Serving as emperor of Rome from 161AD to 189AD, Marcus Aurelius was considered the last of the five ‘good emperors’, and oversaw a time of relative peace and prosperity at home while stabilizing the empire’s frontiers abroad. Noted for his modesty and dedication to stoic philosophy, Aurelius’ writings serve as a guidepost for many seeking wisdom on life, rule, and what we leave behind. Tonight we are joined by Zach from Logos Revealed to examine Aurelius’ most famous work, ‘Meditations’, and to explore its lessons for leadership in a corrupt modern world.

Economics today is an institutionalized profession, with academic departments, research grants, and millions of practitioners in the finance and government sectors. In the late 18th and early 19th century, however, economists were not part of any formalized profession, and ranged in background from professors of logic and moral philosophy in the case of Adam Smith to dilettantish journalists with wealthy patrons in the case of Karl Marx. Friedrich List, a former German bureaucrat and eventual entrepreneur emigre to America, saw firsthand the important interplay between government and industry, particularly around protective tariffs for developing a manufacturing sector – serving as a potential “missing link” in the body of thought between the extremes of radical laissez faire free markets and top down centrally planned economies. As the world continues on a path towards de-globalization and increasing polarization, List’s system of National Economics provides a guidebook to many developing and developed economies alike that seek to increase their level of independence and sovereignty.

Many of us on the disaffected political right got here at one point or another through libertarianism, which appeals to those most usually content with doing their own thing. If 2020 taught us anything, however, with COVID lockdowns, riots, and suspicious elections, the powers that be are not only not content with allowing free choice, but are more than willing to use violence to maintain their power. Tonight, Pete Quinones joins us to share his journey through libertarianism and his assessment of the conservative political project, concluding organized political force may be the only way to protect the personal values many of us hold.

The largest country in Latin America – in terms of population, land mass, and economy – is a crown worn indisputably by Brazil. But the history of this land, spanning four timezones and over five centuries of development, is one marked by tumultuous governance and political conflict, with different crowns worn by monarchs, military dictators, and democratic politicians alike, ruling over a teeming population of millions of former slaves, colonists and wannabe conquistadors. Tonight, we are joined by Lance from Lance’s Legion to help us work out the nuances of this complex and fascinating country, as well as impart some of the potential lessons of managing a large and complex demography with high rates of poverty and crime.

Estimates place the amount of the earth’s land area dedicated to buildings and other fixed structures to be no more than 3%. But of that land, nearly half is exclusive to roads and parking structures in some urban areas. This fact, obviously a consequence of the prevalence of the automobile, illustrates the importance of transportation, a key pillar to modern civilization. Connecting people, goods and services has always been important, but as the cost of movement has dropped and the speed has increased, the value of the network has only grown, which Metcalfe defined as proportional to the square of the nodes, or in this case, destinations. As technology pushes us farther and more safely, the era of globalization may very well extend beyond the globe and into the stars.

Australia, a name derived from the Latin for “southern land”, sits as a continent unto itself at the far reaches of the Asian landmass, receiving its first settlers over 50,000 years ago when the ice age connected the two by a land bridge. It was not until the European settlements in the 17th century did Australia have a written record, and also when it started receiving its largest growth in population. When Australia became united as a federated commonwealth in 1901, one of the first acts it passed was the White Australia Policy, favoring European settlement and limitation of the recent Asian, particularly Chinese, immigration and influence. Only until the 1970s did this policy shift towards broader and more open immigration. Tonight, Matthew Grant from the Australian Natives Association joins us to discuss why this shift occurred, and perhaps why a return to the older policies might be beneficial to the people of his country.

In a time of increasing skepticism of globalization, stemming from losses in jobs, cultural heritage, and sovereignty over ones own homeland, nationalism has re-emerged onto the political stage in protest movements and increasingly populist governments. Christian nationalism, focused on the incorporation of church doctrine into a nation and often a sovereign, is not a new concept, stemming at least from the time of the Treaty of Westphalia in 1648, but recently has re-emerged as a potential solution to the social ills many societies face in the West. Tonight we are joined by Woe, co-host of the Stone Choir podcast, to make the case for how and why this might be a good way forward for many of the discontented souls of today.

