God continues to lavish forgiveness and love upon us. Even when our sin seems to outweigh His grace, God is there. Jesus Christ shows us the way, the truth and life. God the Father shows us, that even in the face of horrible sins, He shows love. God is waiting for your change of heart.
It’s a new year with amazing opportunities. Will we choose to follow Christ more closely, or chase after the world? We make resolutions about our health, diet and other things, what about our faith. Resolve this year to work on your faith. Make a difference for Christ.
The New Year brings the idea of resolutions - to fix: diets, finances, work ethic, study habits, take better care of homes and vehicles, be happier, be nicer... The lists go on and on. As we move from Advent into Epiphany we will discuss the SOLUTION that is truly worth clinging to - learning to be the best YOU through a better understanding of who God is and how much he loves YOU.
A baby was born in a manger over 2000 years ago. That baby changed the world. His name was Jesus. He is the Son of God, the Messiah and our Savior. Join with us this night as we celebrate His birth. How will you celebrate? Will you share the story of His birth?
Can we all agree that we should be more generous, kind and loving? The example that Jesus offers us in serving others drives us to be different than everyone else. We do unto others through acts of mercy, kindness and love. Look around, who needs Jesus in their life? Invite them to church on Christmas Eve. The worst thing that can happen is they realize you care about them.
Are we followers of Jesus Christ? Or are we involved more in "churchianity" than Christianity? Our lives are solely and wholly devoted to following Jesus. In all we say and do, we must glorify the name of Jesus. During this tempting time of deals and thrills, remember who and whose you are.
We begin the season of Advent with "Simple Christmas". Over the next four weeks, we will discuss how we can all get back to the basics of the faith. Hopefully we can all choose the holy and righteous path, instead of the worldly path.
We are a thankful people. God has magnificently blessed us in amazing ways. Do we thank Him? Are we thankful? Today, we open our hearts and souls and share our thanks to God and each other. We are a thankful people.
We are rooted and grounded in the love of God. As the Body of Christ, we are a church family. We find unity through belief in Jesus Christ and our love of God and neighbor. We are called to reach out and share the Good News in word and deed. Join us on this journey and be committed to transforming the world in the name of Jesus Christ.
The light of Christ will shine deeply into your soul if open to Him. Do not shut Him out of your daily life, let Him in! We grow in Jesus through a daily walk of faith. Walk with Him and invite others on the journey. In Christ, we find our true purpose and share the love of God in word and deed.
Everyone will eventually plant themselves somewhere. There are a myriad of options after home and school/work. What is your third place? For many, it used to be church. But now church seems to be an "option" instead of a priority. We are a place where people can belong, be loved and be themselves. Make church family a priority and you will never regret it.
When our past causes us to feel we are somehow cursed or unworthy of Grace, the tendency is to take those doubts to the extreme. Our Heavenly Father, cleared the path to better relationships - here and for eternity. Throughout the Bible, we are told of unlikely heroes that over-came their past. Today, we'll discuss how we can be equipped to help diffuse the myths and open others to the love and mercy found through knowing Jesus Christ.
What if we all chose to slow down and listen closer to the voice of God? We would be more loving, compassionate, caring and less stressed! When we seek after the Lord and gather weekly in worship, our lives have great meaning and hope. Be full, present and open to the word of God. Be connected to Him and each other.
Jesus Christ established the church. Jesus talked numerous times about giving and sharing our blessings. And yet, for some reason, people get very upset with churches when we talk about money. Sadly, it's probably the way churches talk about money that upsets people. Here at Grace we don't use guilt or shame. We offer a path and light the way for those seeking to grow in their faith. No judgment, just a light.
What is our obligation and calling to serve others? It is a personal choice, or is there a larger purpose involved? The church today needs to be on the front lines of serving our neighbors. Our neighbors can be down the street, in the city or around the world. We have numerous opportunities to serve here at Grace, but do not be limited by those experiences. Chart your own course as well.
What is grace? Do we need grace in our lives? God is constantly at work around and among us. In our midst, the Holy Spirit leads, guides and sustains us. We are given the grace of God (His mercy, love and compassion), not because of who we are, but because of who God is! Celebrate today the God who was, is and will be with us.
The Holy Spirit continues to guide and lead us. Once we accept Salvation as a free gift from God, it does not mean we are at the end of the journey. On the contrary, we are just beginning our new life in Christ. As such, we seek confirmations of the Spirit moving in our lives, and for some, we seek assurance of our Salvation. Know the grace and love of God and share it!
When we offer Holy Communion here, we have an open table. All are welcome to experience the grace of God in the holy sacrament. From this we are led into our communities and the world as people who welcome all to participate in the transforming power of God's love. All seeking grace and mercy from God are joyously welcome!
God sent Jesus Christ into the world to offer His embrace. Mercy, love and forgiveness are offered to all without price as followers of Christ, who do we embrace? Do we only reach out to family and friends? We should realize that God calls us to reach the lost, hurting and suffering in this world. Bring the light of Christ to every conversation and moment. Let His light shine through your words and deeds.
