We all must decide to take a risk at something, whether that’s going to college, a new career path, forming new friendships or even a new relationship. Have you ever come across unfamiliar territory and didn’t know what to do? In most cases, people can sense when you're new to a position, lifestyle change, new area (state/city) and they offer you help and ask if there’s anything they can assist you with. Generally, people will take them up on the offer and learn how things work and get adjusted to their new environment or job role. But some people have a hard time accepting help because they feel like they’re lacking, incompetent, or an inconvenience to the person offering help. Today’s episode will focus on accepting help from others and how to be at peace with it.

As we get older, generally we become wiser and we let old things pass away and let new things in….but sometimes we revert to some old ways, thought processes, tastebuds, what we think are “relationship goals”, or what characteristics are crucial in relationships. For example, I never considered a skinny guy- not that I didn’t find them attractive but random thoughts would come up in my head—can he pick me up? Would I squish him? Would the proportion look weird? But now I’m like it’s whatever- swim at your own risk. I’m not worried about squishing anybody because this is what you asked for, you came into this knowing that I’m plush😂 Sometimes what we thought we wouldn’t  like or go for turns out to be what we need and or enjoy. So today we will be discussing things we used to hate that we no longer hate.

Have you been ready for a shift to happen in your life  but you don’t know what to expect?  Oftentimes, we imagine ourselves doing more but don't know where to start. We have to go through a “rebrand” period! That rebrand period is literally a change within a company--but in this case it’s a personal rebrand.  In order to become the best version of yourself, you have to go through a season of shifting your mindset, work ethics, and values.  But with all evolution and elevation, we experience loss. Loss of friends, relationships, jobs, bad habits, and ideas of what success is suppose to look like. Today we will be discussing how to position yourself for elevation and prosperity.

Closure is defined as something ending that you want peace from. Others may want to gain clarity and understanding. Closure is a good way to let go of what hindered you--old ex’s that kept you away from your future husband, habits that you need to let go of, jobs that no longer enhance your skill or has no potential for growth and advancement, or even dealing with the passing of a loved one. Closure is simply closing the door of one chapter and waiting for the other to start. In movies and plays, the term is intermission. Intermission is a pause, it builds anticipation for what’s to come and gets you to move around. Closure shifts you--shifts your mind to a new focus, you gather new ideas and perceptions, and get new footing. Today’s episode focuses on the process of closure and preparing for a new chapter!

Priorities is something that we all must have, it’s what drives us to do what we do and it becomes our main focus. A part of prioritizing is when you put things that matter first, like your goals or current plan. Not only does prioritizing happen in business, school, but also in relationships. When someone cares about you and loves you, they’ll put you first. They’ll make sure that time is set just for you two. So we will be discussing why having priorities are important and how it helps get you back to where you’re going whether professionally, academically, and socially.

Bougie, high maintenance, know it all are all words that we have heard when we talk about our ideal partner. Don't let people paint a negative picture of you just because you want and expect certain things out of life. As long as you hold yourself to similar standards that you expect.  And for that reason, this week we are talking about standards and the reasons why you should have some.  Ask and you shall receive!

I’m sure all of us have heard of this familiar scripture--Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue. What you speak out of your mouth is so powerful that it affects what will come and go. What you speak has the power to build or tear down your self-esteem, encourage you, and provide motivation. Whatever you ask for, you will receive based on you putting that claim into the atmosphere. You have to have the faith and the confidence to speak on what you don’t see yet. Just because you don’t see it, doesn’t mean that it won't happen. Today's topic is speaking things into existence--how to speak over yourself and trust that it will happen.

Have you ever been asked to take on a new project by your boss? Different thoughts, ideas, and questions will come up and it makes you ponder…..do I really want to do this? Sometimes you have to realize that it’s not in your best interest to take on new assignments at work. It can be a multitude of things that prevent you from getting the job done effectively such as build up of other work, not having the necessary training or skills, or not having enough time to get it done. Sometimes you have to say no to protect your peace and livelihood. It’s ok to say no! We know this is a sensitive topic, but that’s why we are here to drop some perspective on it.

This past year has been hard on all of us and it’s safe to say that some of the things that we’ve witnessed and experienced have been quite traumatic.

Last March, we were hit with COVID and things were shutting down. We literally went from seeing family and friends daily to not seeing them at all. We saw record breaking numbers of death due to the pandemic.

The nation has experienced police brutality at its highest peak with the deaths of George Floyd and Breonna taylor. Black and brown skin people are experiencing fear, anger, and sadness. So much so that you don’t want to watch the news or interact with people.

Traumatic experiences cause a wide range of issues such as physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual harm. This week’s topic is geared to us understanding the experience people go through once they experience a traumatic event.

This week we share our personal traumatic experiences walking you through  what we felt and how we processed the experience. Trust me when I say its a process to get back to your self once you experience a traumatic event.

“Have you ever unknowingly messed yourself up?” We are talking about doing things that hurt your chances or derail your goals. I think most of us can attest that we've hurt ourselves a few times by procrastinating, not putting in the effort to prepare for an exam, or taking short cuts. I am constantly jumping on the elevator instead of taking the stairs. Other people may self-medicate with alcohol or drugs, binge eat, or buy things they can’t afford. In the moment it may not seem like much, but overtime you’ll notice the damage you’ve done. There is one word for this behavior, self-sabotage. Self sabotage is when we prevent ourselves from reaching our goals or the best version of ourselves. So let's talk about it.

This week we are discussing things not going as planned. I know we all have those moments were we expect and prep for something. I mean I know I can point to so many moments of feeling upset or discouraged when things do not go our way or as planned... but really think back to some of those times that things didn't go according to plan, are you grateful, did you learn something from the situation, do you feel better off. I can definitely look back and see some of my moments where things didn't go as planned and I know they made room for bigger and better things for my future. Many times we get so upset about what's happening or changing in the present moment that we can’t see what is right in front of us or around the corner.

Trust me when I say, everyone has a story to tell. Our stories are the experiences we’ve encountered day in and day out and they make up who we are and how we perceive the world.

As you are well aware, not all stories have a fairy tale ending or a happily ever after. Many of us really struggle to let people in or even share our own stories, but I dare you to communicate and express yourself freely.

There is so much growth and evolution shown within stories, history is told within stories, faith is renewed through hearing stories, peace is given when you’ve told your truth, and healing is taking place when one tells their story.

This is all further discussed with this weeks topic as we speak with special guest @nigelmarcellus about the importance of telling our stories.

This week we sat down with Farah Green a Certified Exercise Nutrition Coach who intertwines Body Positivity, with nutrition and wellness. We talked about the idea and thoughts surrounding the body positive movement, shifting your mindset, relationship with food, and so much more. She truly did have us second guessing our own negative relationships and thoughts in our own health and wellness journey. We learned that having self-love is key to sustaining and achieving your goals and doesn't mean you don't want to work toward changing certain things about your body.

Quote for this week: "The real glow up happens when you focus on how you feel, not how you look. "
