Hello BNB'ers,

It's been a bit! My world is a little crazy at the moment, but I have a set for you.

Last month I was back in Las Vegas for a few weeks for both lovely and tragic reasons. I was there for a memorial for my good friend out there that mysteriously passed away, which was strangely next to my expo debut at W3BX 2022 at The Wynn for Loveless City a week later. My head was an unstable maelstrom of joyous achievement and such devastating loss at the same time.

Thats the thing about living and coming back to Las Vegas. It's a city of great rewards and devastating blows with no middle ground, and either you roll with the punches or you get punched out. It's a no nonsense city that thrives on nonsense at it's finest.... and that weird catch 22 is a great part of it's charm. Even better, underneath all that grueling grit of glamour and glitz, you'll find the most amazing diamonds in rough built/transfered here. It's these people who have become my family over the past decade that truly make this city magical.

When I first moved there.. the one thing that helped me with the turbulence of that topsy turvy city, was driving out into the middle of nowhere and losing myself while working on a setlist for this show. For years this show was built on long road trips with my white eyed blind mystic feral chihuahua in the passenger seat.... and being back there in a car... driving through those strange roads again... awakened a whole part of me back to the show.

This episode contains the first portion of the music played out in Las Vegas while I was out there. This ranges ALL OVER the place (chill out, electro, slow disco, etc)

In the tradition since even before The Beautiful Noise Broadcast, there was 'Red Heart Holiday', the annual Valentines day sampler that happened around 1998 - 2002 out in Atlanta, Philadelphia, and San Francisco. I'm bringing it back, with a fantastic track from Bent (SO glad to see music from them). This set itself is shimmery and upbeat, kind of like the old sets back in Seattle. A LOT of these tracks were playing last year, when I first fell REALLY hard for my best friend, and when I found out the feelings were mutual I WAS A overwhelmed wreck (hmm.. I should have called this "I'm a fucking mess when I'm in love"

What an absolutely bizarre year this turned out to be. 2021 was filled with such unexpected turns through wonder and chaos, that even at the end of its rocket tail, i'm still spiraling to determine its trajectory.

I found a track that I, for the life of me, cannot stop playing. In fact, I was trying to get this up by my birthday a few weeks ago, but just postponed it until I could find the PERFECT tracks to accompany it. Much like the first time I heard Dr. Atomic's "Schudelfloss" when I was teenager, The MFA's "The Difference it Makes" in my 20's, or hearing Lusine's "Gravity in my 30's, it just.. BLOWS my mind and heart away. Filled with shimmering warm vocals echoing over a romantically blurry house beat, Monki's "Queen of Hearts" is the ultimate track to fall in love to. 2021 has been such a great year of discoveries, and even more so for the beginning of my 44th year.

I'm on a nostalgic kick this week, and bringing back a whole cluster of classics and modern remixes of progressive electric from the 90's... and MAAAAN is it bringing me back to those lovely and chaotic days of my teenage 90's in Atlanta.

One of my favorite tracks of all time was Dr. Atomic's "Schudelfloss" which I found on a Guerilla Records sampler called "Dub House Disco". I still think to this day, it is one of the most swoon like tracks from that era.

Crazily enough I found a new remix of this song... and then kicked back to all those other sounds from Guerilla and beyond.. so this set is .. one of my favorites from the Halcyon sets, by far. I hope you enjoy!

Side Note: Before the days of digital cameras, the only thing you could do for instant image gratification that was clear (sorry Polaroids!) were photo booth pics. I have unearthed an ungodly amount of them from my raver days... and welp.. .. I decided to put them to use. The photo above is from.. 94? Maybe? I was ridiculous.

I'm back in the outskirts of Atlanta for a month. This set, "Night Drive" couldn't have been more perfect, as the roads that I'm traveling out here are the same ones I did when I was fillllllled with teenage angst and heart throbby feelings that often spilled out into the weird southern roads and late night drives.

Last time I did this set, I believe it was ... in 2011 when I lived out in Los Angeles? Thats absolutely bonkers.

This set starts out into the more intense side of things (i call them 'battlestar dramatica' tracks), but slowly mellows out into warm romantic vibes.

Hey ya'll,

This week is Chillwave and Bedroom Electro is back with the 2nd edition of Swoon and Halo (FKA: "Beautiful" and "Gorgeous" sets). I was just going over listening to the set while creating the artwork, and I totally got sucked into that weird blurry music headspace and lost all track of time and what I was doing... which means.. uh... interesting art choice and its a good set!

