebration of her life will take place later this year. She was a trailblazer and broke down social, racial, and gender barriers.
R.I.P Mary thankfully the music lives on
Today my conversation is with award winning author Michael Walsh, who also is a classical music aficionado. I wanted to talk with him about his latest book Last Stands: Why Men Fight When All Is Lost. What is about some men who give it their all up until the very end.
I was curious if Michael thought we were in a last stand now with Donald Trump as Joe Biden readies himself to take over the presidency.
Award-winning author Michael Walsh celebrates the masculine attributes of heroism that forged American civilization and Western culture by exploring historical battles in which soldiers chose death over dishonor in Last Stands: Why Men Fight When All Is Lost.

I interviewed Suzanne Somers today she has a new book out called Two's Company: A Fifty Year Romance With Lessons Learned In Love, Life and Business. I adore her this is the second time we've talked and I always learn a valuable nugget of wisdom. In other news Elton John lost his mother yesterday after they finally reconciled and made peace. I talked to Suzanne about that same thing today and what were the feelings she had when she reconciled with John Ritter one month before he passed and the reconciliation with Joyce DeWitt her Three's Company co-star...David Cassidy's last words pretty much sum it up "So much wasted time"
Suzanne is such a wonderful and wise woman who has lived and continues to live a full life...the read is inspirational and would make the perfect stocking stuffer for that special person who needs to know that "It's not the problems in your life that define you it's how you respond to those things that define you"-Suzanne Somers

I was so looking forward to doing this interview. I've wanted to interview Jeff Daniels a number of times over the years but never had the opportunity until today. To be honest with you I'm glad that it has taken this long. This is the Jeff Daniels I would have wanted to talk to not so much the Dumb and Dumber Jeff Daniels. I don't know if they're the same guy but he has to have evolved over the years right? Dumb and Dumber, The Purple Rose of Cairo, or Terms of Endearment those were some pretty big movis for a guy who pretty much does it his way. He appears to be in a really good space and place of peace and contentment right where's he's at in life. Isn't that the goal? It doesn't hurt that he still lives in Chelsea, Michigan his childhood neighborhood, shovels snow in Michigan winters and still appreciates the change of color during an autumn day. Michigan can keep you grounded...hard work never hurt anyone. Jeff talks his music, film, his plays and his sons' music the Ben Daniels Band. Jeff Daniels and his son will be playing at Miller Auditorium November 3rd, 2017.
Ken Burns being Ken Burns tells The Vietnam Story like no one before him. His mind, his perspective, his attention to detail, the way he frames a story I feel like he has no equal telling it...a story that is 50 plus years old but we are still learning from it.
This series took a decade to complete...Ken worked side by side with documentarian/film maker Lynn Novick for the past 10 years researching, compiling, interviewing, documenting everything they needed to have to be able to tell the unique and fresh story that they wanted to tell. The Vietnam War docu-movie debuting on PBS television September 17th, 2017.
The vast amount of interviews, raw footage, speaking to the Vietnamese first hand about their side of the story, Generals, Vietnam vets telling the story they lived during that time period in history it's all there. In addition to the compelling soundtrack by Trent Reznor and Attcus Ross there's the period piece music... Bob Dylan, Hendrix, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Marvin Gaye.
If you want to take a look at The Vietnam War realistically vs. the Hollywood versions you've watched in the past this is REAL "Reality" TV.

As of late we've heard of distracted driving causing so many unnecessary accidents on the road. Whether it's texting, playing with the GPS, talking on the phone you need to be focused when you're behind the wheel of a car. The one thing that doesn't make it on the news is drowsy driving and it happens much more than any of us think...it's difficult to measure because unlike a breathalyzer that measures alcohol content, or your phone that will show law enforcement that you were texting at the time of an accident there is no measurement for drowsy driving.
Anson Williams talked to me a little bit today about drowsey driving, his new passion, because it happened to him and it could have cost him his life.

Ben is what most people would describe as a "Super Fan" who also happens to be a best selling author. He has been a fan of Prince for decades and tomorrow April 21st, 2017 marks the one year anniversary of Prince's death.
I remember playing Prince on the radio back at WDRQ in Detroit beginning in the late 1970's all the way through the 80's and 90's. To me Prince was a complex man with lots of opposing thoughts and views, he did things his way and fought to keep the music a clear reflection of who he was and what he wanted his art form to represent. He was always pushing boundaries...always. What I enjoyed most about Ben's book is that it is not filled with salacious gossip and rumors about Prince but it is more of an unbiased investigative look at an artist that forever changed the landscape of music.
Die-hard fans of Prince will enjoy the psychology, the behind the scenes look and the tasty nuggets about certain songs and how they came to be...as well as the Purple Rain movie and the importance of getting it made right. I especially enjoyed the references to Morris Day and The Time, Sheila E., Apollonia and Vanity 6.
"Dig If You Will The Picture" is written in such a way that the casual fan is able to enjoy it just as much as the die-hard. The book title "Dig If You Will The Picture" is a lyric pulled from the song When Doves Cry..."Dig if you will the picture of you and I engaged in a kiss" (I misspoke in the interview and said "you and I embraced in a kiss"). Oh well, possibly he was embraced as he engaged...be sure to pick up this book in your local book store and online at:

Writer Sailor Soldier Spy...Yes Ernest Hemingway was all of those things and more. Nick Reynolds carefully paints the picture of a Hemingway that most of us probably never knew existed.
Writer Sailor Soldier Spy: The Adventures Of Ernest Hemingway is a very fun read about a man with many interests, many gifts and talents, a man who lived a very full life until the age of 61 when he committed suicide as his father had done years earlier. Almost exactly 35 years after Ernest Hemingway's death, on July 1, 1996, his granddaughter Margaux Hemingway died in Santa Monica, California. Margaux was a supermodel and an actress, who co-starred with her younger sister Mariel in the movie Lipstick. Her death too was later ruled a suicide, making her "the fifth person in four generations of her family to commit suicide.

