Exodus 21:1-11
We are all prone to grow weary and want to give up. Especially when it relates to “doing good”. Why do good if nothing changes? Why stand for truth if nobody cares? Why love people if they won’t love you back? Why labor if their is no reward? This is the way we think of things from an earthly perspective; viewed from the eyes and heart of flesh. Yet God says, don’t grow weary. Don’t give up. And why? because God is the one who rewards us and he has promised that there is a harvest for those who stay the task and continue sowing the “seed” of the gospel.In todays message Pastor Joplin Emberson wants us to see that the passage before us is a promise. And because it is a promise of God, it can be considered a spiritual “law”. Like gravity is a “law” of science that cannot be escaped, so the law of sowing and reaping is also a spiritual law that cannot be escaped. Tune in for the message titled "Do Not Grow Weary".
It is witnessed throughout all scripture: Moses and the burning bush (Exodus 3), the fire that fell from heaven on Mt Carmel (1 Kings 18), the chariots of fire that Elisha's servant's eyes were opened to see (2 Kings 6), the divided fire of tongues that set on the heads of those men and women in the upper room on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2), the "flame of fire" we are told God makes his ministers into (Hebrews 1:7), the baptism of fire that only Jesus is capable of sending spoken of in Matthew 3:11.
They are all fire...but much different from worldly fire. They are all visible to some degree, however, visibly different from earthly fire. The difference between earthly fire, man-made fire, and the divine fire I speak of is a difference that is literally worlds apart. One is earthly and produces death. The other is heavenly and produces life. One is man-made and eventually burns out. The pother is the very breath of God and it never dies, it never loses power, it never flickers out, it burns forever.

The Exodus Study - PART 4 - THE RESPONSE OF THE REDEEMEDLesson 21 / The 10 Commandments
Before looking at the Ten Commandments, it is important to take a more general look at the whole question of law, and its relationship to covenant. We have already noted that God redeemed his people because he remembered his covenant with them (2:24), and he gives his law to them so that they will keep his covenant (19:5). The idea of covenant is bigger than the idea of law. Yet the Book of Exodus describes the law of God as the ‘book of the covenant’ (Exod. 24:7). So what is the relationship between covenant and law? That question may be answered in various ways.

We finished lesson 19 with a study on chapter 17 of Exodus. In vs. 1-7, the water that flowed from the rock of Horeb, which Moses was to strike with the rod of judgment. * Also worth noting is A.W. Pink’s comments on the fact that there is no new dispensation for the Jews that starts at Sinai. There’s began at the passover. God’s dealing only change with Israel at Sinai because they enter into the Sinaiatic covenant there. Previously God dealt with Israel on the ground of the Abrahamic covenant. From Sinai onwards that changed. *
This now brings us the 4th section of the book of Exodus. Israel at Mount Sinai.

On the day of Jesus’ murder, there were multitudes of people who played a role. Some active. Some passive. And some, like Pilate, who wished they could have just stayed out of it. Here we see one of the most important lessons of human history: nobody can stay out of it. Not when it comes to Jesus. There is always a choice that a person must make. There is no neutral ground. It is never a question of if a person must make a choice; the only question is what choice will each person make.

There are those who wander in the wilderness like Israel did for 40 years. Then there are those who are tested in it like David, like Jesus. The difference between the two wilderness experiences is the difference between night and day. Literally, it is the difference between right and wrong; between running from God and following God. One group is led to the wilderness by their unbelieving, disobeying, rebellious hearts. The other group is led into the wilderness by the divine hand of Almighty God where He will make himself known to them. Today, the latter of the two will be the subject of our study.

In many ways, we are all much more alike than we want to admit. In truth, every person on the planet longs for the same thing. Young and old. Rich and poor. Saved and unsaved. Man or woman. We all long for the same thing. In this sermon, Pastor Joplin breaks down the three simple words "as the deer" from the Book of Psalms to demonstrate that all of us are longing for the same "one thing."
Every action we take is seen by the unseen and heard by the unnoticed. Be it our children, family members, friends, coworkers, complete strangers or the Lord alone. Everything we do, say and present to the world around us will be seen or heard. There is nothing that can be done in solitude to yourself. You can do it intentionally or negligently, either way, if you have publicly claimed to be a follower of Christ, you are giving representation. What are you showing others? What are you speaking to others? Is the example you are setting in the little parts of your life glorifying to God in victory and failure?
Few things are more deceptive than a good outward appearance. Go to church? Check. Know some scriptures? Check. Pray at meals? Check. Hell is one of the most neglected topics in the modern Christian church. It wasn’t so with Jesus. Jesus never neglected preaching and warning people about the imminent hell that was coming for those who did not repent. And what would cause Jesus to preach so firm and so consistently on the topic of hell? The answer might surprise you. It was His great love for the very people who are heading to hell. His love forced him to speak the truth, no matter how hard it would be for the hearers. But His love did not stop there. Jesus did something about it. Jesus did something to rescue people from this awful place he warned them was coming.