You have to check out Classy Mongrel (the opening track) on this set. I'm ABSOLUTELY floored and madly in love with this guy's music. It's been a while since I've really been knocked off my feet by an artist... and Classy Mongrel is possibly my favorite find in quite some time.

Electrolust.FM is getting a brand new name after 12 years on the show. This session started out as EP 81 in the Castro District in San Francisco around March of 2008... and now out here in Chicago in 2020.. it's changing to "Midnight Electric", which will encompass the same lovely bedroom electro tracks you've been accustomed to listening to .. I'm working on a few new sets for LovelessFM, which has kind of caused my head to go into OCD on where and what these entail. I think I've got my head sorted now (i think).

I've been finding these really great gems lately, and I always love when they kind of come together finally for the 'sessions' series.. because it's a hodge podge of different dance genres packed all into one. Lately I've been finding a resurgence of breakbeat (where am I? Orlando?!) thats mixed in with various genres of house AAANNNDD a bit of progressive dance. Does it make sense? Probably not. Is it beautiful? ABSOLUTELY. It's about 1.5 hours long (because I couldn't .. or.. wouldn't cut anything out)

It's been a bit since I've done one of the 'Tearjerker" sessions, which is a bit surprising since the state of our affairs. I attempted this other version "Love Sex and Despair" back in 2015 when I lived off of Kenmore Ave in Edgewater Chicago. Welp. It's back! While "Tearjerker" focuses on that low lull of a melancholy lullaby... Music for LSD is the .. far more suited for your own soap opera as it hones on that 'Hot Music For Cheap Hotels' vibe with a bit of desperation and drama in the mix.

I successfully moved from Lakeview to Uptown yesterday. My garden apartment is this roaring sea of boxes that I keep on tripping over while trying to figure out where this 'whatcha-ma-call-it' goes with this 'thingy mc doo hickey'. In the meantime I'm really digging my new neighbors and loving the area.

I'm glad to be bringing a trip hop//acid jazz set onto the mix this week. Much like the session in Jinan last year, this curves around to the jazzy downtempo side of things. Enjoy lovers.

Welp! Another year, and another move. I'm still staying in Chicago, the city I love the most! Ah. NOW THIS IS GLITCH.

We are back to normal.

It's been a while that I could get my footing back into spinning a IDM dedicated set.. which is odd because Glitch-a-Rama was one of the founding shows of the BNB/Loveless.FM since 2006. BUT, now that I'm here off/on in Atlanta... all of it makes sense.

The one thing I love about electronic music, is the socio-geographical creation of various genres that permeated in the analog-digital evolution of noise. Being an analog baby immersed in the halcyon of an early electronic world, I watched cities begin to create, foster, and harbor certain sounds. In the US, Chicago had house, Detroit had techno, Florida had breakbeat, etc. etc.

When it came to my hometown of Atlanta, it was jungle.. and THEN suddenly it was IDM. You wouldn't think that a major city in the south would be a hub for such a weird sound.. but Atlanta in general, despite its pristine clean scenery was weird, experimental, and completely bizarre.

The sound of my Atlantan youth was not spent on languid lullabies kissing a steady rhythm. It was spent on hiccups tripping over a discordant crunchy beat. It was crafted into my brain every time I turned on 88.5 WRAS while driving from one place in the city to the next.

Once I left Atlanta, my tastes in EDM would gradually change (whether I liked it or not) towards that particular city's musical stronghold... and so this show.. kind of makes sense. .. because it changes style and adapts around wherever I'm living.

While driving around Atlanta last night I turned on the radio, and and heard those lovely harsh static laced sounds that I missed so much. Immediately I returned home to put this set together, and here we are!

Welcome back Glitch-a-Rama. This set, much like IDM in general, is incredibly polarizing (as I've found people either LOVE or vehemently LOATHE this music. Last Glitch-a-Rama was a dedication to my friend Eugene who liked this particular show.. and while I love the set.. it.. was well more in the 'roadtrips/headtrips' category.

So .. he gets another set :)

A few weeks ago I landed in Atlanta, and headed up towards Marietta to facilitate home hospice care for my father, who after a long battle with cancer, has finally started the process of getting to the other side. It seems strange to me, that it was only a year ago that my sister too, would be gone from my family too.

Marietta, despite its pristine gleam and shine, has always carried with me, a bit of sadness.... and these streets that I drive on, .. well these were the streets that started my late night drives into the middle of nowhere to clear my head. These dark winding southern roads were the beginnings of where I fell in love with music.. because I spent MANY MANY years driving around them and compiling playlists to aid my nonsensical journey to nowhere.