Viewed as a microcosm of Manifest Destiny beyond the confines of the geographical limits of the continental United States, the annexation of the Hawaiian Islands by the US in the late 19th century marked the beginning of what we now consider the global American Empire. To the Hawaiian peoples, it was a clearly just as if not moreso a historic moment, albeit done for reasons of pragmatic acceptance of their minor power relationship in an ocean surrounded by much larger political and economic forces. The Hawaiian Islands, given their incredible strategic military location in the middle of the Pacific, would inevitably come under the sway of one of the surrounding powers. It was almost always less a question of if, but rather a question of when – and how.

T.L. Hulsey is a retired computer programmer living in Mexico. He is the author of about a dozen books on subjects including political science, biography, translation, drama, and fiction. Hulsey attended, for two years each, the Catholic institutions of the University of Dallas in Texas and Fordham University in New York, majoring in economics and philosophy; however, he holds no degree. He blogs occasionally at LewRockwell.com but more recently at the Abbeville Institute.

The self-taught scholar’s latest work, “The Constitution of Non-State Government: Field Guide to Texas Secession,” released in November 2022 by Shotwell Publishing, has received praise from scholars including Drs. David Gordon, Clyde Wilson, Donald Livingston, Walter Block, and David R. Upham. You can purchase the ebook at Shotwell, and the paperback through the Mises Institute Bookstore and Amazon.

Hulsey explains kleristocracy and sortive democracy, how subjective theory of value can be used in symbiotic governance, the folly of universal values like equality, Americans’ fetish for representation a

nd fairness, why Texas is the right place for a decentralist order to be established, practical answers to common complaints against non-state polities, and more. It’s a conversation that’s part philosophy and part history, but one that leads to Hulsey’s “field guide” of cogent ideas and practical actions, revealing just how a peaceful political and cultural solution between people with intractable differences can be attained.

My guest is vice rector of Kiev Theological Academy in the Kiev Caves Lavra, Archimandrite Filaret Voloshyn, who I interviewed with co-host Father John Whiteford, a priest in the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, head priest at St. Jonah Orthodox Church in Spring, Texas, and a co-founder of the Ludwell Orthodox Fellowship along with yours truly.

Last week, Father Filaret released a video about the tensions rising in the ancient monastery and its theological schools in response to the Ukrainian government’s impending March 29 deadline to remove the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) from the monastery. The courageous hieromonk (whose English is superb!) explains to Father John and me the “tragically difficult” situation that is unfolding there (and has been for a many years) and is coming to a head within days. This is a matter of religious and human rights, and one that affects not only the Orthodox faithful of Kiev but also every Christian around the world. I implore all people of goodwill to listen to this first-person account and pray mightily for those being persecuted.

Download this podcast, watch on Odysee or YouTube, or listen at Dissident Mama.My friends at Orthodox Reflections, who suggested to me that I reach out to Fr. Filaret for an interview, have some of the best articles on the crisis being inflicted upon the UOC. These include:

• “5 Important Ways to Help the Persecuted Ukrainian Orthodox Church” which features the email message Fr. Filaret sent to alternative-media outlets in America.
• “8 Lies Told by Enemies of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church”
• “End the Unjust, Immoral Persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church”
• “We Demand an End to the Silence Over the Persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church”

Fr. John also presented a paper in 2019 at St. Tikhon University entitled “An American Perspective on the Ukraine Crisis” and was featured at OrthoChristian. Here are a few other relevant items from this Orthodox website:

• “New video shows how UOC completely restored the dilapidated Kiev Caves Lavra (+VIDEO)”
• “Thousands of faithful again fill the Kiev Caves Lavra on Sunday of the Cross (+VIDEO)”
• “‘Bow to me and you’ll have no problems,’ Pat. Bartholomew tells Met. Onuphry, according to Lavra abbot”
• “Metropolitan Onuphry’s Pastoral Love for the Ukrainian People”

Some of Fr. John’s other pertinent articles on this extremely vital topic:

• “What’s Going on in Ukraine? Part 1: The Historical Background”
• “What’s Going on in Ukraine? Part 2: The Canonical Issues”
• “The Day They Began Killing Christians”

