We’re living a cycle. We wake up, get through the day, sleep and repeat. Most of us crave connection through cellphone screens, live in self-doubt, and question our purpose. We’re caught up chasing things that are temporary and holding on to limitations others have set for us. But here’s the thing — it doesn’t have to be this way. On this podcast, we bring you stories from people who broke the pattern and brought their authentic selves for the world to see. Join us every week for discussions ranging from health and mindset development, to business and politics, and more.
It’s been a little over a year since we all ended up working from our homes and while I do prefer the ability to be able to do more things in my day thanks to a drop in commute time, the increasing work demands presented a different kind of challenge. Of course, there are several reports of people facing burnout, mental health challenges, and straight up quitting jobs to take much needed breaks from professional life. A word many of us have been seeing lately is, resilience. Resilient people, resilient economies, resilient businesses. But how do you become resilient at a time which none of us could ever imagine being prepared for? That a question, Samir is going to help me with. Samir Macwana is a certified Business Continuity Management professional and coach and has been helping companies and teams become resilient in the face of overwhelming odds today. This episode is super actionable and goes straight to point so we hope you use the information here for yourself.

I have been obsessed with the topic of Health and Wellness for the better part of a decade and it is only over the past 2-3 years where I have begun to finally understand that there is more to this than just physical fitness and proper nutrition.
We are moving towards a new paradigm where we are focusing on all the possible means available to us to live healthier, happier, and longer lives - physically, mentally, socially, spiritually, and environmentally. The trouble is, we have so much information around that it is hard to figure out what works and what needs to be discarded immediately.
So I reached out to Dr. Marcus Ranney to help me understand this vast subject.
Dr. Marcus Ranney's career journey over the past two decades have led him from the patient's bedside to a wider stage as he now creates global impact via systemic change by championing wellbeing.
Completing his Bachelors of Science and Medical degrees from University College Medical School in London his passion for extreme physiology has allowed him to conduct field research across the planet.
A published best selling author, keynote speaker, digital talk show host and public health commentator, he has been a World Economic Forum’s Global Shaper and more recently appointed as a Senior Fellow to the Atlantic Council, working on a project exploring the relationship between the climate crisis and planetary health. A champion of wellbeing, Marcus is a big believer that sustainably improving the lives of billions of people the world over can only be brought about by enhancing the positive aspects of health rather than focusing solely on pathogenesis and disease.
I hope you enjoy the episode.

Those who know me and know this channel, are familiar with my love for martial arts. I have been training for the past 10 years and during this period, I have exposed myself to various systems. I have also witness debates about what martial arts represent and unfortunately, the true essence of martial arts, which is beyond (but does include) fighting is rarely discussed. So I decided to speak to the man who is the source of my knowledge - Shifu Kanishka Sharma.
Most of you know him as the first Indian to be trained at and authorized officially as a representative of the Shaolin Temple in India as well as the official mentor of the Special Forces in India. He is also the official representative of Progressive Fighting Systems and Contemporary Jeet Kune Do under Sifu Paul Vunak.
He has trained and mastered 14 different martial art systems, including but not limited to, Shaolin Kung Fu (and Sanshou), Wing Chun, Muay Thai, Jeet Kune Do (Under Sifu Sitta Wang as well as Sifu Vunak), Muay Chaiya, Pekiti Tirsia Kali, Balintawak and Tai Chi.
I speak to him about what the purpose of martial arts truly is, the perception that Shaolin monks (and traditional martial artists) can't fight, and why no one really talks about the healing aspect of martial arts.

This is an episode for me! Why? Because I love the learning that a meandering conversation can bring. There is a certain level of curiosity one needs to find the nuggets of learning in most inane conversations and believe me, the lesson is always worth it. But I wasn't always like this. Thankfully, I had Adarsh to whip my ass in shape over every single phone call we had. Adarsh Nalam is a communication consultant and corporate ghostwriter by profession and (as much as he would hate me for saying this), one of the greatest 'thinking-doers' I know of. This is a conversation that touches various subjects but the underlying theme is simply this - here's two men bonding over things they are curious about.

The statement, "I'll sleep when I'm dead" may very well be the reason you die early. Sleep is essential for optimal health. In fact, it's a non-negotiable. But not all sleep is equal. A number of factors need to be taken into consideration when we're talking about optimal sleep. So I brought in Aprameya Rajput to help me understand how to sleep better. Aprameya is India's first BRPT certified clinical sleep health expert. He has has more than 7 years experience in patient counseling for those requiring support in managing sleep disorders such as Sleep Apnea, Insomnia, Circadian Rhythm Disorders among others.

