What Is Holiness?

Holiness is a word that can make us feel uneasy.  It seems lofty, threatening, alien.  We instinctively sense that God’s holiness has dangerous overtones. His purity calls our sinful attachments into question, demanding that we forsake them in order to enjoy the greatest of all goods—belonging to a God of infinite love and power. To come casually with our hearts grasping tightly to the sins we cherish or to come lightly as though they are no big deal, might be like throwing ourselves onto a roaring fire with the expectation we will not perish. How, then, can we—sinful and broken human beings—hope to come into the presence of a holy God and survive the experience?

When God was forging a relationship with the Israelites, he told Moses to "Give the following instructions to the entire community of Israel. You must be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy” (Leviticus 19:2). God was calling his people into relationship with himself and he wanted his people not only to survive the experience but to be nourished by it. But for that to happen, they needed to know the ground rules, needed to come to him on his terms not theirs.

The Hebrew word for “holiness” is qōdes, a word that highlights the realm of the sacred in contrast to everything common and profane. The adjective qādôš, “holy,” refers to God and what belongs to him. In various places in the Hebrew Scriptures, God is called by the title the “Holy One of Israel.”

Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:

2 Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.

3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

5 I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.

6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.

9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.

11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.

As we go into this season of contemplating Jesus’ death, many Christians begin to meditate on the meaning of sacrifice. They search for Bible verses about sacrifice, read the resurrection story and try to understand what it means to offer sacrifices to God.

It’s a lofty goal. Sacrifice is a big part of the salvation story and the Bible has a lot to say about sacrifices and how we should offer it.

Leviticus may not be your favorite book in the Bible, but God has devoted an entire book explaining to His people what was expected. In fact, the children of Israel were camped out in the wilderness for about a year as they learned about the sacrifices they were expected to make and the other things they needed to do if they were to please God.

Since the beginning of time, God has required a sacrifice from His people. He asked Adam and Eve for the sacrifice of obedience. Later, when they sinned, He required a physical offering even as He still asked them to be obedient.

But biblical sacrifice did not end in the Old Testament. The New Testament is rife with sacrifice—not only what is expected of God’s people but also the sacrifice God made on humanity’s behalf. Let’s explore a few of those Bible verses about sacrifice:

Bible verses about the sacrifice God made for humanity

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8 ESV).

“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you” (John 15:12-14 ESV).

“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45 ESV).

Are you ready to learn lets do that!

The beatitudes are "blessed sayings" that come from the opening verses of the famous Sermon on the Mount delivered by Jesus Christ and recorded in Matthew 5:3-12. Here Jesus stated several blessings, each beginning with the phrase, "Blessed are ..." (Similar declarations appear in Jesus' Sermon on the Plain in Luke 6:20-23.) Each saying speaks of a blessing or "divine favor" that will be bestowed on the person who possesses a certain character quality.

Beatitude Meaning The word beatitude comes from the Latin beatitudo, meaning "blessedness."The phrase "blessed are" in each beatitude implies a current state of happiness or well-being. This expression held a powerful meaning of "divine joy and perfect happiness" to the people of Christ's day. In other words, Jesus was saying "divinely happy and fortunate are those who possess these inward qualities." While speaking of a current "blessedness," each pronouncement also promised a future reward. The beatitudes introduce and set the tone for Jesus' Sermon on the Mount by emphasizing the humble state of humans and the righteousness of God. Each beatitude depicts the ideal heart condition of a citizen of God’s kingdom. In this idyllic state, the believer experiences abundant spiritual blessings.

HEBREWS 11 – EXAMPLES OF FAITH TO HELP THE DISCOURAGED

A. Faith defined.

  1. (1) A definition of faith.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

a. Now faith is the substance: Just as our physical eyesight is the sense that gives us evidence of the material world, faith is the “sense” that gives us evidence of the invisible, spiritual world.

i. Faith has its reasons. The Bible doesn’t recommend a “blind leap” of faith. But the reasons can’t be measured in a laboratory; they have to be understood spiritually.

ii. “Faith extends beyond what we learn from our senses, and the author is saying that it has its reasons. Its tests are not those of the senses, which yield uncertainty.” (Morris)

iii. “Physical eyesight produces a conviction or evidence of visible things; faith is the organ which enables people to see the invisible order.” (Bruce)

b. Of things hoped for… of things not seen: If you have the substance before you or if you can see it, there is no use for faith. Faith is needed for what we can’t see and can’t touch.

i. Faith does not contradict reason, though it may go beyond reason. One may objectively prove the Bible is the most unique book ever published and has impacted society more than any other book. But only faith can prove that the Bible is the Word of God. Therefore, this is a belief beyond reason but not in contradiction to reason or against reason.

Welcome to the Pray Warrior Room as we are able to take your prayers and petition to the throne of grace. We are so elated for you to be on with us and we are so grateful for all that you have done and we are grateful you now!

The central figure of the Christian faith is not some remote deity, a flawed spirit, or a being with no understanding of human nature. If that were the case, then prayer would be a terrifying and possibly meaningless experience. Fortunately, for the Christian, Jesus not only understands our struggles and failures (Hebrews 2:14–18), He has overcome them first-hand (Hebrews 4:15).

This verse is the conclusion of a point begun in verse 14. After encouraging Christians to complete the works God has given us (Hebrews 4:1–11), the writer reminds us that God's word is the ultimate measuring stick for all of our thoughts, deeds, and intentions (Hebrews 4:12). Nothing is hidden or obscure to God, who is out ultimate judge (Hebrews 4:13). Verses 14 and 15 make it clear that we can maintain our faith in the face of struggles, knowing that Christ has already shown us the way. He not only experienced suffering, death, and temptation, but did it without succumbing to sin.