Aiding my father is complicated, but the process itself is pretty easy once you get the hang of things. .. however whenever I have a free moment, I will drive for a bit, while playing the music that my head wants. .. and with that comes this set.

Much like "Elevator Up" which was about my sister... this one, entitled "Elevator Roads" is about my father, .. and the endless roads I drive around to help me get through the present, and help me close out the past.

Hey there! I'm back out in Georgia for a bit where things are kind of coming to a head here. 9 Years ago when I was just starting on the 11th session of Sleepyhead Radio out in Los Angeles I was wondering where I'd be when getting to the 20th retrospective. .. and I certainly didn't think it would be here.

It's been a chaotic week filled with social unrest, heartache over the state of our government, hospital visits with a crazy reaction to anesthesia (fun!), and my father's quickening towards the end of his time here on this planet.

Being that I'm an extroverted introvert with a VERY short social battery life, this quarantine really hasn't gotten to me yet... but man.. lately.. with everything else it's hard not to feel .. a bit lost.

Out of the blue yesterday my brother Tor reached out to me to say hello. When I lived in San Francisco, he was my partner in crime, my brother to relate to in the most chaotic times. shoulder to cry on, a person to make INSANE decisions with... and once when I was in drag performing Laura Branigan's self control at The Stud.. he ... was my pimp.

When we talked, it felt like all those memories came flooding back, and I didn't feel so alone. He is such a wonderful human being.

Today I decided to resurrect the "Homage/Dedications" sessions, which in the beginning of the BNB.. were like the CORNERSTONE to this show. It's been FIVE years since I've done one, and ... well ... I'm overdue.

This is for you Tor. I hope you dance your pants off to this.

I HIT EPISODE 500th EPISODE! I am over the moon that The Beautiful Noise Broadcast, Gorgeous Sound Underground, and LovelessFM made it this far.

Back in 2006 I had just moved from San Francisco out to a weird apartment off of 25th and Madison... and while fighting the ceiling from caving in from all the rain and desperately looking for a job, I passed the time by starting this show. It was only going to be maybe 30 shows but I immediately became addicted.

Still keeping the tradition of long anniversary shows + these quarantine rules from COVID.. I've upped the storage space this month and will continue to broadcast giant sets.

This set falls into a lot of those lovely 'roadtrips headtrips // interstate" sessions... From walking alone in the wet metropolitan wilderness of Seattle, riding the BART from SF to the East Bay, driving through the late night marine layer of Echo Park to home in East Hollywood, driving into the outskirts of the Mojave from my time in Las Vegas, to dj'ing out here in the urban jungle of Chicago.. all of these tracks are very dear to me.

I know this week has been unbelievably stressful for a lot of us dealing with social distancing and feeling trapped in our residences with the quarantine. From December, working out in China, till now.. I've been a a little manic. .. and I know we all feel a little unstable and hurt right now. ..

So with the quarantine in place, I decided to scrap and start over what I want to play this week. Since I've converted my space into a little afterhours lounge for myself + 0, I'm bringing back the ever lovely downtempo set of CHILL PILL. It's been a few months that I've been back home in Chicago, and I cannot tell you enough, despite all that is happening, how grateful I am to be here. This is a hectic city, filled with the most unpredictable and unloving weather in a tightly packed sardine can of a midwest metropolis. While I will always love my times in Shanghai and NYC... nothing .. and I mean NOTHING.. compares to falling in love with a city like Chicago, especially with your own ambient soundtrack on the "El" and beyond.

It's been EXACTLY 10 years that I've done a Disco Andromeda set. It's long overdue! While sets like "Los Angeles Electric" and "Neon Noir" can mix inbetween nu-disco and inspirations of disco.. this set is ALL about mixing those great classics in with the new.

This set features some lovely new disco tracks by Róisin Murphy and remixes by Yuksek and DJ Koze. This also contains a few great classic Hindi Disco, French Disco, and Taiwanese Psychedelic Funk Disco that I'll think you'll love. The beginning of my formative years were out in the mid 1990's out in the southern urban landscape of Atlanta, Georgia. Much like all our formative years, there was ALWAYS a soundtrack playing in my ears during it all.

I had run away as a kid from my home when I was a teenager, and navigating the world back then, while unsafe, brought a sense of romantic wonder in all the danger back then. I was definitely a rebellious weirdo who was absolutely madly in love with chaos.

