If we recollect, the first 20 years of our life were more or less predefined by the state. Preschool, school, college, and university. Like guinea pigs on a wheel, we kept going and stopped only when the state-mandated prescriptions were done and we had to think for ourselves. And in spite of working so hard all through the years, we had no clue what to do next.
So, meet Chaitanya Motwane. He is 20, done with the 12th grade and he has been accepted by a prestigious university abroad. But he chose to step away from the wheel, decline the online classes and defer joining to make the most of the classes. Stuck with a gap year and no plans of what to do next, he ended up having the best lessons outside of a classroom. He spent the year trekking in the Himalayas and Kilimanjaro, to Scuba Diving in the Andamans. It was a discomfort zone for him but he made it to tell the tale.

When the second wave hit, nobody was prepared for it. And when things got worse, people who had the resources and ability offered help in whatever way possible. Some donated money, some volunteered with organizations, some mobilized resources via social media, and some, like our guests, arranged fresh and healthy home-cooked meals and bake sales for those in need.
It was a situation- grandparents who couldn't cook for themselves, kids whose parents were on duty/hospitalized, people living alone and down with the virus; and so many of them in need of funds for treatment as it involved hospitalization and expensive drugs.
This round, catch Chef Saransh Goila, best known for his brand- Goila Butter Chicken talk about how he crowdsourced data on organizations and individuals willing to provide meals to Covid-19 patients and with help from a friend, launched https://covidmealsforindia.com/ that works across multiple cities in India to ensure home-cooked meals to those in need.
Joining him is Neysa Mendes of the Good Slice brand who channeled her baking skills into raising funds by organizing a bake sale under the hashtag #bakeforindia, and had multiple big and small bakers from across the country join her and raise money in a similar way.
Gauri and the guests discuss the process and efforts that went behind making it a success and the satisfaction thereafter.

If you are a Mumbaikar, you're well aware of the very popular and loved 'Mumbai Mirror'. The first page would carry the city's big news and the next one would carry, what everyone would say, gossip, but was actually just news about popular people. You liked it, you hated it, but you'd always read it. And one of the major contributing members, Namrata Zakaria joins Gauri Devidayal on this round. Namrata is a journalist and columnist for various publications where she mainly writes on fashion & culture. She’s vocal about preserving India’s legacy of weaving craftsmanship and has even initiated a fundraising program to this end. Tune in to hear all about her journey. The hospitality industry was badly hit by the pandemic. This round, Gauri is joined by Yash Bhanage & Sameer Seth, cofounders of Hunger.Inc- the company behind 'The Bombay Canteen', 'The Bombay Sweet Shop', & 'O Pedro'. Starting 2020, the world more or less entirely moved online. And for most of us, we check emails in the same system as we browse Twitter or conduct transactions. The same system has multiple personal and professional data stocked up and all of this lies at a huge risk of being wiped out in a single click. You read that right. Remember those lottery emails that gave us joy for precisely one second before our rationale kicked in? Or a random call asking for OTP? If this is the case on an individual level, imagine the risk on an organizational level. We have heard of apps that collect personal information of individuals signing up on their platform, having their data leaked into the open web. There have been cases where huge servers are broken into by hackers and data has been 'kidnapped' so to speak with an amount asked for as ransom in exchange. And now with just every service finding online presence, there is a need for cybersecurity experts, managers, and portals that address issues that are beyond the usual antivirus. One such company is Sequretek and we have its co-founder and CEO, Pankit Desai on the show. He talks about how an organization is made of People, Processes, and Technology. If people stay vigilant and put processes in place; if processes are followed with the help of technical aid, and if technology is guarded well by the people, the circle is a fortress that no malware can conquer. So if you want a rundown of how to have a safe presence online, tune in!Some links to understand this better: 1. ABIDE EXPLAINED: https://bit.ly/3fpkwa92. Brands personify a product but PR grooms them, makes them presentable and spotlight-ready. It connects the brand to the public, builds and maintains those connections, protects its image, and is one of the pillars of its standing.
PR in India and the world has seen massive growth and maturation. It started as press conferences, press releases to newspapers and journals, to digital presence, to making it big on social media, and to now- the influencer and digital content creation and trends age. Some brands have stood the test of time and technology, all thanks to a strong PR that evolved with the consumer.
To talk about all this and more, Gauri was joined by Archana Jain, MD of a 23-year-old organization- PR Pundit. An industry expert and veteran, she has seen the industry right from its humble beginning to the blazing field it is now and has contributed to the success of multiple brands. She talks to Gauri about how she got into the industry, how did brands perceive it back then versus how does it work now, how to find the right channel for communication, how to choose the right celebrity/influencer, paid PR, and so much more.

