The purpose of ‘KTWhat?!’ is simple - to focus on topics which are important to us at KTJ and to get the views of experts within our community and further afield on these.
KTWhat?! is happy to release the second episode of this season tonight.
We have Mr. Thomas Yarlett, teacher of Physics and Middle Science and Mr. Ben Wakefield, Head of Humanities teacher, discussing if humans can develop a conscious AI. They are joined by our very own students, KTJ Sixth-Formers Darshini, Eirdeena and Umar exploring artificial intelligence, it's consciousness and the future of robots.
Join us as they ponder through the scientific and ethical arguments that underpin one of the greatest questions of our time: "Can humans develop conscious AI? If so, should they?".

Welcome to the first episode of our podcast for this season. KTWhat?! had a fantastic opportunity in interviewing the CEO and Founder of Planet Mark, Steve Malkin.
The entire session is about climate change, sustainability and nature. Great insights shared by Steve on his journey of falling in love with our ecosystem, his joint efforts with the founder of the Eden project, Sir Tim Smit and many more.
A much needed message to those who want to contribute to mother earth: You don't need to be an expert and that curiosity will inspire you to learn throughout the way.

The second episode of our new KTWhat?! podcast features KTJ staff, Ms. Paige Hardisty in conversation with KTJ Alumni, Anand Ramakrishnan, discussing Earth Day and sustainable energy solutions.
Born in South Africa and raised in the beautiful lands of Kenya, Paige completed her tertiary education at Rhodes University, South Africa. She completed her bachelor of social science in Psychology and Sociology and went on to attain her postgraduate honours degree in Sociology. She then began to pursue her ultimate dream of becoming an educator and completed her PGCE. After a year of teaching on the coasts of South Africa, Paige took the leap and flew across to teach in Malaysia at KTJ. She has worked at KTJ for 4 years as a KS1 class teacher. Her work as Sustainability and Outreach Officer drives her passion to inspire and empower young minds to take action in learning and living sustainably.
Anand Ramakrishnan is a proud KTJ and Naquiyuddin alumnus who fondly remembers spending much of his time at KTJ on the sports fields. After completing his AS levels at KTJ, he then went on to pursue an exciting further education in the UK, completing his Masters in Transport and Management at Imperial College London. His passion for sustainability brought him back to Malaysia where he has made ground-breaking change in energy saving strategies. His ability to combine classical engineering theory and new age technology allows him to find and deliver simple solutions to major global issues.

The first episode of our new KTWhat?! podcast features KTJ principal, Dr. Glenn Moodie in conversation with KTJ Alumni, Nadiah Hanim Abdul Latif, discussing International Women's Day and gender equality.
Dr. Glenn studied BA and MA in Classics at the University of Otago and moved to the United Kingdom in 1998 to undertake a Ph.D. in ancient Greek tragedy at the University of Bristol. He started his career at Clifton College in Bristol, before becoming Head of Classics at Uppingham School and onto Wycombe Abbey School as the Deputy Head of Academics. In 2014 he took up the post of Headmaster of Truro High School in Cornwall – the far south-western corner of the UK. 2018 brought Dr. Glenn to Malaysia as he became the principal of Kolej Tuanku Ja'afar (KTJ).
Nadiah Hanim is an alumnus, who graduated from KTJ upon completing her A' levels in the year 1999 and went on to study law at the University of Bristol. She is passionate about issues relating to sustainability, business and human rights, youth enablement, child rights, protection and development, and access to disability resources.