I've had the pleasure of having some conversations with some pretty amazing people both famous and not. Today's conversation with Peter Engel ranks right up there in my Top 3. Peter was the Executive Producer for the wildly popular tv show Saved By The Bell (it was a little after my time). But I know all about it...Bayside High, Zack, Kelly, Screetch and Mr. Belding. It was an innovative TV show that covered a lot of different topics that hadn't been touched on tv before and for that Peter is very proud.
He's written a new book entitled I Was Saved By The Bell: Stories Of Life, Love and Dreams That Do Come True. His memoir covers so much more than Saved By The Bell the television program...it's a wonderful story about Peter's life, people he has met, situations he has experienced as well as resilience, conviction, determination, life, love and believing in yourself and your dreams.
I so enjoy sitting down with a great book of stories that somehow teach lessons about life. This is one of those books~

What a joy it was to interview The Amazing Kreskin! I remember watching The Amazing Kreskin when I was a little girl. I remember trying to figure out how this guy was doing what he was doing? It appeared to me that he was reading a person's mind...was he psychic? No, Kreskin is quick to point out that he is not a psychic because he cannot see into the future but that he is an entertainer who can read other people's thoughts...in real time.
He was inspired at the age of 9 by Lee Falk's famous comic strip Mandrake the Magician, which featured a crime-fighting stage magician and he decided that that was who he was going to become.
Kreskin still has that showman's flair, a comedian's wit and yes he is also a thought reader.
Throughout his lifetime he has made numerous appearances on Johnny Carson, Regis Philbin, David Letterman and most recently Jimmy Fallon, Neil Cavuto and Howard Stern.
In 2014 Kreskin mentally trained three up and coming boxers to victory. Kreskin also teaches classes for law enforcement groups, which "focuses on psychological methods such as jogging lost memories through relaxation techniques or detecting lies through body language and voice inflections."
In March 2016 Kreskin released his 20th book entitled, “In Real Time” featuring his major predictions for the next several hundred years.
At 81 years of age, Kreskin shows no signs of slowing down. He continues to perform his legendary live shows in front of packed audiences around the world, playing over 200+ dates yearly.

James Duane is the creator of the viral lecture Don't Talk To The Police and the author of the book You Have The Right To Remain Innocent.
Everyone should read this if even to make you think. In a discussion with friends and someone will always say "That wouldn't ever happen to me he/she must have been doing something wrong". But it can happen to you, innocent people do go to prison, innocent people are shot and killed and innocent people willingly talk to the police everyday but should you?
James Dauane explores the judicial system as well as law enforcement and case histories of innocent men and women exonerated after decades in prison because of information they voluntarily gave to police.

I would describe The Final Service as an inspirational book. Don't get me wrong because there will be places where you may think, "What was Kim thinking when she said inspirational?" Just keep reading. It's a book about fathers and daughters, husbands and wives, friends and strangers. It's a book about relationships and how they are ever changing and evolving over a lifetime. This is a book about PTSD Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and it's effects when it is both diagnosed and not diagnosed. The end results can be the same.
This book is scheduled to be made into a major motion picture production and I for one can't wait to see it hit the big screen.
The Final Service is a story about a father who is a WWII veteran and a daughter that is experiencing a strained relationship, a broken relationship with him. After he dies and with the help of a "stranger" she finally comes to terms with exactly who her dad was and who he was not.
This book is for PTSD survivors, military men and women who have all had experience with friends and fellow military dealing with PTSD, and for the sons and daughters, husbands and wives who suspect something might be going on with their loved one and they are looking for answers then this is for you! Statistics from U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs show 1 in 3 veterans have PTSD.

There are just so many nuggets in Rita Coolidge's book Delta Lady:A Memoir. Nuggets of wisdom, learning enlightenment, compassion, caring and biggest of all resiliance.
I have always been a Rita Coolidge fan ever since first hearing Higher and Higher and playing that on the first Christian radio station I worked at.
I loved her long dark hair, Cherokee heritage, her Boho style and the turquoise...loved seeing her wear all of her turquoise.
Rita has been making music for a lifetime and she has worked with some of the greats like Jimi Hendrix, Joe Cocker, Leon Russell and so many others there just isn't the time to list them all here but she covers so much of it in the book.
She was married to Kris Kristofferson who I fell in love with after seeing A Star Is Born. She talks about their relationship and making beautiful music together, the ups and downs of it all.
The biggest bombshell for me was learning about the Eric Clapton song Layla and what Rita contributed to it (uncredited). It's very clear her work was stolen and someone else's name was added to the credits on the album. When I played the interview on the air I received calls from listeners telling me that that part of the Layla song, the part that Rita wrote, was their favorite part.
One of my favorite parts of the book was Rita perfectly describing aging "As you get older you gather layers and layers of life and you learn to wear them and carry them proudly or you let them take you down. And I choose to wear mine."
It was such an honor talking with Rita Coolidge who for me is an artist in every sense of the word.

This book is flat out, flat out! The tease goes like this... His dying father is in a hospital room hooked up to breathing apparatus making it difficult to communicate. He motioned the author Mike to come a little closer. He told Mike he was glad he was there and went on to tell his son, "YOU are a complete disappointment!"
And he was just getting started....
This is a really raw, painful, intimate and ultimately joyful look at a very complex father/son relationship. But I think it could just as easily be a mother/son, daughter/father or mother/daughter relationship. It crosses all boundaries. I find it difficult to believe that this is as isolated as one might think. I believe people don't talk about it or are embarrassed to talk about it. How does one begin to process such a thought? A parent who is competitive and jealous of their own offspring.
This is a must read for many reasons...it's entertaining and actually has some very funny moments, there are moments that made me uncomfortable but there is learning and growing and revelation too. This is one of those books that was a page turner and very easy to read.

