What will you do next? Ralph Manous asked campers to start forming their plans for growing in Christ once they returned home. He challenged them to seek out their youth leaders and seeing other people who are running after Christ and come alongside them to begin growing.
Travis retells the many ups and downs of the life of Joseph. And he likens it to the game of UNO--cards that make the game unpredictable. But God's purpose for Joseph worked out, and Travis reassured kampers that God's purpose for them will be fulfilled.
David Arechiga comes from Mark 4 where Jesus slept in the boat while his disciples feared the storm. The disciples were exactly where they were supposed to be...and that mean riding out a storm. David reminds us that trials aren't always a bad thing, but opportunities to use faith.

Chauncee Holston follows up on Crosstalk with the story of how God told Saul he would be king while Saul was doing the mundane task of searching for his father's donkeys. So many times, what God has planned for us comes through the every-day tasks. Chauncee encouraged campers to be faithful and humble even in the small things.

Coach Ryan Colpitts is on leadership at KAA2 and spoke with the campers the morning after they watched the Crosstalk Skit. He related to them how Christ is the most satisfying relationship, and expressed his own passion for sharing it with others.
The Veal Family spoke to our oldest campers about marriage and family. Then they played, "The Game of Life," with them--a Q and A session about the practicalities of building a home together. It was great information that teens don't often get. Listen and hear what they had to say about shopping for kids or planning vacations as a married couple.

Immanuel Williams was a camper from the south side of Chicago. He’s worked on staff for 3 summers and is now an LIT (Leadership in Training). He spoke to the KAA2 campers about finding their identity in Christ; making Jesus their most treasured distinction.
Just like newborn babies, who are fully dependent on their mothers in their first few months, so too, are newborn Christians depedent on their mentors for spiritual nourishment. Dr. Rochester speaks to our Kaleos about the importance coming along side their "newborn" Christian kids and helping them learn how to grow in that relationship.
The Redmon family has been coming to KAA for the past three years to talk to our high school kampers about Godly marriage. They strongly emphasize the importance of understanding that marriage is not about 'you' but about the relationship as a whole. Marriage is meant to be a sacrificial partnership, and in those moments when you don't have all the answers, it is important to turn to God to be your stability.
James Hogue Delivered the message of Crosstalk to KAA1 Session 5. It was a reminder that although we all sin, Christ’s work covers us if we have faith in Him.
Session 4, June 29, Dr. Rene spoke with the Kaleos. It was the culmination of all they learned this week before loading into their buses and going home with their kids. Kaleos are the follow-up with campers even when back home in their cities. Their week sitting at camp was filled with solid Bible teaching, like Dr. Rene's challenge to them.
It was near the end of a great week, Session 4, and on Thursday, June 28, Rene Rochester brought the word at KAA3’s WHOA Day Church!
Eric Williams asks the question, “Who do we know that we’re growing?” He challenged the Kaleos to maintain intimacy with Christ in spite of the struggles that are faces as followers of Christ because the struggles are precisely what enable us to grow.
Dr. Rene Rochester teaches women to value themselves not only as children of God, but as DAUGHTERS of the King. Dr. Rene emphasizes the importance of valuing the role of women, and that God created men and women uniquely, but equally, to work side by side to fulfill His purposes.
John Scott delivered the sermon at Crosstalk for Session 3, calling kids to count the cost of living their lives for Jesus.
The Flemmings are alumni staff of KAA. And they returned Session 3 to talk with KAA2's staff and share their story of adopting multiple children.
As this camp week drew to a close, Dr. Rene Rochester spoke with the Kaleos about following up with their campers in the city. This years theme was "Follower" and her challenge was to follow the campers and disciple them into 'fishers of men."
Many kids gave their lives to Christ this week. Dr. Rene Rochester encouraged them to go on from here and to continue to grow in Christ, warning them of temptations and struggles to come, but giving them hope and encouragement that a life with Christ is possible because He empowers them.
Eric Williams delivered the message after a drama and the crucifixion were re-enacted for the campers. He reminded everyone that the decision to repent from your sins is full of emotional--but it is still a decision, an act of the will--and he reminded everyone to consider carefully what repentance truly means.
Both Gordian "G" and Cecilee Coleman met at KAA when Cecilee was a Kaleo. G now maintains KAAs vehicles and his wife and kids were the Covenant Family at KAA Session 2 of 2018.
Dr. Rene Rochester goes over trends to effectively minister to teens, drawing upon her years of ministry and as a HS instructor.
James Hogue delivered his first Crostalk sermon as the director of KAA1 this year.
His message was simple.
All the hurt and pain our kids witness comes from sin...and sin is present in each and every one of us.
But the sacrifice of Christ paid for our sins and faith in Him empowers us to live free of our sin.
He called the campers to accept Christ's remedy of their sin.
The Jenkins Family spoke to KAA teen campers about their marriage, then played a game where our campers could ask candid questions about life and marriage
KAA3 brings in a family to talk about marriage and life with our teen campers.
This week was the Jenkins Family--who are no strangers to KAA.
Rene Rochester, the founder of the Kaleo Program at KAA, returned to challenge the staff to "Go Fish"--her text was Luke 5-1-12, when Jesus called the first disciples and told them they would be fishers of men.
This summer, KAA staff will be welcoming "fish" of all shapes and sizes, but Jesus will be calling all of them.
Jason Hawk challenged the KAA staff to do something with their lives that will have a lasting impact after they're gone. In light of a world of temporary things, he reminded them of three things that will last forever: God's Word, God's people, and God's love
Joe White, the president of Kanakuk, talked to all 2,500 staff of Kuk and KAA. He powerfully reminded them that God’s grace can accomplish anything. Sometimes ministering to thousands of kids each summer seems impossible. But with Joe’s stories of God’s grace throughout the years, the staff was encouraged to live out Christ’s love this summer. The night ended in powerful worship.
Eric Williams, the executive director of KAA addressed his KAA2 staff and told them that nothing in this world should have dominion over them. But just as they assume control over their lives, they are to give control of their lives over to Christ. Eric was quick to point out that this doesn't happen all at once. "I surrender all," is more realistically, "I surrender a little more every day."
Chris Conlee is the lead pastor of Highpoint Memphis.
But his path to ministry was an unlikely one.
Conlee shares his troubled background and told the staff of KAA to boil all the theology down to one principle--"You exist to prove that love works."
Great words to staff who are training to love America's inner-city youth!
But Conlee said that all of us have an addiction to self and the cure for it is a glorious addiction to the Word of God. Listen as Pastor Conlee describes the road to recovery and developing a glorious addiction to God that overcomes our impure desires.
The summer staff arrived and Bruce charged them to make this the best camp for the “best kids in the world.”
