Bit of a journey for me. Started with gospel influenced chords for a mellow 4 minute half time DnB tune, then after most of the production was done, I found the preacher. Oh my! I had to extend the tune, making it ideal for floating around, or getting Holy. Disclaimer.. I'm an atheist.
"Leary's Shamanic Departure [2024 Ape Edit]" - Talkin Ape, Glowin Potion, Wynch. (Ambient, Chilled, Electronic music) The tune features samples of Timothy Leary professing. A divisive character I know, but one who left a huge impact on those aware of him. I'm not one to worship him, but appreciate his efforts as a pioneer in the realm of psychedelics and exploring consciousness. He started many conversations that are still going all these years later. He's long gone, but sure did have a Shamanic Departure.The original was made in 2017 by myself, my wife (Wynch), and pal Tom (Glowin Potion). We composed/played various parts and I did the arrangement and production. It lacked a bit of polish, and needed a few minor edits, so got all that done and here we are... enjoy!
A slab of 303 tinged Dystopic Drum & Bass mayhem. I nearly didn't make it back.“Thinking Is Punishable” a dark piece of raucous Drum and Bass, themed on the oppression, propaganda, etc of George Orwell’s - 1984, and the parallels we face in reality. The Backrooms are a metaphor for my feelings of having no power to change what is outside of our own minds, and the ever increasing attempts of the outside to change what’s inside our minds.
2024 VIP of a tune of mine from 2018. Part of the 'Ape In Space' album (in progress). Inspired by Oumuamua. Was it natural, or constructed? We'll never know, but it's fun to imagine the possibilities. This interstellar interloper appears to be a rocky, cigar-shaped object with a somewhat reddish hue. The object was named 'Oumuamua by its discoverers. It means "a messenger from afar arriving first" in Hawaiian.
Raucous meets ambient. The dark and the light, the cold slap and the warm hug. Inspired by the warning and the life existing on Europa in the '2001 Space Odyssey' series of novels by Arthur C Clark.
Kinda slightly Latin flavoured Drum & Bass with horns and plenty of drum wallah. It goes harder than my usual but did I say... it has horns!
After 'borrowing' the United Earth a long range federal research vessel. Chief engineer Jolene Archer strikes out alone honing in on the source of a scrambled distress call. Approaching Saturns rings, signal strength becoming ever stronger, less scrambled, a darkly perplexing familiarity flooded her senses. As she attempts to turn back, a power way in excess of Saturn's gravity takes hold of the ship, systems glitching and shutting down, engines, thrusters, dead. “Keep it together! You know this ship from grommet to gravity generator, just focus!” Scrambling to reboot and recalibrate, her heart sinks. Accompanied by a high pitched whine, the very words of that distress call nervously stutter from her mouth as her vision vignettes to black. 19 hours pass, a mining freighter approaching earth picks up the rescue beacon from an EVA suit in low earth orbit. The still unconscious Jolene was taken aboard and put in stasis until back on terra firma.It is unknown how she got into the EVA suit or returned to earth orbit. The United Earth has not been found.Part of the Ape in Space Album.
150 BPM Techno chugger, with a krafty breakbeat fitted to each nacelle. This should re-enable full impulse speed on any vessel fitted with level 3 plasma injectors. Do not use while in spacedock, you are not Kirk.
A trip into the past, full of the kind of things that first got me addicted to beats, bass, and having a boogie. Needs mastering and final mix.