We are amidst a pandemic, a public health emergency. And there is a clutter of information available out there on the internet, on social media, on 'Whatsapp University'. In order to declutter all of that and bring forth important handy guidelines to refer to in these times, we invited Dr. Pankaj Narvekar to talk about the situation and share some important information. Dr. Narvekar has been working with the Covid facility at NSCI Dome, Worli for more than a year. He tells us about:-His life as a Covid Warrior-Identifying the symptoms of the disease-How to manage home isolation and when to consider hospitalization-About Oxygen requirements-About the medicines used to manage the virus-About the Vaccines-Safety ProtocolsTune In, and do share it with everyone. Let's keep misinformation at bay.
Not every product is a brand but can be. For that, the business must think like its target audience and offer them a piece of their personality as well. People not only look for quality and/or quantity but also how does it add value and flavour to their lives? Old school branding would bank on just quality but with multiple players, there needs to be something that stands out. Also, businesses need to keep a tab on trends and evolve along with the customer to stay relevant. And to help with that, we have multiple agencies offering solutions to various business problems and our guest for the episode belongs to one of the best of them with a beautiful message of how these agencies can be an extension of the client, and that a sense of co-build and ownership can create magic! Please welcome, Shreya Soni, founder of DSSC- Delhi Secret Supper Club who ran the agency in incognito mode for 4 years which is now a full-fledged brand and marketing solutions agency based in Delhi. They help business identify a purpose, understand the story behind it, and carefully roll all these into a consumer-friendly strategy that adds value to both the stakeholders. She is a DU and Warwick alumni, with work values learnt at EY London, and now the person behind success stories of brands like Uber, Microsoft, DLF, AirBnB, and Audible. But here is a 7-year-old, representing her cohort, finding happiness in being able to play with her pets, watch TV with her father and solve puzzles with her mother.
Tune in to listen to her talk about her life, the worry monsters she fights with and how she misses (but also doesn't) going to school.

Traveling is all about exploring a certain place, its culture, food, monuments; catching a vibe and returning with luggage and souvenirs. The only ritual post that is to unpack and get back to life. But for Divia, it is all about unpacking the brain and memory of all the input it has had in the days of travel and purging them into a document which will be dissected and published, and bits of it will find their way into social media and be immortalized forever.
Yes, she is Divia Thani- now the global editorial director with Conde Nast Traveler has lived an enviable life as a travel writer. Looking forward to her latest role and shifting to London for the same very soon, Divia joins Gauri to discuss all things travel. He has represented India in 105 international events over the past 16 years. He has 13 medals at the national level, and two golds at the international stage. With these credentials, ideally, most of us would have been able to recollect who this person might be but we don't because- what happens in Kashmir, stays in Kashmir!
The person in consideration is Arif Khan- professional Alpine skier from India, now looking forward to representing India at the Beijing Winter Olympics scheduled for February 2022.
A 26-year-old boy from Gulmarg, Kashmir; Arif has been skiing since the age of 4. He initially pursued it as a seasonal sport played in the hometown and eventually took it up professionally. Khan races in two categories: the slalom and the giant slalom. Both involve skiing downhill, crisscrossing through pole gates at speeds nearing 90km/hr.
Just like every other sport, this one too requires funding. It involves the cost of his kit, the coach, dietitian, gym facilities, travel, registrations, etc. Arif's father runs a ski kit shop and a small homestay business that was initially supporting his conquest but owing to Kashmir's turmoil, the changes in laws and administration, and the lockdown, his business suffered and it has been a roadblock ever since. A few friends and supporters did pitch in back in 2018 when he tried to run for the Olympics but fell short at the last moment, he is trying his best again now. And we can certainly help him achieve this dream.
Vasundhara and Zulfiqar Khan- friends and supporters of Arif in his journey to the Beijing Winter Olympics (February 2022) have started a crowd-funding campaign at:

While an average human produces 500 gms of waste each day, Divya Ravichandran deals with just 100gms of waste each year. How does she manage to do this?
Divya is the founder of Skrap, a Mumbai-based environment sustainability startup that helps businesses implement zero waste solutions. She is a passionate advocate of sustainability, low waste living and positive climate action. Divya herself leads a zero-waste lifestyle and discards less than 100 grams of waste in a year.
In this episode, she talks to Gauri about witnessing the devastating aftermath of the Deonar dumping ground fire which inspired her to start Skrap. She also points out how some everyday practices like using multiple paper cups or tissues have contributed to the garbage crisis, how plastic was once a miracle material and is now deemed as the villain, and how some simple lifestyle changes and wise choices can help us reduce our waste.

Being a food critic can be a dream job for many.
Imagine getting paid to eat some of the best food in the world using a secret identity; it’s like being a culinary James Bond with a license to bill it to work.
But there’s more to reviewing than ordering everything on the menu and opining on it later.
To dive deep into what it really takes to be a Food critic, it was an honour and privilege for me to chat with Mr. Richard Vines.
He has spent time with venerated publications like the Asian Wall Street Journal and The Times, but is most well-known for his last stint which has lasted an incredible 25 years - he’s the Chief Food Critic at Bloomberg. He was also the UK & Ireland Chair for the World’s 50 Best Restaurants.
Fun Fact: He has had a memorable encounter with Mr. Nelson Mandela shortly after his release.
