We start our chat discussing the 2026 NBA Playoffs and specifically the Round 1 matchup between our Atlanta Hawks and the New York Knicks. In this episode thought, it's just me and Mia and she shares some of her favorite hobbies and interests outside of school. We talk about sewing, knitting, crochet, patterns, sewing machines, thread, Dragon Con, Ren Fair, Star Wars, costume design, and co-writing a book. Today, I had a chance to sit back down with GOC senior and one of my current 12th Lit students, Langdon, who you may have heard just a few weeks ago on the podcast. He and Mia joined me to discuss their roles in GOC's Freaky Friday. Today, I got to continue that conversation one-on-one with Langdon. We chatted about Langdon's favorite movies, video games, music, live music, theatre, Greek mythology, acting, cooking, sports, his drama productions at GOC, and his recent and future travel plans. It's a great conversation, so let's get to it. Here's Langdon.

Today I had a chance to sit down with Karl and Monica from - I mean Langdon and Mia from Gwinnett Online Campus. Karl and Monica are the characters in GOC’s production of Freaky Friday that Langdon and Mia play. And they were phenomenal. I hope you all had a chance to see the musical - everyone was great. Langdon and Mia are no exception. We talked for over an hour about everything related to their performances - auditions, rehearsals, the shenanigans, the live performances, the improv, the choreography, the rest of the cast, Ms. Maggie. Really a deep dive on the musical, but also a deep dive with two amazing GOC students and friends. You're going to laugh a lot. Here are Langdon and Mia.

Today I had a chance to sit down and chat with Nicole, a podcast guest way back in 2022 and new ITS Board President - we chat about that leadership role here. But we start by diving right into her role as Savannah in GOC’s recent production of Freaky Friday. Nicole shares what it’s like to play the villain and her approach to playing a new role. We talk about what can only be described as a hilarious play and production. We talk about the play as well as backstage in the weird GOC kitchen, some dead frog props, and all sorts of hijinks that went on with the cast and crew. And we chat about her busy summer. Nicole is helping her dad with work in Iowa for a week, then she has summer camp, and then she has a big mountain biking trip to Arkansas planned - fingers crossed for no more injuries! We finished our conversation talking about singing, songwriting, composing, prom, and volleyball.

Welcome to our very first bonus episode of the podcast. If you haven't listened to Episode 93 with Nicole, make sure to listen to that episode. We have a chance to talk about recent events. This “lost episode” is actually one we recorded back in November of 2025 where I had a chance to sit down and catch up with Nicole, a 10th-grade student at GOC and previous guest of the podcast way back on episode 23 in May of 2022. We had a chance to chat again and talk about her performing arts prowess - she is one of the most talented students I've ever had on the podcast. We talked about her involvement in five GOC talent shows and five GOC musicals, including her recent performance in Freaky Friday. We discussed what it takes to be a music director as well as write and choreograph performances. We talk about singing, playing piano, and writing and composing original songs. And we finish our chat talking about volleyball, snow skiing, mountain biking, drawing, and video games. We cover a lot of ground, and I know you will enjoy your chat.

Today, I had a chance to sit down and chat with two guests - GOC 11th-grader Alex and 10th-grader Aiden. I had the amazing opportunity to work with Alex and Aiden as co-counsel for their prosecution of Poseidon on behalf of Odysseus in a mock trial rich-experience GOC had at the Gwinnett Justice & Administration Center. I was blown away by their efforts, and I loved having the chance to talk to both of them about their prep hard work. We also had a chance to talk about other interests Alex and Aiden have. We talk about Alex’s work in theatre and Alex’s role in GOC’s recent production of Freaky Friday. We talk about music, guitar, singing, tuba, and jazz. Aiden has a chance to share his busy schedule with Stuco, Student Leadership, the Future Pre-Med Scholars Club, his love of cars, go-karts, all things automotive, golf, and technology. And we talk about their future in school, college, and career.

Today, I had a chance to sit down with GOC all-time greats, 12th-grader Tori and 11th-grader Gracie. If you have been to any of the GOC Talent Shows, Fall Plays, or Spring Musicals in the past 5 years, you have seen Tori and Gracie perform. They just finished their performances in GOC’s Spring Musical, Freaky Friday. Gracie played teen Ellie Blake and Tori played mom Katherine Blake and then well, they flipped their roles because that’s the premise of Freaky Friday. Anyway, they were amazing! The acting, singing, choreography, and comedy were extraordinary. We dive into some behind the scenes processes and preparation for their roles, and we talk about the fun stuff, the difficult stuff, and how they prepared for dual roles. We also chat about music, dance, the visual arts, singing and voice lessons, piano, mandolin, college, careers, working, and balancing everything they do both at school and out of school.