Oh how I love this book! The style in which it is written, the organization, the cross referencing, the information love it, love it, love it.
Maria Noel Groves is a registered herbalist and can talk about what people did long before prescription companies started taking out trademarks and such. She talks about why one is better for a condition than say another herb. Although there are still some people who think of this sort of thing as voodoo it is not. She covers, Immune System, Cardiovascular, Digestive, Respiratory. There are availability ratings, descriptions of key properties, additional benefits of an herb or essential oil, best way to preparation methods and more.
She answers the question "Why herbal or natural medicine?" She big on education and this book I will keep forever. So much to digest, no pun intended, and learn~

I'm not a big history buff and I feel like I need to get that right out there. But this book was so intriguing to me. It was an easy read and it made me appreciate that time in history a bit more. I agree with Stephanie...this book is really for everyone, President Jefferson fans, lovers of politics, women looking for stories about strong, impactful, positive women in history, maybe romance isn't the word but there's some unbreakable loyalty and devotion and probably love too. I can highly recommend this book.
I had the opportunity to have a conversation with Charlie Daniels from the Charlie Daniels Band. They'll be playing Firekeepers Casino Friday April 8th. He will be 80 years old October 28th and like the cat who has had nine lives he just keeps on keepin on!
Charlie is probably best known for his song The Devil Went Down To Georgia but he also wrote the song It Hurts Me, a song that Elvis Presley recorded.
Charlie was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry and the Musicians Hall of Fame. He's played with Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Marshall Tucker Band, Hank Williams, Little Richard and Bootsie Collins along with Classic Rock artists of the era.
He plays fiddle like NOBODY! And has lots of stories to share about life, learning and the art of playing good music.

First off this book will cause you to think whether you read it as a self proclaimed Christian or otherwise. Loved the format as well. Contributions to the book include Marilynne Robinson (American novelist and essayist), Sarah Young (Jesus Calling), Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith LeCrae, Jamie Grace, Chris Tomlin (Singers), Barbara Brown Taylor (American Episcopal Priest), and Grand Rapids own Rob Bell.
The book What Did Jesus Ask? invites you to reflect on his questions of faith.

New York Times Best Selling Sports Writer And Author John Feinstein talked to me a little it about his just released book The Sixth Man.
This is Book 2 in a series John is writing for young adult readers. There's entertainment first and foremost but there are also nuggets of wisdom that might cause the reader to ponder, question and see things in a fresh light.
I really enjoyed talking to John about this new book. In the second installment it's basketball season, there are promises to turn the Lions losing streak around and lead the team to a conference title. But, word gets out that Max Belotti is gay. Will the team come together and get their shot at the title?
John shows that the world is a diverse place, children will meet many people who are not like them. As I told John I'd love to see this series turn into another Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew.

I had heard about Criss Angel, I had friends who have watched him perform live and all have said it was a mind blowing experience. You will question reality, you will wonder exactly what makes this guy tick, and you will walk out of the studio shaking your head trying to figure out exactly how he did that. He was an interesting guy to talk to, he gives back (and that's something he doesn't like to talk about), and he has been compared to Houdini. Meet Criss Angel, the guy behind the illusions~

What a fun conversation I had with Comedian, Author, Game Show Host Jeff Foxworthy. He will be appearing at Firekeepers Casino Friday night, August 28th, 2015.

When I called the agent to book this she said "I thought I'd be hearing from you or I thought you'd like this one." I really did enjoy this book very much. I think it's a good way to live, or at least try for 30 days. Commit to just 30 days. I dare you to really keep to it!
I'm a pretty grateful person. Probably became more so after the colon cancer in 2009. It didn't have anything to do with the outcome. It has more to do with remembering to be grateful on a daily basis. It beats the alternative~

Today's Conversation With Kim is with New York Times Best Selling Author and Chef Dan Barber. His book "The Third Plate" Field Notes On The Future Of Food intrigued me. When it comes to our food, how to grow it, where it actually comes from, why we should eat real food, Dan has done some pretty comprehensive research. Plus he gets extra points for talking to me a little bit about GMO's. Whenever I get someone on the air and ask them about GMO's no one wants to talk about them? Dan takes you on a journey through soil, land, sea and seed. This is a great read, and if you're like me you will find yourself re-reading a few things to really get some clarity.

Subhash is the author of a series of children's book. He has chosen to sit down and write children's books to have my influence over his son Arya. It's much easier to teach a child in the way that you want him to go when you have control of the content he or she is taking in. Subhash's wife Sujata illustrates the series of books in a most delightful way. The characters come alive and there are so many lessons to be learned about love, bullying, embracing others who may not be like you and friendships. Friendships that are deep and lasting.
I loved this book because it teaches a child very important lessons about life and experiences.

There are probably a couple things you shouldn't talk to me about unless you have 15 or 20 minutes to spare. One of them is cats.
So when I had an opportunity to have a conversation with one of the authors of the new National Geographic book "How To Speak Cat: A Guide To Decoding Cat Language"
I have read probably close to 100 cat books and magazines, all in search of understanding my furry feline a bit better. There were so many things in Dr. Weitzman's book that I learned for the first time. Like way my kitties and I like to rub noses. Why my kitties and I like to look at each other and blink our eyes very slowly.
This is a great read if you love cats as much as I do!

Today my conversation is with Jim Greene, author of Unlocking Your Spiritual Greatness. Jim asks if you've ever thought, "is this all there is?" God has already given us everything we need to live an exciting and Spiritually Great Life, we just have to unlock it.
Just as there are exercises for physical training, there are very specific exercises for spiritual conditioning and growth.
I would say that Jim puts this in simple, easy to understand language. This book isn't the sort of book you sit down and read from cover to cover. It's the kind of book where it's not a race, you must have time to spend, because unlocking your spiritual greatness, in the same way as growing a relationship, always takes time. Wow. This is one of those conversations where I can only imagine what I would do and where I'd be if I happened to be dealt the same cards that Manny Scott was dealt. It's deep. Not counting sleeping on the street, Manny had lived in 26 apartments by the time he was 16. Stop for a minute. Try to comprehend that. What does that say about stability, dependability, the formation of friendships, or lack of. Well, this guy managed to not only turn it all around, but thrive, prosper and not become what his surroundings at the time dictated for him to become. Loved his story and this will be a great read for kids, adults and really anyone who has become discouraged. Settle in for a wonderful conversation with Manny Scott...