Children and youth matter to God. They matter to the church! Children should not only be seen, but heard as well. The church is a place where all people matter to God. We are a multi-generational church, helping all connect to God and neighbor. Follow the example of Jesus and let the little children come to Him.
We all carry baggage. It can be unhealthy to carry our spiritual and psychological baggage alone. Today, we remember who we are in Christ. You are not alone. The church is with you. Allow forgiveness to work deeply in your life. Be the person calls you to be and trust in Him.
Our faith needs to be something more than a ticket to Heaven. Our faith must be of benefit to our church, family and community. The world will know us by our love, not just our words. Take the next step in your journey of faith today. Commit to pray, search the Scriptures and live out your faith daily. It's time to step up and take a leap of faith.

Jesus had brothers and sisters. Anyone with siblings might understand how difficult it might be to find out your sibling is the Messiah. Your hometown might not be excited either. Today, we will discuss James, the brother of Jesus. He was a reluctant believer and follower, but after the resurrection, he became a strong leader in the church. What role do you play? Casual follower? If you believe, believe with your heart, soul, strength and mind. Be an example to your family and friends.
Often times, we say we believe in Jesus, but are we doing anything after the words leave our lips? Faith is more than just talking about our convictions. Faith is action. It requires us to do more. So what is your next step in order to move your faith beyond just belief?
How do we treat others who sin? Do we judge them, or love them? We are called to live an uncommon Christian life. God wants us to reach out in concern and service to the whole world. Be a light to those around you and let them know you follow Jesus, not a religion, rules or regulations. We love because He loved us.
We celebrate our independence this weekend from tyranny, oppression and control. Hundreds of years ago, our ancestors started a revolution to set us free. Thousands of years ago, the Son of God set us free through his life, death and resurrection. If you are free, you are free indeed. Now, it's time to free others!
God has magnificently blessed humanity with free will. Some see it as a burden, others cherish freedom. We hold some symbols in high esteem, others are seen as divisive. Today, we turn to the cross of Jesus Christ. How do we view it today? How as it viewed during the days of the Apostles?
90% of all homeless and runaway children are from fatherless homes. 71% of all high school dropouts come from fatherless homes. 85% of youth in prisons grew up in fatherless homes. Being there for your children matters! Be an example of love, compassion and kindness. Be who God calls you to be.
To fish with Jesus means we have a heart for the least, the last and the lost. We care about those in need. We share the faith in genuine and honest ways. Be a Christian who serves, shares and loves. Only then can we truly meet Jesus daily.
Have you heard a big fish story that was a little hard to believe? The Bible tells a couple of big fish stories. One such story is how God uses Jonah and a big fish to teach us about evangelism, compassion, and expecting big results. This is a big fish story you will want to believe and tell others!
Fishing is not easy. It takes patience, endurance and a desire to catch fish that don't always want to be caught. Jesus calls us to fish for people. Are we good at it? Have we ever "fished for people"? The early church understood fishing quite well. Let us fish for people every day.
Who do we invite to celebrate life achievements with us? Friends and family come to mind, but what about those who never get the invite. Jesus clearly told the disciples to go make disciples of all nations. The Bible also says that "everyone" who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. We are called to invite EVERYONE. Not just our friends and family, but invite everyone to follow Jesus.
On average, it takes seven spiritual conversations for someone to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. It takes much more time and work to actually follow Jesus daily. We never know if we are the first, middle or final conversation with others. Be open to the leading of the spirit and be available to share the faith.
Happy Mother's Day. All over the United States today families are celebrating a very important person in their families. We honor our moms. The Bible has lots to say about moms, dads, children and parenting. As we examine the Bible, take a look at how you honor the relationships in your own life. The Word of God might cause us to change our behavior.
Today we celebrate the journey our graduating high school seniors. What advice should we share with them as they begin the next step of their lives? Life is tough, God is good and Jesus lives! May the God of faith, hope and love richly bless them in all they do.
We can all see it. Sometimes it's unavoidable. But, there are moments when we can avoid the big fall. A short pause to smell the roses or listen to God can keep us from significant suffering and pain. May the Spirit of God be your daily guide as you seek faithfulness.
Do you carry stress, anxiety and worry with you? Is it a daily struggle to make it? In Jesus Christ, we find hope and faith. To make it through life, we need to allow others to be in relationships with us. We invite you to open your lives to the love of the church this day. With God, we are never alone and need not worry.
Many of us struggle with doubts. Even Thomas the disciple struggled to believe in the Resurrection of Jesus. To doubt is to believe. Open your hearts today and listen to the word of God.

Today, Christians around the whole world gather together as the Body of Christ and honor the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross. Through His work, we are offered salvation and eternal life. Our sins no longer have a hold on us. We are set free in Jesus.