Knowing, then, that Christ fully understands our weaknesses and has experienced our pain, we can pray. When we come to God asking for mercy, grace, help, or forgiveness, we can be confident (Hebrews 3:6) and assured. Nobody understands our pain better than Jesus, which is why only Jesus can be our High Priest as well as the substitute for our payment of sin (Hebrews 2:18).

Question: "What did Jesus mean when He said, 'I am the way and the truth and the life' (John 14:6)?"

Answer: “I am the way and the truth and the life” is one of the seven “I Am” statements of Jesus. On the last night before His betrayal and death, Jesus was preparing His disciples for the days ahead. For over three years, these men had been following Jesus and learning from His teaching and example. They had placed their hopes in Him as the Messiah, the promised deliverer, yet they still didn’t understand how He was going to accomplish that deliverance. After the Last Supper, Jesus began speaking about His departure, which led to questions from His disciples.

In John 13:33, Jesus said, “My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come.” This prompted Peter to ask where He was going (verse 36). Peter and the others did not understand that Jesus was speaking of His death and ascension to heaven. Jesus’ response was, “Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later.”

Mark 11:24

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

Explanation and Commentary of Mark 11:24

Faith is the essential element in our relationship with God. Jesus says that if you have faith, you can command a mountain to jump into the sea. He also taught them that they must ask in his name and that their prayers must be in accordance with God’s will. Still, another way he puts it is that if they remain in him, or abide in him, they can ask anything and it will be done for them (Jn 15:7).

Prayer is the great privilege of the child of God. It is simply amazing that we can come to God through Christ, and that he grants us to ask him for things. It is also a wonderful mystery that the Sovereign God of the universe has ordained that he accomplishes his will in part through our prayers. He has a plan that involves us sometimes coming to him to change his mind about something (Ex 32:14).

CHURCH: GIVING HONOR AND LOVE TO PASTORS

Paul told the Thessalonians, “Now we ask you, brothers, to respect those who work hard among you, and are over you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other” (1 Thessalonians 5:12-13). Eugene Peterson puts it this way in The Message paraphrase:

We ask you to honor those leaders who work so hard for you, who have been given the responsibility of urging and guiding you along in your obedience. Overwhelm them with appreciation and love! Get along among yourselves, each of you doing your part.

Please give me a few moments to share some insights about three key thoughts Paul expressed: 1) honor, 2) overwhelm with appreciation and 3) get along.

Honor

Many congregations have seen spiritual pain, hurt and wounds. Pastors and wives are often caught in the middle of “hand-to-hand” combat. They are unable to leave the field of battle, for it follows them everywhere. Families have broken up over doctrines. Friendships have ended because of grace. There have been ugly scenes of hostility and animosity, with emotions fractured and nerves frayed. Walking in the warfare have been pastors and their spouses, attempting to comfort, soothe, encourage, uplift, direct and gently admonish.

Many pastors have realized that they had to “go back to school.” I have sometimes joked that we should contribute to writing a book, Everything We Knew Was Wrong.

Tonight is the prayer night call in and recieve the blessings for this to shall pass: I’ve heard these words most all my life, maybe you have too, from well-meaning friends during difficult times. “It’s OK, things will get better soon, this too shall pass…” And while there’s nothing wrong with an encouraging word when one is struggling, some of us have believed that many popular phrases passed down through time are straight from the Bible. But it’s not always true. “This too shall pass,” is simply not there. Maybe some of you are searching now. But what we can find in all our searching through the Word are the many things God does tell us about our suffering and hard times. We all face them at one point or another in life, and many of us may even find ourselves there right now.The great news is this: God never leaves us to fend for ourselves in difficult times. He promises to be with us in all that we face, and His whole heart encompasses our pain, surrounds us in peace, and gives us incredible hope and grace to keep pressing through.

Welcome to Blessings by Grace Radio tonight is weekly Food for the Soul Bible Study Sessions: tonight the inspirations will talk What does it mean to study the word of God?

CONSIDER THIS:  The great miracle is that the bible, despite all of it's variety and complexity, reveals a unifying, underlying and over arching story.

We read God’s Word. We ruminate on God’s Word. We rememberize God’s Word. Today we come to the fourth formative, Spirit empowered way of engaging God’s Word: Study. The R word is Research.

The Bible is a complex book. In fact it is sixty-six books. It was written on three different continents, in three different languages, by forty different authors and over the period of some fifteen hundred years. Still, miracle of miracles, the Bible reveals a single, unifying, underlying, and overarching story. As has been said, the waters of Scripture are shallow enough for a baby to play in and yet deep enough for an elephant to drown. The Bible is  the most significant and important book in the history of the world and is easily the best selling book of all time.

What could be more worthy of our investment than a lifelong study of the Word of God? It seems like a slam dunk. Sadly, it is not.

Faith takes two things, first the written scriptures (hope) and then the spoken personal word of God (faith) – Romans 10:17. The scriptures show us the general will of God and communicate the conditions that must be met to receive faith and see His hand move. His spoken personal word reveals His will to us personally, and lets us know when we have met those conditions. The goal is to hear God confirm His promise and let Him place His witness into our heart. The promise then comes alive and becomes a reality to us. This reality is ‘the substance (lit. – reality, assurance, title-deed) of things (previously) hoped for, the evidence of things not (yet) seen’ (Hebrews 11:1).This seeking turns the general promises of God into personal realities. This is the period when we work the word, and the word works in us. Seeking God merges the word of God and the will of God into our lives. We become one with the word.

