We had a thunderstorm blow through a few days ago that knocked the power out for about a day. I pointed the recorder at a skylight in our attic and let it run for a little bit. Picked up a lot of rumbling thunder, distant sirens, wind, and rain hitting the skylight.

It seems like we don't get many thunderstorms anymore. Anyway, as soon as the rain started coming down today, I grabbed the recorder and captured a few thunder sounds. I wasn't able to set the recorder up outside, so this is just through a cracked window. Excited to try to capture more of these in the future.

Set the recorder down for a few minutes while taking our walk today. Not sure if those are crickets constantly buzzing in the background? Lots of birds and of course vehicles :( Some people chatting and walking past. I sure wish I could identify even just a few of the birds in these recordings.

Went for a short walk today at a little park by our house. We haven't really been out at all in the past few months, so it was great to go for a walk outside of the neighborhood for a change. There were so many great sounds including this little babbling brook under a wooden bridge. I let the recorder run for a few minutes and captured the water along with a few people walking overhead, a dog barking in the distance, vehicles, and a plane or two.

Walking around the neighborhood with my wife on some gravel roads. Just turned the recorder on for a bit to see what sounds I could get :)

Recording the sounds around my house while the stay at home orders are in place has made me realize how beautiful and interesting any soundscape can be if I pay attention. This recording was done on my back porch, and I was surprised by all of the interesting sounds there were to hear right at home.

Sounds from my neighborhood on a day with some light rain. A delivery truck makes its rounds. The usual birds chirping away. We just moved to the neighborhood a few months ago and I'm always still surprised at how many cool bird songs and calls we can hear on our front porch.