And a couple of his homilies:

• “St. Maximus the Confessor and the Schism in Ukraine”
• “The Schism over Ukraine”

Dr. Marcus Papadopoulos is a British historian, analyst, and author specializing in Russia and the former Soviet Union. He is also an expert on the former Yugoslavia and international relations, having exclusively interviewed the former Bosnian Serb president Radovan Karadzic. Dr. Papadopoulos is a prominent television personality, providing insight into his fields of expertise. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Law and Modern History at London Guildhall University; received a Masters degree in Modern History at Royal Holloway, University of London; and also at Royal Holloway was awarded a Ph.D. in Russian history. Dr. Papadopoulos’ first book “Arise, Rossiya: The Return of Russia to World Politics” was met with acclaim, as did both his 2016 speech at the House of Lords on the origins of the current tension between America and Russia and his scholarly article for the journal of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, “One Eye on Hitler, the Other Eye on Stalin: How Britain Explored a British-Soviet Alliance from January to June of 1941.”

The unReconstructed and unrelenting Dr. Papadopoulos and I talk about the death of the West, the South as the first victim of the US federal government’s tyranny, the breakup of America and how it could “pressurize” decentralization in the rest of the Anglo-Saxon world, the differences between Confederate secession and both Yugoslavia’s and the USSR’s breakup, Russian history in regards to Euro-England hegemony, the Wolfowitz Doctrine, color revolutions, Russia as a defender of religion, Russophobia as racism, and much more.

Download this podcast, watch on Odysee or YouTube, and listen at Dissident Mama. A few of Dr. Papadopoulos’ gems are this 2016 BBC interview wherein he discusses Aleppo, Syria and its relationship to Russia, and how British Russophobia has roots in the Crimean War; a 2018 interview with Sky News in which he calls out an uppity mainstream journalist (is there any other kind?) for relying on the propaganda tools of Western-backed terrorists; his 2020 talk with Turkish news about the Hagia Sophia being converted into a mosque; and a brutally honest conversation from a few weeks ago about Bakhmut and how it has been a “strategic disaster for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.”

Be sure to follow him on Gab where you can read his insightful cultural critiques.

Martin and I discuss “the Southern zeitgeist,” what nationalism means and being a “separatist at heart,” how “ethnic is not a naughty word,” the current chatter about a “national divorce” and what a “free and independent Dixie” might look like, being doxxed, lessons learned from Charlottesville, the power of localism and the importance of building “a mosaic of an identity.”

Ray Dalio, founder of Bridgewater Associates, has written several books on the world of investing and the economy in general based on his years of experience as manager of the world’s largest hedge fund. In the latest of his ‘Principles’ series, Dalio applies his quantitative approach of macro investing to analyzing countries, seeking to identify the factors that lead to strength such as education and work ethic, as well as lagging indicators such as a reserve currency that allow a country to spend beyond its means but ultimately presage a fall from dominance. Notably, Dalio sees China’s rise to the top of global power as likely, with America, while ahead, slowly declining. Tonight, we debate the merits of his analysis, as well as the overall validity of a global macroeconomic approach that overlooks key factors such as demographics in forecasting long term power status.

Stagflation. Fuel Prices. Shortages. Political Turmoil. War in Europe. Roe V. Wade. Crypto Collapse. Counter-counter culture. Most years have one or two seminal, defining events that set the societal zeitgeist, but in 2022 so many events vied for attention that most people had to take time not only to revaluate what it means for the future, but also simply how to filter out the signal from the noise. Tonight we dive into the year, starting with the Ukrainian conflict, and ending with what might be emerging as an escalating one in Mexico, but in between cover the economic and cultural shakeups that continue to leave shockwaves into 2023.

