Episode 87 will be the final episode of Coronavirus Central in light of the other challenges America faces and my desire to cover them more fully including a wider focus of topics and a more regional impact. Allow me to say thank you to you all. Today's episode starts by looking at a viral outbreak reaching new heights with an emphasis in the South and West, a bizarre and deadly means of transmission between cells by viral tentacles, and cases of delirium being caused by this still poorly understood pandemic. We see threats on the horizon of a new swine flu, and an economy that can't close but people at risk in every situation. Big money is running away from the system, and India and China continue escalating their provocations as weapons are being smuggled into the US from China to unknown ends. Episode 84 looks at the scene around the world to follow up on two trends predicted by this show. Episode 82 looks at our economy and reveals the house of cards that has been built upon the increasingly shaky foundation of corporate debt. Counting on businesses to stay afloat, the shock of the coronavirus pandemic and all it has wrought has put retail out of business in huge numbers, threatening commercial mortgage defaults. The Fed intervened and changed the rules to ensure corporate debt would remain liquid, which led to corporations acting like banks to buy their own debt with money basically created in the market through changes in Fed policy and the policy changes enacted by the CARES act, inflating a gigantic bubble. But where 2008 was about mortgages, 2020 is about corporate bonds and CLOs, collateralized loan obligations. Corporations issue debt the Fed backstops which the banks then buy when rebundled into assets about those loans in a cynical pyramid scheme just waiting for a second wave to topple it, or perhaps China dumping debt, as we ask what a post-dollar world might look like? With America adding trillions of debt both on and off books, the financial attack upon us, and the sordid system trying to save itself at the impoverishment of our people might yet prove still the greatest risk of all, amplifying all the threats we already face beyond our ability to survive.

Episode 81 explores an interesting premise. It starts with a compelling piece from the people who run the Doomsday Clock about the probability Covid is man-made, bolstered by research from Norway and England that is quietly being released while attention is elsewhere. Against that, we see America diving once more into the mess, as Minneapolis agrees to disband the police and we wonder what that will do to both minority wealth and safety and public health. Multiple studies show blacks specifically have more health risk from Covid, yet the media and money keep pushing the protests harder, calling the very act of opposing them the dreaded canard of white supremacy. What we find, however, is quite different: From economic status, to safety, to free speech, to health, these demonstrations against a single act of police brutality that go against the trend toward better relations as demonstrated by statistics, show that ultimately one must question just how and why this animus is being used, and over this week we're going to start asking more clearly by whom.

Episode 74 is about the struggle between humanity and the coronavirus as we seek to unlock one another. The seventy second episode features a review of the highly contentious partisan response amidst the question of how we build a functional economy that can be sustained in the face of pandemic and urgent human need. For episode 70, we travel north to Canada for a comparison against what the United States experiences. A more robust policy response including direct aid support has helped minimize suffering for most Canadians, although a terrible failure in nursing homes, existing outside their public health system in many cases, has driven the vast majority of their deaths. We look at Montreal having many problems including the abandonment of elderly at one nursing home. The bank has been buying everything it can up there also, but with 3 million plus already unemployed in the country of 37 million, a projected economy drop of potentially 40%, and debt quickly rising, the questions of what a re-open will permit are a problem up there as everywhere. Food prices are rising, scarcity may become a problem, and the question of a recovery in the best of situations, even with a government more committed to the safety of their people, is uncertain at best and difficult to envision in the short of medium term.

Episode 68 was supposed to be about the divergent policy responses caused by the political polarization in the United States. After a serious look at just how well ideology is now predicting expectations beyond science, we see such American absurdities as the Right deploying a militia to defend a barber shop in Michigan, or the Left using the virus to decry toxic masculinity in mask usage, all ignoring this deadly pandemic. Deeper research into antibodies show more compelling evidence of ADE, that the sequence of strains may convey either immunity or severity, and offers a startling but evidentiary backed thesis from Japan that says earlier strains are the biggest determinant in why some places get wrecked, others do not, and who is at risk going forward, with America and the West in bad shape. If that's not enough, we also see evidence how ACE-II wide dispersal in the female reproductive system and fetal presence suggests earlier and wider dangers as this evolves unless we come together quickly to fight Covid instead of one another.