Palm Sunday we celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. He arrived to cheering crowds and well-wishers. Those crowds faded away and soon all that were left were a handful of followers. Do we cheer one day and ignore the next? If we follow, we need to follow with our heart, soul, strength and mind. Make your discipleship true and pure.
Is the Bible clear about who goes to Heaven? Many assume so, but there are passages that allude to many not going to Heaven and Jesus is the only way. What does that say to other religions or believers in God? Today we examine who goes to Heaven and how to make sure we end up there.
As we grow older, our views tend to change. Concepts and ideals are deeply impacted by our personal experiences. Beliefs also play a big role in determining our views. The concept of Hell has gone through many renovations over the past 2000 years. Four main views on Hell spring forth and in this sermon, we will explore them all.
The followers of Jesus had very distinct views of Heaven and Hell. We look at the views of Peter, Paul and John today. They were all very forceful personalities and leaders in the early church. Hear their words of repentance and forgiveness, qualified and explained in a physical view of Heaven and Hell. Their desire was that all would repent, but knew it was a free choice.
What does the Bible say about Heaven? In the Bible, the word Heaven describes three distinctly different "heavens". Heaven is the home of God and the eventual home of all believers. Do we believe? Do our lives reflect the glory of God? Be open to where God leads us and whomever is placed in our path.
What did Jesus actually say about Hell? Was and is Hell a literal place of suffering and damnation? Or, are the new theories about Hell (Gehenna) being a garbage dump outside Jerusalem where the fire never goes out, more to our liking? Whichever way you go, we all must first begin with the Bible, as it was written most by firsthand accounts of what Jesus said and did.
Tonight we mark the beginning of Lent. Over the next 40 days we ask all those who follow Jesus to: Fast - give something up, Serve - take something on. Join us as we seal our covenant in ashes on the forehead, as we come from dust, to dust we will return.
What do we crave in this world? Experience? Relationships? To faithfully follow Jesus? The temptation of unhealthy experiences and relationships can lead us down a path of sadness and misery. Temporary pleasure and gratification do not last. We must choose to live a life that glorifies God in word and deed. Choose the better way in Christ.
At one time or another, we have all used the phrase “To play devil’s advocate”. Why would we do that? If we love Jesus and claim to follow Him, we should flee from the devil! Flee from sin! It’s a common phrase that has a very interesting origin. Listen today to how we might each stop using it in our everyday language and start glorifying God.
We live in a new world of social media. With likes, follows, friends and shares, life is moving pretty fast. The speed at which “selfie” has taken over all our cultures is extraordinary. Should we be concerned with the culture? Should we attempt to change the trajectory of the conversation and our witness? Let’s hear what kind of follower Jesus called us to be, and we might be surprised as to His language in talking about disciples.
To be in healthy spiritual shape, we need to train for it. What does training to serve the Lord look like? Is merely attending worship occasionally and trying to be a good person enough? NO! What is required to serve the Lord is a life of love, faith and mercy. God calls Christians to live a different life from the rest of the world. We must strive and seek to live a holy life, as an example to those who are far from God.
Where are we running? We are called to run the race in the name of Jesus Christ. Let us begin today to live a new life in the name of Jesus. Open your heart to His leading and calling and run for Christ.
It's a brand new year. What are you doing to make healthy changes to your life? For many, we focus on the wrong things. We focus on particular areas of our lives we are not proud of and then, we obsess. How about we choose to look at the good things in our lives and build on them. Take the next step today in your spiritual life by focusing on what truly matters.
Today’s message will reflect on patterns that help lead beyond making resolutions, into a path of finding peace. Casting aside burdens is possible through promising – entering into a covenant - to have more meaningful life.
What have you wondered about already this morning? When you awakened did you wonder, how did I do that? Maybe you saw a small bug crawl across the bathroom floor and wondered, I have never seen one of those before, very interesting. A car sped around you on the road and you wondered, where are they going in such a hurry? You drove by a cemetery or hospital where babies are born and wondered. We die inside on the day nothing causes us to wonder anymore. Some say the deepest mystery is the reality of evil. Perhaps the deepest mystery is the reality of love.
Welcome to our Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion Service! Thank you for joining us to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Son of God and Savior of the World. Tonight we gather to experience the presence of God in our lives. God is with us. God is at work in this place and His people. Hear His calling and choose to faithfully follow Him.
Jesus is all about truth and grace. In Jesus, we see the truth of God's word. He offers hope and salvation to all who call on Him. God's grace is showered upon all humanity, not punishing us for sin, but offering new life. Join as we celebrate God's truth and grace revealed in His Son Jesus.
What makes God rejoice? The sound of laughter, maybe children at play? God calls us into relationship with Him, it's our choice whether to respond. Seek to be faithful by living a life that honors the priorities God places in our hearts. Do His will be loving, learning and serving. Surrender to the one who offers eternal life at no price for us.
Do we share the joy of the Lord? When we've been blessed by God, we should respond with humility and joy! To repeat the sounding joy of the Lord means we continually shine the light of Christ. We bring hope and joy to everyone we encounter.
