A Podcast for the Staff. Working on a church staff requires a multitude of skills. Join Nathan Auxer and Thomas Nunnery as they interview guests to explore what it takes to thrive working under a pastor. Discover the resources and tools you need, and glean the wisdom from those that are doing what you do. If you are familiar with switching from Music Minister, to Youth Director, to Graphic Designer, to Carpenter, to Bus Captain, and everything in between, then this podcast is for you.
Sometimes following Jesus takes us in unexpected directions. Nathan is going through just such a transition in his life and ministry. Even just a few months ago these changes were not on his horizon. We hope the journey God is guiding him on can be a help to others.

Ephesians 5:15-17 says: "15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, 16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is."
Thomas shares some encouragement from his study in Ephesians. In wicked times it is imperative that God's people live carefully in the wisdom that comes from above.

We know we should be reaching the lost, after all Jesus was known as the friend of sinners, but let's face it, most of the people we know are probably already saved. Today's discussion will dive into this issue and hopefully give us a few ideas on how we can make some friendships with lost people and leverage them for the Gospel.

Dave Hardy joins us to talk about worship. Bro. Hardy defines worship as “Worship is the voluntary humbling of one person, physically and spiritually, in order to exalt another.”
Many churches have a worship service at 11 am on Sunday morning. But going by the definition of the word, perhaps not much worship is actually happening.
Bro. Hardy talks to us about how to incorporate worship into the church service and, even more foundational, into our personal lives.

As flawed humans working with other flawed humans, we are going to experience frustrations, stress, and disappointment. Sometimes it seems like our pastor and boss are the root cause behind the frustrations. In this episode, Nathan and Thomas try to tackle this issue by reminding us that your pastor is not the enemy, Jesus knows right where He called you, and that times of stress are only seasons.

It is easy for ministry leaders to define success by some numerical metric or the response to a sermon instead of by our faithfulness to the call of God on our lives. Episode 24 Pt. 1 - Jude Buffington joins us on the first part helping us to decide what we need when looking for a new mixing console.
Jude starts by encouraging us to define the need. What mixer you bring home will likely depend on many factors including the style of your church services. When you look closely at what you need you might find that a soundboard is not the priority. Instead, you might do better to invest in training, mics, or a host of other options.
Jude goes on to talk about analyzing the options. You decided you need a mixer, your budget should not be the first thing to consider. Instead, look at the options and find what your church needs. Need a more familiar, linear, analog mixer? Or the digital with all of its menus and presets? Are you using it to live stream?
Jude shares a few of his favorite brands to use. These include Shure, Electro-Voice, Allen & Heath, and Soundcraft.
Finally, Jude shares a concern that he has with church leaders upgrading technology in order to get struggling sound techs to quit. He makes the claim that church leaders should confront issues with grace and Christian love and that techs should accept direction with grace and humility. We are all on the same team, trying to accomplish the same goals.
