Core mission: Transcend mediocre electronic music. 3 imprints: Orbis, Orbis X & Orbis LST
"The press part"
Standard records are often too mediocre. The average track has been wrongfully given to much attention in order to achieve maximum income per release. Since digital music has been more available than ever, standards have been low as never seen before.
Some tracks are brilliant and special, others aren't worth it. Not even to get a digital format. Many tracks have been wrongfully given to much attention & have been falsely setting the tone for the new good. Good is not good enough!
We truly believe that music should be treated honestly and no one should lower the bar. As a label, you should set an example. You should feel obligated to find the best mastering out there for your tracks. You should give honest feedback to new artists. You should define quality at the highest level possible.
We're extremely transparent in our communication in order to give you the most uncensored information about the other side of the music industry.
We aim to release the best we can get in our current time frame. We don't settle with good enough. We're here to make a difference and help other to do so in any way we possibly can.
We want to transcend mediocre electronic music. We will do so in any way we can and help other people as well, in any format or any product possible. We happen to start with hypnotic & stripped down electronic music. "The Orbis label"
Orbis Records is probably one of those underground deep techno labels Belgium never had until now. The label will provide dark, deep and stripped down hypnotic techno music as wide as the box can get.
'Thinking outside the box is our priority' is possibly the most used sentence when it comes to label descriptions but we have no limits. Our priority is bringing deep, hypnotic and stripped down techno music that will please the partygoer as well as the record collector.
"The Orbis X sublabel"
Orbis X is a sublabel of Orbis Records and will be mainly focusing on softer yet often usable as DJ material for the broader mass interested in Electronic music. This sublabel is an extension of Orbis Records’ softer, more melodical and experimental side. Music will be ranging from house, dub, chicago over melodic acid and even breaks. Not any track makes it to this sublabel if it can't stand on its own and stand the test of time!
"The Orbis LST sublabel"
more soon.
"The simple part"
We aren't just another fish in the sea, not 'some' label that will release every week a load of crappy tracks to get that monthly cashflow. Instead we're scheduling our releases every 3 to up to 6 months (or maybe even more) depending on the time to find or create music that fits our vision.
It all stands and falls with the quality and character of the music in a wide perspective. Innovation, sound and emotion are the main driving forces behind our passion.
Music & artwork will be our #1 priority in order to move and touch all you collectors and fans of the deep & stripped sound out there !

Give the guys some love. Shame of the needle skip around 34 min. Another record down the drain.

Deconstructing tracks tends to give ideas and inspiration about arrangements, sound colour & quality, mixing & blending, etc. What notice? What to look out for? What stands out? ...
In this first Orbis Deconstruct, a mention to the artist Waveguide with his "Quod" track on the Quod EP, hosted on the marvelous German label A.r.t.less. None of the tracks have been altered by EQ, Mastering or any other technique. Audio is recorded straight of the 1210 Technics turntable with a Rodec BX-7 mixer.
Honest, critical & constructive is highly appreciated. -- mau

Doug Cooney has cultivated his knowledge of techno over many years. Doug's passion for this craft runs deep and his DJ sets span the full spectrum of Techno, past and present. His style and attention to detail have earned him warm up sets for many of his Techno heroes, with Dave Clarke, UVB and Abstract Division being recent highlights. As well as being a Mutate resident, he also plays regular headline slots in Dublin’s biggest venues & has played several gigs abroad taking a trip to Berlin’s Arena club last year featuring on the same line up as Adam X & the Dystopian Record labels Jon Hester.
Doug is also the driving force behind Real//Sound Ireland an independent music school for aspiring producers and DJs in Dublin. Real//Sound provides workshops and showcases for those hoping to learn the craft of electronic music, within the laid back and straightforward environment Doug insists on with all he does.
Doug brings a similarly tireless ethos to his own productions, which blend classic analogue synthesis with contemporary digital sound design. His production has received support from Berghain Resident Answer Code Request & Ben Sims who has played several of Doug's tracks featuring them on his monthly ‘Run It Red’ mix Series. As well as producing records under his own name on labels Bastardo Eléctrico, research and RLSD Records, Doug is also part of the duo RSCH14, who released on Vision Collector records. More recently, Doug’s composition skills have been turned to scoring, and he was delighted to be commissioned by VICE and Vodafone to produce four tracks for "Don't Forget To Go Home”, a documentary which explored Berlin’s techno scene.
So… very pleased to welcome Doug to the Orbis Records.
If you’re looking for a good four tracker to keep in your bag for a very long time, allow it to be this one. Consistent throughout the EP. Great synthesis with a classic touch with an excellent balanced digital sound design. If you’re not planning on playing this on a big ass sound system just once,… just don’t!
“Alternative” offers none. As simply as that. Slick. Classic synthesis. Gently and balanced, yet interestingly very funky in its own way. Perfect filler and A-track to set the tone for this EP.
“Internal Drive“ is a kicker. Excellent thrive. Perfect floor filler with a touch of acidic bass lines
“Riflekt“ kicks of the B-side. Imagine an empty black space creeping up to you from behind. Dark. Groovy. Bleeps and Blips. Gentle throttling movements around you. Great atmosphere generator to shift any DJ-set to a higher gear and step it up a notch.
“Coming Home” sounds like a track to cruise home from an amazing night. You’d expect soft, gently, sweet minimalistic techno with a touch of melancholia. Guess what. Not for Doug. Sounds more like a good ol’skool closer to have a last stretch of all those zombies on the floor! Go home. Go hard.
We’re extremely humbled to have Doug Cooney as our guest on our 15th release! A milestone.