the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Not any man's prayer; not the prayer of a profane sinner, for God heareth not sinners; nor of hypocrites and formal professors: but of the righteous man, who is justified by the righteousness of Christ, and has the truth of grace in him, and lives soberly and righteously; for a righteous man often designs a good man, a gracious man, one that is sincere and upright, as Job, Joseph of Arimathea, and others; though not without sin, as the person instanced in the following verse shows; "Elias, who was a man of like passions", but a just man, and his prayer was prevalent: and not any prayer of a righteous man is of avail, but that which is "effectual, fervent"; that has power, and energy, and life in it; which is with the Spirit, and with the understanding, with the heart, even with a true heart, and in faith; and which is put up with fervency, and not in a cold, lukewarm, lifeless, formal, and customary way: it is but one word in the original text; and the Vulgate Latin version renders it, "daily"; that prayer which is constant and continual, and without ceasing, and is importunate; this prevails and succeeds, as the parable of the widow and the unjust judge shows. Some translate the word "inspired": the Spirit of God breathes into men the breath of spiritual life, and they live, and being quickened by him, they breathe; and prayer is the breath of the spiritual man, and is no other than the reverberation of the Spirit of God in him; and such prayer cannot fail of success: it may be rendered "inwrought"; true prayer is not what is written in a book, but what is wrought in the heart, by the Spirit of God; who is the enditer of prayer, who impresses the minds of his people with a sense of their wants, and fills their mouths with arguments, and puts strength into them to plead with God.

Welcome to Blessings by Grace Radio we are so elated that you came here and able to join us. The Doctor is in.... Dr. Bishop Alfred Moore is on the air and we are here to give you the word of God raw and uncut. We believe that you are here for a purpose and that you have the ability to manifest the word.

What does the word manifest mean when used in the Bible? What is the biblical definition of the word manifest?

Manifest is…

When something is manifest it is evident, obvious, apparent, and plain for everyone to see. I remember the Communist Manifesto from years ago which revealed what the philosophy behind it was. This manifesto was a huge document that gave precise details that made it clear to those who read it what this agenda was all about so a manifest is something that is presented in either verbal or written form that provides evidence for something that is typically indisputable. Something that is manifest is something that is clear to see by all. The use of the word manifest in the Bible is not far removed from this same idea.

It helps remind us of God’s answers to prayer. As I noted earlier so often we forget about the things that are no longer pressing. When we do little things like this we remind ourselves that God is consistently working for our good and His glory. It helps remind us to not give up on praying for something. Some prayer requests weren’t “answered” yet. We are seldom like the persistent widow. Usually we’ll pray a few times and then move on to something else. By writing down prayer requests and going back over them we are reminded that there are some things that we ought to still petition heaven for.

It helps highlight folks who might need a bit of soul-care attention. Praying for someone keeps your heart attentive to their life. When someone has been on our prayer lists for a lengthy season it queues us to schedule a visit. It helps remind me to pray for people throughout the week. I am an out of sight, out of mind, type of guy. Keeping a lists of prayer requests in front of me will help me to remember to pray for these people—and also to follow up.It helps remind me to pray for people throughout the week. I am an out of sight, out of mind, type of guy. noun. a devout petition to God or an object of worship. a spiritual communion with God or an object of worship, as in supplication, thanksgiving, adoration, or confession. the act or practice of praying to God or an object of worship. a formula or sequence of words used in or appointed for praying: the Lord's Prayer.

Thy will be done - This petition is properly added to the preceding; for when the kingdom of righteousness, peace, and joy, in the Holy Spirit, is established in the heart, there is then an ample provision made for the fulfillment of the Divine will.

The will of God is infinitely good, wise, and holy; to have it fulfilled in and among men, is to have infinite goodness, wisdom, and holiness diffused throughout the universe; and earth made the counterpart of heaven.

As it is in heaven - The Jews maintained, that they were the angels of God upon earth, as these pure spirits were angels of God in heaven; hence they said, "As the angels sanctify the Divine name in heaven, so the Israelites sanctify the Divine name, upon earth." See Schoettgen.

Welcome to Blessngs by Grace Radio and we are here to bring you the word of God.

[1] When theologians speak of the "mission of the Church" they usually try to describe what the Church is to do in the particular environment in which it is found. Of course, there are many biblical texts that provide direction for this: the Church is to make disciples by baptizing people from all nations and teaching them to obey the commands of Jesus (Matt. 28:19-20); the Church is to proclaim repentance and forgiveness of sins in Christ's name to all people (Luke 24:47); the Church is to practice justice, mercy, and faith (Matt. 23:23); the Church is to witness for Jesus to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8); and so forth.1 Any concept of mission, however, will be informed by a basic ecclesiology. What does it mean to be "Church" in the first place? I would like to offer a few thoughts on how the question of the Church's mission might be framed or re-framed in consideration of three prominent biblical images for Church.2

The Church as the Bride of Christ.

[2] In the Gospels, Jesus identifies himself as "the Bridegroom" (Mark 2:19) and in Ephesians, Paul interprets marital relations as "a great mystery" that can be applied to Christ and the Church (Eph. 5:31-33). Likewise, in Revelation, the Church is identified as the bride of Christ (Rev. 21:9; 22:17).

Convocation (also referred to as “set-apart gathering”) is the most widely used word to bring people together, by churches, Christian religious institutions and synagogues in today’s generation. It is said that on the Sabbath or Festivals, we must gather/come together to worship. The aim of this study paper is to shed light on what the word “convocation” means in its “correct context” and its spiritual meaning for all true believers of Yehoshua HaMashiach who live by the Torah (laws of Elohim).

Why study the Bible? may seem like a silly question, especially if you’re a person who studies it often, but it’s worth considering. Bible study can become a dry or optional habit if we’re not coming to God’s Word for the right reasons.

The Word of God is a priceless treasure. It’s true, and it will always be true; it’s enough, and it will always be enough; it’s unchanging, yet it is living and able to speak to each of us.

Three Reasons to Study Your Bible

  1. To learn who God is, know him better, and recognize his voice

How do you get to know someone? When you meet someone new, you take in your first impression, listen to what they say, and watch what they do. Eventually, the real person will become known.

We go through a similar process getting to know God. Of course, God can reveal himself in any way imaginable, at any time and to anyone. But if we have his Word, then he expects us to read it and to know him through it. As we read his Word and observe his actions, we get to know who he is.

