Now that Steven Spielberg is directing it will be an adaption worth checking out. He is one of the best filmmakers ever and already cast all the Latino roles with Latino actors. Most recently, he cast Rachel Zegler, a Colombian American seventeen year old highschool student to play Maria. She played Maria at her high school but her talent and determination landed her the role for the Spielberg movie. She was chosen from 30,000 applicants after responding to a casting call for Latino and Latina actors in January 2018.

I sought this story out because I wanted to know more about the life and death of Kevin Fret. Kevin Fret is the 1st openly gay Puerto Rican Trap Rapper. He was shot 8 times in broad daylight as he rode his motorcycle in San Juan. There are Youtube Videos from security cameras in Puerto Rico that show people being shot in public during the day. This subject is sad but as individuals we can come together as a collective to change the current state fear to love and inclusion.