Does God fill our hearts and souls? Have we placed other things in front of our relationship with God? Make room for Jesus. Make room for Jesus in your heart, home, workplace and school. Celebrate the work of God in Jesus. And know that God offers hope to all people.
Are we a thankful people? If so, our hearts should be focused fully on the providence and love of God. If not, we run around worrying about the things of this world. Put your whole trust in God's grace, mercy and love. God does not abandon us, He is with us. Be thankful today and share your thanksgiving with others.
We are a light in the darkness. We bring the light of love, joy and hope to the world. Our calling is to make disciples, love God and love our neighbor. Even in the midst of darkness, a small light can bring hope. If we love our church, we should love our community as well. Share the love of Jesus Christ with everyone!
Temperature extremes, drought, torrential rains, blinding snows are known examples of how the weather in the Midwest can be unpredictable. Sunny conditions can very quickly deteriorate to severe storms. This is true in our lives as well. Pressures from work, responsibilities for our families, even guilt from past behavior can all add up in the most unpredictable way to make even the most gorgeous day, become a seemingly endless period of strife. Through today's discussion, we offer ways to help put the past behind (where it belongs), prepare for the future, all while enjoying the life you were meant to live today.
Do we give up on prayer? If things don’t go our particular way, sometimes we just give up. The Bible is clear about prayer, do not give up. Jesus was clear as well, pray to the Father and ask for what you need. Sometimes the answer is no, but many times the answer is yes, or not yet. Keep praying and do not give up. God is with us and wants the best for us all.
We are saved for a reason beyond enjoying eternal life with God. Our lives point to the Savior, Jesus Christ. We are inspired to reach out to those in need and share the Gospel in words and deeds. Let our lives glorify God and bear witness to His gracious saving acts in Jesus.
The Bible has several lists of spiritual gifts. These are not exhaustive, but they point to something we need to be mindful of in our daily walk with Christ. The Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts to followers of Jesus. Those gifts are meant to be shared to build up the Body of Christ and transform the world. If we do not share our gifts, we deny our God given gifts and may keep others from knowing the true beauty of following Jesus.
Why do some lead and other sit on the sidelines? Are we waiting to have our number called? And if we get the call, would we actually follow through and lead? Excuses are many, few choose to lead. God calls us to lead and to serve, as Christ did. Trust God and the gifts you’ve been given and lead!
In Jesus Christ, there was no sin. He defeated the power of death and in Christ we receive eternal life. Our calling is to love God and neighbor, inside and outside the church. To do so, we need to surround ourselves with faithful followers of Jesus. Those who influence our lives should be truly living the life of a Christ follower. Be influenced by those who love, and love those who feel unloved.
God calls Christians to be fruitful. How do we live a fruitful life? Fruitful living should encompass our wholes lives, not just pieces. Many of us do not realize that begin unfruitful in one area can keep us from growing in other areas as well. In Jesus, we commitment our prayers, presence, gifts, services and witness here and now. Be fruitful.
What does it mean to follow Jesus? All are invited, but few follow. Jesus calls us to live a new life in Him. We must reject the ways of this world, and embrace compassion, hope and love. Choose to not only follow Jesus, but follow through on living in and with Christ.
As we search the scriptures, we begin to better understand Jesus as Messiah and Savior. He was the long awaited Messiah to a people disconnected from God. Reconnect to God this day in Jesus.
Is our faith contagious? Does it spread? It should, especially since Jesus asked us to do so. Be open and willing to share your faith with family, friends and strangers. Remember, strangers are friends we have yet to meet. Listen to the Spirit of God and share.
This weekend, we rest from our labors. Even Jesus would step away for a time of prayer and rest. For us, we tend to rest from the wrong things like faithfulness, regular worship and prayer. As we rest, be renewed in the presence of God for His purpose and answer the calling He placed on your heart.
The ministry of Jesus Christ was a revolutionary experience for many. God loves everyone? Religious leaders could be wrong? Jesus came to save souls, change the course of the religious and defeat evil. His teachings called people back to a faithful relationship with God, based on love, not rules. Join the revolution today!
We all need friends. Even monks in monasteries have friends. Are we a friend to God? Does our behavior match up with our words? Let us commit to follow Jesus daily. In our daily walk, let us make friends with those Jesus would make friends with as well. May the Spirit of God guide us as we connect to each other and Him.
What is love? The Bible is clear about loving God and neighbor, and yet we all struggle. Hear today the teachings of Jesus and early church leaders as they describe love in the church and in their communities.
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came into the world to live with and among us. His life, teachings, death and resurrection continue to transform the lives of billions of people on earth. Do you know Him? Experience the presence of God today, and discover the way, truth and life of Jesus.
How do we stay in love with God? How do we stay in love with others? It takes hard work. Relationships are not always easy and marriages are not fairy tales. To stay in love with God takes a desire to stay connected and the willingness to carry through on our commitments. God love us, no matter what. Do we love God as well? If so, we should prove it every day.