  1. To gain wisdom, learn what’s right, correct wrong thinking, and receive guidance

It’s tough to figure out what is right and wrong in this world, isn’t it? Cultural understandings, other people’s views, and our own biases make it very difficult to know with certainty how to handle the questions and problems life brings us. Even with the immovable truth of the Bible, it’s not easy.

  1. To see and follow Jesus

My goal in life is to follow Jesus well. It doesn’t matter if we live in the United States, China, Brazil, or a crowded refugee camp; if we live a comfortable and prosperous life; or if we must scrape together every meal. If we follow Jesus well, we will have lived a successful

The world is filled with trial and hardship. It’s easy to become more worried and anxious every day as you face relationship struggles, financial problems, bad news, and grief. The Bible tells us that Jesus came to give us peace! If we seek out God’s plan for peace in our lives, through spending time in Scripture and praying, we can experience a “peace that passes understanding” (Philippians 4:7) - it’s a promise!

Prayer for Peace: Dear God, as I read your Holy Word, help me to feel supernatural peace and comfort flood my heart and mind. I have been so worried and anxious and have forgotten to turn to you for strength. Today I lay my worries and struggles at your feet and ask for your peace that passes understanding. Thank you, God, for loving me and for sending your Son, Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace. Amen.

Do we live in a spiritual Sodom and Gomorrah? Is the end coming? Is Christ returning? Is the Kingdom of God fairly close? Are we lingering in the worldliness that surrounds us? It will take faith to walk away. Lot believed to such depth that he urged his sons-in-law, and yet he lingered. Lot knew the angels were there, standing by and waiting for him and his family. Even they tried to hasten him out, and yet Lot lingered.

He was slow when he should have been quick. He was backward when he should have been forward. He was trifling when he should have been hasty. He was cold when he should have been hot. He was loitering when he should have been hurrying. We might say today, "Was this man out of it, or what?" In a major sense, he was, yet he was a converted man.

The world around us is smoldering embers that will soon burst into the flames of the greatest tribulation that has ever hit the entirety of the earth. Unfortunately, many linger while the world is getting ready to burn. Lot is an example of a true Christian, who appears to know far more than he lives up to; he can see and understand far more than he practices

The apostle Paul starts all of his letters with the prayer that “grace and peace” will come to the reader. But he never uses a verb. He never says, “Grace and peace be to you,” or, “Grace and peace come to you.” He assumes the verb.

Peter makes it explicit. He begins both his letters, “May grace and peace be multiplied to you.” Paul would be very happy with this verb. It’s what he means when he says thirteen times, “Grace to you and peace.” The verb behind be multiplied is used twelve times in the New Testament and always means increase — move from lesser to greater.

The same is true in the spiritual realm. As I journey toward my final destination, there is an objective standard by which to determine whether I am headed in the right direction. I don’t have to guess at where I am going. I have a standard that will lead me home. Years ago, I visited a church member whose house was located in a remote, rural area. There were numerous twists and turns on the road to her house. Although I was new to the area, I successfully located her house, arriving about twilight. By the time I left it was completely dark. As I started toward home, I made a wrong turn at some point. As I tried to feel my way back to the right road, one wrong turn led to another. Soon, I was so lost that I couldn’t even find my way back to her house to start all over. I did not own a cell phone in those days and there were no public phones available. I did not have a local map with me. There were very few streetlights on the road I was traveling and I began to feel very uneasy in the darkness of the night. I had lost my way and had no idea how to get home.

Fortunately, as we journey toward our final and eternal destination, we do not have to grope in the darkness and follow the uncertainty of our feelings (Prov. 14:12; 16:25; Jer. 10:23). We have sources of light to guide us home. The Psalmist said unto God, “O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles” (Psa. 43:3). The Word of God is a source of light and truth for our journey. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path…The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple” (Psa. 119:105, 130).

You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything, but is thrown out and trampled under foot. You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. (Matt. 5:13-16)

If you are a follower of Jesus living the beatitudes, you matter. You have an important role to play because you are the salt of the earth. Salt preserves and Christians help preserve what is good in the culture. In the ancient world, salt was very valuable: the Greeks thought it contained something almost divine, and the Romans sometimes paid their soldiers with salt. A soldier who didn't carry out his duties “was not worth his salt.” You are a seasoning agent. In a sense, you can bring the distinctive flavor of God's values to all of life. You can make life palatable.

Rather than focusing on the quantity of your prayer time, focus on the quality. Spend quality time with the Lord, not only giving Him your requests, but praying the Word back to Him, and thus claiming His promises. Doing this will help bolster your prayer life, which, in turn, increases your assurance and faith.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:17, we are told to “pray without ceasing.” Many people take this verse to mean they must pray literally unceasingly. While that is an excellent idea, it isn’t quite possible to pray without ever stopping. What Paul has in mind here is prayer as a regular habit, whereby His people take hold of God, and His promises in all of life. Paul could say this because he has given the example in his letters to fellow believers (1 Thessalonians 3:10; 2 Thessalonians 1:11; Ephesians 1:16; 3:14).

In the parable of the ten virgins, Jesus compares Christian life with five wise virgins and five foolish virgins, and their preparations before going out to meet the bridegroom.

“Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.” Matthew 25:1-4.

All of the virgins went out to meet the bridegroom. They had said goodbye to the world in order to seek the things that are above, where Jesus is. (Colossians 2:1-2) They all took their lamps with them. There was only one difference between them: the wise virgins took oil in their vessels together with their lamps; the foolish virgins did not realize that they had to take oil in their vessels.

“Command the children of Israel that they bring to you pure oil of pressed olives for the light, to make the lamps burn continually.” Leviticus 24:2.