We warmly welcome the Dutch duo Dennis Pors & Stephan de Bruijn to OrbisX. New fresh talent, ready to conquer the world. We feel obliged to support these fine gentlemen to get their music spread across the globe.
Dennis & Stephan know each other through their musical perspectives. They share a similar taste for music, Detroit techno. Before they worked together, Dennis experimented with deep house through digital synths and learned the ins and outs of programming music in Logic. Stephan was well known with the detroit techno scene. His passion goes out to well balanced electronic music with hypnotizing emotional feeling to it. Add a layer of atmospheric grooves on top of that and you have the perfect blend to potential timeless music.
Soon enough they made the switch to analog gear to be able to create a cleaner and better sound. After three years of hard work, they have reached the sound they were looking for.
And this is it! Their debut on vinyl.
D&S servers a full EP called Thoughts EP. A great cocktail of dreamy and diverse electronic tunes. This EP fits well in the back of any DJ bag to warm up the place or fix the atmosphere on roof-top bar in NYC. Smooth cruising, roof down car music or background music on a spring night with a summery breeze … This EP is amazing and works best on a big sounds systems and major festivals!
“Childs play”, what’s in a name. Nothing like that melody. Creating a generously opening atmosphere, but actually brilliantly mixed creating the perception of simplicity. Groovy, acid touches and funky. Can’t keep still when being played. A-track for sure!
“Thoughts“ might have a dark feel to it but evolves in a very uplifting track in just a few moments, making it very bright and fun to play. Shed light to the place, should have been a great title as well, but thoughts is the best name for this track. The story in this track is definitely there to be told and listened to.
“Edge Of Insanity“ kicks of the B-side. Goosebumps, as from the start. Building up slowly to a very melodic and yet simply track, it’s the perfect translation for a sunrise at the beach. Potential Ibiza hit if you ask us.
“Submission” is a track straight out of a movie. Clever, nice build up, dreamy, spacey and above all so amazingly subtle. This is what falling in love should sound like.
We’re humble. We’re amazed. We’re honoured to host D&S. We hope this duo gets the attention they deserve with this EP. Full support for Dennis & Stephan.

Aleksander Zekovski might not ring a bell but it should ring a bell within a few months. We warmly welcome Moda on OrbisX with his very special and pure analog feel to sound. Unique, funky, very good arrangements and multi-talented. Nothing more, nothing less. Someone who deserves to be discovered or at least get a bigger audience.
We’re taking the leap of faith with Moda, serving him a full EP to experiment. The Roots EP was born. The full EP is a mixture of funky beats with some housy touches with, in some phases, gentle and experimental dirty glitches. Something to add to your collection. This EP can be played in quirky eclectic DJ sets, lounge bars or just at home with a nice glass of red wine. Background music while having dinner with friends and you want to serve something special? This is one of those special EP’s!
“Something To Talk About“ is funky, dreamy and sparks that twitchy leg movement when you doubt if you should be dancing or be slightly head banging to that tune. That kinda track. Serves well with candles, wine and late night talks.
“Under Her Skin“ might take off on a weird bit quirky dirty start, but when that lead kicks in, … we were sold. Extremely funky. Be aware: you can’t hold yourself from clapping to this song.
On the B-side, “Winter Tale“ counts as the second A track on the EP. Deep! Gentle and yet so snappy in it’s own dirty way. We fell in love from the first note, or should we say that filthy deep baseline, those dirty well mixed-in toms and snappy rude claps!
“Running Man”. Well… if you like dreamy catchy house. This is for you. A nice extra track, making this EP a brilliant pressing.
We can’t emphasize the talent Alexander has. We hope he gets more attention with this EP. Full support for you Alex.

In this show, Podcast #6 is hosted by Aem.Aze, Germany.
Lost in Music - grown up as a child of the 90's near Berlin, "aem.aze" was stamped by the influences of the east Berlin techno scene.
Radio shows like "Fritz Rave Satellite" or "Crazy Clubradio" (4-years E-Werk) and the Berlin club music of Tresor and Ostgut, gave him his first directions. Through all these influences he developed a truth passion for magnetic sounds.
He started with his first gig in 1998 in Marusha's Fritz Radio-Show "Rave-Satellite". This was followed by a 3-years residency in "K2" in Preschen. We can finally say that he played on more than 100 gigs like the Summer Spirit Festival and the Somewhere Festival in Copenhagen.
His music could be described as a warm and harmonic interaction between past, present and future. With his very own style he always creates special and individual sounds.
Through all his passion for music, he also found himself as a producer. He is a passionated collector of old synthesizer, drumcomputers and effect processors with which he finally keeps on working. He actually just had one release (on Cliqueria Music Copenhagen), but this was surely not the last one!