(cue the Twilight Zone soundtrack) Again, another interview came my way and considering the life changing Age Management of West Michigan plan that I've been on for the last 6 and a half weeks, much of this information sounds strikingly familiar to me.
Me and sugar, we had a thing goin' on. It was an affair that lasted many years. What I didn't realize was that I couldn't pull back from sugar. Sugar had a hold on me and much like an alcoholic, I couldn't only have one bite of a cupcake and be okay. One bite, just one bite, and I was back on the wagon, with no control over how little or how much I ate. I do believe that in some people the real power to "Just Say No" is taken away. All because of the way that sugar interacts and intermingles in their body. I'm that person. This is such an interesting conversation with Marla Heller. She fills in so many of the blanks when it comes to diet, the foods we eat, health, sugars, carbs and proteins.
When it comes to knowing how to lessen pain in the body by simply following a diet that is more rich in whole foods; a smoothie that not only will make you feel more energized and strong but a smoothie that also makes your skin and eyes look rejuvenated. I'm living the story right now on the Age Management of West Michigan Integrative Medical Weight Management Program. I could tell a major difference in myself after the first week of detox. Something shifted...
WOW. Anny Donewald has written a gripping, heart wrenching, saga about her own life, her memoir.
Her dad was an NCAA basketball coach, and one of his players sexually abused his daughter. Her journey begins with God, then the sexual assault, then drugs, stripping, a short stint as a high class escort, and her story ends once again with God and Eve's Angels.
Anny has written "Dancing For The Devil" One Woman's Dramatic and Devine Rescue From The Sex Trade Industry", and as you will hear her talk about in our conversation, and it will blow the lid off of some stereotypes relating to men, young girls, strippers, sports, basketball, strip clubs, pornography, escort services and the sex trade.

I was familiar with Callista Gingrich because I interviewed her husband Newt Gingrich, when his book "Victory At Yorktown" was released.
In this conversation, we talked about the 4th in Callista's Ellis The Elephant series. There is "Sweet Land of Liberty", "Land Of The Pilgrims Pride" , "Yankee Doodle Dandy" and her just released "From Sea To Shining Sea".
I can't tell you how much I loved this book. It's reading level is an N, indicating K through 3rd grade. But as Callista shared in the interview, her mother believes it should be K through 80! I agree. Each child living in America should be given the opportunity to read this book. The illustrations, the writing (in poem and verse form), the stories so vivid and colorful, it is all so well done. Our American history comes alive in the Ellis The Elephant series! This would make THE best gift to a school or even a just because gift for someone special. Loved it, and her.

Gordy Marshall says he found a new respect for the Moody Blues after playing with the guys and dissecting their music. I get that. When you take a song like Nights In White Satin, and listen to the instrumentation and the complexity of every instrument coming together you get a glimpse into what Gordy is talking about.
This isn't your typical sex, drugs and rock & roll book. It's a book about touring with one of the greatest rock bands, visiting places most of us will never visit, plus a lot of behind the scenes anecdotes and escapades that will both make you smile and understand a little bit more about life with The Moody Blues.

It's 2013 and Nikita Odnoralov, is one of the founding members in the band of brothers who call themselves "Everfound". He's 23 years old and so wise beyond his years. His story, his family's story, needs to be made into a Hallmark movie.
Nikita's journey starts with a great, great, grandfather living in the communist Soviet Union. The story is one of many twists and turns, with the great, great grandfather being imprisoned because of his faith, missionaries blasting Christian music into communist Russia and people finding God because of it, concentration camps, the family eventually coming to America to avoid religious persecution, and a band of 4 brothers, who through their music broke through in spite of where the family came from years earlier.
Nikita's story will make you pause, and hopefully think about some of the simple freedoms we enjoy here in America, things we take for granted like our freedom to worship.

Remember the floods in Nashville, first week in May, 2010? It broke the 500 year flood line! I interviewed singer/songwriter Amy Grant yesterday. Just visit Neil Preston's website www.PrestonPictures.com and I promise you, you will see a photograph you recognize. That is just how much Neil Preston and his iconic photographs shaped generations.
I can't tell you how excited I was to talk to this guy. His eye, the way he can capture something on film, digitally, it's more than a gift! Think about that for a minute. I looked at his gallery on his website and recognized image after image after image. Somewhere in my brain his work registered in my long term memory;) That's a pretty unbelievable accomplishment for someone I had never met personally.
An image, not unlike music, art, it can affect you, sometimes whether you realize it or not. It get's you on a soul level.
Since about 1970 Neil Preston was pretty much the exclusive photographer for Led Zeppelin. He toured with them, he was behind the scenes with them and he saw things that none of us would ever see. As he said in the interview when I asked him about some of those things, he said "I was starting to make him blush."
His new book Led Zeppelin: Sound and Fury is available now in the iBookstore at: www.iTunes.com/Bookstore for only $9.99.
It contains 250 photographs with 100 never before seen. He included content sheets so you can actually see his process (that is what the interesting part is to me), there are stories, and history, and everything you love about an interactive book experience. This is one of those interactive books you need to buy for yourself or gift a friend with i.e. a photographer, a band member, a fan, or just someone who likes to see the way things work.
Visit Neil Preston's website too at: www.PrestonPictures.com and be sure to click on the gallery tab.
Singer, Songwriter Josh Wilson has a story. He puts many of his life experiences into words and music, especially on his new CD Carry Me, available in stores and online beginning April 8th, 2013.
Josh shared what it felt like to be in his mid twenties experiencing panic attacks for the first time. He wasn't nervous or anxious about anything, but as he learned, you don't need to be nervous or anxious to experience one of those episodes. He writes all about it on his latest CD.

James Cunningham is better known as a comedian but on Eat Street, a show that airs on the COOKING Channel he is all about finding North America's tastiest, messiest and most irresistible street food and eating it. He's admits he's not much of a cook but he knows good food.
The Eat Street Cookbook, for me, is like no other. It is a beautiful book to look at, with gorgeous pictures of street food and stories about the people cooking it all up. I highly recommend this book for a novice chef or even for the more experienced. This is not just another cookbook, it has a little bit of everything in it from Maine to San Francisco and even beyond. Because "street food" is part of a living and breathing culture that almost everyone enjoys taking part in, and is finally enjoying its day in the "spotlight", or maybe I should say "street light".

Great conversation with singer, songwriter Shawn McDonald. I have always loved his music especially, because he is a storyteller. It wasn't at all surprising to me when he shared with me some of his inspirations growing up. I could say to myself, "Yes, yes, I can see that."
As in his songs, our conversation is just as varied and colorful! He's a very interesting guy and his new CD The Analog Sessions is really good!
Analog, has fallen by the wayside for so many looking at a fast, easy, cheap way to disseminate music digitally. BUT, when it comes to sound? Nothing compares. Shawn talked to me a little bit about what it meant for him going into the studio and recording on analog tape. It's a bit of a different process. I think musicians and singers will appreciate this interview for all the technical talk about the whole process.