I eventually ended up going to an alternative school in downtown Atlanta called "Horizons" which laid on DeKalb avenue in between the artistic folk art district of Little 5 Points/Inman Park and the chaotic Reynoldstown. My ventures to high school was on the MARTA train, and EVERY week I'd create a mixtape of what I was going to be listening to while riding it through the early morning darkness to the sunrise of my WEIRD WEIRD high school that I loved so much.

I loved Techno back then, but really was focused on those lovelorn electronic sounds that just would make my heart skip a beat. In particular, this song (track no. 2) "We Came from Outerspace" from the Pet Shop Boys (which were the QUEEEREST thing to listen to back then).. I remember getting this track ready at the big 5 PTS interchange station to transfer from my southbound train to eastbound EVERY day. .. so when the wind would rush past me, the music would just hit 'perfectly'... and the romantic crooning of Neil Tennant combined with the lyrics "Do you know the difference between two genders? We came from outer space" would play.

It was in these moments, that music meant the most to my weirdo brain, and where the budding of that feeling.... that feeling of electric ecstasy blossoming into a thousand lightning infused butterflies in my stomach. .. would happen.

After all these years those feelings haven't gone, and I'm glad this little show is around to show that. This set is a mix of both old and new retromodernized soft techno for your lovely ears. I hope you enjoy loves.

Happy Valentines Day everyone. Bringing back the tradition of Red Heart Holiday and my last sessions purely focusing on Kate Bush, this whole set is a slue of lovely remixes of my all time favorite band "The Cocteau Twins". Much like my past stories on why I loved this band so much, it generally always revolved around my sisters.

Growing up younger than them, I saw their world blossom before mine. Mesmerized, I watched this foreign concept of love and heartache and all the traffic accidents of teenage bliss transform in front of my eyes. While for the most part I couldn't understand half the things that were going on, I remember I couldn't wait to be as crazy in love like they were, those many years ago, back out in the suburbs of Atlanta.

One day I was was being driven by my sister to middle school, and she was crying over someone she loved. She mentioned that "no matter how bad I feel, The Cocteau Twins make me feel better"... and with that I was hooked. I viewed them as an 'break in case of emergency' kit for the broken heart... and so thats why I love this band more than anything.. whether my heart is complete or not.

So this Valentines Day is all about The Cocteau Twins and the various bootleg / professional / and amateur renderings of the band that I love with all my heart.

Looking back at the catalog, it looks like the last time I did an IDM set was 9 years ago which is absolutely insane. I'm realizing though that IDM and Glitch has changed so much that I've been playing it all along really (who'd a thunk?!). It's about time that I'd throw in a shoegazer set into the mix as the BNB approaches its 500th episode. After visiting Las Vegas last week, my head totally switched back to craving those blurry sounds like I did when I lived there.

Living out in Las Vegas was pretty lonely because I worked 7 days a week and never... really got to go out and meet people. Shoegazer was always on my playlist when I'd get stir crazy and drive out to the middle of desert nowhere with no... real purpose but to escape.

It makes a bit on sense why I did this, because shoegazer was always that kind of music that made me feel less alone when I was a kid out in Marietta, GA. I'd borrow my dad's car and blast My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, and the Cocteau Twins while.... also... driving to escape my head that was stuck where I was.

Thats why The Beautiful Noise Broadcast was created 14 years ago. I wanted to play music for anyone who randomly found it, so they could get wrapped up in something lovely to listen to. .. like we all did hearing the new sounds of college radio.

This set is definitely more in the newgazer realm, but there are some artists that I am really digging lately. I somehow fell into a rabbithole of shoegazer bands from Turkey that are incredible (check out Soluk on here) and my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE find this year was stumbling onto the band Dead Sea... EVERYTHING they do is incredible. This is also in dedication to one of my long time listener turned dearest friend (who over the years I've just begun to call him) "Uncle Eric" the adventurer.

Last month I headed to Madrid at the last minute for work, and decided to spend a few days extra in Malasaña walking around with a few local artists to get a bit of inspiration for some future work.

When it comes to the BNB, there will always be certain sets that fit best in geographic locations. With that being said, whenever I flew back to my old stomping ground of Los Angeles this year, I found myself gravitating back to nu-disco and west coast electro. It reminds me of my time at Shits and Giggles, A Club Called Rhonda, Bears in Space, Otter Magic, Mustache Mondays, and various other neon flavored nights that LA provided to it's residents. This makes sense, in that "Disco Andromeda" and "Los Angeles Electric" formed on the BNB while I lived out there.... and well. . in honor of that is another great set.

