Katherine Godby describes to host Cherry Langford her awakening and the importance of a spiritual grounding for social justice work. Both Katherine and Cherry had profound awakening experiences in reading of Robin D'Angelo's "White Fragility."  Objectively, the information wasn't new, but they understood it now in a different way--subjectively, which allowed a true transformation. Katherine and Cherry know that as allies, education, listening and repentance are key.  They hope this interview conveys their awareness that they speak from a privileged platform and that perpetual repentance is the appropriate stance for white allies working for racial justice. Their conversation ranges from the actions they are taking,  to the spiritual transformation they've both experienced.

Cherry Langford, co-founder of ‘Journey In, Journey Out,’ describes her spiritual practices during this pandemic in this episode. Here’s a quote Cherry’s loving these days: “It hardly matters what day it is anymore since the future is so unclear. I sit quietly and open my heart and mind for the unexpected. My prayers of the heart are “humility through mystery” and “peace through acceptance.” —C.Thorman, Contemplation and Action community
