this week, we are thrilled about our interviewees and topic at hand: a dose of race in medicine. this is a vital topic to explore when trying to understand and address the complexities that affect our patients, fellow colleagues and society in general. this can be an uncomfortable topic, and while that is part of the challenge, we hope that this discussion can help to create conversation about this important issue!
we interviewed 2 pros on this topic and paired it with a casual morning tea to start us off. and yes, jack did give us the long-awaited updates on his dude wipes and dog clippers!
sdoh - social determinants of health
this week we welcome the GODDESS natty mabachi, phd, mph, an assistant professor at kumc. she does a ton of wonderful work addressing a variety of health topics among vulnerable and underrepresented populations in the kc area and beyond. today she talks w/ us about what social determinants of health look like here in kc and how we as current and future providers can address them w/i the walls of a clinic.
as for the tea - loosen up your buttons for a cool & casual update from jack, rachel, and kate. we're chatting about what we've been doing to stay sane and chipper during our stay-at-home time.