Verses 1-13 Here,I. That in general which is to be illustrated is, the kingdom of heaven, the state of things under the gospel, the external kingdom of Christ, and the administration and success of it. Some of Christ’s parables had shown us what it is like now in the present reception of it, as ch3. This tells us what it shall be like, when the mystery of God shall be finished, and that kingdom delivered up to the Father. The administration of Christ’s government, towards the ready and the unready in the great day, may be illustrated by this similitude; or the kingdom is put for the subjects of the kingdom. The professors of Christianity shall then be likened to these ten virgins, and shall be thus distinguished.II. That by which it is illustrated, is, a marriage solemnity. It was a custom sometimes used among the Jews on that occasion, that the bridegroom came, attended with his friends, late in the night, to the house of the bride, where she expected him, attended with her bride-maids; who, upon notice given of the bridegrooms’ approach, were to go out with lamps in their hands, to light him into the house with ceremony and formality, in order to the celebrating of the nuptials with great mirth.

How comfortable we are to add God to our lives with little or no change necessary on our part. Such is not the message of the true gospel or the teaching of the Scriptures on the spiritual life. The Old Testament prophets, along with John the Baptist and then Jesus, called for a radical change for those who would trust and obey God. “Repent” was an indispensable word to those who proclaimed the Word of God in truth. To repent means to change not only our thinking but our actions. When we are saved, we are saved from our heathen desires and practices and called to live a life of holiness. This call to holiness comes very early in Peter’s first epistle in chapter 1:14-16 and continues to be stressed throughout his epistle.

The belief and behavior of holiness of which Peter speaks comes neither naturally (through our flesh) nor easily. Peter did not find it natural or easy either. While the concept of holiness is frequently taught in the Old Testament, Judaism (especially the scribes and Pharisees) distorted it until it became something entirely different. To many, the scribes and Pharisees, who saw themselves as holy, were the epitome of holiness. How shocking Jesus’ words must have been to those who first heard them:

“For I say to you, that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:20).

"Holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord." Hebrews xii. 14.

{1} IN this text it has seemed good to the Holy Spirit to convey a chief truth of religion in a few words. It is this circumstance which makes it especially impressive; for the truth itself is declared in one form or other in every part of Scripture. It is told us again and again, that to make sinful creatures holy was the great end which our Lord had in view in taking upon Him our nature, and thus none but the holy will be accepted for His sake at the last day. The whole history of redemption, the covenant of mercy in all its parts and provisions, attests the necessity of holiness in order to salvation; as indeed even our natural conscience bears witness also. But in the text what is elsewhere implied in history, and enjoined by precept, is stated doctrinally, as a momentous and necessary fact, the result of some awful irreversible law in the nature of things, and the inscrutable determination of the Divine Will.

Now some one may ask, "Why is it that holiness is {2} a necessary qualification for our being received into heaven? why is it that the Bible enjoins upon us so strictly to love, fear, and obey God, to be just, honest, meek, pure in heart, forgiving, heavenly-minded, self-denying, humble, and resigned? Man is confessedly weak and corrupt; why then is he enjoined to be so religious, so unearthly? why is he required (in the strong language of Scripture) to become 'a new creature'? Since he is by nature what he is, would it not be an act of greater mercy in God to save him altogether without this holiness, which it is so difficult, yet (as it appears) so necessary for him to possess?"

Tonight welcome: Prayer is an invocation or act that seeks to activate a rapport with an object of worship through deliberate communication. In the narrow sense, the term refers to an act of supplication or intercession directed towards a deity (a god), or a deified ancestor. More generally, prayer can also have the purpose of thanksgiving or praise, and in comparative religion is closely associated with more abstract forms of meditation and with charms or spells.[1]

Prayer can take a variety of forms: it can be part of a set liturgy or ritual, and it can be performed alone or in groups. Prayer may take the form of a hymn, incantation, formal creedal statement, or a spontaneous utterance in the praying person.

The act of prayer is attested in written sources as early as 5000 years ago. Today, most major religions involve prayer in one way or another; some ritualize the act, requiring a strict sequence of actions or placing a restriction on who is permitted to pray, while others teach that prayer may be practised spontaneously by anyone at any time.

Scientific studies regarding the use of prayer have mostly concentrated on its effect on the healing of sick or injured people. The efficacy of prayer in faith healing has been evaluated in numerous studies, with contradictory results.

ITS HOLINESS OR HELL 88 WHAT ABOUT THE SCRIPTURE THAT STATES IF A RIGHTEOUS MAN TURNS FROM HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS AND STARTS SINNING HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS WILL BE FORGOTTEN? Ezekiel 3:20 “When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered.” Only the reasoning powers of the mind of Christ can unravel the mystery of our godliness, so come let us reason together with Christ’s reasoning. (Eph. 3:3-4) The truth of the matter is that there is only one righteous man, “Jesus Christ the righteous!” (1 John 2:1) This is why the Scriptures refer to Jesus as “the Lord our righteousness.” (Jeremiah 23:6, 1 Cor. 1:30) Other than he: “There is none righteous no not one.” (Rom. 3:10) For: “There is not a just man upon the earth who doeth good and sinneth not.” (Eccl. 7:20) Therefore, people are not made righteous by the content of their character before or after salvation. At salvation, the Lord becomes our righteousness for he is the only righteousness any believer has, and he is the only one who cannot sin and thus turn from his righteousness. (1 John 3:9, 1 Cor. 1:30) This Scriptures further states: “his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered.” First of all, God help the man who wants the Lord to remember the works of “righteousness which he hath done.” For we are saved: “not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us.” (Titus 3:5) For: “ALL of our righteousnesses are as filthy rags.” (Isa. 64:6) Therefore, pity the man whose righteousness the Lord does remember, because the Lord esteems it as filth, in comparison! (Isa. 64:6) Since the Lord is our righteousness, believers should know that our righteousness is forever! (Isa. 51:6) Isaiah wrote that none of us are righteous. Therefore, the only way the born again could possibly lose their salvation would be if Jesus Christ.