Just when you think you know what went down, or at least the spin they put on it, Jack Murphy and Brandon Webb blow it wide open with their new e-book Benghazi: The Definitive Report.
What, if anything, did Obama know about the attack that was about to take place in Benghazi, Libya? Who gave the order to go in? Was it a conspiracy that the American people are just not aware of? Why did the State Department and White House issue a statement blaming a youTube video for the attack and then later retract it?
Contrary to what news and media was reporting, General David Petraeus did not resign because of Benghazi. If you are a war, military, or terrorism buff this makes for an exciting and eye opening read.

Jim Rogers is an American investor & the author of "Street Smarts: Adventures On The Road And In The Markets." Jim was such a savvy investor he was able to retire at the age of 37.
Jim believes that because of commodity shortages around the world we will see a rise in social unrest, globally.
In Jim's latest book he talks about how Asia will become the economic leader in there 21st century, much like the United States was in the 20th century. Jim is such a strong believer in this, that he has moved his family to Singapore. All of Jim's children speak Mandarin fluently, as this will be the leading language of the future. To hear her name, is to bring back so many memories. If you grew up in the 1960's you couldn't turn on the radio without hearing Shout, To Sir With Love, Boom,Bang-A-Bang or the James Bond Soundtrack, The Man With The Golden Gun. Lulu is a Scottish singer who was born in Glasgow.
At the very tender age of 15 she was signed to Decca Records, and the rest is history. I was curious about what she thought made her turn out so normal, when so many other young, teenage stars, somehow go wayward, and end up dead or really messed up. She had an interesting answer.
She has appeared on stage in Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Song and Dance", as well as the Royal National Theatre's "Guys and Dolls." , she has hosted her own television program, "Happening For Lulu", and hosted a radio show on Capitol Radio, she continues to tour and make beautiful music too. If you're lucky you'll catch her on QVC, she's proudly can say she is 65 years old and looks 35. QVC markets her beauty regimen.

How often do you get to say Peter Yarrow from Peter, Paul, and Mary sang me a Valentine's Day Song, and so today I am Peter Yarrow's valentine.
America has it's folk music and Peter Yarrow, of Peter Paul and Mary, is right there at the top. They performed at the 1963 March On Washington where Dr. Martin Luther King delivered his "I Have A Dream Speech." Never once, did I think I would ever have the opportunity to talk to someone who was actually at that march, that day. (Thank you Peter for sharing in detail what that day looked and felt like. WOW!)
Peter, Paul and Mary came up at a time when they were inspired to make music that meant something socially. There was a cause, a purpose, a reason that they were doing what they were doing. It wasn't for "celebrity" like so many chase after today. I believe they recognized that they had a platform and an opportunity to affect social change in a positive way. Who really does that in music today? GaGa is the only one that is at the top of my mind.
Peter published Puff The Magic Dragon a few years back, a children's book, but really loved by all. His latest book is "I'm In Love With A Big Blue Frog." In it he touches on prejudice and racial issues, hopefully this story will somehow open those little minds up and allow a new thought to be pushed in.

Wow, this was a difficult conversation for me to have, not because of nerves or anything but because of the subject, a cute, little, bright eyed, 9 year old girl, who innocently went with a family friend, as she had done many times before, but this time was different.
He kidnapped her and abused her sexually and emotionally for 17 days, 7 feet beneath the ground in a coffin size, sound proof room.

Can a dog make inferences?(an inference is coming to a logical conclusion, anticipating what's coming next) Why don't dogs like some people from the get go? What about Fido, does he have a language of his own, through the sounds he makes vocally?
Brian's book The Genius Of Dogs: How Dogs Are Smarter Than You Think is a wonderful read for anyone who wants to understand the mind of their furry friend a little bit better. We're not talking brain studies here, where animals are harmed or hurt in any way. This is more about how the brain of a dog works.
Past testing has shown that people have a tendency to look at the left side of a person's face first when looking at them. It's unconscious, but it happens. Experiments have shown that dogs do the same thing. The left side of the face, when looking at a person apparently shows more about where a person's emotions are at at the time. Who would have thought that?
In past days we may have thought we, the human species, were closest in behavior to the chimp. But after reading Brian's book I think dogs are right up there. (I've always thought that but now there is proof)

Charles Murray is an America Libertarian, Political Scientist, and Pundit who is currently working as a fellow at the American Institute, a conservative "Think Tank" in Washington D.C.
He has also authored other books including The Bell Curve, that drew much criticism from the African American community. His latest book Coming Apart: The State Of White America 1960-2010, chronicles the changes in America that have affected the white population.
In days gone by, there was always an upper and lower class. Whites typically fell into to upper class demo and other ethnicities were fighting and working hard to also be a part of the upper class society.
In Charles' book Coming Apart, he explores and talks about the upper and lower class within the white population of America over the past 50 years.
This was a truly fascinating book to read. The soft cover was released the end of January, and includes the latest 2012 census which corroborates many, if not most of Charles' earlier discoveries.

I bet you might have even watched Susan Cain's viral video on Ted.com. So far it has 3 million plus views and growing everyday.
Susan has written a wonderful book on the assets and struggles of being an introvert. She is a self confessed introvert, I took the test on her website, and I also am an overwhelming introvert. So what is the scoop on these interesting creatures that don't appear to fit into society as well as the extroverts do? What can, and do, they bring to the table? Talents & gifts that go unnoticed, and unrecognized, in a society that seems to only reward boisterous, loud, "squeaky-wheel-gets-the-grease" kind of behavior.
Susan explains how in America's early days the strong, silent, pensive, type was a big part of where new innovations came from in this country. While the extroverts are the face, the introverts are the brains. (my words not hers) Why? Because they have more time for thinking....
Both personality types bring an equally important value to the table. But in recent years it appears the introvert's value has decreased, I believe, at the sacrifice of new and innovative technology in America. That, and the fact that many 1st & 2nd grade classes were strewn about with 3/4 of the kids on Ritalin. That pretty much snuffs out creativity and critical thinking, but that's a story for another time.