Name three people who have done good for your life during the past month. Someone wrote that, "Jesus went about doing good". Maybe the plain purpose of our lives is to help each other make it through our days and nights.
Today we are looking at the first of the three simple rules, "Do no harm." Even though this may sound easy, is it really possible to live in this world without doing harm? If we want to exemplify the life of Christ, we need to consider how we can do no harm with our actions, thoughts, and words. With God's help, following this simple rule is possible.
Through our study of The Me I Want To Be, we have learned several aspects that help us find who we truly are in Christ. However, there is one last step in this process, Jumping off the deep end or in other terms, your leap of faith. This as you will learn is one of the most important aspects of finding The Me I Want To Be.
In Jesus, God gives us freedom from sin. We are called to put away our old selves and live a new life in Christ. As the Body of Christ, we then offer liberty and freedom to the oppressed, suffering and lost. May our faith and lives offer freedom to all.
Prayer, a simple word, but some people struggle with this concept. They do not understand how to pray or what to pray. God gives us guidelines in the Bible to guide us in a healthy prayer life, but we also have the option to create our own set of guideline to individualize our prayer life.
The best version of you is out there. It's God's best version, not our best version. Today we discover that we cannot remain adrift, we must set a course for our journey of faith. If we have no direction, then we are blown back and forth by the wind, never to fully become the person God calls us to be.

At the heart of the resurrection is the power, love and grace of God. Jesus Christ rose from the grave to defeat the power of death. All who call on His name will not die, but will live eternal. As we grieve the loss of loved ones this day, we know they are in eternal joy and rest with Jesus. Let our lives be beacons to others who seek a connection to God in Jesus.

On Palm Sunday we celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ, Messiah and Savior, into the city of Jerusalem. Hundreds and possibly thousands of people gathered to see him enter the city. They celebrated shouting "Hosanna". Many thought he came to be King, but we know he came to be Savior for all. Celebrate Him today and forevermore as we seek to be faithful.
What do we covet? Covet means to desire wrongfully. There are things we desire without holy intent. We are told "do not covet", and yet we do anyway. To live a life that honors God means we give up the things of this world and pursue the way of Jesus Christ. Only on this path do we find true fulfillment and salvation.
What are we putting out into the world? Bad or Good? A follower of Jesus Christ does everything they can, every moment of every day to spread the Good News. With glad and sincere hearts, we are motivated and moved to acts of mercy, love and compassion. Remember to do no harm, do good and stay in love with God.
Do we write off our minor little lies as indiscretions? Often we tell lies that benefit and put us in a stronger light. Is this offensive to God? A careful examination of our lives will show who and what we glorify. As we consider the words we use and the phrases we share, it might be time to redirect our glorification from us to God. Open your heart today to His teaching.
Today we are discussing some very sensitive and personal topics in the life of the church. This sermon is intended for those 17 years of age or older. We are talking about adult topics and living a holy life. As you hear the word of God today, know that original receivers of the Gospel lived at a different time and place, but the message is relevant today. Our culture is not that different than the time of Jesus and Paul, especially with regard to immorality that goes largely dismissed by the culture. What can we do to change the world? Hear the word of God and choose.
Sometimes we act like children. We are immature and make terrible decisions. The right path is before us and yet we choose the lesser path. As children we experienced stages of development that led us from just seeking food to building relationships and knowledge. As followers of Christ, we must move beyond just being fed. We need to move forward to help others be fed and grow.
Today we begin a forty day journey to Easter. Over the next forty days we will fast, pray and seek the direction of God. As we receive the imposition of ashes, we are sealing our covenant with God. Make up your mind and soul as to your fast before receiving the ashes. Hold to the fast, so that your witness is not diminished by the distractions of this world.
Do we know God is good and we are not? Apart from God, we struggle, walking aimlessly in a wilderness of self doubt and confusion. In Christ, our lives are forever changed. We know the good and are able to move beyond selfishness to service and love. Let this day be a starting point for renewing your faith and allowing God to lead you again.
Our lives can bring joy and hope to the lives of others. A faith daily grounded in prayer and humility can change the eternal course of those struggling, hurting and lost. Might we seek the Lord daily, not solely for our benefit, but for the glory of God and the possibility for others to experience the life changing love of Jesus Christ. Let God into your daily life and be the light for others.
As many of us watch the Olympics with awe and amazement, it's easy to forget all the hard work it took for the athletes to get to the games. They spent hours and hours practicing and working diligently with coaches to help them achieve greatness in their respective sports. For Christians, it takes more than intentions and well meaning phrases to live the life. We must practice personal and social holiness every day, constantly and faithfully pursuing God.
In Christ, we are set free from judgment. Yet, many of us feel as if we are still begin judged by God. We fear retribution and suffering because of bad choices. We have been set free. We are free indeed. Laws and rules no longer apply, only the unconditional love of Jesus Christ. Join the journey of salvation and experience true freedom in Christ.