“I will be treated as holy. … Be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy” (Leviticus 10:3, 19:2). If this is the English translation of the very words of God, then isn’t it obvious, student of His Word, that we have a responsibility to discover what God says about holiness? But how does one go about a topical study of God’s teaching on this subject–or any subject? The first thing I do is go to a concordance and find where the word (holiness) and related words (e.g., sanctification, sanctify) are used in the Bible. Under what circumstances does God first introduce the word and the topic? What does He say after that? If I look up each occurrence of the word and study its context, then I will have God’s mind, His teaching, on the subject. This is inductive study. So let’s explore briefly how this is done and what you can learn for your life–what will help you to treat God as holy and to be holy yourself!

The people of Jerusalem now question Jesus' messiahship on the basis of where he has come from. They think that the Messiah's origin will be unknown; so since they know where Jesus is from, he is disqualified (v. 27). Later we will hear of others among the crowd who think the Messiah's origin is known and who disqualify Jesus because he comes from Galilee (vv. 41-42). Neither of these opinions is accurate, which reveals the confusion and ignorance of the people, who, like the opponents, are judging by appearances rather than with right judgment.

Jesus' teaching about the sabbath and his reference to the people seeking to kill him (vv. 19-23) leads some Jerusalemites to conclude that he is the man the authorities are trying to kill (v. 25). They realize Jesus is claiming to be the Messiah (v. 26), so the fact that he is speaking publicly and without interference from the authorities raises the question of whether the authorities have concluded that Jesus is the Messiah after all. If false teaching is not opposed, then people get the impression that either it is not false or it is not significant.

John introduces this section as he did the last (palin, translated once more; cf. 8:12), indicating a progression as the Light of the World shines ever more brightly, revealing himself, his Father and his opponents' true condition. Jesus returns to the theme of his departure, but now he connects it with his opponents' sinfulness. His departure has implications for them, for they will look for him, presumably for help, but they will die in their sins. His conclusion--Where I go, you cannot come (v. 21)--seems to give the reason they will die in their sins: they will die in their sins because they are not able to go with him to the Father. Jesus is the way to the Father (14:6), the one who takes away the sin of the world (1:29), who enables sinful mankind to be united with the Father. In rejecting him the opponents are cutting themselves off from the presence of the Father.

Religious people use a catchy statement to encourage people to pray: "Prayer changes things." While it is undoubtedly true that prayer plays a part in changing things, we need to modify our understanding of this because it is true only if our prayer agrees with God's will.

This quotation on prayer comes from an article, "Prayer or Fate?" that appeared in The Christian Worker:

God in His sovereignty has ordained that human destinies may be changed by the will of man. This is at the heart of the truth that prayer changes things, meaning that God changes things when men pray. Someone has strikingly expressed it this way: "There are certain things that will happen in a man's life whether he prays or not. There are other things that will happen if he prays, and will not happen if he does not pray."

Are these concepts biblical? James writes:

Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit"; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that

Revelation 19:6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude like the sound of many waters and like the sound of mighty thunderings saying: “Hallelujah! Because the Lord our God reigns, the Almighty! 7 Let us rejoice and exult and give Him the glory, because the wedding of the Lamb has come, and His wife has prepared herself.” 8 And it was granted to her to be dressed in fine linen, bright and pure, for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints. 9 And he says to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding banquet of the Lamb’.” And he says to me, “These are the true words of God.” 10 And I fell at his feet to worship him, but he says to me, “Don’t! I am your fellow slave and among your brothers who hold the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

What you’re saying makes sense up to a certain point. Unfortunately, it’s easy to take this kind of logic too far. When that happens, as it frequently does nowadays, you end up throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

Nowadays people like to say that the only ultimate reality is personal opinion. This is especially true where “religion” is concerned. It’s “my beliefs” against “your beliefs,” and there isn’t anything solid or objective against which to measure our different viewpoints.

This may be true if we’re talking about some of the customized, mix-and-match “spiritualities” that have become so common in modern society. But it doesn’t apply to Bible study. Why not? Because when we turn to the Old and New Testaments we find that there is something else besides our own prejudices and preferences that has to be taken into account: the text itself. Among other things, it introduces another Mind (or minds) into the conversation. If we want to read the Bible seriously, we have to ask some thoughtful and discerning questions about the intentions of the people who wrote it.

Don’t misunderstand. We realize that people can take a book like the Bible and try to make it mean whatever they want it to mean. That doesn’t prove that they’re justified in doing so. The words of Scripture do mean something in their own right, whatever you or I may say about them. What’s more, they can be misrepresented or misconstrued. So it’s not just a matter of “personal interpretation.”

Tonight we will prove to you that prayer really does work. With faith the grain of a mustard seed that is all you need. It was the disciples who inquired first, so you aren't alone in wondering if prayer really works.

While Jesus was praying, He was asked, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John [known as John the Baptist] also taught his disciples" (Luke 11:1). They could have asked Him anything. They could have asked, "Lord, teach us how to turn water into wine" or "Lord, teach us to raise the dead". Instead, they asked Him how to pray, and what He did was teach them how to build a personal relationship with God. Then and only then could they be ready to learn how to pray as a group with an understanding of what a solemn assembly is all about.

Well, let me be honest. Sometimes (often?) prayer is hard and even confusing for me. As Tim Downs asks, “Is it hard to pray to an unseen, infinite, omniscient being? You bet!” And, living in this world so bathed in materialism, about the only reason even Christians give me for praying is “to get answers.” So when I don’t get the answers I want (and sometimes not even any answers), I don’t know why I should keep praying. So...

“What’s that,” you say? “You feel that way, too?” You think everybody feels that way? You just gave up praying three weeks ago because you didn’t have any more motivation either? “Can you look over my shoulder at what I’m writing and maybe get motivated, too?” Absolutely!