Tippi Hendren and I opened the interview with talk about about director/ producer Alfred Hitchcock and his sexual advances toward her that have just come to light.
If you watch "Mad Men" it's kind of that type of behavior. Women were more afraid to do anything about it, than today, but we still have a very long way to go. As Tippi recalls, it would have been different if it happened to her today, in 2013. If it would have happened to her today, she would have been awarded thousands of dollars from winning a lawsuit. Now she is interested in educating other women about this.
Tippi also talked about her love of animals, Michael Jackson's animals that came to live with her after his death, and Shambala, The R.O.A.R. Project. It was also fun to also talk about the similarity between the common house cat and a lion.
Fun lady who is literally changing the world for the better, for our animals, and those less fortunate.

I love this girl! She was so much fun to talk to and so giving with her candor and her truth. We know Kristen from her body of work in front of the camera but there is a much more personal side.
In Kristen's new book, "GUTS: A Memoir, The Endless Follies & Tiny Triumphs Of A Giant Disaster" she is brutally honest about her alcohol and drug addiction. I believe that in order to move through something the minimum requirement is truth, your own truth, being honest with yourself and others around you. Shame and trying to hide parts of your life away in a closet not only rob the people around you from getting to know the fullness of YOU, but it robs you from being free to be you.

I talked to a real life hero today! His name is Staff Sargeant Sal Guinta. I was curious what kind of kid Sal was? What kind of kid signs up for the Army, what exactly did they say to make him want to join and; really, what I wanted to know is what kind of guy runs toward danger, when everyone else is running away from it?
Sal Guinta is a very humble and simple guy who really doesn't believe he did anything extraordinary.
We touched on war, Afghanistan, the real possibility of death, and facing your own mortality. I also asked him if he was familiar with the word impossible? His answer made me laugh....
This is a wonderful book for any soldier, former soldier, military enthusiast, or anyone who wants to read a hope filled book about a real life hero. A hero, whether he wants to be one or not.

I was very excited and nervous to be talking to Miss Valerie today. I've always felt that in many ways the Mary Tyler Moore Show shaped my life. I saw Mary working in this very exciting world of TV(new to women at the time), she has this cool friend named Rhoda, you're both working women, single, with guy trouble, and no kids. And even as I teenager I remember thinking "That's the life I want!" And that's pretty much the life I got, and it's all and more than what I had hoped for.
Valerie Harper has a new book out, a memoir, called I, Rhoda. She takes us behind the scenes with Lou Grant, Ted Baxter, Georgia, Phyllis and Betty White's, Sue Ann Nivens. She also touched on her lung cancer and how it changed her. And if she isn't busy enough she also has a broadway show called "Looped" and you can see a clip from it on her website.

This guy is the real deal. He was when I met him back in 1990 and he is now. I just answered the phone and hit the record button and the craziness began. He's fun, flirty, talented, and the movies he and his wife Janeen are making, well I just LOVE them;D They tell a warm story, a story of hope, enlightenment and positivity. His newest movie, The Sweeter Side Of Life, airs tomorrow, January 19th on the Hallmark Channel. And as Michael suggests, if you don't get the Hallmark Channel, call up some friends, find one who does get the Hallmark Channel, and make it a pizza and a movie night.
Today on the air with me Michael Damian talked about The Young & The Restless, of course. It was such a big part of growing up for so many of us in the 80's and 90's.
We talked about his music and his new song "Rock My Heart", that song can be heard in the Hallmark movie The Sweeter Side of Life premiering tomorrow, January 19th at 9pm ET on the Hallmark Channel.
And lastly, we talked about the movie, the message in the story and how funny it is when you realize things always happen for a reason. Look around you, maybe your life too is sweeter than you first may have thought...

It's on tonight on the FX Channel, Anger Management is the name of the show and it was just renewed for a solid two year run. Shawnee Smith may be most familiar to you from her movies and her role on Becker as Linda, the ditzy, zany, receptionist/nurse.
She is a hoot! It was a fun and crazy interview and she is a very light hearted girl, I dare you to try and keep up with the interview. It was difficult for me;) She has a page on Facebook but as she said in the interview she is more low key and private and kind of minds her own business.
Since this interview her Facebook page has been disabled.

I talked to Steve-O a while back about his battles with addiction and Jason Mewes was very generous with his time and shared with me a little bit about his own battles with demons.
Jason Mewes, is an actor, an entertainer and a naturally funny guy. His body of work includes Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma Jay, Silent Bob Strikes Back, The Last Godfather, and Money Shot. Heather was so much fun to talk to today, and I really learned a lot about just what goes into growing quality medical marijuana. After dealing with a bit of a snafu on the phone line she shared with me memories about shooting The Blair Witch Project, other wild, and crazy adventures she has enjoyed, and why she is now known as the GrowGirl, also the name of her new book.
Yup, Heather Donahue has left Los Angeles, celebrity, and acting behind her. Her new career? She is the GrowGirl, she grows medical marijuana in Nuggettown, California, where it is always sunny and life is mellow. Growing medical marijuana is a business that is oftentimes dominated by men, but to hear her talk, it really is an entire subculture, that she and I believe is becoming more mainstream every day.
She lovingly calls her well taken care of marijuana plants, "The Girls", because all of the marijuana plants are female.
Heather also teaches "Memoir" classes? If you've ever wanted to write your own life story, this lady has the wisdom to teach you everything you need to know. I wanted to know what the biggest stumbling block was for people who have tried to write their own life story, and her answer may surprise you.

Dentist turned Super Agent, Dr. Jerry Argovitz talked to me about all the behind the scenes negotiations and what really happens in Pro Sports, the NCAA, the NFL and everything in between. Jerry is the kind of guy who ruffles a lot of feathers. Years ago he started the USFL, the United States Football League, and also has the distinction of signing the #1 Draft Pick, Billy Sims to the FIRST Million Dollar Contract! Three years later Billy Sims sued Dr. Jerry Argovitz and the term "egregious conflict of interest" was coined. That contract that Sims signed with Argovitz, was deemed voidable.
Great read for sports fans, parents of children pursuing a professional sports career, and even teens who want to get a real look at the high stakes money and mind games involved in pro sports. It's not pretty....