At the beginning of this year while out in Georgia, I found myself traveling out to a small town just west of Charlotte and Hickory North Carolina for work for a few months.

The last time I had been in North Carolina was when I lived in a town called Cary 19 years ago. On my way to my apartment in Philadelphia, my truck broke down right outside of Raleigh. The only person I knew was a friend I had met in the panhandle of Florida while being a teen runaway in the 90's.. who had relocated there.

Memories of my stay there plus the long drive through the countryside brought a few softer tracks to mind that don't really fit into any spectrum of the sets I normally play.. so I'd consider this an ETC set filled with soft roadtrip tracks, perfect for driving out into the countryside.

This first track I heard while at a restaurant in Hickory, NC. I was so enamored with it, that I had to excuse myself from a business dinner, and clumsily shazam it in the bathroom repeatedly until I could get the track information. Huzzah!

Just in time for the holiday I'm changing things up a bit. While this is number 2 of "Nocturnia" I'm changing things up a bit with the sounds. Nocturnia is going to focus more on the dark dubby and ambient sides of darkwave, sooo it's the same name, but just a different taste of darkness.

I started compiling this set when I was hanging out in New Orleans around March of this year. These tracks were perfect to listen to while walking around the lower garden district and french quarter at night. Months later and here we are with this set... just in time before Halloween.

It's been an absolute head trip working out in China while simultaneously staying in Atlanta where I grew up. Strangely the head trip isn't about my time in Shanghai. My home has changed so much that China feels far more familiar than the actual place where I spent my childhood to my teens. Often I've found solace walking out at night in the neon megapolis of Shanghai, blaring ambient while walking through futuristic landscapes. .. and what better way to give it homage than a Sleepyhead Radio session.

This is the 19th edition of Sleepyhead Radio, and this hones in on those retro futuristic soft mechanical downtempo lullabies perfect for a space expedition. It's a great soundtrack to a city I've come to love.

I'm finally catching up on all my favorite mixes to listen out to in China. Honing back into those scratchy vocals and jazzy downtempo infused tracks, Trip Hop Scotch is back with its 6th edition.

Out in Jinan I celebrated the opening of my first art park exhibition. It was a 6th floor inside installation of what exactly goes on in my brain... and while my days were immersed in this.. my nights were often quiet walks through the neon metropolis with nothing but these tracks bustling through my brain. Jinan, much like most of the neon cities of China that I have visited, was absolutely breathtaking.... and these tracks were the perfect musical setting for my adventures here.

A few months ago I headed out to Xiamen, which is a coastal city near Taiwan. The hotel I had was this amazing giant glass box that floated stories above the city. It was one of the most surreal experiences, just laying on the balcony while I was swallowed up by all the Vegas like neon lights around me.

I crafted a lovely little jazz infused chill out session that goes over the late vibe around that town. These afterhours sessions out in China have become some of my favorite sets to dj.. and I hope you like them too.

Last week my sister and I headed out to Seaside, Florida to take a quick break from the chaos thats been swelling around us these past few years. I created a set that kind of set the mood for our travels out to this strange beach wonderland called "Seaside, Florida".

I've spent a bit in Shenzhen, and out of all the cities in China that I've been working in, this place just feels the closest to home. It's futuristic looking in places, swarming with warm neon lights and cool LCD screens mapped along the skyscrapers that nestle everywhere.

A bit ago I got a bit lost in all the lights and chaos of the hipster crowds that bustled to and fro, and decided to make a playlist while walking around the city.

Out of all the cities in China, this is my absolute favorite and I think this sultry electro house vibe session is the ultimate love letter to this city.

I took a high speed train from Shanghai to Nanjing the other month and curated a bit of music around the adventure. These landscapes are some of the most incredible things to see through the massive country of China. From remote temples to random skyscraper 'technology parks' placed randomly in the middle of nowhere, my eyes were consistently trying to make sense of everything while the train hurdled through the east.

This made sense to make another "Roadtrips for Headtrips session".. perfect for that excursion from A to B and the beautiful nothing in between.

My apologies on not uploading the sessions this past month. I ended up on a crazy trip out to LA, Shanghai, then to SF, back to Atlanta, up to Chicago, and then back to Shanghai, Jinan, Hong Kong, and back to Atlanta again. I'm getting over an intense case of jetlag but I'm finally back to normal.

It's been A LONG time since I've done a Hot Music For Cheap Hotels session (which I think was the 3rd episode I had ever done on the BNB. This is one of my FAVORITE sets to do, and this session is full of slow blurry dreamwave sounds intermixed with some lovely warm bedroom electro.