For the 58th Episode, we turn to a heavily divided America as we look at structural problems at both the economic and political levels and the challenges they portend. After a quick update about a disturbing new problem with children in the UK that is potentially Covid related, we see Nevada and Colorado join the Western Pact and Florida basically let slip they're coordinating their open with Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Tennessee in support of the Administration and DC. When you realize unemployment is in genuine risk of insolvency, the actions to open certain business, the recalcitrance of the Senate, and the unhealthy rush to begin again take on a new light as we see the Fed stepping up to help towns, with uncertain outcomes, as Congress does not. For our thirty-third episode, we start by noting that Facebook is now blocking legitimate stories which they attribute to a "bug" as the WHO and partners invest more energy into controlling information than fighting the outbreak. We share a new study that suggests children can still be at risk, though thankfully less than adults, as we also report from the Dutch that many young seemingly healthy people are in severe distress from Covid. The hope is people will change their behaviors as New York is perched on the verge of a major shutdown that we see happening now in Switzerland. We look at the problems of renters, unemployed, and those needing resources as a bipartisan consensus forms around debt suspension or forgiveness and the direct payment of income to all adult Americans to get through this crisis so people won't have to go out. As that lurches forward, we see Texas getting prepared with better decisions about public events, but shortfalls in supply. Louisiana is also coming under the gun post Mardi Gras, and while Florida has begun shutting down some bars and restaurants, partially, the Sunshine State continues to lag. For the thirtieth episode, we take stock of what we have to expect as the first heavy blast of the coronavirus outbreak is hitting the West beyond ravaged Italy. Episode 28 goes for a deep dive into science and policy about the coronavirus outbreak. We start with a new study which informs us Covid-19 can survive as an aerosol for up to three hours contradicting the earlier claim by the CDC that masks were unnecessary, a major problem as we are desperately lacking supplies despite efforts to ramp up production. We present a study that argues for immune suppression capacity of Covid-19 with reduced white blood cell count, but which offers also a useful diagnostic to predict case discovery and prognosis. Another study informs that people can have influenza and coronavirus simultaneously, leading to the testing errors, and perhaps increased risk. We look closely at how chloroquine offers the best hope for immediate aid, especially early in the infection, as it serves to basically jam the lock of the ACE-2 receptor which Covid-19 has most commonly been using. This treatment already pioneered in China and elsewhere is further amplified by using Zinc in conjunction to make the cell even less vulnerable to the virus in a method already being applied by Korea. Solutions exist to mitigate the crisis, but the policy continues to lag in the United States. While there is a welcome departure toward more serious consideration, the reality is both sides are still seeking to mitigate the crisis in a reactive mindset driven more by economics and ideology than understanding this is a war where a week's delay will mean fatal consequences for many people. It's a sobering Episode 19 where we start by looking at rapid worldwide progression of the Covid-19 pandemic. We start by evaluating risk factors to have a better understand of this disease, noting the elevated cancer, diabetes, and obesity numbers, as well as having a larger elderly population, suggest our vulnerable population percentage may be higher than China. Two new articles are covered in exhaustive detail cataloging both that Covid may behave like AIDS in actively suppressing the immune system, and detailing how that function could be causing people to literally forget to breathe due to neurological damage that appears likely to be enduring as Covid has been demonstrated to breach the blood-brain barrier. The CDC continues its string of bungled quarantines and releasing sick patients to the general public as we compliment the FDA for higher competence in working to get test kits out there, and we look at a promising serological test which can potentially identify those previously, or perhaps in remission, with their illnes that is being developed in Singapore. We look at evidence spread happened sooner, wider, and more often than predicted, offering our own modeling to better understand the disease. Clusters appear to be revealing themselves in Seattle, San Francisco, and Toronto, as new cases hit Florida and New York. We assess which areas are at highest risk based on the evidence.