It has been a while since I did this. I took a break to deal with some personal issues and now, we're back. And who better to get back to this with than Ashdin Doctor? Ashdin Doctor is a Habit Coach. He believes that awesome lives start with awesome habits.
Five years ago Ashdin was unhealthy, overworked, stressed and sleep-deprived. Till it caught up with him and he found himself collapsing on the floor in a puddle of sweat unable to move.
It’s then that he realised that his life needed to change. In this pursuit, he informally studied various perspectives on health, nutrition, fitness, exercise, anatomy, nervous system, habits, motivation, lifestyles, meditation and sleep.
He partnered with thought leaders, doctors, experts in various fields related to lifestyles and health. Having changed his life around, he began sharing these learnings with others.
Hence he started his habit coaching business called Awesome180 (Www.Awesome180.com). The awesome180 program focuses on building one’s foundation – sleep quality (not quantity), nutrition (not diet), movement (not exercise), de-stressing, hydration and breathing. These form the foundation of creating Awesome Lives.
He hosts The Habit Coach Podcast (https://ivmpodcasts.com/the-habit-coach) which regularly features in the top 8 health and wellness podcasts in India. With 185,000 downloads each month.
Following the success of the podcast, he launched a Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZQpxuIf7moTOU8kCAu0Zfg)

There are very few times that you end up meeting someone who has been relentless in her pursuit to rebuild herself and yet be so humble.
I met Navjot in 2012. We worked together for a few months and I moved on to a different path in my life.
And while we barely spoke, we stayed connected on social media and I saw her transform into the force that she is today.
Navjot, like me, believes that true health and fitness is not limited to the physical realm or the mental realm. It is a complete process that requires you to look into your physical, mental, and emotional states and work on them with the intention of loving every bit of yourself.
In this episode, we catch up and dive into Navjot's world as an entrepreneur, a fitness trainer, and her take on the wellness industry as we know it.
You can reach out to Navjot on her website (https://classicurve.com/) and on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/classicurvefitness/)

There are very few times that I get to meet a person who I could call a mirror of who and what I am.
I've been looking into a number of healing practices but the one I would call my personal go-to modality, would be movement. As a martial artist, movement is essential to my practice, but movement is not restricted to martial arts. In fact, movement is what all of us have been doing since the day we were born. Movement is expressive, it's healing, it's expansive, freeing, playful and so much more.
And this philosophy is lived and represented by my guest, Sahil Raina. Sahil practices movement and breathwork and shamanic practices to help people express themselves and heal from the various emotional blocks they may be carrying. In this episode, Sahil and I discuss his story, his wisdom, and his medicine.

Kindness and empathy are two of the most important things we need in the world right now. And seeing someone so driven to bring these two qualities back in our lives, made me want to learn from and about them.
Maria Kassova is a a motivational speaker, facilitator, and executive coach and has dedicated her life to bringing Kindness and Empathy into people's lives, especially the workplace. In this episode, Maria and I try and decode what these words truly mean and why it is increasingly important to inculcate these qualities.

Competing in martial arts can be grueling. Running a martial arts academy in India, even more so. Team Relentless is one of the top MMA teams in the country, producing champions across the sports of Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and MMA, not just in India, but at the international stage as well. And the man leading the charge is Jitendra Khare - Head Coach & Manager of Team Relentless and the founder of Evolution Fitness and Combat Sports Academy in Mumbai.
Having met and trained with him and his team a couple of times, I can tell why they get that name. A mix of traditional martial arts discipline and the modern competitor mindset, Jitendra Khare is the very definition of the word Relentless.
In this episode, we dive into his beginnings, his mindset, the culture he has built among his team and how he has applied his training as a way of life - mentally and physically.

I've been working in the communications industry since 2012 and in that time, I've loved it, hated it, questioned it, avoided it, gotten back to it, loved it some more and questioned it again. And this time, I decided to ask the man who has shaped the lives of many professionals like myself when it comes to strategic communications. Frank J. Oswald is a communications strategist and writer who has worked with the likes of Yahoo and Accenture, to name a few. Frank is also a lecturer at the prestigious Columbia University where he teaches 'Principles in Persuasion and Ethical Decision Making for Communicators'.
We dive deep into ethical and unethical practices that exist in the communications industry and how do we practice persuasion through the lens of ethics.

I have had a love/hate relationship with the communications industry for about 8 years now. I have questioned it, expressed my disdain, realized what it has given me in terms of learning and opportunities, fallen in love with it, questioned it again....you get the idea.
So I decided to find my why by talking to a man who has helped me navigate this relationship with my profession. Tushar Bajaj is a Senior Vice President at one of the largest PR firms in the country and also, my boss and someone I'm grateful to have a guide whenever I need some help.