The exchange of goods and services has existed since the earliest forms of civilization, from simple barter arrangements at the local town square to Phoenician traders navigating the Mediterranean with goods from Europe and North Africa. Today, however, the scope of exchange is truly massive, with online commerce coming to dominate nearly all segments of retail, and the scale encompassing transoceanic trade routes totaling 11 billion tons in maritime cargoes in 2021. Underpinning all this lies an extremely complex web of producers, shippers, pipelines, warehouses, and commodities traders that include the massive concerns such as Koch Industries in energy and Glencore in metals, with over 100,000 employees each. Billions of dollars have been made and lost in commodities futures, and as volatility continues to disrupt prices of everyday items from gasoline to grain, the trend of ever tighter global trade integration seen since the end of the Cold War may start to unravel as regional blocks choose to have closer and more reliable supply chains.

James Perloff is journalist who wrote for The New American magazine for nearly three decades. He’s the author of “The Shadows of Power,” an exposé of the Council on Foreign Relations, two books about the evidence against Darwin’s theory of evolution, “The Case Against Darwin” and “Tornado in a Junkyard,” and a comprehensive primer on the New World Order called “Truth Is a Lonely Warrior” and the supplementary “Thirteen Pieces of the Jigsaw.” More recently Perloff published “COVID-19 and the Agendas to Come, Red-Pilled” and the brand-new “Missing Saints, Missing Miracles.” You can read the essays referenced in our conversation and a wealth of other truth-seeking material at JamesPerloff.net and follow him on Twitter and Gab.

Perloff and I discuss consolidation of power, some of the Founders’ foundational errors, the South and “The Lost Cause,” the Yankee Empire, ecumenism, godless infiltration within all forms of Christianity, as well as the beauty of Orthodoxy, Church history, post-biblical miracles, Saints, and silver linings. Sure, “Satan’s a long-term planner,” but there’s nothing that screws up his evil schemes better than people choosing the narrow path.

Download this podcast, watch on GabTV or Odysee, or listen at Dissident Mama.SECRET HISTORY NOTE: I was remiss in mentioning to Perloff that there was a Founding-era Virginian who was not high-church Anglican but was Eastern Orthodox: Philip Ludwell III. Nearly 30 years before Russians began bringing the Faith to Alaska and a century prior to the start of Orthodox immigration to these United States, Colonel Ludwell was received into the Orthodox Church in 1738, making him the first known Orthodox convert in North America. He is the namesake of the Ludwell Orthodox Fellowship, of which I’m a co-founding member, and one of the many cultural connections we see as making the South fertile ground for planting and growing Orthodox Christianity – a spiritual heritage that is open to all nations and peoples, even here in the West.

Ever since the Great Recession and financial crisis of the late 2000s, the American economic model of building large suburban housing developments with cheap credit and sometimes even cheaper building materials and standards has been called into question. Setting aside all the jobs generated in construction, banking, and other financial intermediation, municipal governments also depend on growth for taxes to pay for not just future development, but often times previous build out phases that did not meet their financial projections. With recent examples of cities such as Jackson, Mississippi and Flint, Michigan failing to cover the maintenance costs of their municipal drinking water, this financial crisis has turned into a health crisis. Tonight, I am joined by returning guest Dark Enlightenment to examine just how widespread these problems are, and potential strategies for getting you and your family away from them.

“Cybernetics attempts to find the common elements in the functioning of automatic machines and of the human nervous system, and to develop a theory which will cover the entire field of control and communication in machines and living organisms.” -Dr. Norbert Wiener writing in The Scientific American. Taken slightly less literally, in communist Russia, central planners sought to do just that. By describing the sprawling Soviet economy as a unified set of equations, all sharing a set of inputs and outputs, they believed they could efficiently plan and organize production to catch up and overtake their capitalist rivals. For a while, it appeared to be working, with annual increases in GDP surpassing all Western nations in the 1950s and 60s. By the 1970s, however, diminishing returns had clearly set in, with even admitted growth rates plummeting, leading to the USSR swallowing its pride and importing grain from America, saved arguably only by rising oil prices that enabled it to earn the foreign currency it needed to make up for its production shortfalls. With the microcomputer revolution taking hold in 1980s, Soviet economists hoped the increases in raw computational power would aid in overcoming the scaling issues of manual planning calculations, but by the 1990s, computers were the least of the issue, as the fundamental design limitations of a control system for everything broke loose of its moorings.

