The Goodwood Road Racing Club is delighted to announce that the 74th Members’ Meeting will be held on the weekend of March 19-20, 2016, at Goodwood Motor Circuit. The Members’ Meeting was revived in 2014 for members of the GRRC to continue the tradition of the 71 club motor sport events held at Goodwood from 1949-66, and has, for the past two seasons, become the ‘must-attend’ opener for the historic motor racing season. Star names including Le Mans 24 Hours winners Jochen Mass Emanuele Pirro and Richard Attwood, touring car legends Steve Soper, Rob Huff, Matt Neal, Rob Gravett, Tim Harvey, Mat Jackson, Andrew Jordan and Jason Plato, and current professionals like runaway GP2 championship leader Stoffel Vandoorne and FIA World Endurance Champion Anthony Davidson, contested this year’s event, which featured some of the greatest competition ever seen at Goodwood. The 74th Members’ Meeting features several new races, one of which will mark the debut of motorcycle racing at the event in a special on-track encounter for 250 and 350cc two-stroke grand prix bikes of the 1970s and early ‘80s – an era that featured world title success for riders such as Giacomo Agostini, Walter Villa, Johnny Cecotto and Toni Mang.

Uniquely, as well as a full programme of racing, the Members’ Meeting offers visitors the chance to see demonstrations of racing cars never seen here in period. The 73rd Members’ Meeting in 2015 promises the spectacle of F1 cars from the 1970s, the biggest collection of McLaren F1 GTRs ever assembled, and a group of wild 250mph Group C Le Mans cars all taking to the track. We’ll also be hosting the return of the marvellous Group 1 ‘tin-tops’ from the 1970s and early 1980s that were such crowd-pleasers at the 72nd Members’ Meeting held last year.
Honda Racing team regular Neal, who has three BTCC titles to his name – a number eclipsed only by Andy Rouse – as well as 53 race wins, is a late addition to the Gerry Marshall Trophy line-up and will race the Bastos-liveried Chevrolet Camaro Z28 that started the 1981 Spa 24 Hours from pole position
Harvey will take part in the Gerry Marshall Trophy for Group 1 saloons, competing against other notable racers including Anthony Reid, Darren Turner and Stuart Graham. Harvey, whose BTCC crown came in 1992, and makes his Members’ Meeting debut, will race an ex-works Triumph Dolomite Sprint that was the first version of the car to be converted for racing in 1973, and still bears the British Leyland livery, sharing with owner Anthony Robinson.
Television star and ex-Formula 1 racer Tiff Needell is the latest big name to be added to the Goodwood 73rd Members’ Meeting line-up as the star-studded entry list for the March 21-22 event nears completion. Needell, whose father Tony contested the inaugural Members’ Meeting at Goodwood in 1949, will race in the Gerry Marshall Trophy for Group 1 touring cars of upto 1982 vintage, which is named in honour of the 1970s tin-top cult hero.
Andrew has secured a seat in Nick Swift’s Patrick Motorsport Mini 1275 GT. Hustling a Mini around Goodwood at speed requires a lot of commitment so it will be fascinating to watch the former BTCC champion compete in the Gerry Marshall Trophy in which he will be up against the likes of Chevrolet Camaros, Triumph Dolomites, Rover SD1s and, yes, Ford Capris. This outing marks his Members’ Meeting debut, although he is of course no stranger to Goodwood having competed at Revival twice – most notably last year, when he raced his own Austin A40 to second place in the St Mary’s Trophy with his father Mike.
Former British Touring Car champions Robb Gravett and Tim Harvey, plus a number of other motor racing stars, are the latest drivers to sign up for the 73rd Members’ Meeting at Goodwood Motor Circuit on March 21-22. Gravett and Harvey will both take part in the Gerry Marshall Trophy for Group 1 saloons, competing against other notable racers including Anthony Reid, Darren Turner and Stuart Graham. Gravett, who won the 1990 title, will climb behind the wheel of a 1974 Broadspeed Dolomite, sharing with David Swig in the race that pays tribute to tin-top cult hero Gerry Marshall.