What makes us angry? Do we find ourselves easily annoyed and led to anger that then drives us to sin? If so, we need to change. Anger that leads to sin is wrong. Anger that motivates us to change the world in honor of God is a whole different story. Hear this day how our emotions and feelings are not unhealthy, but where they lead us can drastically change our relationship with Jesus.
Are you facing overwhelming challenges in your personal, social, work or spiritual life? If so, open your hearts, minds and souls today as we discussing being set free from feeling overwhelmed. God is with us. God will lead us. The church is here to help. In Christ, we are set free and we know that through Him all things are possible.
Do you have fear, worry or stress in your life? If so, it's time to be set free! In Jesus, we find new life and a chance to be freed from the troubles of this world. A holy life, dedicated to God, can be free of fear, worry and stress. It doesn't just happen. It takes faith that moves us forward, growing in the grace and love of God. Open your hearts this day and find a place of rest and peace.
Has it been a rough year? New year not quite living up to your expectations? We are set free in Christ! We have purpose in Christ and are transformed to do good works. As we begin a new year, let us open our hearts, minds and souls to move closer to God and neighbor. One candle can light thousands of other candles without losing its own flame. Let God's love shine in your life.
It's a brand new year with much opportunity. It's up to us to seize the day, the week and the year. God calls us to faithfulness and accountability to each other, the church and to His purposes. As we begin a new year, let us put our commitments to Him first in our lives. May this year begin with a life full of faith, hope and love.

That same experience brought earthly kings together to travel to a foreign land to meet the King of Kings, who came to this world in the humblest of beginnings. Patience is a virtue that few of us excel at, especially in a media saturated crisis driven world. God calls us to be a people of hope, faith and peace. Can we provide hope in the midst of our hectic days? Does faith shine in our lives? Can people see our peace? For this day and this season, let the peace of Christ reign in your lives so that others will know Christ in you.
Family is important to God. We cannot do life alone. Allow God to work in your life and see the connections before you. God is continually at work bringing people together for His purpose. Is it tough to find hope some days? For the people of God in the first century before Jesus, they had little reason to rejoice. They were searching and praying for a savior. In Jesus, we can firmly place our hope. Life is different with Christ in our lives, especially during the stressful times. Today we proclaim our hope and faith again in Jesus Christ.
We begin our four Sunday journey to Christmas today. Advent is a time of eager anticipation, anxiously awaiting the coming of Christ. Over these four weeks, we celebrate Hope, Faith, Joy and Peace in the name of Jesus. We are adopted into the family of God through the work of Jesus and through our acceptance of eternal life. Open your hearts this day to His teaching and discover the history of God's family.
Christians are thankful people. There is no middle ground here. We are thankful for the work of God in Jesus Christ. We are thankful for the pirit who leads, guides and sustains us. We are thankful for all things. We know it and live it daily. Our thankfulness shows in all we do and say. The world will know we are Christians by our love and thankfulness.
God is full of grace, mercy and love. Are His people? We pile on rule after rule and custom after custom. Those things do not always connect to the grace, mercy and love of God. The Kingdom should be open to all people, regardless of their past mistakes. Be a person of grace and know the love of Jesus Christ.
To go to the next level in anything takes perseverance, hard work and passion. In our spiritual journey, it sometimes will mean letting go of a few things, and other times, taking new things on. There will be a day when our faith is put to the test, and it’s those days when we see if we are ready to move forward.
What does a win look like for Christ? New disciples, baptisms or people growing in Christ? To be successful in following Christ, we need to define a purpose and a win for our walk. As we discern our true calling, we become aware of those who are far from God. Our hearts are pulled toward the needy and the lost. Open your heart this day so that you can begin to define victory for Christ in your life.
In football, there is always a starting point and an ending point. In our lives, we have a starting point and ending point. Rarely do we know the ending point, so every moment needs to count. Once we begin to walk with Christ, our direction becomes clear. God calls us to a radically new life in Jesus. Are you walking with Christ? Have you left the field? It's time to get in the game again.
Our words and deeds show our commitments. If we take a good long look at our where we spend our time, what we are passionate about and where our resources end up, we will discover what we love. To understand what it takes to follow Jesus, we hear His words of "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me." How committed are we to following Jesus Christ?
Have you given up on a prayer because it has not happened yet? Today, we will examine a prayer Jesus prayed that when examined, seems a bit overly hopefully in the context of his impending betrayal and death. Even though Jesus knew Peter would deny him, that the other disciples would scatter, he prayed they would remain faithful. Who and what are you praying for, despite the present and future circumstances?
Thoughtful prayer leads to faithful living. When we pray, we open ourselves to the leading of the Lord. During our daily walk, God will lead us in righteous paths, if we let Him. When we think long, we begin to see a larger plan. We see the connections God has placed before us. Follow the Lord daily, and you will never be led astray.