Any of the rest of you out there trying not to look interested can follow along, too. The more, the merrier.

Why Pray?

Well, as I said, sometimes you get the impression that prayer is a grocery list: “Our Father, who art in heaven... Gimme, gimme, gimme! This is sort of a, “shop ‘til you drop” way of praying. But somehow I cannot see that as the prime and certainly not the most satisfying reason.

Well, that’s the second reason I was amazed. The more I study, the more good motivating reasons I find to pray. I find they’re basically the ones Jesus Himself had. And since, as I said earlier, I’m often flummoxed about prayer and get discouraged, these reasons almost always give me a lift -- and sometimes even a jolt.

THE PRINCIPLES OF THE CROSS Brothers, have you died? Have you given up your natural power and wisdom? If you have not, you cannot do the work of God. Many people are working. Actually, they are not working because God is not working. With them, it is not the new creation that is working, it is only the old creation that is working. Therefore, the Holy Spirit is not working in their work. The work which we perform by the power of the Holy Spirit is a work that begins with the spirit and ends with the spirit; this work begins from our spirit and ends.

Our world is filled with events and situations that can cause great fear and anxiety. It’s easy to become overwhelmed and live imprisoned by fear.  We are promised in God’s Word that he is faithful and will protect us (2 Thessalonians 3:3).  God wants us to let go of fear and to live life to the fullest! (John 10:10) When you are overcome by worry, use these prayers for protection to remember who God is and the protection he has promised you.

Revelation 17 begins by clearly identifying the woman in this chapter as a “harlot” (verse 1) “with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication” (verse 2). This seems to refer to political intrigues in which the leaders of these nations collaborate with this “harlot” in spiritual misconduct, with each party seeking its own advantage. Similarly, God called Israel’s disobedience to Him adultery and harlotry (Jeremiah 3:8-9; Jeremiah 5:7; Jeremiah 13:27; Ezekiel 16:32).

This fallen woman’s influence was and is extensive. In addition to her influence over the kings of the earth, she holds sway over a large portion of the earth’s population. The description of her as one “who sits on many waters” (Revelation 17:1) is later explained: “The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues” (verse 15). In verse 2 she is further described as making the inhabitants of the earth “drunk with the wine of her fornication.”

The Secret of Guidance said, "The great tragedy of life is not unanswered prayer, but un-offered prayer."

Instead of it being something we do everyday, like breathing, eating and walking and talking, it seems to have become like that little glass covered box on the wall that says, "break in case of emergency." It is true that so very often we associate prayer with crises in our life.

I heard a story the other day of a man who encountered a bit of trouble while flying his little airplane. He called the control tower and said, "Pilot to tower, I'm 300 miles from the airport, six hundred feet above the ground, and I'm out of fuel. I am descending rapidly. Please advise. Over." "Tower to pilot," the dispatcher began, "Repeat after me: "Our Father Who art in heaven...'"

Prayer is, for the most part, an untapped resource, an unexplored continent where untold treasure remains to be unearthed. It is talked about more than anything else , and practiced less than anything else. And yet, for the believer it remains one of the greatest gift our Lord has given us outside of salvation.

The Bible as a Mirror

The sins in our lives are not like the stars in a constellation, with the number never varying and their positions remaining fixed. Instead, our sins are more like a flock of birds on a fence rail, with some birds joining their fellows, others flapping away, and the whole flock milling about. In other words, sins may disappear from our lives and then reappear, perhaps joined by others, recombining in a somewhat different form every time. There is, in fact, an infinite number of formations that sin may assume.

Because our sin diagnosis keeps changing, we need to constantly remain on the alert. First we need to be alert to what we are doing and thinking. Then we need to be alert to how our actions and thoughts line up with the Bible’s teaching.

We glance at ourselves in a mirror several times a day to see how we are looking. In the same way, Scripture is like a mirror that shows us who we really are. And we need to keep turning back to it to remind ourselves of how human beings are capable of going wrong.

Are you feeling fulfilled? Well we are all trying to understand what are real purpose of fulfillment here in this earth is. I often winder what is my destiny too and how can I fulfill it and make God truly pleased with me for my efforts to do his will. I often began to wonder is there something more that I could be doing to make every effort count where it really matters. Let me tell you all something this is a part you can all play in by just listening to him speak to you and you responding to his every word with an open heart and right mind to follow his will.

Remember he has undenyable favor towards you because he woke you up this morning and started you on your way and that in it self is anact of selflessness like none other. I could go on and on about the goodness of the Lord because he has done so much for me and when I think about all he has done for me I just say thank you Lord and if you never do anything else for me you have already done enough for me. This teaching is so important because it teaches us how Gods words from the bible came to past and what he said in his word was spot on with no error or mistake we are to be so greatful that God has done everything that is written in his holy word for he changes not today yesterday and in the future he will be he same God and for that we need to shout Hallelujah.

Christians of all denominations may use study Bibles and Bible reading notes to assist them in their personal Bible studies. However, the use of such aids is discouraged in many churches,[which?] which advocate the simple reading of Bible passages. In some cases, the practice of reading through the entire Bible in a year is followed, this usually requires readings each day from both the Old and New Testament. This practice, however, has been widely criticized[by whom?] on the basis that the understanding gained of each specific passage is too vague.

The association of Bible study and prayer is an important one. Christians do not merely study the Bible as an academic discipline, but with the desire to know God better. Therefore, they frequently pray that God will give them understanding of the passage being studied. They also consider it necessary to consider what they read with an attitude of respect, rather than the critical attitude which is frequently followed in formal study. To them, the Bible is not just a sacred book, but is the very Word of God, that is, a message from God which has direct relevance to their daily lives.