Jullian Fellowes, the creator of the wildly popular television program Downton Abbey, admits that at the time he was developing the show he was reading Carol Wallace's book "To Marry An English Lord Tales Of Wealth, And Marriage, And Sex And Snobbery". Easy to see how he was inspired by this read. Carol's book took me back to my collecting days when I had Victorian fans, walking sticks, Victorian lamps, my Belter Rosewood tables and Charles Eastlake chairs and couch. So cozy relaxing while surrounded by Victoriana. It was a magical era!
Carol McD. Wallace, who now prefers to be known as just Carol Wallace, she'll explain why in the interview, loved the Victorian era as much as I enjoy reminiscing about it. In her book, that is a pleasure to read, she has included era period photos, interesting facts, quotes, diagrams of homes and rooms, customs and stories about some of the people who lived then, back in the day. It is easy and fun reading for all ages and for those especially interested in this period in time...The Victorian Era!

Unless you actually pick up the book and thumb through it a bit, this is not the kind of book you think it is. This is a wonderful coffee table book you can spend a few minutes at a time with, or read and look at for hours.
Jordan Matter, is a photographer, as well as an observer of movement. So he combined his love of photography, his love of movement, and included some quotes from Henry David Thorough, William Shakespeare, and even Mae West, "Too Much Of A Good Thing, Can Be Wonderful" into this enchanting nugget of reading. *** It is important to note that nothing in this book has been Photoshopped. Yes, some of the scenes look dangerous, and they are, but it was one moment captured in time.
In this book dancers are put into unusual scenes. Nothing is rehearsed, some of them he captured within 5 frames others took hundreds. The one scene that caught my eye was a dancer in the operating room of a hospital. I asked about how he was able to get permission for all of these scenes. You have to hear his answer for this one!

Well, I didn't know what to expect but Newt Gingrich came off to me as very real. He answered the questions I asked with confidence.
Newt's new book is entitled Victory At Yorktown. It completes his trilogy and chronicles George Washington as he takes his troops into battle during the Revolutionary War. What makes this books different is it is a novel, so while the facts are based in truth, he took some liberty in "imagining" what George Washington might have been like as a man, a person. What would he be feeling as he led his men into battle.
Newt also touched on what he thinks went wrong for the Republicans during the 2012 election, partisanship in America, who Newt believes was the most effective Republican and Democratic Presidents in history were, and what would George Washington think about the state of America in the last 10 years.

To look at The Beatles, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison, as individuals, their solo careers after they left The Beatles broke up. Andrew takes a behind the scenes look at them as individuals, musicians, people. He also shares the inspiration for many of the songs they released after the break up.

*This interview was given to me by Phil Leonetti, under restricted conditions to protect his privacy and safety**
It's not often that you have an opportunity to talk to someone who is still living in protective custody, under an assumed name, working a 9-5 job somewhere, with a past that no one was aware of until now. It's not often one gets the opportunity to talk to a hit man, a killer who has admitted to killing at least 9 people.
His name is Phil Leonetti, a former member of one of America's most violent crime family's. He is the nephew of Little Nicky Scarfo, of La Cosa Nostra fame, who is still in prison now because of Phil's testimony when he turned state's evidence. John Gotti and Vincent Gigante along with a number of other mob members are all in prision because of what Phil said under oath. His Uncle Nicky has a $500,000 dollar bounty on his nephews head. The mafia has a long memory and the guys that Phil "put away" have a long memory, and a number of them were just paroled from prison recently.
Phil's story is about what his life was like back in the day that he too was a member of the mafia. He has admitted to killing at least 9 people, 9 "hits". I asked him a lot of questions about his life back then, and his life now, and what exactly the future might hold. I also wondered what it was like to know he took the life of nine people.
How can a man turn states evidence against the mob and still be walking around today? Find out how...
Here's Phil's Story...the book is called Mafia Prince.

Dean Martin has a daughter, Deana Martin, obviously his namesake. She has a musical career of her own but she wanted to talk to me about the old days, her dad, Uncle Frank, (Sinatra that is), and Uncle Sammy, (yup, Sammy Davis Jr.), and Dean Martin, (her daddy).
Deana was so much fun to talk to, hearing about her dad's image as a womanizer and boozer, (both untrue). I asked her if her dad ever talked about what he really felt when Frank Sinatra, brought Dean "Dino" Martin on that Muscular Dystrophy Telethon stage, unknowingly to Jerry Lewis, back in 1976? It had been twenty years since the falling out...what was the falling out?
Deana Martin was a pure joy to talk to. So very giving of her time and memories. If you are too young to remember and appreciate Dean Martin, you can catch all of the unedited, unscripted, unbelievable talent that ever crossed the stage.

Malcolm McDowell is an original! He has fun with the parts that he chooses and somehow always makes them multidimensional, multifaceted, multilayered.
Whether he is portraying Alex DeLarge in A Clockwork Orange, or the man who killed Captain Kirk in Star Trek Generations, to Dr. Samuel Loomis, Halloween's Michael Myers psychiatrist to his current role as Sheriff Cooper in Silent Night.
The movie starts out in a small mid-western town, Christmas Eve Night, and the annual Christmas Eve Parade. Oh yes, one small detail, there is a maniac in a Santa suit running around killing those he deems to be naughty.
I'm not a big slasher movie fan, I learned that Malcolm McDowell isn't one either, but this is different because it's done tongue in cheek. Yes, you will be terrified but some laughter will bring your blood pressure back down to normal throughout.

Robert McKimson Jr. is the son of one of the most accomplished and influential animators in history. Bob's dad Robert work in the Golden Age of animation for every major company including Warner Brothers Cartoons, Dell Comics, Loony Tunes and even Golden Books.
Robert McKimson Jr.'s new book "I Say, I Say ...Son" includes never before seen drawings, reproductions, animation cels, comic book illustrations, lobby cards and screen captures. It is a comprehensive look at real animation, the kind of animation that was done by hand, long before the digital age and computer animation.
Robert talks about his dad's process (what comes first the story, the animation or the voice), how an automobile accident changed his father's life and the way he worked and what kind of father Robert McKimson was.