Persistence in prayer is required. We can't just pray one day and give up. God desires a conversation and commitment. Our prayers need to be ongoing, faithful and offered with deep humility. Are there any barriers in your walk with Christ that are keeping you from moving forward? If so, it's time to embrace God's plan for your life and let your witness shine.
How big is your faith? How big are your dreams? Our dreams are directly proportional to the size of our faith. Most of our dreams are just too small. We should be dreaming big with God to make disciples of all nations! A dream remains a dream until we take action. A dream turns into a vision once we start walking toward it and sharing it with others! Share God's dream with others and work together to reach the world for Christ.
Do our prayers matter? Should we ask God for things, or just sit and listen? In the "Circle Maker" story, we hear of a man who asked for something bold from God. Are your prayers bold? If not, maybe we should all pray bold prayers to God. Imagine if hundreds of Christians together prayed bold prayers for each other, the church, our community and the world.
This weekend we rest from our labors. Spend this day as a time of peace and renewal. Find yourself seeking after the way of Jesus again. Know that our faith can do great things in His glory. May you find peace and tranquility as you rest in the arms of your Savior Jesus Christ.
Over the course of our lives, we have received advice from multiple sources. Much of the advice we receive is good advice, some bad. As we finish up our sermon series, we turn toward advice we've received. Think back over your life and ponder the best advice you've heard. Today, we will open our hearts to the Scriptures and discern "best advice" moving forward together.
Is something holding you back? Do you continue to dwell on your past mistakes? You have been set free. If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you have nothing to regret. Through God's gracious love in Jesus Christ we are set free from our sin and given new life. Do not let the problems and mistakes of your past keep you from living a holy life today.
You can't take it with you. The sum of our lives on earth is not found in our retirement, savings or checking accounts. We are more than the sum of our parts. When our candle darkens from this earth, that flame continues on in eternity and in the hearts and minds of those we've encountered on our journey. If we choose to focus more on taking care of ourselves than others, we fail in our obligations and tasks of Christ. Be devoted to God. Be devoted to each other. Love one another.

Do you think you have True Faith? Many people believe they have true faith but do they really? Throughout the Bible, there are many examples of True Faith. One of the most faithful men Jesus found in all of Israel was a Centurion, a powerful Roman commander. Through his humility and total belief in Jesus’ power, the Centurion became an example of True Faith.
Do you ever feel you are on the right track only to find you have somehow veered off course? Does that mean you can still be a really useful follower of Christ? Peter, the rock on which Jesus proclaimed He would establish the church, had quite a bumpy start. Yet through his failures, Peter continued to follow Christ. Thankfully, God uses imperfect people to fulfill His perfect plan. Today, we will hear Peter’s rocky story and learn about his amazing turnarounds.
Who did Jesus hang out with the most? Religious leaders? Prominent government officials? No. Jesus spent time with those deemed "sinners" by the ruling class. The righteous didn't think they needed a savior, so he went to those who knew they needed help. Open your soul this day to the Lord's teaching. Be ready and available for the Spirit to move you in new and fresh ways.
When adversity strikes, the faithful pull together and stand with God. Throughout our history as a people and as a country, there are numerous cases of heroes fighting for others. This week we celebrate that blessed independence and freedom we have received for God our Father. Who is your hero? What makes a hero? Be a hero for others in the name of Jesus Christ.
A man who lived his life cheating and using the corrupt tax system, to gain earthly wealth, comes to salvation. When Zacchaeus heard Jesus was coming to Jericho he just had to see him. Being the small man he was, he climbed a tree to get a better view. Little did he know being in the tree would catch the eye of the Man he came to see. Knowing he was missing something in his life, Zacchaeus decided he needed to turn around.
As King Saul failed to listen to God through the prophets, he also began to think more highly of himself and lost God’s blessing. During this time, as God’s people were facing war, the King became crippled by fear of the Philistine army and it’s champion warrior Goliath. The ruddy, runt of a boy named David changed the course of history and provides a legacy still applicable to us today.
Has my life taken any turns recently? When was the last time I changed my mind or how I feel about what is important to me? How have my experiences recently affected my beliefs? Is my attitude different than it was once? Would someone meeting me after several years say, “you have really changed” or “you are sure the same as always”? What have a learned that I didn’t know earlier? When was the last time I exclaimed, “I was sure wrong about that” or “that is what I believed all along”? Has living knocked the certainty out of me about some things? Has something helped me see more clearly? Who do I treat differently than I did once? Am I just a flip-flopper? How have I been converted? Am I open to change? Do I want to change in some ways but just can’t seem to pull it off? Am I convinced that my way is the right way and anyone who disagrees is wrong?
Today we begin a brand new sermon series all about turnarounds. Jonah is a well known figure because of his travels in the belly of a whale. What we forget though is the frustration he had with God for making him serve and preach. Sometimes God's plan does not fit in with our plan. This day, open your hearts to the will of God. Allow the Holy Spirit to dwell among and in us such that we will all be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.