Inductive Bible study Edit Inductive Bible study is a means of studying and exegeting a biblical passage. Richard Krejcir describes it terms of "interviewing a passage" without preconceptions or agendas.[1] Inductive Bible study involves examining the ideas and words of the text, which leads to the meanings and then the interpretations, which in turn lead the reader to conclusions and applications.[1] In inductive study, the reader will read a passage and then ask questions of how they personally interpret the verse(s). These questions can range from what the verse(s) literally means to how it applies to the believer's present personal circumstances. The purpose of these questions is to go deep enough into the text to extract the meaning and then to apply that gained knowledge to their personal life in order to create change for their own.

Question: "What is deliverance ministry, and is it biblical?"

Answer: The generally agreed-upon definition of “deliverance ministry” will usually focus on the casting out of demons or spirits in an attempt to solve problems related to specific demons. For example, a deliverance minister may seek to help someone overcome anger by casting out a spirit of anger. Deliverance ministries also focus on tearing down spiritual strongholds in one’s life, finding inner healing, and claiming the victory in Christ over all enemies. Many refer to soul ties, curses, and the “legal rights” of demons. Biblically, demons or evil spirits are known to be fallen angels that rebelled in heaven with Satan (Revelation 12:4, 9; Isaiah 14:12–20; Ezekiel 28:1–19).

There is certainly quite a bit in Scripture about Satan and his horde of demons. There is little said about deliverance from them, and nothing said about deliverance as a “ministry.” The offices of the church are found in Ephesians 4:11. First were the apostles and prophets, the foundation of the church—with Jesus being the Chief Corner Stone (Ephesians 2:20). Next are listed evangelists, then pastors, and teachers. The ability to cast out demons is not listed as a spiritual gift or a ministerial duty.

The Gospels and Acts relate that Jesus and the disciples cast out demons. The teaching portions of the New Testament (Romans through Jude) refer to demonic activity yet do not discuss the method of casting them out, nor are believers exhorted to do so. We are told to put on the whole armor of God to stand against spiritual wickedness (Ephesians 6:10–18). We are told to resist the devil (James 4:7) and not give him room in our lives (Ephesians 4:27). However, we are not told how to cast him or his demons out of others, or that we should even consider doing so.

It is interesting that we have no record of Jesus’ instructions to His disciples on how to cast out demons, with the possible exceptions of Matthew

Welcome to Blessings by Grace Radio Hour with the honorable Dr. Bishop Alfred Moore:

God is a spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth...

Perhaps one of most insulting comments a Christian could ever hear from another person is “your God is too small.” As believers committed to the grandeur and majesty of God, we never want to be accused of having an inadequate conception of the Lord. We desire to love a God who is as great as Scripture describes.

As we continue our study of the divine attributes, we note that at times our discussion has been very abstract. These concepts can indeed be difficult to grasp at first, but they are essential to our spiritual well-being. We can only trust a Lord who is good, loving, holy, merciful, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, and faithful as the biblical Creator truly is. At the same time, we recognize that we can study for a lifetime and only scratch the surface of His immensity. But this will be worth the effort, for as we deepen in our knowledge of Him, we will become ever more established in our faith (Heb. 5:11–14).

WELCOME TO BLESINGS BY GRACE RADIO HOUR:

YOUR HOST IS DR. BISHOP ALFRED MOORE OF THE GREATER ALL NATIONS PENTECOST CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST CONVIENTLY LOCATED AT 8516 S. COMPTON AVE LOS. ANGELES, CA 90001... TONIGHT DR. MOORE WILL BE TEACHONG YOU THE UNADULTERATED GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST WHERE HE NEVER SUGAR COATES ANYTHING EVER.

I can attest to the importance of Bible study to spiritual growth. When I’ve dedicated time each day to Bible study, my faith has felt vibrant and challenging. But Bible study is difficult—to do it well means doing more than just poking your nose in the Good Book every now and then. It’s a practice that pays off the more you do it, and it requires a sort of plodding lifelong dedication in order to really see the fruit of it.

So what does it really mean to study the Bible?

I think Bible study has to start with basic familiarity with the Bible. It’s not enough to just have heard some Bible stories here and there growing up; you really need to read the Bible through with a willingness to learn and remember. When you start reading the Bible, you don’t need to start out by plumbing each passage for deep meaning; on your first few passes through a Bible passage, it’s enough to simply familiarize yourself with the author’s writing style, the main characters of the story (if applicable), and the general message of the passage. Depending on the passage, you might try asking yourself as you read: who is here in the story? Where are they? What are they doing, why are they doing it, and how are they doing it?

Welcome to Blessings by Grace radio this is the final analysis on the matter we are living in the last days Jesus Christ is coming back sooner than we know are you Rapture Ready are you spiritually fed are you thirsty and hungry this shows about so salvation and making everybody knowledgeable about Jesus Christ. There is an acronym for the word Holy Bible it stands for he only left you basic instructions before leaving Earth what does that mean you asked God has a design purpose for each and everyone of us he has something that we're all supposed to do each and everyone of us we are to do and say and think like he wants us to if we we are a to repent for our sins and seek for the gift of the Holy Ghost we also have to be baptized and we have to be wholeheartedly sorry and remorseful for all of our sins that we've created and what we've done now here on this show we believe in the unadulterated gospel we believe in the apostolic Doctrine. Dr. Bishop Alfred Moore Is an amazing teacher Bishop Pastor and spiritual counselor he preaches what thus saith the Lord. These messages are very very important because we are truly in the last days of life in the Bible it talks about God and how he says ask and it shall be given seek and you shall find knock and the door shall be opened unto you those scriptures and passages are telling what you are to do there are Ten Commandments in the book of Exodus that we are supposed to follow to the letter of the law God said be in the world but don't be other one that means you live here and you obey the laws of the land but you don't have to do the wordly things. Again welcome to Blessings by Grace radio we love you once twice three times in the name of Jesus Christ amen glory be to God.