Episode 8 features James Edwards, host of the The Political Cesspool, a Tennessee-based syndicated talk-radio show that has been on air now for 16 years. Edwards is a paleocon and a free-speech advocate who doesn’t shy away from hard conversations, which has gotten him in some hot water over the years.

Like his hero Nathan Bedford Forrest, Edwards has been maligned and vexed with guilt-by-association and guilt-by-accusation attacks for discussing topics that many others aren’t willing to touch. Heck, he knew all about the tyranny of the PC gestapo and cancel culture back when some of us were still liberals and neocons. But also like Forrest, Edwards keeps raising the black flag and moving forward.

Check out this episode or watch on YouTube. Mentioned in our conversation are my blog posts “White souls aren’t worth much these days” and “White Christians should feel guilty,” and Edwards’ 2010 book “Racism, Shmacism: How Liberals Use the ‘R’ Word to Push the Obama Agenda.” Also mentioned is Pat Buchanan’s influence in Edwards’ political activism, so I’ve included two TPC interviews in which Buchanan and Edwards discuss the stalwart’s prophetic books “Suicide of a Superpower: Will America Survive to 2025?” and “Churchill, Hitler, and ‘The Unnecessary War’: How Britain Lost Its Empire and the West Lost the World.”

And if you’d like to listen to my appearance on TPC from back in April, click here. Live radio is a whole different beast than is podcasting. My sons claim that during my interview I said that Levon Helm played Loretta Lynn’s “mother” in “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” and when I referred to the Battle of the Crater in Petersburg, I called it the Siege of “Gettysburg.” I vehemently denied both charges, but they’re probably right. Oy. Hey, at least I’m raising kids who pay attention to detail. I really don’t know how Edwards does it live every Saturday night.

Additional reading on Nathan Bedford Forrest’s faith include articles “Nathan Bedford Forrest and God’s Amazing Grace” by Mike Scruggs and “When the Devil Got Saved: The Christian Conversion of Nathan Bedford Forrest” by Shane E. Kastler. For deeper biographical dives, check out the book “A Rebel Born: A Defense of Nathan Bedford Forrest” by Lochlainn Seabrook and the many articles on Forrest at the Abbeville Institute.

Since the early days of European colonization in North America, the great abundance of natural resources was apparent to settlers and their colonial sponsors alike. Timber was chief among these, as the tremendous size and unspoiled nature of the forests that spanned from Canada down through Florida provided fuel, building materiel, and a source of jobs for a great many people. As the centuries progressed, and the frontier closed on the Pacific, America started having to contend with the fact that its resources were not unlimited, and the very real consequences to the environment as well as to the communities living amongst the trees of restrictions on logging had to be weighed. Today, it is less so the forest owl that is endangered, but instead the very notion of an American small town living away from large cities, self sufficient, and able to provide a life that for many was quintessentially free and working class.

Ashley Rae Goldenberg is an independent journalist, researcher, and content creator known on social media as Communism Kills. An outspoken America Firster, she’s not only loathed by the anarcho-tyrants (evident by her permanent banishment from Twitter), but Goldenberg has also found herself in the crosshairs of the Libertarian Party and Con Inc. whose Beltway borgs have verbally attacked and even canceled her for daring to challenge allowable opinion.

Anyone this triggering to cultural Marxists, libertines, and neocons must be doing something right, so Goldenberg and I discuss her back story and worldview, the “Jewish romance with communism,” the perils of challenging the globohomo/anti-white narrative, and the Rittenhouse, Charlottesville, and Ahmaud Arbery court cases, which are ALL the same thing: whiteness on trial.

Here’s the “Right Wing Watch” hit piece on Goldenberg that got her deplatformed from “polite” political society. (I typically don’t share links and subsequently drive web traffic to leftwing sites, but I thought in this case y’all might wanna behold the word-salad agitprop as to compare it to what Goldenberg told me in her own words.)

Also of note is her brilliant “Here Are The Companies That Support Antifa, Black Lives Matter, and Want You Dead” list, which caused normie gnashing of teeth, and the video of Goldenberg’s assault at the hands of the Antifa/BLM cabal. Truth-telling is a lonely business, folks, so be sure to follow Communism Kills on Telegram and Gab.