We are called to share the life changing story of God's people and His son Jesus Christ. We remember what God has done for us, and live into the hope. When our family, friends and community forget, we help them remember. We stand in the gap of history and the future, filling in the blanks for those who struggle. Be courageous and proclaim God's gracious and redemptive love to all.
Love drives us to do some pretty crazy things sometimes. Love motivates, it communicates and it gives us hope to carry on. The love of God breaks from the heavens like the morning sun. His love shines on us and brings light to the dark places in our lives.
Happy Mother's Day. We thank God for the blessing of moms. They cleaned up after us, they took care of us and stood up for us. May this day be a day of remembrance and joy. Let us all be thankful for the wisdom and care of those who raised us and continue to have deep influence on our lives.
God loves us. The only answer to all the mercy, grace and blessings we receive must be love! God has always loved us, from before when there was time. Acknowledging that love means we have accepted Jesus Christ into our lives as Lord and Savior. Your life is a reflection of that love and can bring others to Christ.
God desires us to reach out. Our relationship to God is found in Jesus Christ. When you feel alone, afraid, think you've lost your way; His light is a lamp unto your path. The light of Christ shines in the darkest places in our lives. Reach out to Jesus. Cry out to Jesus. Your cries will be heard, and God will answer.
Miracles, signs and wonders are gifts from God. Sometimes it's tough to see miracles in our midst. The Bible is replete with accounts of miracles. We still see them today. God continues to work through and among us. Be faithful to God, and seek Him daily. Glorify Him in all you say and do.
Today we confirm the faith journey of our confirmation class. Their journey this year began in September, but their faith journey has been a lifelong process of learning and discerning. Thank you to everyone who has helped raise up young Christians at Grace. Stand with them as the Body of Christ and celebrate this blessed and amazing moment.
How do you share your creative gifts with the world? God has gifted all followers. Discovering those gifts is how we continue to grow in our discipleship of Jesus Christ. Let the Spirit of God work richly in your life. Pursue God's will daily and know that He is with you.
Happy Easter! Come and Celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord. He is Risen, He is Risen Indeed! Our lives are forever changed by the work of God in the Savior Jesus Christ. Living a life of abundance, full of grace and mercy, is the calling of every Christian. We are blessed magnificently and wonderfully by God. Accept this new life for yourself. Reaffirm your faith in Christ. Live as Easter people.
One thousand nine hundred and eighty years ago a Jewish Rabbi was crucified by the Romans, on a hill outside of Jerusalem. Deemed no better than the two criminals that hung next to Him, Jesus of Nazareth spent six hours nailed to a cross before breathing His last breath. He hung for the billions who choose to believe, and the billions that might someday accept Him. We ponder today His last words and the actions of others in quiet reflection looking deep into our own souls.
Jesus chose to go to Jerusalem facing certain death and much suffering. As He rode into Jerusalem, the crowds cheered and celebrated His arrival. The disciples assumed they were going to see the King of Kings take his throne. Little did they know, within a week, the celebrated teacher and Rabbi would suffer. We stand on the edge of great suffering and great victory. Remain faithful and live your life as if your last day is today.
Does the Word of God reign in your life? Or is it just part of the noise? The Word of God should reign supreme in our lives, above all other distractions and commitments. It's time to let go of the things that have been holding us back and move forward. Grow in the good soil of life! And help others grow too.
Do we consume religion? If so, then when our tastes change, so does our faith. God wants a consumerless church. We are called to be disciples, not customers. A customer is someone who purchases goods or services. A Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ, His teachings and profoundly connected to the Body of Christ. What is God's dream for your life? We are called to be a people of love.
God is with us. It seems like we only remember that at Christmas. During our difficulties, tragedies and struggles, God continues to guide, lead and strengthen us. Let us open our hearts today to His teaching. Discover that nearly 3000 years ago, the Israelites were experiencing loss of jobs, homes and life. What did God say to them? What does God say to us this day?
Jesus sent the disciples out to share the good news. He cautioned them with one of the most intriguing and confusing statements in all the Bible. He talks to them about sheep, wolves, snakes and doves. For us, these appear on the surface to be four animals with distinct traits. But behind the scenes, Jesus is speaking a whole different language. Today, hear how and why we are sent out into the world. And hear the admonition from Christ to be prepared and prudent.
Many Christians feel their main holy obligation is to attend a worship service. This is one of our spiritual practices, and may be one of the more important. But linked with this is a call by Christ to go out into the world and make disciples. Our call is one of gathered and connected holiness. We are also sent out into the world to usher in the kingdom of God. Today we discover why people need church (the gathered Christian community). Why is church important to us? If we can answer that, we can share the gospel.
God is all around. God is with us. In Jesus, we learn how much God truly loves us. The embrace of God is always available. Do we approach Him with open arms, or do we run? This day, may you reach out and up to God and feel His full embrace. Connect this day with a God who shares His full and unconditional love with us.