I look at combat sports, tactical combat systems, and traditional martial arts as ONE PART of a larger whole. And I have been lucky enough to be trained by a man who has explored the arts in pursuit of truth.
But martial arts has been riddled with politics, whataboutery, chest-thumping, and a whole lot of bullshit. So I decided to speak to a man who is on a mission to keep martial arts and martial artists HONEST. Paulo Rubio started two of the top martial arts exploration channels on Youtube called Funker Tactical (https://www.youtube.com/user/FunkerTactical) and Aperture Fight Focused (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiIVDn5bUGZUJc_15qJPjUw) and has held discussions that I feel are extremely important for the martial arts world.

Healing looks different for everyone. For a lot of us, healing is a physical experience. For others, it is mental. But there are many who would look at healing from a spiritual lens. I was quite the cynic when it came to esoteric practices until a very dear friend said, "absence of evidence, is not evidence of absence". And my meeting with Jas was all about that statement. Jaspreet Bhatia is an NLP practitioner, a corporate psychologist, and trainer, but that's not the fun part. She's also a Shamanism practitioner and Akashic Record reader who has spent her time healing others. And that is what we are going to talk about.

We're experiencing an unprecedented time. There are several reports that people are working a lot more, now that they are working from home. This is started to take a toll on us and that is why it is important to establish and enforce boundaries with our clients and our colleagues.
And Divya is here to talk about just that. Divya Khanna is the AVP for Strategy and Insights at one of the top Communications Agencies in the country. She's been working in the industry for 12 years now and has experienced how your work environment can affect your health if you don't set appropriate personal and professional boundaries.

It's hard for me to describe Ayesha Mahanti. She's an author who doesn't identify as one anymore. She's a practitioner of Tarot reading, also something she doesn't identify with. But here are a few things that she does identify with - she's an eternal believer of love, a seeker of truth, and someone who has sat with her discomfort long enough to find out that it is the first step to healing.
In this episode, Ayesha and I discuss how true happiness lies in the work - the work being the journey to peel off old conditioning, limiting beliefs, and behaviors. The work is expanding your understanding of concepts like happiness, truth, and love. The work is breaking your cycle.

Aashish Mehrotra is the Chief Video Officer at a communications firm who has worked on some stellar campaigns for top brands in the country. But that's NOT the important part. What is important? His truth. Aashish is someone who unabashedly lives his truth. In this episode, Aadhar and Aashish discuss relationships, specifically polyamory; bisexuality; how he's been using his platform to normalize conversations around both subjects; how he takes his life advice from his dog, Lucifer, and how you should make the conscious effort to "not be an asshole".

Rahul Kaul is the founder of the popular fitness boxing/kickboxing studio, Boxfit. A former financial analyst (or is he?)in South America, Rahul fell in love with the sweet science of Boxing. He decided to leave his high-paying 'secure' job (in the traditional sense) and go all in to set up Boxfit, leaving the safety net that most of us hang on to when setting up a business.
Aadhar and Rahul go over his journey, how Boxfit came to be, his view on fitness and how he helps his clients become a better version of themselves.

Persistence - "the fact of continuing in an opinion or course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition"
Persistence is a quality I have always desired and to a great degree, had. But persistence has levels. And Rajneesh, my guest today, has demonstrated this quality at some of the highest levels imaginable. Rajneesh Raveendran is a renowned Boxing coach in the Delhi/NCR region. He is the co-founder of Knox Studio in Delhi and has coached some phenomenal fighters. He was due to turn professional after a stellar amateur career until an injury due to head trauma ended his combat career. But that hasn't stopped him from forging fighters who have gone on to build strong combat records. He has also trained me both mentally and physically and I am grateful to call him my coach, my friend, and a brother.
Rajneesh and I discuss his career, the importance of mindset, how to persist in the face of adversity and much more.

Sustainability has been a huge topic of discussion over the past few years and I have to admit, I don't know nearly enough to support this cause. Sustainability is affects us across fields - Food production, Industry, Power generation and fashion. And it starts with consumption. It is our consumption levels that need to be looked at critically in order for us to sustain the planet. And I know nothing about that either. But my friend and former colleague, Zoya Wahi, does.
Zoya is the founder of Aslee - a brand that makes ethically produced and responsibly sourced apparel, accessories and fabrics for everyday wear. Their small collections are made from sustainable materials such as Bamboo, Hemp and Nettle.
You can find more about them at https://aslee.in/ and you can reach out to Zoya at https://www.instagram.com/khoya_raahi/
I hope you enjoy the conversation.

"Who am I? What is my identity? Am I limited to one identity?" - These are questions I sat with for the better part of 4 years. It's the quest to find these answers that led me to meet my dear friend, and guest, Vijayraj Singh. We sat down to discuss identity, share our experiences, and set the context for what Break The Cycle is and more importantly, why it exists.
Welcome to Break The Cycle. We hope you enjoy the ride.
