As Christian , what is the most important thing for formation as strong, mature Christians? It is the Church. God has ordained that the Church would be the place of growth and nourishment for his people as well as the means through which the gospel would spread in the world. The Church is so important and yet it is so neglected today. Let's look with fresh eyes at the importance and necessity of the Church in our lives and in the world.

Date: 15 June 2025
Today we are addressing a topic of much importance. We are talking about the world to come. We must acknowledge that this world is one day going to die, but there is a world to come that will never pass away. Jesus has called us to live as though this life is not all there is. So how are we to do that? Well's let's explore that together in the 4th sermon of our Church Responds series.
Passage: Philippians 3:20, 1 Corinthians 7:29-32
Date: 1 June 2025
Is there a spiritual world or not? In the western world we all but entirely removed the idea from our minds. Even those that believe in one barely acknowledge it in their everyday lives. But as Christians it is of the utmost importance. For we are at war with a spiritual enemy, and if we do not understand, and if we do not learn how to wage the good warfare, to fight to good fight. We will find ourselves on the losing side.
Passage: Ephesians 6:10-17

Nations and world powers act with impunity. They are unrestrained, able to do whatever they wish. But is that really true, is the king of the universe powerless before the world leaders? That is the question we will look at today, as we look for ways to find hope in this world and as we think through how to respond to the state of this world as a Christian. Follow me as explore Psalm 2 and see what is the truth behind who is really in control of this world.
Passage: Psalms 2
Date: 18 May 2025
We feel like we are surrounded by evil in this world. We want someone who will defeat the wickedness around us. That person is Jesus. In this wicked world, we can be led to believe and hope in human inventions, in earthly means, but they will always fail us. We need God, we need Jesus, and we need to remember that he is our greatest need in the midst of this evil world. No one has been able to overcome the world, to defeat evil except for him, Jesus.
Passage: 2 Kings 22&23

Jesus said they will know my disciples by their love for one another. Yet so often the church is seen as judgemental, gossipy, and unwelcoming. How we are to persevere in pursuit of this goal, and to understand the power in the little acts of service we do each day.
Passage: John 15:12-17

Today as we look at the resurrection we will explore these questions, and ask ourselves what was the great accomplishment of the resurrection, and is the grave really the death we should fear, or is there something greater.

So that is what we will explore today, what should we be aware of, and how should we be ready?
Passage: Mark 13
Date: 6 April 2025
The gospel seems to be viewed in so many different ways. Some hate it and some love it, unbelievers included. There are so many reactions, so will we ever truly know how people feel about it? Well God's word helps us to cut through much of it, to show us that without him all will see the gospel as foolish. But let us explore why people react the way they do, and whether or not we maybe need to change how we approach our unbelieving friends and family, as we continue our series through the gospel of Mark.

So follow along as we learn what it means to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Jesus.

In Mark 1:16-39, we explore what kind of authority and power Jesus has, and how we are to respond to it. We see several stories all showing Jesus’ authority and a multitude of responses to it. The big question is will we submit to his authority? Will we accept him as our Lord, as well as a saviour? Are we willing to learn what it means to be a true follower of Jesus?
Passage: Mark 1:16-39
Date: 1 December 2024
Mark 1:1-15 is the introduction to our series in Mark, and we start with this question, Why do so many people reject the gospel? Mark begins recounting the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. We see how John the Baptist prepares the people for Jesus’ arrival, how Jesus was shown to truly be the promised Messiah, and why after all of that the Jews still rejected and crucified him. All of this helps us to understand why people today continue to reject the gospel, even when it is such good news.