Veteran Boston Globe Columnist Brian McGrory had a life that every other single man would love to have. He was a bachelor, he lived right in the city of Boston with a beautiful view, he had tickets to any and every sporting event he could ever imagine, and he was making great money to boot. He had a beautiful dog who had been a faithful companion for years but Harry passed away and that was when Brain's life began to change.
He started seeing Harry's veterinarian who had children, lived in the country with a menagerie of animals, one of them was Buddy, the rooster, who didn't take too kindly to Brian. Well, to be truthful, and in Brian's words, "Buddy hated my guts". This is the story of Buddy and how a rooster made Brian a family.
Tis is a wonderful story for anyone who loves animals, understands that we can learn a lot about them and in turn a lot about ourselves. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and you will too.

What a fun interview this was! What is it about the Kennedy's that still intrigues the world? Was it their presidency, their, lineage, the drama, the 1960's, the world at the time? What was it? What is it?
Kitty Kelley's good friend and photographer Stanley Tretick captured it all. He shot many of the most memorable private photos of the Kennedy's and their children. Such as the one of little John John peering out from beneath his father's desk. Or the one of Caroline wearing sunglasses and holding up a photo of her daddy. Kitty shares all the behind the scenes stories of the classic photos contained in this book, 200 in total.

Being a native Detroit-er myself I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to interview a guy who just wrote a book about my hometown.
Mark Binelli, says he grew up on the east side, St. Clair Shores to be exact. He and I share the fact that we both lived near the infamous 8 Mile that Eminem talks and sings about.
Mark shares what he sees as some of the things that brought Detroit down, how it is trying to rebuild itself and how it might just become a living example of the first post industrial city.
Being from Detroit myself, we are survivors, nothing woud surprise me about Detroit making a comeback bigger and better than before, in fact that is my prayer. I have nothing but great memories of growing up within the city limits of Detroit's east side, Rossini to be exact. I lived between Kelly Road and Shakespeare, a few blocks south of 8 mile, and just down the street from Eastland Mall. Mark's book will make you both sad and hopeful, about Detroit's past, present and future.
Post Note*Apparently Europeans are fascinated by Detroit, flying to the city to see as they said to Mark during an interview "We came to see the end of the world." That is what Detroit represents to them...

Randall Sullivan is all over television right now. He was on the Katie Couric Show, he has been on tabloid talk shows, and all the news channels, why? Because his new book UNTOUCHABLE is causing some ripples. It's 776 pages of new revelations regarding Michael Jackson.
I asked Randall about his opinion of the king of pop both before he interviewed numerous sources and after he wrote the book. Was his opinion more or less favorable of the King Of Pop, his answer may surprise you. He also talked about about Jackson's kids, his relationship with Lisa Marie Presley and Michael not really wanting to do music anymore because he was on fire for something else. Oh and by the way, there is some unreleased music I asked him about and got a confirmation.
Fascinating man to talk to, and if you are a Michael Jackson fan you have to hear it.

His resume, his credentials, include Brigham & Women's and Children's Hospitals including the Harvard Medical School in Boston.
Yes, Dr. Eban Alexander was a skeptic too. That was before he had his own NDA, Near Death Experience. His book reads a bit differently than others I have read. He didn't see his life flashing before his eyes. I don't remember his describing a dark tunnel, it was more of a worm hole. He did talk to God, he realized how powerful prayer really is, and it changed him forever.
What do his respected colleagues think about all of this? Find out that as well as the dramatic details of his brush with death, his encounter with God, how does science and spirituality really fit together now for him.
This is a guy who has spent and devoted his entire life to studying the brain, and now, to have everything turned upside down, well, it's a powerful story in Proof Of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon's Journey Into The Afterlife.

***We had a poor connection so Kris' volume is a bit low, it's not your speakers.
It's the holidays and for me there nothing that make a better gift than a book. On those cold winter nights you can settle in by the fireplace with a good read in your hands. Just the feel of good paper does it for me;) Or if you are into the downloadable kind, well, that will work too!
Today I had a chance to catch up with Kris Carr, best known for her Crazy Sexy Everything Series. I first learned about Kris, when I was diagnosed with colon cancer back in 2009 and a local television reporter by the name of Emily Richett gave me a Crazy Sexy Cancer card to life my spirits.
Today Kris talks a little bit about her cancer diagnosis, how eating well is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and your body and shares a bit about the recipes she came up with for Crazy Sexy Kitchen. If you think this is another "tree hugging, fruit and granola lovin' cookbook, you couldn't be more wrong.

Had a chance to catch up with Suzanne Somers this morning. Suzanne was best knows as Crissy on Three's Company but she has come a long way baby! She is a New York Times Best Selling author, entrepreneur, singer, comedienne and health care advocate. She also sweetly revealed herself by reminding me with some of the other things she is that mean the most to her, wife, mother and grandmother. I only had a few minutes with her and was trying to fit in any many questions as possible before I was cut off;) Suzanne Somers, is still a superwoman in my book, maybe even more so after talking with her.

Peter Ames Carlin, just released the most comprehensive book on the life of one of Rock and Roll's lasting legends, Bruce Springsteen. Peter spoke with Bruce's mom Adele, as well as his friends, his family, ex-girlfriends and band mates.
There have been many books on Springsteen's life but none ever had the blessing of Bruce Springsteen himself. In "Bruce" by Peter Ames Carlin, he talks about he and his father's troubled relationship growing up as a kid in New Jersey, he talks about his own battle with depression, his short lived marriage to Julianne Phillips, his life with wife Patti Scialfa, and his little encounter with Janis Joplin as a teenager (it kind of scared the crap out of him). This is one of the books you will not be able to put down. As I told Peter, I can't wait to devour it!
Peter has also written books on Brian Wilson and Paul McCartney.

I spoke with James Redford, Robert Redford's son who is following in his dad's footsteps, writing, directing, producing. I had the chance to screen the film "The Big Picture" last night and I have to tell you regardless of whether you have a child, you know of someone, you yourself have been diagnosed as dyslexic or maybe you don't even know anybody with dyslexia Redford's film The Big Picture: Rethinking Dyslexia is educational, fun and has lots of food for thought. 1 in 5 people are dyslexic and 1 in 10 are profoundly so. In the film, James spoke with Sir Richard Branson, Charles Schwab, attorney David Boies, as well as doctors and children who have been diagnosed with dyslexia. The list is impressive... http://www.dyslexia.com/famous.htm
